"Bad Bitch Alert"

National Heather Service Issues “Bad Bitch Alert”

A New Anthem by Glam Rappers PrettiBoiRoq and Chanel Jole

Gay Rapper PrettiBoiRoq will celebrate his birthday on March 31 with the release of his scandalous new single and music video, “Bad Bitch Alert (featuring Chanel Jole)”.    Its message is simple: “Bad Bitch is a mindset,” PrettiBoiRoq explains.  “Everyone has the energy inside of them.”  In the song, he and Chanel Jole encourage listeners to live life unapologetically and without reserve.   ““For the longest time, I was uncomfortable living in my skin. Even as late as in my songs from Haus of Ken, when I was rapping about feeling sexy and unapologetic, there was always this underlying insecurity that came through. I’ve evolved a lot since then and it reflects in the new music.”  PrettiBoiRoq’s “Bad Bitch Alert (featuring Chanel Jole)” releases to all digital platforms including iTunes and Spotify on March 31.  Its video will be on YouTube.

“’Bad Bitch Alert’ is an anthem of self-love,” PrettiBoiRoq continues from his Los Angeles recording studio.  “I want the song to be blasting from the speaker while kids are in the bathroom getting ready for the club or in the car on their way to work.  I hope it instantly boosts their egos and reminds them that they got this.  Whatever obstacles block their way, they will overcome because they, too, are bad bitches.”

PrettiBoiRoq wrote the song with Chanel Jole.  The two had been trying to work together for some time.  “We went through hundreds of beats trying to find the right sound for our track. When I came out with the beat that would become ‘Bad Bitch Alert’, I knew right away ‘this is it’!  I sent a demo to Chanel and she began writing the lyrics right away.”  They wrote the third verse together in the studio.

“Bad Bitch Alert” is PrettiBoiRoq’s first official new single since his 2018 sophomore album, Haus of Ken.    “Haus of Ken has and will always be my baby, but I have spent the last few years exploring sounds and working on new creative processes.”  “Bad Bitch Alert” is who PrettiBoiRoq is today, both vocally and lyrically, and where he is in his sexual exploration and body positivity journey.

The “Bad Bitch Alert” music video is an empowering visual that was produced, filmed and edited by Nicholas Eastman.  It stars PrettiBoiRoq and Chanel Jole in a cotton candy coated Barbie and Ken playhouse and both show lots of skin in the music video.   “I have learned to love my body and I am not afraid to show it off, ” PrettiBoiRoq says.   “My style and fashion choices are riskier and risqué-er than ever before and pink has become my trademark color. Every Ken doll needs a little pink.”

PrettiBoiRoq grew up in a tiny town in North Carolina called Pamlico County.  After his mother succumbed to addiction, his parents divorced and he was raised by his religious dad and step mother.

He recalls being picked on a lot for the clothes that he wore and for being gay.  “I moved out of the house as soon as I turned 18 because I was desperate to leave my hometown behind.”

He moved to Los Angeles where he started working in films.  “My LA dreams weren’t on modeling or acting, it was always on the music,” he explains.   “I got hooked on hip hop, the lyricism, the lifestyle from 2Pac and Dr. Dre’s ‘California Love.’ I think hip hop resonates with people who face adversity and with everything I had struggled through with my mom and weight and living in poverty, the aggressive nature of the music allows me to express myself.”

He released his first single, “PrettiBoi Anthym” in December 2015.  His first EP  PrettiBoiRoq, a pop hop record,  was released in June 2016, along with his second single, “New  Sh!t.” “You Don’t Own Me,” PrettiBoiRoq’s most successful single to date, was released in April 2017.  The music video, featuring porn star Arad Winwin, received over 65,000 views on Youtube.

In his second album, Haus of Ken, PrettiBoiRoq honed in on his hip hop roots.  The single “‘Wanna Be Me,’ had a slightly darker, Trap sound to it along with a traditional hip hop beat.

He aims to produce more introspective works in the future.  “I think the queer community needs songs with substance that represent all facets of our stories.  I’ve been writing about issues in my personal life, including how I’ve overcome past relationships and the struggles I dealt with growing up.”

“My hope is that I can inspire someone the way so many artists inspired me. I hope kids listening realize that they don’t have to live by gender standards. Gender doesn’t matter.  Nor does race or sexuality.  Love yourself for the bad bitch that you are.”

