Hump Day & Chill

Willi Gardner

Hello September, goodbye August blah, blah, blah...so let's Hump Day & Chill to the first day of the new month and to model Willi Gardner.

Willi comes to us straight outta Tye Briggs Favorite Hunks & Other Things. Why Willi on the first day of September you ask? Glad you did, while he isn't really my thing Tye chatted him up about his modeling career and why he chose to take it all off for the camera.

I enjoy reading the reasons why a model bares all and thus you got some Willi today.

So whether Willi floats your boat, or not. I am sure the interview will tickle your pickle.

It's time to Hump Day & Chill Minions...get it by clicking on the link below!!!

" A Nation Stands In Need..."

"Where Truth Is The Enemy..."
Jay Jacobson

The byline are the lyrics I am fixated on from Jay Jacobson's latest single These Troubled Times. If you have to ask why, you really haven't been paying attention to the world around you the last few days.

You may recall the interview I did with Jay when the single first dropped, if not, hit the link below:

http://mshinafelt.blogspot.com/2020/04/these-troubled-times.html

Jay just dropped a hauntingly beautiful and evocative video to accompany the song of our times.

Hit it after the jump! Stay at home and stay safe 💓

Danzig Sings Elvis

“His take on “One Night” — Presley’s foot-stomping rockabilly barnburner, which made it up to Number Four in 1957 — retains all the lustful passion of the original with gently buzzing guitar and as much glorious slap-back reverb as Danzig could find” - Rolling Stone Magazine

The wait is finally over as punk rock icon DANZIG releases his highly anticipated new album DANZIG Sings ELVIS today with Cleopatra Records. After crediting Elvis Presley as one of his greatest influences, DANZIG has wrapped up this eagerly-awaited full-length album, which is also available on vinyl.

While recording this project, it was important for DANZIG to not only include some well-known Elvis recordings, but also some that were not hits, but influential nonetheless. With tracks such as “One Night,” First In Line,” “Like A Baby,” popular versions of “Fever” and a haunting rendition of “Always On My Mind,” there is no denying, DANZIG cut no corners when creating this iconic record.

The first single to be released was “One Night,” which stays true to its classic Elvis foundation while exhibiting a modern alternative polish unlike anything fans would expect to hear. The single was exclusively premiered by Rolling Stone on April 9, giving everyone a glimpse into what this anticipated album will be like.

Now that it is time to shine for DANZIG Sings ELVIS, his loyal fans are being transported back to simpler times as DANZIG pays tribute to The King of Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley.

Saturday Sinema: Desolation Center

Desolation Center Hits Theaters Nationwide starting Friday, September 13th

I remember when punk was young...

Desolation Center, the indie music festival documentary which has played numerous film festivals worldwide, is set to begin a national theatrical rollout starting on September 13th in Los Angeles. The film is the untold story of a series of guerrilla music and art performance happenings in the 80s which inspired the birth of contemporary festival culture including Burning Man, Lollapalooza and Coachella. The film combines interviews of punk and post-punk luminaries with rare performance footage of Sonic Youth, Minutemen, Meat Puppets, Perry Farrell, Redd Kross, Einstürzende Neubauten, Survival Research Laboratories, Savage Republic and more, giving viewers unprecedented access to a time when pushing the boundaries of music, art, and performance was like an unspoken obligation. Directed by the creator and organizer of the original events, Stuart Swezey, Desolation Center tells the true story of how the risky, and at times even reckless, actions of a few outsiders were able to incite seismic cultural shifts.

The new theatrical cut of Desolation Center includes an interview with Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction and co-founder of Lollapalooza who was a participant in all of the Desolation Center events. The film will be having its New York City premiere as part of the Rooftop Films series with an outdoor screening in the historic Green-Wood Cemetery on Thursday, August 15th followed by a 50+ city run across North America in the following weeks.
White Punks On Dope?
The story of the guerrilla music and performance events of the Desolation Center is inextricably linked with the director's own story as a young adult in the punk and post-punk music scene in the early 1980s. Desolation Center is more than just the story of a series of wild and unorthodox happenings. The film is also true to the spirit of freedom and possibility that punk and its clarion call of creative deconstruction embodied.

