Michael's Musings

Starman
Michael Shinafelt

"There's a starman waiting in the sky
He'd like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds"

This past week two things have occupied the corners of my mind, David Bowie and Marilyn Monroe in The Misfits. How are they related to my psyche, each other and the world around me? I really don't know. What I do know is both of these things take me to a happy place and in these trying times that's the best medicine there is, time to carry on...

Dug last night's RHOBH watch party. It was fun having two RHONY, Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan commenting on the women from BH.

"Stand By Your Man" sounds better when Tammy Wynette sings it, so does "Justified and Ancient" for that matter.

Life Hack: If you stop weighing yourself, you will stop gaining weight

Those calling out God's name on Sunday morning are not as fun as those who call it out on Saturday night

It's not up to women to fix misogyny, even if it was they wouldn't get paid as much as men to do it

Billie Eilish unfollowed everyone on Instagram, now my  life is complete

May the bridges I burn light the way

The two top grossing movies in the US at present are Jurassic Park & JawsEff Jaws that movie scares the crap out of me. Eff Jurassic Park because that movie is underwhelming.

Woman Crush of the Week - Marilyn Monroe in The Misfits. The best surprise is no surprise!

Travel all roads, leave no questions unasked

I've been dreaming in Haiku's of late

John Cena just ran naked through my mind

For some reason the Grim Reaper and Florida are synonymous to me

Michael's Musings

Vogue???
Michael Shinafelt
In this week's episode of As The Quarantine Turns it's been Netflix & Chill all the way Minions. Hey, I had to see Tiger King to find out what the deal was. Then there was the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Grace & Frankie and Santa Clarita Diet... and many more to come.

Thus I bet you can tell you are headed for a lot of opinions this week, oh yes you are!

My take away from Tiger King? Carole Baskin totally knows what happened to her husband and had something to do with it.

That Geico commercial with Ratt makes me laugh every time I see it

I burned my last F#ck a fortnight ago

Santa Clarita Diet is off the wall fun! You haven't lived until you've seen Drew Barrymore biting a guys fingers off!

"We can't always choose the music life plays for us, but we can choose how we dance to it" - Unknown

Has anyone ever tuned into an Instagram Live and thought: "That was worth it?"

A random marker of time, anyone?

The less said about the Jane Fonda/Lily Tomlin starer Grace & Frankie, the better

Woman Crush of the Week - Cherie Currie her star studded solo album "Blvds of Splendor" is out now. Order it here: https://music.apple.com/us/album/blvds-of-splendor/1506715461

If there's one thing worse than Chlamydia, it's Florida

Whatever joke you are telling the punchline should be: Flan (Yeah, it's an inside joke, sorry, not sorry)

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a lot like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Edgy, dark, funny, topical and smart 😈 "Yes" that is a recommendation.

Must all things be filled?

Good Vibes

Go Johnny, Go!
John Stamos
"I'm pickin up good vibrations, Shes giving me excitations, I'm pickin up good vibrations (oom bop bop good vibrations)" - Good Vibrations, The Beach Boys

SHE may not be giving me excitations, but HE certainly is! Yep, I'm pickin' up Good Vibrations from this photo of John Stamos taking the stage on guitar with The Beach Boys in Florida.

Nothing like letting loose with the cool vibes of music to soothe your soul. It also does not hurt that Mr. Stamos has gotten hotter in his 50's than he has ever been.

The vibrations I feel when I see John are very good in many ways (wink)....

So come on let me hear you shout and let loose on those good vibes.

You know you want em'!

Just Because...J-Lo & A-Rod

J-Lo & A-Rod Sitting In A Tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G...
Just Because it's Monday, just because it's hot everywhere and I feel like making it hotter & just because they're both so pretty I present to you this image of sizzling couple Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez.

This is one of those pairings that publicists dream about. Both are rich, photogenic and hot, hot, hot! Not to mention buzz worthy. You never know a PR lackey may have actually got them together in the first darn place.

Look they even dress to the nines for a simple evening of dining out while in Miami, Florida. One of my least favorite cities in the United States for the record.

OK back to the subjects at hand. When was the last time a celebrity couple seemed so equal to one another in every little way I ask you?

Answer me, I'm waiting....

Hot Couple Alert! Reese Witherspoon & Mickey Mouse!

Hot Couple
Reese Witherspoon & Mickey Mouse

Reese Witherspoon was grinning like the Cheshire Cat as she was snapped with her date for the evening, the one and only Mickey Mouse at the red carpet opening of Planet Hollywood Disney Springs in Orlando, FL.