Hump Day & Chill

Tonight if you're like me, you're gonna Hump Day & Chill and by watching the VPR drama unfold. According to Urban Legend they just finished taping the reunion. This legend is obviously true because Lala Kent was triggered (see the above meme.)

Based on her post traumatic reunion taping syndrome comment I'm guessing most of the cast will be taking a month off on a secluded tropical island somewhere.

In the meantime let's grab a glass and take a toast to Raquel's big reveal as a true villain, I called this one a long time ago.

She ain't no Bambi Minions!

Stick It To Me

Boing!
Emma Stone

In case you haven't figured it out via the byline today is National Something On A Stick Day - Woo Hoo, Yay!

While there are many things I can personally think of that I love on a stick, none of them can be posted on this blog.

Thus we have what else? Emma Stone on a Pogo Stick, boing!

See Emma bounce up and down on her stick per se, looks like fun when done a certain way other than Ms. Stone's.

But she is quite graceful her way, beauty, elegance & style all on a stick, yummy!

Expatriate

LA-raised singer-songwriter Sophia Marie has released her sophomore EP, “the expatriate, immortalized.”

Sophia says, “Your Songs Are Shit!” depicts the experience of going out with a fellow singer and songwriter. It’s inspired by one time I skipped class while studying abroad and showed up to his concert unannounced. This song is about trying to convince yourself that you don’t care about someone, that you’re totally fine and over them, that you think their songs are shitty because their shallow self prevents any lyrical or sonic depth, but, at the same time, you’re there at his concert, spending 20 euros on a ticket, mouthing every single lyric back to him.”

Of the new EP, she shares, “I recorded these three songs in Los Angeles over the summer of 2022 right before my senior year at Georgetown. I wrote the first song “Femme Fatale” while in the middle of my study abroad at Trinity College the fall of 2021. I wrote “Your Songs Are Shit” right at the end of that same study abroad in Ireland, finalizing the lyrics the night before I took the plane from Dublin back to L.A. in late December. I wrote “Could I Be Your Muse?” during my study abroad in Florence, Italy the summer of 2022.

Looking back at these tracks in preparation for new recordings, I thought about how I wrote all these songs while assuming the role of an expatriate, singing about immortalization and historical figures and archetypes and even a singer who mimicked my own role. I wanted to tie it altogether in an EP that would make sense. I thought the title “the expatriate, (immortalized)” really perfectly encapsulated that.”

+++

Sophia Marie's music is autobiographical. Each of her songs tells the story of a young life in progress. From leaving the sunny, casual west coast for a more buttoned-up DC life at Georgetown University (where she studies International Politics) to a life-changing semester abroad in Dublin, to unrequited romances and lovesick travels, each of these experiences is vividly documented in her music.

++++

Singer and songwriter Sophia Marie George is a Los Angeles native and senior in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Harboring various passions, she finds herself oscillating (sometimes rather chaotically) between many different realms: her major in International Politics, her authorship of creative works, and her love for acting in addition to her music.

Sophia often feels like an ambitious, lust-for-life, nomadic kind of girl without a particular direction, one who doesn’t know exactly what she wants to do or who she wants to be, or where she wants to end up, and her storytelling reflects that indecisiveness, that impulsiveness, that desire to do everything while she’s young. Drawing from her identity as a self-proclaimed “hopeless romantic,” Sophia has a penchant for romanticizing historical figures and events, contemporary lovers, and foreign cities, weaving in the story of her West Coast roots in sunny Los Angeles, her university life in the political and cosmopolitan mecca that is Washington D.C., and her role as an expatriate in foreign cities.

A shamelessly emotional person, Sophia’s vulnerability stands out, with witty lyrics and asides giving comedic, realist commentary on the different places and situations she finds herself in. She is a girl still very much figuring it all out, the kind of crazy soul who seeks out every opportunity and every emotion life can offer. A wildness that sometimes contradicts her inexperienced and naive demeanor, a romanticism that contradicts her occasional feelings of disillusionment, and a performative personality that often contradicts her desire for authenticity.

Just Because...