The timeless power of DIY-do-it-yourself culture is an ongoing theme in the film. Director Stuart Swezey told the New York Times, "D.I.Y. is now a shorthand for a lot of things," he said. "But the idea that you can have a wacky idea and get a bunch of people to go along with it, and make it happen even with very limited resources - that was life-affirming."

The film explores an almost lost subcultural story that will also be a catalyst to future generations to question assumptions and carve out new possibilities to express themselves. As Thurston Moore also described to the New York Times, the mood was "one of complete joy and wonder at being together in a place that might as well have been another planet." He said the most radical attribute of Desolation Center was that "it asked no permission," and he called the show "one of the great moments" in the history of Sonic Youth.

Sonic Youth
Desolation Center has screened across the globe including the prestigious European CPH:DOX Film Festival in Denmark, Sheffield Doc/Fest in the UK and its US premiere at Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. More recently, it brought home Audience Awards at SF Indiefest and Chicago Underground Film Festival and was a selection of the Detroit Free Press Freep Festival screening at the Third Man Records store.

Concrete Heart

Kiss My Vassy
Vassy
Yesterday I received an E-mail from an artist who I interviewed seven years ago, "yes" seven years ago, about her album Beautiful Day for Chorus & Verse. Her name is Vassy - the correspondence was regarding her latest single Concrete Heart.

In case you would like to give the interview a read, even though dated, it's still fun! Here is the link:

https://www.chorusandverse.com/content.php?id=20120607A

Vassy is a sassy (Yeah, I made a rhyme on purpose) Aussie with talent to burn. Here is what she has to say about Concrete Heart...

"I'm so excited & proud to present to you my new song "CONCRETE HEART" Dedicated to my Father who passed away 16 years ago....... This is a song about Wanting to Love without Getting Hurt... We can all relate to being vulnerable ... I hope you Enjoy :)"

Spin the single right round here -

Film Buff Friday: Audition

The notorious "Audition" hits the streets on Blu-ray 2/12/19 - can you stomach it?!
One of the most shocking J-horror films ever made, Audition exploded onto the festival circuit at the turn of the century to a chorus of awards and praise. The film would catapult Miike to the international scene and pave the way for such other genre delights as Ichii the Killer and The Happiness of the Katakuris. Recent widower Shigeharu Aoyama is advised by his son to find a new wife, so he seeks the advice of a colleague having been out of the dating scene for many years. They take advantage of their position in a film company by staging an audition to find the perfect woman. Interviewing a series of women, Shigeharu becomes enchanted by Asami, a quiet, 24-year-old woman, who is immediately responsive to his charms. But soon things take a very dark and twisted turn as we find that Asami isn't what she seems to be... Pulling the audience into a story that will lead to one of the most harrowing climaxes in cinema history, Miike twists and turns us through delirious editing and shocking visuals for one of the most depraved nightmares of all time!

Hump Day & Chill

I'm Sailing Away...
Gene Carter
When I was a young impressionable gay boy I remember being fascinated, no make that fixated on Playgirl Magazine. For the uninitiated Playgirl was a magazine featuring articles like Playboy, but unlike Playboy the nude photo spreads were of men, not women, showing the Full Monty.

I used to wonder about the guys who posed for those spreads. Who they really were and how they felt about the whole thing. Much to my delight while surfing Tye Briggs Favorite Hunks & Other Things I came across quite a few follow-up interviews with former Playgirl models who have bared it all for the world to enjoy.

One interview in particular caught my interest, I think it had a lot to do with the model being straight as many models for Playgirl were gay men. It is from a layout done in 1975 with a then nineteen year old Gene Carter.

Gene did the chat with Tye in January of 2011 - it is a fascinating piece on a man in his 50's looking back on getting naked for an international magazine

So it's time for a retro Hump Day & Chill minions, click on the link below and get to it!

Hump Day & Chill

Who's That Guy
Guy Triche
"Yes" I know most of my minions are off work between now and the New Year but after spending time enjoying your Christmas Day in whatever capacity that was I still think one needs to take time to Hump Day & Chill.

Thus I bring you tall drink of water Guy Triche standing at six feet five inches and "No" the inches are not referring to his, that happens to be larger & quite nice for the record...anyway Guy will help you beat (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) the post Christmas blues. Or simply help you burn off some extra calories by clicking on the link to his naked photo shoot & interview below via Tye Briggs Favorite Hunks & Other Things.