Reese looked adorable in a lacy red spring dress, while Mickey looked dapper in his signature tuxedo with yellow bow tie and read pants.

The two were thisclose for the event.

No word if there might be any mouse pups in their future. "Yes" mouse pup is a real thing. Google it.

Smiles everyone, smiles tomorrow is the first day of Spring, have a good one!

Deja Vu

From The Cher Playbook
Nicki Minaj
OK, Cher fans tell me what you see when you glance at this photo of Nicki Minaj shooting a video in Miami? If you thought Holy Shades of Cher I completely understand and relate as I did too!

Yes Darling Nicki there are those of us out there who recognize this look is a copy of one that the Goddess Cher donned back in her Sonny & Cher days. So that means we are basically old, and don't win any sort of prize other than the privilege to be smug.

Oddly no one has pointed this fact out with the blurbs that accompany this image on the WWW. My guess is either they are too young to know, or perhaps they do know and decided to let old people like myself have a smug time.

Whatever the case Cher wore it best and it shows Nicki has good taste in the inspiration department.

Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves indeed!

His Name Is Woodson

Woodson Michel is the new face of R&B music. Deeply inspired by Prince, R. Kelly, Dru Hill and the great Michael Jackson,

WM: Oh Yeah, I love Prince!

MS: What drew you to R&B music?

WM: Honestly? Gospel and R&B were always the most influential music in my life, I'm not gonna lie I am a sucker for love. (laughs)

MS: I love your first name it is unique, is there a reason behind it?

WM: There was a doctor named Woodson Carter, I know it's because of him that my Dad gave me my first name, but I am not clear on the exact reason why that is.

MS: Tell me was "She's Hot" inspired by someone in particular?

WM: Yeah, I saw Kelly Hu on TV in the "X-Men 2" and thought "she's hot".

MS: You like action movies?

WM: I love action movies!

MS: Rumor has it you began your career in Boston, MA. were you born there?

My Trashy Evening: For The Love Of "Garbage"

Photo: Buffy Thon
“I can't use what I can't abuse
And I can't stop when it comes to you” - “Vow” Garbage

It’s Tuesday, April 10, 2012. The Mission: Getting to one of two sold out shows for the triumphant return of Garbage at the El Rey in Los Angeles.

Shirley Manson, Shirley Manson, Shirley Manson…

My friend Buffy is in town from Florida scored the tickets and she is ready to rock and see LA.

First stop on our trashy evening is one of my favorite restaurants Palermo, a tasty Italian place in Los Feliz.

We are hungry and ready, our journey from the Beverly Garland in North Hollywood to our dining destination is flawless, we even got a parking spot right off.

Something isn’t right, Palermo is in lock down….Hmmmmmmmm…armed with her I Phone Buffy pulls up the data on Palermo. It’s closed on Tuesdays, WTF?! How random, who would have thought, most establishments are closed on Monday, if at all.

“C'mon push it, you can do it
C'mon prove it, nothing to it”… “Push It” Garbage

Armed with a craving for pasta we target a new destination: Osteria La Buca ….we will have our Italian pasta and eat it too! We get to OLB and are served some of the best effen pasta ever, a dish called Poppy Seed Tagliatelle w/oysters, mushroom, basil-butter, ricotta salata…can you say Yummy?!

While dining Buffy realizes the most important part of our evening’s mission, she forgot the tickets to get us into the El Rey to see Garbage back at her Hotel room…Ugh!

Shirley Manson, Shirley Manson, Shirley Manson…

Back to North Hollywood to The Beverly Garland, our objective? To get the tickets from the bowels of Buffy’s hotel room and still make in time to see Garbage.

“I think I'm paranoid And complicated
I think I'm paranoid Manipulate it” …”I Think I’m Paranoid” Garbage

Mission completed, directive? Over the hill to The El Rey to claim our reward.

We arrive find free parking (no one wants to pay $20 effen dollars for that sh!t)!

Saunter upstairs to the V.I.P. bar and grab an energy drink, Jack Daniels and Diet Coke please. We have arrived a mere ½ hour before Garbage takes the stage.

And take it they did! The show was amazing, Shirley Manson was magnetic the whole time and is one of the best female vocalists (according to me) ever!

Hey Garbage, you rule!

“I would die for you I would die for you
I've been dying just to feel you by my side, to know that you're mine” “I Would Die For You” - Garbage