The Look Of...
Garcelle Beauvais

Here's a shot of Garcelle Beauvais shooting the current season of RHOBH. I ran it, Just Because I am feeling down and for whatever reason it made me smile (never question anything that makes you smile.) Also Just Because it has weekend vibes written all over, under and above it,

Garcelle was one of the MVP's from last season of RHOBH, in fact she was my favorite. Also I am honestly looking forward to a Lisa Rinna free season, her behavior was getting way out of control and too toxic for my tastes.

So cheers to lighter times ahead this coming RHOBH season, "Yes" Garcelle today you made me feel lighter, Just Because...

Drag Isn't Dangerous

A coalition of LGBTQ media groups and companies is teaming up to fight back against harmful political and media narratives about drag performers and trans people. The "Drag Isn't Dangerous" campaign aims to raise awareness and funds for LGBTQ causes and organizations that support drag and trans performers, especially in areas that are under attack.

Led by Producer Entertainment Group (PEG), GLAAD, Q.Digital, OUTtv, Five Senses Reeling, Trixie Cosmetics, SERV Vodka, and other companies, the "Drag Isn't Dangerous" campaign will kick off with a social media and digital awareness campaign. The campaign's website, www.dragisntdangerous.com, will offer resources and information on how to support local drag performers and LGBTQ causes.

The highlight of the campaign is a one-night-only telethon on Sunday, May 7, at www.moment.co/dangerous. Hosted by a wide range of drag performers and celebrities, the event will feature a mix of live and pre-taped performances, appearances, and testimonials from drag performers, LGBTQ entertainers and straight celebrity allies. Initial confirmed talent includes Alaska, BeBe Zahara Benet, Bob The Drag Queen, Brandon Stansell, Darienne Lake, Desmond Is Amazing, Divina De Campo, Eureka O’Hara, Frankie Grande, Ginger Minj, Jackie Beat, Jiggly Caliente, Jinkx Monsoon, Jujubee, Justin Martindale, Katya, Kerri Colby, Laganja Estranja, Manila Luzon, Miz Cracker, Monét X Change, Nina West, Peppermint, Salina EsTitties, Sherry Vine, Trinity The Tuck and Trixie Mattel with many more names to be announced. All net proceeds from the event will be divided among approved charities that support LGBTQ causes and drag performers in need, especially in states where they face discrimination and bans. None of the performers or organizers are taking fees for their work on the campaign.

The only place where men in dresses sexualize children is church” said drag artist Trixie Mattel, star of Viacom’s RuPaul’s Drag Race, Paramount+’s Queen of the Universe and HBO Max’s Trixie Motel.

The most traumatizing thing about drag isn’t harming kids, it’s getting sent home first on drag race. . . but I can't relate” said Bob The Drag Queen, star of HBO’s We’re Here and special guest on Madonna’s upcoming world tour.

"We are sick of it. These bans are not just about trans people or drag performers. It is a systematic subjugation of LGBTQ people," said Jacob Slane of Producer Entertainment Group, the management company behind many of the world’s top drag artists. "Through the 'Drag Isn't Dangerous' campaign, we want to show that drag performers are not dangerous groomers, sexual deviants, criminals or whatever is the latest evangelical slur du jour. We want to raise awareness and funds to make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ people who are under attack."

“In a time when bans and attacks on the LGBTQ community continue to escalate, it is more crucial than ever to remind the world that drag is art, drag is inspiring, and the politicians spreading lies about drag are only seeking cheap political points. Not only do our beloved drag performers have to be protected, they should also be celebrated” said Anthony Allen Ramos, Vice President of Communications & Talent, GLAAD.

“We cover the dangerous rhetoric and anti-LGBTQ bills every day, giving us a front row seat to the fact that LGBTQ+ people are being used as political pawns on the path to the upcoming election,” said Scott Gatz, the CEO of Q.Digital, whose sites include Queerty, LGBTQ Nation, GayCities, and INTO. “We proudly stand up and fight with the most vulnerable in our community to  make people aware that drag queens and trans people are not a danger to anyone. Quite the opposite, they are shining examples of what it means to live our lives authentically, even in the face of adversity.

At HeadCount we believe in amplifying the voices of individuals who have been marginalized in the past!,” said a representative. “One of our initiatives is Vote With Pride in which we encourage members of the LGBTQIA+ community to take action and contact their lawmakers to ensure we are being heard! We are super grateful to join PEG and all the other amazing organizations who are leading the charge, especially now that voting and speaking up are crucial to our community!”