Get to know Guy and how he feels about baring it all for you to see. "Yep" that question is addressed, there's even an image and a comment about his, um, excitement while doing so. If you know what I mean, and I think you do.

So get to it, your mission should you choose to accept it is to Hump Day & Chill. Click on the NSFW link below and let your fingers do the walking!!!

Things That Make U Go, WTF?!

WTF?!
Bella Thorne & Blackbear
When I first saw this photo I went "WTF?!" to me, myself and I. I really couldn't tell who it was or what was going down with in it.

Honestly, I still only sort of know now after reading about it. The pink lady in question is actress and beauty Bella Thorne of the Freeform show Famous in Love which I binge watched, it was OK, but Bella has what is referred to as the "it" factor and whether the show goes to a second season or not her career will go on.

Now to the gentleman with the box on his head, apparently he is a musician who goes by the name of Blackbear. WTF?! as in Who The F#ck is that? I mean I suppose I could do a Google search on him and find out something that would help me solve that mystery, but I really don't have enough interest to do that at present. Perhaps I will later, or perhaps not. My feeling is if I have to do that to know anything about you, then your publicist and yourself are not doing a proper job and maybe, just maybe there isn't anything worth finding out.

Yeah, I know sort of harsh, but unless I am going to interview him or have heard any music he has done....well, you get the picture.

So until I decide to do a search on him, Blackbear will be a "whatever" to me, and maybe that is for the best.

"Beautifully Squeezed Tube Of Toothpaste" Rihanna

Your Hand Is Like Blue Velevt
Rihanna & Chris Martin
Coldplay's consciously un-coupled frontman Chris Martin recently gave an in depth interview to The Guardian where he spoke quite highly of  Rihanna.

You know Rihanna, the music superstar who was featured on Colplay's Princess Of China? You know, her.

Well Martin came up with a strange/beautiful/WTF? analogy to describe Rihanna's voice.

It's like a "Beautifully squeezed tube of toothpaste" he said.

This is a huge compliment when you think about it. How many times has anyone ever used a tube of toothpaste squeezed in a way that would make you feel you did it "beautifully" and utilized the whole freakin' thing? Yeah, I thought not.

Wow! Wished Chris would have dispensed some of these gems about ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, but perhaps those analogies were not nearly as endearing.

"I'm Sick Of Your Lip" Jillian Barberie

Ouch!
Jillian Barberie
Jillian Barberie is one of my favorite people. She was generous enough to grant me an interview when she was hosting Good Day LA and I was just starting my writing career. So off I trotted to the GDLA green room at FOX she walked in and couldn't have been more gracious.

Sadly she is no longer on the local morning talk show, and needless to say I have stopped watching. But I have kept up with Jillian on Facebook and Twitter, naturally.

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with this dynamo here is her intro quote from her Facebook page:

"No hair extensions & my boobs are real. Take THAT LA! Oh & I'm in lotsa TV, movies & stuff."

Recently she lost a chunk of her lip to a Cocker Spaniel, and needed 10 stitches to fix the gash...Yikes!

Jillian, ever the animal lover and animal rights activist had this to say about it:

"Well, Last night (this morning) my friends dog took a big chunk out of my lip. 10 stitches later...Oh my beautiful face! It has been ruined!! LOL (kidding)

Surgeon said I'll be fine. I have other puncture wounds I didn't know I had because Doctor gave me something called Norco.

BTW: The dog wasn't being aggressive. As you know, I am a dog lover and took the risk. He had just lost his best friend last week, I was holding him and CRUNCH! There goes my beautiful, glamorous, sultry pouty lip! Too much I love you. LOL. Really, I'm gonna be fine."

Word on the Internet is that Jillian's sultry pouty lip is ready for it's comeback!

'Tis The Season For S-E-X With Pamela Anderson

So as the world probably knows, OK for sure they know. Pamela Anderson will appear as the cover model and pictorial for the last nude issue of the iconic magazine Playboy. Yeah, don't ask me why they are ending their wonderful balance between class & sass some financial expert must have advised Hugh Hefner on that. Best Wishes.

