Ginger Wildheart & The Sinners

"Ginger keeps working at a rate that'd seriously tax more youthful musicians."- Classic Rock

"Another cracker to add to the many that have come with the Wildheart stamp"- Backseat Mafia

***

Ginger Wildheart & The Sinners are proud to announce the release of their debut album on October 7th via Wicked Cool Records.

Their self-titled album is an energetic album that celebrates rock’n’roll and as Ginger explains it is in “the spirit of the music that we all collectively love, from childhood to the present day. Little Feat, The Allman Brothers, Wilco, The Band, Creedence, The Jayhawks, Lone Justice, Jason & the Scorchers, Georgia Satellites, Status Quo, The Stones…from roots country to rock n roll and Americana.”

The uplifting new single " is about a dream “Not necessarily one that will come true but enough to have something to look forward to, especially when times seem a little hopeless.”

Photo: Shirlaine Forrest

He adds, "'Lately Always' is a song about hope. About having a dream or a goal just big enough to cling onto and stay afloat on the choppy waters of life. Too much reality can bring some ugly side effects, like disappointment, resentment, or the crushing weight of anticlimax.

Sometimes you need a dream just to keep going, whether daydreaming about a holiday, fantasizing about a new love or imagining a new life for yourself. Some dreams come true, some don't, but every dream helps escape the boredom of real life.

We live at a time when hope is in bigger demand than ever. This song offers hope, escapism and positivity, all wrapped up in a good tune and some tasty harmonies."

And that, right there, is exactly what Ginger Wildheart & the Sinners are all about.. Sanctuary for a tired mind and a weary heart. The comfort of emotionally connecting with a song. The medicine that nothing but music can ever be.

Watch the "Lately, Always" video here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLdg9euZo6Q

Stream the single here: https://orcd.co/latelyalways.

Ginger Wildheart & The Sinners were formed in August 2019 when Ginger joined forces with Neil Ivison and Nick Lyndon from the band Stone Mountain Sinners. The line up was completed with drummer Shane Dixon (Tri-City Fanfare) and as Ginger explains “Me and The Sinners met for the very first time in the studio, in preparation for recording an album together. We figured out that if we can’t get along with each other then the music would be ultimately worthless. So we went to the pub and got drunk together. The next morning the music started flowing with ease. This is the sound of friendship.”

The album was recorded at Mwnci studios in Pembrokeshire, Wales, with Dave Draper producing.

The LP kicks off with the first single "Wasted Times," which sets the tone for an album of pure rock n roll, peppered with country touches. The listener will find a further seven original songs, including "Lately, Always" plus two covers: "Dirty Water" by Status Quo and "Six Years Gone" by Georgia Satellites, the first song Ginger wanted to play with the band back when this was just an idea. “I became a bit obsessed with the song while in LA for Lemmy’s funeral, and carried it around in my heart from then until we all congregated at the studio.”

There is a refreshingly familiar sound to every one of the songs on the album and it is a masterclass in how to write melodies that pull the heartstrings.

Despite the turmoil in which we find ourselves, Ginger with his Sinners give us all hope. Get with it or get out.

Younger Than Springtime

Younger
Madonna

While surfing the WWW I came across this image of Madonna getting down with her younger bad self circa 1985 as "Susan" from the film Desperately Seeking Susan.

This brings back memories of when I was in college because that is when Susan hit theaters.

It also reminds me of a simpler more enjoyable era, the 80's. Hey, they were really a great time to live through so if you didn't I'm sorry.

Time keeps on moving along though and here we all are collectively in 2022. A time where I am truly Desperately Seeking Susan.

Have a Madonna straight outta the 80's day!

Zoet Deutch

OK Minions I really have nothing to state on this last Friday of July 2022, thus I will leave you feeling fresh as a daisy with flowers!

Well kinda, it's actress Zoey Deutch in a floral shirt and skirt out and about in NYC.

If Zoey strutting about in this totally tubular outfit doesn't give you Good Vibes Only you might want to check your pulse just to be certain you still have one.

My Friday Flowers from me to you via Ms. Deutch.

Michael's Musings

#tbt #ThrowbackThursday Fan Boying
Michael Shinafelt

Today's premiere of the HBO Max series Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin got me thinking about how much I LOVED the original Pretty Little Liars. Seriously, you have no idea!

When the Pretty Little Liars spin-off The Perfectionists was set to debut I went so far as to attend the immersive experience in Hollywood (as you can see in the photo above.)

I even attended the premiere of a little indie film G.B.F. specifically to meet Sasha Pieterse who played mean girl Alison DiLaurentis in the first go and Perfectionists ("Yes" I fan boyed.) I was bummed Perfectionists didn't get a second season I liked it, due in no small part that they brought Sasha on as well as Janel Parrish who played Mona from the OG cast.

You may ask am I gonna watch Original Sin, "Nope" - the original is always the best, and no OG cast members guest star (that could coax me to tune in.) Best of luck to the show, simply not in my wheelhouse.

From all the buzz on Twitter about last night's ROBH episode it sounds like I'm in for a really big show...hopefully I'll get to it today, if not soon!!!