As an organization whose entire mission it is to amplify queer artistry, we are outraged by the collective efforts to send queer culture, creativity, and people underground,” remarked Jason Brotman, Founder and President of Obsessed, the company behind several worldwide drag tours. “We are devoted now more than ever to creating safe spaces for our brilliant artists and our wonderful fans. We are honored to join forces with colleagues across our industry and beyond to say loud and clear: we are here and we will not be going anywhere any time soon.

“Drag artists and trans people are not harmful to the community in any way, however recent legislation is harmful and dangerous to the LGBTQ+ community” said Brad Danks, CEO of OUTtv, the world’s leading LGBTQ+ streaming service. “These extremist anti-LGBTQ+ bills that are designed to restrict rights, erase members of the LGBTQ+ community and cause people to live in fear.  We cannot stand by and allow these laws to stand.  We are proud to join this initiative and we want trans people and drag artists to know that they are not alone, we are in this fight with them.

“As the proud son of an openly gay pioneering father and as a longtime television, film and theater producer, I am outraged that my LGBTQ colleagues and friends are still having to fight for equal rights in 2023," said Matt Weaver, prolific executive producer of projects like Rock of Ages and the upcoming Drag The Musical, who is co-executive producing the telethon. "It is an honor to join this distinguished group of organizations in doing something about it."

Campaign merchandise can be purchased on PEG’s webstore, with all proceeds going to charity.

Hump Day & Chill

Choose Your Warrior

With horror movies being a hot ticket at the box office, not to mention timeless, I thought it would be a scary good time to Hump Day & Chill to a gallery of horror villains and pick a favorite.

I don't care what you were taught as a kid growing up, but it's OK to play favorites in my world. Thus I will tell you mine.

Here goes, although I love the Scream franchise, Ghostface is always someone different, so the icon isn't really a true villain, more like a personae.

I also like most of the Nightmare on Elm Street series, but Freddy is not frightening enough for me. But he is a whole lotta fun!

Jason has never been frightening to me but I have enjoyed a Friday The 13th outing on occasion, mainly the first and second one. The rest...

My fave? Michael Myers, he is the only one who ever truly terrified me, recently not so much. But the original 1978 Halloween left me freaked out that his white face would suddenly appear in the dark and he'd start coming for me.

So it's time to Hump Day & Chill by picking a villain whose team you want to join...do it and do it now Minions!!!

Current Mood

Wisdom
Halle Berry

I know given my Spring post yesterday that it's going to compound an impression that I am a well of negativity. Not really, I am a well of personal power to be precise.

Thus this post by Halle Berry on her Instagram page reflects my Current Mood.

Not aimed at anything or anyone specific it's simply a whole attitude and lifestyle, and there is nothing malicious about it.

It is what it is, and I am who I am...

What Spring???

Today is officially the first day of Spring. It certainly doesn't feel like it, the weather in Los Angeles is rainy and cold.

Thus my current contentious attitude about the whole farce.

Sunday Funday

What A Drag...
Lady Gaga

When I first spotted this image on the WWW I thought it was Travis Bickle straight outta Martin Scorsese's classic Taxi Driver.

Upon further examination it turns out to be the one and only Lady Gaga dressed as a man. Dude looks like a lady Minions.

Gaga is not a stranger to taking on many looks and toying with perceptions. Thus everyday is like Sunday Funday with Ms. Thang.

Our Lady is currently shooting the sequel to the mega hit Joker movie that starred Joaquin Phoenix titled - Joker: Folie a Deux. Oh, and it's a musical, naturally, or not so naturally.

Color me intrigued.

Big Big Love

BELINDA CARLISLE TEAMS UP WITH DIANE WARREN TO UNVEIL FIRST NEW POP SINGLE RELEASE SINCE 1997!

“BIG BIG LOVE”

STREAM / SHARE / DOWNLOAD THE SINGLE HERE

WATCH THE OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO HERE

Currently celebrating more than 35 years as a solo performer with her critically acclaimed Decades tour, the release of “Big Big Love” will be a delight to Belinda Carlisle fans around the world. With a great vocal performance, driving synths and an amazing hook, “Big Big Love”  sounds as huge as its title, with all the ‘hear it once, love it always’ appeal of Belinda’s biggest hits.