Let's get back to Pamela. In my estimation Playboy hailed the official queen of that magazine. The most perfect cover model/icon ever and someone who I greatly respect as a person.

Why you ask? Because I have interacted with her. "Yes" I did an interview with her for Instinct Magazine, for the now defunct column: The Chick We'd Switch For.

She was charming, sweet and very giving during our chat on the phone. She then invited me down to her book signing for Star, which she co-wrote. At The West Hollywood Book Fair. She loves her gays and it was an invitation I gladly accepted.

I was V.I.P. before anyone else, yeah hate me I didn't have to wait in line. She was sweet, remembered me from our phone conversation and even personalized a copy of Star with an autograph dedicated specifically to my Mom ( I gave it to her as a Christmas gift that year.)

Below I hope you can read it, is my interview with Ms. Anderson.

Have A Sexy Holiday Season!

Talk About Bum Cakes

Sharon Stone at 57!
Mark Abrahams/Harper's BAZAAR
"I'm aware that my ass looks like a bag of flapjacks" - Sharon Stone, Harper's Bazaar Magazine

One of my favorite actresses and boundary pushers Sharon Stone suffered a serious cerebral hemorrhage in 2001 - Thus resulting her marriage at the time falling apart and loss of the custody of her son Rowan. When she walked out of the hospital she didn't recall how to read which makes acting way more difficult since there are lines to be memorized.

She could not even remember her lines during her guest stint on Law & Order: SVU.

That did not stop the Stone from staging an epic comeback that includes her interview in Harper's Bazaar with a nude, that's right nude, photo shoot.

Sharon looks amazing at 57, and by the way your ass is looking more rock hard than like a bag of flapjacks, just sayin'!

Glad to have you coming back I've missed me some Sharon Stone.

Paint Your Nails For Bruce

Bruce Jenner & Diane Sawyer
Who knew that the simple everyday act of polishing one's nails could take on a larger meaning? Well it has...

Men are getting their Instagram & Tweet on and painting their finger nails in support of Bruce Jenner's transition to a woman.  #PaintYourNailsforBruce

The social media movement originated at KIIS 1065 in Sydney as a way to show solidarity with Jenner. Women are now joining the ranks as well.
The KIIS Gang!
Nail polish was the chosen symbol of oneness because as Bruce pointed out in his interview with Diane Sawyer

"I'd like to be able to have my nail polish on long enough that it actually chips off."

Bruce Jenner has had the full support of his family and friends behind him, with this he now knows people have his back worldwide.

I think I'll paint mine black  #PaintYourNailsforBruce

Lena Dunham Goes Full "Scandal"

Fan Girl, Lena Dunham & Kerry Washington
"Basically, my life's great passion is the idea of being a guest-star on Scandal,"  Lena Dunham creator and star of HBO's Girls recently confessed during an interview with Grantland's B.S.Report. "I want to be like, a senator who did something wrong."

Well Lena the Casting Fairy has granted your wish and you will be appearing on the drama this March.

No real details have been divulged, but I bet she is somehow connected with Olivia Pope & Associates, since everyone else in the world is a mere few degrees of separation from the agency headed by Kerry Washington as the "Pope" of Washington D.C.

Dunham reportedly wants to play an "evil character" - I hope so that would be juicy!

The Strange Familiar Will Never "Surrender"

"Love Keeps Us Marching On" - Surrender, The Strange Familiar

This is a refrain from the awesome song and current video Surrender by The Strange Familiar, from their amazing album The Day The Light Went Out. Check out the excerpt from the interview I did with front woman Kira Leyden Andrea about it below.

MS: It's a good message. All the songs do fit together well, "Surrender" was a particular favorite of mine.

KLA: Very cool, that's actually my favorite. We are going to shoot a video for that one, that is our next big thing, to try and get that video done. (laughs)

This album is the band's best effort to date, which came from a place of great struggle and ultimately hope that the they went through, check out my full length interview with Kira after the jump -

http://mshinafelt.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-day-light-went-out-strange-familiar.html

Surrender is a "never give up" type of song that achieves it's goal. Kira's vocals are powerful and raw, and the video astutely reflects the honesty of the lyrics. If you are not "familiar" with these guys yet, it's time you were...
                                                                    "Surrender"