Hump Day & Chill

Here we are again Minions another Hump Day & Chill. Guess what?! Much like last week it's a trailer for another horror movie.

"Yes" spooky season is just around the corner and it's my Christmas with all the horror film trailers coming at us!

The scare flick in question in case you haven't guessed already is Pearl the prequel to Ti West's nasty little opus X (which I loved!!!) dropping September 16th. Starring the amazing Mia Goth and co-written by her with West as Well.

Based on the trailer it's gonna be another Hell of a ride. My favorite byline about it via Polygon sums the preview up best:

"Ti West's Pearl adds porn and pitchfork murder to the Wizard of Oz"

In case you're wondering why this is accurate (I know you are) I suggest you Hump Day & Chill to the abovementioned preview below.

Personally I can't wait for this, now go Hump Day & Chill with your bad selves...do it, and do it now!!!

The Sound Of Music

Today is what is known on the Internet as Tunesday (Tuesday/Tunesday, get it? Groovy!) - Thus I thought something musical was in order. Something beloved if you will.

So here it is Minions, the classic movie musical The Sound Of Music! Can I get a do a deer? "Yes" I sure can!

I know millions of people out there are fans of this film. While I am not one of them, I am a Julie Andrews fan and love her in this movie.

Thus on Tunesday I hereby decree The Sound Of Music as your collective earworm. Once it's in your head you will never be able to get it out!!!

Feel free to check out all the behind the scenes history of it and more on my buddy Jay Jacobson's Classic Movie Blog. He is a well of knowledge regarding the history of film.

Man Crush Monday

Boy Wonder Indeed
Burt Ward

Saturday night while flipping channels I came across two back 2 back reruns of the old Batman TV series starring Adam West and Burt Ward and it brought back memories of the Man Crush kind.

"Yes" Minions, I had an MC on Burt Ward as Robin when I was a kid. I mean what's not to like???

Look at him back in the day, he is adorbs! Not to mention perfectly cast as Robin (I was a big Batman nerd as a kid.)

Oh, the things I envisioned when I was young and...well you get the picture.

It's Monday, crush the week!!!

Wicked Bears

Salt Lake City Pop Punk trio WICKED BEARS sign to Wiretap Records, Announce New Album with the single “The Darkness” out now.

About Wicked Bears:

With punk rock as a genre nearing it’s 50-year mark, many musicians, listeners, and critics find themselves asking “how can one play this style of music and still stay relevant?” If you’re Wicked Bears, you answer this question by not worrying about.

It’s not a sense of carelessness that makes Wicked Bears so refreshingly good, however. Nor is it necessarily the nostalgia factor, though it does channel Lookout! Records and 90’s pop punk in all of the best ways. No, it’s the fact that the songwriting is just that good, and all of the correct musical pieces are in place. Where catchiness and cleverness meet, Wicked Bears make their home. And in the way other punk bands have increasingly started losing themselves in pretentious technicality and forced emotion, Wicked Bears decided they have no time for that. Their debut album "Tuning Out” released in 2017 clocks ten songs in under 30 minutes, and anything more would be overkill.

Jumping on the Wiretap Records roster in 2022, the trio preps a brand new album "Underwater" out Spring 2023 via Wiretap Records.

Erika de Vil

Separated at Birth?
Erika Jayne & Cruella di Vil

OK, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans, of which, in case you were unaware, I am. First off let's address the elephant in the room. On what planet does Erika Jayne think it was appropriate to suggest the Crystal Minkoff, rather then purge, take laxatives to for her eating disorder because it would be easier than praying to the Porcelain God?!?!

Perhaps on Planet Claire? While we all know Erika is wasted on medication and alcohol, which Crystal chalks the "advice" up to. I have to wonder if it's projection at this point on Ms. Jayne's part. No matter how wasted I have been that is something I would have never said in this scenario, thus I'm on team projection, while wasted, and not very elegantly I might add.

Whatever the case it did make for a jaw dropping moment of TV and that's what keeps the audience watching.

Thus when I saw this meme juxtaposing Erika with Cruella de Vil, well if the Dalmatian Coat fits...

Hump Day & Chill

The End
Michael Myers & Jamie Lee Curtis

It's a beautiful Hump Day & Chill in the neighborhood...why you might ask? Because the teaser trailer for Halloween Ends has dropped Minions and it's a doozy!!!

I've heard many conflicting things about the actual movie itself, but from what I've seen via this teaser trailer (say that three times fast) straight outta Blumhouse is any indication of what's to come October 14th, well then...F#ck me gently with Michael Myers knife, I'm there!!!

Honestly nothing could keep me away from this, you heard me correctly, nothing.

While were on the subject of sequels and follow-ups in the Halloween universe I have a confession to make. The only Halloween movie I've seen without Jamie Lee Curtis is Halloween III: Season of the Witch.

You heard me, I saw the original, the sequel, then III and did not see any other of the films until H20.

PS I refuse to see Rob Zombie's take on it, so there!