Discussing working with Belinda Carlisle again Diane Warren commented, “I'm so excited for everyone to hear Belindas new record. She’s never sounded better. It's so great to be working together again after all these years.  From “I Get Weak” and now to “Big Big Love,” a new chapter has begun.  I can't wait for everyone to hear these new hits!”

Belinda and Diane  first collaborated in 1987 for Belinda’s second solo album Heaven on Earth, which featured the Diane Warren penned songs, “I Get Weak” and “World Without You,” and also the anthemic, “Heaven Is A Place On Earth,” the track that shot to the top of the charts all over the world and established Belinda Carlisle as a global star.

In addition to Belinda’s new solo outings,  she has also recently recorded another Diane Warren track – “Gonna Be You” which is featured in the movie 80 For Brady. This song saw Belinda team up with Dolly Parton, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Debbie Harry - a line-up of female icons for the ages.

Discussing working with Diane Warren, Belinda Carlisle commented, “Twenty-seven years on from making my last English language pop record I really wasn’t thinking I would ever make one again…… and I was quite happy with that idea. Then a chance encounter in a coffee shop led me back to the wonderful Diane Warren and she gave me the incredible gift of this song and the other songs on my upcoming EP.”

Carlisle goes on to add, “Diane’s songwriting is both a joy and mystery to me. She makes it look so easy, where I imagine it must be unbelievably hard, to do what she does so amazingly well over so many years and so many records. I can’t thank her enough for writing this music for me and I only hope everyone else loves it as much as I do.”

Michael's Musings

Michael Shinafelt

Yesterday I went and saw Everything Everywhere All At Once, hey better late than never as the saying goes. Hence this weeks photo, "Yes" you are getting the edgy version of Michael.

Now if you'll excuse me I've got to take care of  all the other versions of my self so they can co-mingle all at once...I've got this!!!

Everything Everywhere All At Once is an amazing film, fight me

No one expects an angel to set the world on fire, the more you know

"We're all small and stupid" - Everything Everywhere All At Once

As I predicted Jamie Lee Curtis won Best Supporting Actress

It's clear Angela Bassett did not predict Jamie Lee winning. Note to Angela: You shouldn't put expectations on winning, also when has the Academy ever given an acting accolade to a comic book movie?!

That time I showed Satan the yo momma jokes I told the kids at the orphanage, discuss

As the roofies began to kick in...

Loved Scream 6!!! Intense, fun not to mention brutal!

Woman Crush of the Week - Michelle Yeoh who richly deserved her Best Actress Oscar win this past Sunday

Lukas Gage & Chris Appleton that's all

As soon as I'm done writing this column I'm gonna have to watch last night's Vanderpump Rules stat! I heard Raquel shows her true (manipulative) colors!!!

Don't jive me hooker!

Once upon a time there was a Creepy C#nt...

Make your monkey fall in line, spank it

Hump Day & Chill

Grace Jones

"I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you, Now i'm right on time, I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you, I feel right on time" - Grace Jones, I'm Not Perfect

"Yes" Minions we are gonna Hump Day & Chill to Auntie Grace Jones song I'm Not Perfect. This has been something I've been ruminating on of late. Life isn't perfect it's up to you to find your own bliss and not live by what is basically the perfect illusions you are given your whole life.

"Just Let Go" of all of it find out who you are and what works for you. Because what makes you happy may not be conventional, but it doesn't have to be.

Now without further hyperbole let's Hump Day & Chill to the amazing Grace Jones and I'm not perfect after the jump!!!

Jamie Lee Curtis For The Win

Yes!!!
Jamie Lee Curtis

I predicted Jamie Lee Curtis would win Best Supporting Actress for Everything Everywhere All At Once at the Oscars and I was correct indeed! (it's clear by Angela Bassett's reaction she thought otherwise.)

"Yes" I am a big fan of Jamie's and not too coincidentally a HUGE fan of the Halloween movies starring her. She's been long overdue for this kind of recognition and by damn she finally got it.

Of course she gave a heartfelt and amazing speech, that's always the icing on the cake of these shows, the speeches (for the most part.)

While I am a fan of her work outside of the Halloween series as well, one of the best parts of her speech was when she thanked the fans of the franchise. Rightfully so, it's because of the success of the 2018 Halloween reboot that she had a career resurgence that opened doors for new opportunities including the role that lead to her winning an Oscar.

Not only did I predict she'd win, I was rooting for her!!!
