Just Because...Tom Hardy & Michelle Williams

Us, The Duo
Tom Hardy & Michelle Williams
Just Because I really like her as an actress, Just Because he's hotter than Georgia asphalt and Just Because they have a movie, Venom arriving this Friday - Here are Tom Hardy & Michelle Williams pimping said film in Beverly Hills this past Thursday.

While I have no intention of seeing Venom, I like this photo op with the two leads. Not to mention I have a "thing" for Tom Hardy. That's correct peeps, even though I have lost 50 lbs, my ideal weight would be Tom on top of me!

TMI? Well I'm a giver, and we like to share...

So here's the thing that befuddles me, who the F#ck is Venom anyway and are there really minions clamoring for an epic about him?

I suppose there must be, right? Why else would a studio, in this case, Sony fork over millions for such an endeavor?

Venom opens Friday, so does A Star Is Born - I'll be seeing the latter.

Saturday Sinema: 12 Monkeys

Terry Gilliam is a director with vision. I remember seeing "12 Monkeys" upon it's release...amazing!

Hitting shelves on October 30th! Following the commercial and critical success of The Fisher King, Terry Gilliam next feature would turn to science fiction and a screenplay by Janet and David Peoples (Blade Runner, Unforgiven) inspired by Chris Marker's classic short film La Jetée. In 1996, a deadly virus is unleashed by a group calling themselves the Army of the Twelve Monkeys, destroying much of the world's population and forcing survivors underground. In 2035, prisoner James Cole (Bruce Willis, Die Hard) is chosen to go back in time and help scientists in their search for a cure. Featuring an Oscar-nominated turn by Brad Pitt (Fight Club) as mental patient Jeffrey Goines, Twelve Monkeys would become Gilliam's most successful film and is now widely regarded as a sci-fi classic. Arrow Films are proud to present the film in a stunning new restoration.

Roger Ebert calling it a "celebration of madness and doom."

Bonus Materials

  • Audio commentary by Terry Gilliam and producer Charles Roven
  • The Hamster Factor and Other Tales of Twelve Monkeys, feature-length making-of documentary by Keith Fulton and Louis Pepe (Lost in La Mancha)

Freaky Friday

Cheers to Beer!
Lady Gaga
This ayem I received an E-mail that informed me today is National Drink Beer Day - really, I'm not joking. Seeing as how there seems to be a day for everything, why not drinking beer? I ask you? I'm waiting for an answer...

What is odd about the whole situation is how and why I received this correspondence via a site called HaveGuru.com, a place I have never dared to go on the WWW. Also, why when I try to reach it, it does not come up, yet it sends E-mail?!

Freaky Friday indeed minions.

To celebrate I chose my own poster person for said day, the woman of the hour Lady Gaga imbibing in the refreshing golden liquid at a Mets game.

So join Moi & Gaga and raise a mug in honor of beer's special day and toast to websites that do not exist sending "Ghost E-mails" about days that do exist.

Cheers!

Just Because...Robert Redford & Sissy Spacek

Feels :Like The First Time (It Is!)
Sissy Spacek & Robert Redford
Just Because he's The Sundance Kid, Just Because she's Carrie White & Just Because they have a new movie The Old Man & The Gun hitting theaters September 28th. Heeeeere's Robert Redford & Sissy Spacek!

These were two of the biggest movie stars of my youth. Both of them essayed many great films and roles. Well they are back in a big way damn it with a movie that goes like this:

"Based on the true story of Forrest Tucker (Robert Redford), from his audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70 to an unprecedented string of heists that confounded authorities and enchanted the public. Wrapped up in the pursuit are detective John Hunt (Casey Affleck), who becomes captivated with Forrest's commitment to his craft, and a woman (Sissy Spacek), who loves him in spite of his chosen profession."

And aren't you happy? I know I am. It will be great to see the first time pairing of these two, "yes" it's their first time peeps. This is what we would refer to as epic in my days of yore, the source material pretty much seems like a slam dunk for this duo.

What's in your local cinema?

Hitting The Tractor!

What A Feeling!
Jennifer Garner
So here we are, it's the first day of Fall and guess who's hitting the tractor?! None other than Jennifer Garner

Damn Grrrrrrrrl, what did divorcing Ben Affleck do to you? You are now loco and you feel a need to mow down strawberry fields? Yeah, I'm kidding.

I'm not really sure why Ms. Garner is sitting on top of a tractor, but it's a great visual to kick off the first day of Fall 2018

What's that you say, you can't believe we are winding down 2018 already. Neither can I, and neither can the my imaginary friend named Bertha.

But alas Fall is officially here despite that today it is going to be in the 80's in my neck of the world Los Angeles, CA.