Time to Hump Day & Chill to the tease bellow...86 days till Halloween Ends, Silver Shamrock.

"Yes" Minions this photo is giving me life today, because honestly who could pull off a peachy keen suit like this other than the one and only Mr. Pitt?

In case you have been living under a rock you must know at this point, it's Brad's world and we simply inhabit it after all.

Monday Mood

I Know What You Did Last Summer
Do You???

For some reason of late the 1997 (damn! it's been that long ago?!) horror/slasher movie I Know What You Did Last Summer has been always on my mind.

It also sums up my Monday Mood...don't question me because I will never get into details as to why. Fluff up your pillow and know that life is but a waking dream.

Thus there you have it. Ambiguous and vague as it is.

Hot Ghoul Summer

Lily Munster
Yvonne De Carlo

With the Internet conjuring buzz about Rob Zombie's upcoming take on The Munsters (based on what I've seen it looks frightening and not in a good way.) It made me think of the original 1964 version that I watched with glee in my parents living room. In reruns Minions, not when it originally aired, go it???

It also made me think of how much I loved Yvonne De Carlo as Lily Munster.

Thus Hot Ghoul Summer has arrived! Lily was my favorite vampire married to a Frankenstein monster ever! (mind you she was the only one, but who's embalming?)

Yvonne was a true Hollywood Beauty and no amount of ghoulish make-up could hide that and Frankenstein-ly it didn't.

OK, I've got some feeding to do before I make another bloody disgusting pun.

Get your Hot Ghoul Summer on!!!

While life is not a soap opera, time is something I've been thinking a lot about of late. Hence my latest ink as you can see in the self portrait above: "Just Let Go." Hump Day & Chill

Ms. Weisz I Presume..
Rachel Weisz

While surfing the ole WWW this stunning image of Rachel Weisz came across my Twitter feed and it reminded me of the time I saw her at a movie premiere in Hollywood and how even more stunning she is IRL.

Thus we are going to Hump Day & Chill with things that are Rachel today.

My favorite Rachel Weisz role? Evelyn Ann Thompson in the 2003 Neil LaBute film The Shape Of Things. If you haven't seen it, the less said about this indie going in the better. Let's put it this way Weisz is perfectly cast in a "you didn't see it coming" type of role opposite the ageless and sexy Paul Rudd.

She also happens to be married to one of the hunkiest men alive Daniel Craig aka Bond, James Bond.

I hereby decree today that we Hump Day & Chill to all that is Rachel Weisz, because I can...

Eyes Of A Different Color

Look Into Her Eyes
Elizabeth Berkley

You've more than likely heard the term "horse of a different color" well today "eyes of a different color" is the new one, because guess what Minions?! It's National Different Colored Eyes Day...

To commemorate the day, straight outta Showgirls we have Elizabeth Berkley in the house!

"Yes" Elizabeth has eyes of a different color as you can clearly see in the image above. One being half brown and half green and the other being fully green.

While I know Elizabeth is currently starring in a reboot of Saved By The Bell on Peacock, she will always be Nomi Malone the intrepid heroine of Showgirls to this blogger.

Hey, I love Jessie Spano as much as the next Gen Xer, but come on Showgirls is classic cinema on many levels.

So raise your glasses (entendre intended) and celebrate the unique eyes of others while gazing upon them with envy.

Cheers!

Stepping Out With Cardi B

I See London...
Cardi B

Here is Cardi B in London looking quite chic I might add, and I just did. Confession time...when Cardi first hit the scene I was dismissive at first. Honestly I tend to be that way with rappers of all genders in general. While rap has it's place, it is not my thing for the most part.

Then something happened, I started to read things that guided me past the music and to the woman herself, who is quite funny and just plain down and interesting.

Of course she absolutely had me at W.A.P. one of the best female empowerment songs ever, not to mention clever, cheeky and just plain fun!

Oh, and let's not forget her foray into the Gay Pride Parade where she hung out with her LGBTQ fans after.

Thus I wanna step out with Cardi B sometime, you know hit the town with her. Or perhaps have an at home hang with her. I'm sure she would be dope company either way and then some...

80's TV Ladies

80s TV Ladies, a new pop culture and social history podcast looking back at female-driven television shows from the 1980s (with some nods to the 1970s and 1990s), premieres July 20, 2022. The series is produced by 134 West and will be hosted by Susan Lambert Hatem and Sharon Johnson who will provide listeners with behind-the-scenes insight offered up by special guests from those shows. The podcast will be available on all major platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, etc., with new episodes dropping every two weeks.

Susan Lambert Hatem & Sharon Johnson
Photo: Keida Mascaro

80s TV Ladies is tailored for lovers of pop culture, fans of the 1980s, aficionados of television, and followers of feminist and social history. Although the series is designed to be light-hearted pop-culture entertainment, and provide listeners with lots of retro love and laughter, it also seeks to seriously explore the role gender played in front of and behind the cameras in '80s programming. The show reckons with the conflicting messages these programs were sending to women, as well as men, throughout the decade and, thanks to syndication and now streaming platforms, for many years to come.
