Michael's Musings

Let Love Rule!
Myself & J.M. Rich

Wow! What a motherf#cking week! Las Vegas will prevail. Yet the lives lost and people affected are unconscionable.

So this weeks tone is provocative (yeah OK, every week is) Can't we say and do anything we want at present? The jerk off who is "running" our country seems to think so. Thus if the image of tender affection between two men I posted of myself and J.M. Rich offends you. Seek serious mental help.

Moving on up I presume.

Luckily I did not lose anyone in the Las Vegas shooting. But I do have friends who did. WTF?!

Sunday Sinema: Grace Jones "Vamp"

My Name Is "Kinky Katrina" I'll Be Your Bloodsucker Tonight
Grace Jones

Grace Jones as a vampire in Keith Haring make-up = awesome!!!
Vamp [Blu-ray] (October 4th)

THE FIRST KISS COULD BE YOUR LAST!

Two fraternity pledges head to a seedy part of town to find some entertainment for their college friends but are faced with bloodthirsty vampires! Keith (Chris Makepeace, Meatballs) and AJ (Robert Rusler, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge) want to make the right impression at college and so they devise a plan to get them into the best frathouse on campus. They head to the After Dark Club where they want to find a stripper for a party their friends won't forget, instead they find themselves among vampires led by Kinky Katrina (Grace Jones, A View to a Kill)!

Almost certainly an influence on From Dusk til Dawn, Vamp is superbly designed by many of Grace Jones' own award-winning collaborators and features stunning effects by four-time Oscar winner Greg Cannom (The Lost Boys, Bram Stoker's Dracula). Delivering laughs and scares in equal measure, with the added bonus of vampy sex appeal, Vamp is a comedy horror romp with real bite!

R.I.P: Chrissy Amphlett "Pleasure and Pain"

Chrissy Amphlett
The 53-year-old Australian singer died at her home in New York City after a battle with breast cancer and multiple sclerosis.

My first exposure so to speak to the music of The Divinyls was a kinky little ditty bearing the title "Pleasure and Pain":

"Please don't ask me how I've been getting off, No, Please don't ask me how I've been getting off ,It's a fine line between pleasure and pain, You've done it once, you can do it again"...

Needless to say the Divinyls had me at the title. I rushed out and bought the "What A Life" album on, time to date my oldness, cassette, and loved it!

Of course that was sort of an indie/edgy/underground type of song, their biggest hit "I Touch Myself" a blatant ode to masturbation was huge...I guess because it did not involve the "Pain" part with the "Pleasure".

Chrissy had one of the best pop rock voices ever! Her delivery cut like a knife no matter what she was singing.

Not to be crass, but from the sounds of her death she was living the title of my favorite Divinyls song "Pleasure and Pain" let's hope there was some of the former mixed in with the later, her body is now at rest. Hey Chrissy, I hope you are still kicking vocal ass in the great beyond...!