Just Because...Emma Roberts

Witchy Woman
Emma Roberts
Just Because she's color coordinated, Just Because she's out and about in my hood, Silverlake, CA & Just Because she's baaaaack on American Horror Story this season as bad ass witch Madison Montgomery - Yeah, it's time for some Emma Roberts....

While I am not sure how AHS: Apocalypse is going to tie in Murder House & Coven. "Yes" I know we have all seen the "Leather Man," but how does that puzzle piece fit into the end of the world damn it! One thing is for sure Madison Montgomery, Madison Montgomery, Madison Montgomery.

In case you haven't guessed I loved Emma Roberts as a bitch of a witch on AHS: Coven. So much so that the very thrown together season, which had no F#cking consistency or continuity had another saving grace other than Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates & Angela Basssett.

Looking forward to seeing Emma's reappearance as Madison. Seriously, how could a witch as powerful as her be offed by strangulation? Yeah, that's how lame Coven was.

OK, Full Moon fans, you know who you are...Woot! Here it is!!!

Full Moon's classic family film PREHYSTERIA
comes to Blu-ray for the first time ever this Fall
This remastered, high-definition transfer taken from the original 35mm camera negative arrives in a special Blu-ray + DVD combo package on October 9th

Legendary horror and dark fantasy film studio Full Moon Features (founded by producer / director Charles Band in 1989) is world-renowned for wild films like PUPPET MASTER, CASTLE FREAK, SUBSPECIES, EVIL BONG and many, many more. But nestled among Full Moon's vast entertainment universe sits Moonbeam Entertainment, the beloved '90s imprint that housed Band's series of imaginative (and successful) fantasy films.

Beginning in 1993 and continuing well into the late '90s, Moonbeam Entertainment released dozens of remarkable (and hugely popular) horror, sci-fi and fantasy movies made for children and families. Anticipating the success of JURASSIC PARK, this 1993 VHS-era favorite follows the misadventures of Jerry Taylor (Austin O'Brien, THE LAST ACTION HERO), a 12 year old Elvis-loving kid and his sister Monica (Samantha Mills), whose raisin farmer dad Frank (Brett Cullen, GHOST RIDER) accidentally brings home a bundle of rare eggs unearthed in the rainforest by Rico Sarno (Stephen Lee, DOLLS), an sinister museum curator. Suddenly, the eggs hatch, unleashing a pack of diminutive dinosaurs that the kids name after their favorite rock and pop music stars - Elvis, Jagger, Madonna, Paula, and Hammer. But when Sarno finds out about the dinos, he'll stop at nothing to get his hands on them and its up to Jerry and Monica to protect their new "family".

This wild and hilarious comedy / fantasy classic features top-notch stop-motion special effects by the great David Allen (PUPPET MASTER, LASERBLAST) and is ready to be embraced by a new generation of children and kids of all ages looking for charming, eccentric retro-genre entertainment. About Last Night...

What's Under The Dress???
Tiffany Haddish
While I can't say I actually watched The Enemas, I mean Emmy's. Especially since the small portion I did see was unwatchable. Seriously who wrote that awful patter betwixt presenters?! There was one thing that was more fun and entertaining than the sum of the whole show's parts....Tiffany Haddish's rainbow gown was giving people life at an otherwise dreary affair.

Of course being a gay man my mind immediately went to the Rainbow Flag, which I suppose is a valid interpretation. Only I came to find out that Haddish explained that her dress was inspired by the Eritrean Flag which is a tribute to her late Father's home country. Thus I was in the zone going to the flag place when I saw it.

Then there was the Social Media take, peeps comparing it to the giant parachutes they used to play with in grade school

Whatever your interpretation for my money Tiffany was the belle of the award show. Makes me wish I had seen her red carpet arrival, but as stated, well you know....

Monday Motivation

I'm Gumby Damn It!
Adam Levine

Even though it doesn't happen until Wednesday I am planting the seed of motivation today, Monday. "Yes" Monday Motivation for a Wednesday ayem yoga class. For some inexplicable reason I have missed hitting the mat for the past two weeks and I really need to go as yoga does wonders for me and my body, not to mention my mindset as well.

Thus I have enlisted the very flexible, not to mention agile, Adam Levine to give me the kick in the booty I need to reach the mat at 8 ayem Wednesday morning.

While at this point and juncture I know I will never achieve Gumby flexibility like Adam, one of my goals is to become more so.

My body does actually give more than it used to in the bending department than it did when I started my yoga journey. That's why I am kicking myself for missing it these past couple of weeks...Grrrrrrrrrr.

OK, my mind has been programmed I know I will be in a downward dog come Wednesday. Join me?

Just Because...Eric McCormack

New Sensation
Eric McCormack
Just Because he got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to publicize the upcoming season of Will and Grace. Just Because his pose is giving me life on a Sunday morning & Just Because I wanna be sedated. Here is Eric McCormack peeps!

