Moving 909s

Palette 71, Moving 909s, kicks off with legendary Warp artist Plaid on remix duties. Transforming the title track, re-synthesized 909 samples and Lua scripted sequencing, Plaid builds melodies and arrangement to epic proportions in classic Plaid fashion.

John Tejada’s new EP is an homage of sorts to the sample heavy production style of the late '90s. "Limiting the options and just creating and manipulating a batch of samples is my happy place,” says Tejada.
The title track hints back to a personal favorite, Optical’s 1997 gem, "Moving 808s." While the sound is quite different, the approach is similar: samples, editing, some filters and not a whole lot more opens up a lot of creative possibilities without too much getting in the way. Of course, the bass plays an important role. Combing through some older influences of varying styles, the production became more in line with Tejada classics like “Timebomb” and “Western Starland,” both sample collage pieces focused on groove.

The final track, "Infinity Room" also follows this production process while resulting in a slightly moodier sound

Got Milk?

Angelina Jolie
I have always had a fascination with the "Got Milk?" ads. As a non milk drinker (ugh!) this hard sell campaign featured celebrities at their most silly.

Can you imagine how over the moon I was that I came across this doozy with Angelina Jolie promoting Tomb Raider?! I love surfing the WWW because of the random things that I find while researching something else, it's awesome!

Thus with Maleficent: Mistress of Evil coming at ya October 18th I couldn't resist running this gem that is downright, well, goofy AF

Honestly though it does not look like Jolie posed for an actual "Got Milk?" ad. It does look like the studio took a still of her as Lara Croft and submitted it to the campaign to give the movie a PR boost.

Hmmmmmmm....I wonder if Disney will follow suit and we will see Jolie as Maleficent with a milk moustache? Now that's entertainment!

Burn Baby, Burn

Pretty Tongue Contest
Scott Eastwood & Cara Delevingne

Happy Labor Day from Burning Man! No, I'm not there, I  wish, but apparently Cara Delevingne & Scott Eastwood are.

Black Rock City, Nevada is a Hollywood hot bed, pun intended, this year with celebrities wanting to feel the burn (another intentional pun) and check out for a few days.

When Scott collided with Cara there he did what anyone else would do, took a photo for his Instagram account and posted it with this caption:

"Look at this little gem I found in the Burn. @caradelevingne I had an amazing time there. I recommend it to anyone who wants a life changing cultural experience that will expand your mind."
Mind expansion is the new black. Enjoy your Holiday!

"I Like You" Debby Holiday

One of my favorite singers and people, Debby Holiday is back with a new twist on a chart topping classic "I Like You."

The song celebrates the 30-year anniversary of Phyllis Nelson’s original. It was a #1 hit on the Billboard Dance Chart in 1985.

I checked in with Debby to get an exclusive comment for Entertain Me on her current gem:

"What an amazing journey this has been with Tony Moran. From the first phone call when he told me about the song - to our time in the studio & filming the video! Tony works with passion & focus like I do … & I'm thrilled to hopefully honor the beautiful & talented Phyllis Nelson. Music … what a blessing!"

Yes, it was Mr. Moran's idea to cover the Phyllis Nelson original and he asked Debby to do the honor. I for one am glad he did.

This is Ms. Holiday's third collaboration with Tony - hey if it ain't broke, keep going!

"Diamonds" NYU

Here is a gem (pun intended) of a song that a friend sent me for my Birthday they thought I would like, it's a cover of the Rihanna song "Diamonds" by students attending the Clive Davis Institute at New York University.

Rihanna could learn a thing or two, OK a whole lot from these talented musicians.

A very inspired cover from this group of students, and since it is my Birthday and I liked it, I am posting it on "Entertain Me".

Happy Birthday to me and to the rest of you an early Christmas present from me....ho ho ho... ; )