While I was never really a fan of the original Will and Grace ("yes" I am a bad gay, or perhaps bad ass gay depending on your take) I am even less of a fan of the cartoon like reboot.

This but and however does not mean I find Eric untalented. I find him very much so and am glad that the powers that be decided to pimp his ass out for publicity for the second coming of the revived show by gifting him with a star on the HWOF

Hey, the going price is $40,000 and that's pretty cheap in terms of the publicity it buys. Obviously NBC deemed McCormack the one from the cast who should get one. Also so did the Walk of Fame committee.

So there you have it in a nutshell Eric going yogi on your ass and receiving his Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame zen style.

What?! It's done get on with your day.

The event’s producer and coordinator Molly Shalgos reflects on The Goonies connection to RAICES and the importance of continuing to pay attention to the current state of affairs:

“The footage coming from the border over the last few months is sickening. It’s not just that it’s heart-wrenching; it is a helpless sort of rage, the rage that comes from knowing you cannot drive down to Texas and forcibly hurl your body against the fences. You can’t crash into those cages and scoop every child into your arms and swing to the rescue. There is no magic wand to wave that will undo the damage that’s been done. But that does not absolve us from the responsibility of trying.

That’s The Goonies in a nutshell: we keep fighting even when it seems like a done deal – a home in foreclosure, the papers all but signed. RAICES has been on the front lines of this humanitarian crises from the beginning. They haven’t stopped. They won’t stop, but they need our support – now more than ever, in these days when every week in the news cycle brings something worse than the last. They need us to keep paying attention.”

Freaky Friday

Stu Anyone?
Joan Collins
Wednesday was the debut of Season 8 of American Horror Story: Apocalypse - and like most shows the premiere episode was meh. Premiere episodes are always establishing ones thus they are always somewhat lackluster, that's just the way it goes. I am giving the season a few more views to see if I will continue watching.

This being stated who would have ever thunk an icon from my youth would be eating a stew with Stu as the main ingredient?!

"Yes" this Freaky Friday is dedicated to the great Joan Collins who portrayed Alexis Colby-Carrington on the nighttime soap Dynasty when I was a tadpole. Never in my wildest imagination would I have thought at 85 years young she would turn up on the hit horror anthology as Evie Gallant who knowingly cannibalizes the first casualty of the fallout shelter post apocalypse, a gentleman named Stu, who is now, well stew.

Joan plays her role with sly humor and aplomb. That was to me the weirdest thing about the premiere episode, it played more like a demented dark comedy than anything that would actually get under my skin and disturb me.

Hats off to you Joan Collins, you've still got it, you cannibal freak!

Hump Day & Chill

Surrender The Towel
Naked Bob
Today I thought it would be grand to give a Hump Day & Chill to the hot, mature male. "Yes" that is correct, sexy in charge men over fifty who are in great shape, like moi

If you had told me at 52 I would be in the most kick ass shape of my life I would have scoffed when I was in my twenties. Especially since I was of the live fast die young mentality and figured I wouldn't be here past 40.

Surprise! I am still here and better than ever!

Which brings me to today's Hump Day & Chill object of my, and your affection via Tye Briggs Favorite Hunks & Other Things. He goes by the moniker of "Naked Bob" and he is sex with a stick personified.

The Weirdest Movie Ever Made

The Weirdest Movie Ever Made: The Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot Film

Tracing the convoluted history of the 59 seconds of grainy, shaky, and silent 16mm film that propelled Bigfoot into pop culture forever

I remember this vividly...
BearManor Media is proud to announce the release of The Weirdest Movie Ever Made: The Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot Film, a new book by Phil Hall. The book will be available in all book retail channels beginning October 1st for the suggested retail price of $24.95 for the hardcover edition and $14.95 for the softcover edition.

On October 20th 1967, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin emerged from a forest in Northern California with 59 seconds of grainy, shaky, silent 16mm film that offered documentary evidence of the existence of the Sasquatch, a creature of Native American folklore. Although neither Patterson nor Gimlin had any previous experience in filmmaking or zoology, they presented their remarkable footage as the first motion picture evidence to confirm the existence of the elusive Sasquatch.

However, not everyone was convinced by the imagery on the Patterson-Gimlin Film. Additional doubt was generated by the strange story behind the film's creation. Over the years, odd rumors emerged about the film, including the story of an Academy Award-winning make-up artist's alleged role in assembling the creature seen on camera.

Film journalist Phil Hall traces the convoluted history of how Patterson and Gimlin supposedly wound up in the right place at the right time with their camera, and how they brought their weird little film into the scientific community and American popular culture. While the debate over the authenticity of the Patterson-Gimlin Film continues to percolate, few would question the effectiveness of how this piece of celluloid brought forth an unlikely sensation lovingly dubbed Bigfoot.
