Hump Day & Chill

Queen Kylie

It's mid-week and time for a little Tension relief, thus what better way to Hump Day & Chill than to have a martini with the Queen of Tension, Kylie Minogue!

Ms. Minogue is after all the highest selling Australian female artist of all time. Her singing career is 36 years young. "Yes" Minions Kylie has been churning out hit singles for that many years and then some.

Nothing like holding court with a Queen is there? I thought not.

Her current hit album is titled Tension, in case you didn't know. Thus my Tension references right out of the box.

It's time now, grab yourself a martini (gin or vodka) and join Kylie in a Tension free Hump Day & Chill toast. We've made it to the middle and you've earned it!

Dream Team

Duet, Duet Now!
Kylie Minogue & Madonna

With her resurgence in popularity Kylie Minogue has been making a lot of noise of late on the musical front as well as with regard to her desire to duet with Madonna.

Not so coincidentally all this commotion is happening during Pride Month. Usually when something like this keeps showing up in the press it means there is either something already finished and the pot is being stirred or there is something in the works. Trust me either way it means it is a done deal.

Personally never have I ever entertained the thought of this at any given point in my gay existence.

I must also confess I have zero feeling about it happening one way or the other. Duets are tricky and usually don't work out for the most part. However these two could pull off something that could make me eat my musical opinion.

So tell us ladies when is this coming out, because you know you are doing it so let's hear it post haste.

We're waiting...

Silly Saturday

Mahna, Mahna
Kylie Minogue & Some Friends
Today I am feeling light and breezy, "No" definitely not easy and breezy...

Thus this image of Pop Superstar Kylie Minogue with The Muppets is exactly what one needs to take in on a Silly Saturday. I feel silly, oh so silly I feel silly and witty and bright. And I pity anyone who isn't me today!

Kylie took some time out to be a special guest on The Muppets Take The 02 in London, England recently and it looks like she had a blast. Thus in return I have put you all on blast that she is now Queen of the Muppets - Ha! Kidding, or am I.

Don't you love a good secret? Of course you do. Especially when it's Kylie Minogue's .

The tone has been set for the day, enjoy it!

A Need For Speed

Fast Car
Kylie Minogue
"No one wants to stay at home, Nobody wants to be alone, When you come knocking, I’ll be at your door" - Dancing, Kylie Minogue

No truer words were sung and Ms. Minogue certainly practices what she sings. Case in point here she is seen riding shotgun with Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag in the BMW i8 Safety Car during the Santiago ePrix.

Apparently she felt a need for speed on this particular day, but with her upcoming album Golden, not so much.

All we know is it will be out sometime in 2018, well that could mean the end of the year for all we know given the vague time frame.

C'mon Kylie your fans are waiting and like you, they have a need for speed as well!

Iconoclast: Nick Cave

20,000 DAYS ON EARTH
The Acclaimed Film About Iconic Musician NICK CAVE
On Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download on November 18th

Ever since someone introduced me to Nick Cave's and the Bad Seeds album "Tender Prey" I have been a fan. My favorite album by him? "Murder Ballads" which to me contains the best song Kylie Minogue ever sang "Where The Wild Roses Grow," I have posted the video for it in this piece. I am psyched for this to come out...T.G.I.F!

"Hypnotic and introspective... An intelligent and revealing look at one of rock's last true iconoclasts" -Entertainment Weekly

"An intense and innovative study of pioneering rock poet Nick Cave"
Variety

"Smart and deliriously strange... thrilling to behold"; 5 stars.
Time Out NY

"It's right up there with the best rock documentaries. That is, if you can call it a documentary."
San Francisco Chronicle

The adventurous life and creative process of Renaissance man of rock Nick Cave are revealed in the exhilarating 20,000 Days on Earth. The award-winning film, which has received a remarkable, near-perfect rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, comes to Blu-ray and DVD on November 18, 2014, from Drafthouse Films, in conjunction with Cinedigm (NASDAQ: CIDM). Both the Blu-ray and the DVD are loaded with extra features and have SRPs, respectively, of $29.23 and $24.99. The film will also be available on VOD & Digital Download day and date.

20,000 Days on Earth is an inventive, lyrical ode to creativity and an intimate examination of the artistic impulses of Australian-born musician and cultural icon Nick Cave. In their debut feature, directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard fuse drama and documentary, weaving a staged day in Cave's life with never-before-seen vérité observations of his creative cycle. It features those who have affected his life, including wry tales from the road shared with his regular collaborator, the multi-instrumentalist Warren Ellis; actor and friend Ray Winstone; and Kylie Minogue, who shared a duet with Cave in the breakout hit "Where the Wild Roses Grow." These voices from the past revisit Cave in daydream-like scenes as he sits behind the wheel, driving through his adopted hometown of Brighton, England.
                                               Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue

Neither an outright music documentary nor a concert film, 20,000 Days on Earth nevertheless contains electrifying performances. Audiences see a song grow from the tiniest of ideas to an epic performance at the Sydney Opera House. Cave also opens up to a psychoanalyst as he discusses how his early years continue to inform his work, and journeys through his memories via mementos from his personal archive. This category-defying film pushes the form into new territory, exploring universal themes about artistry and celebrating the transformative power of the creative spirit.
A writer and performer of emotionally intense and lyrically bold songs, Nick Cave has been making music for more than 40 years. He has written and published more than 250 songs as the lead singer of the Birthday Party, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Grinderman. He's also an acclaimed film score composer, screenwriter, novelist and occasional actor.

Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard have worked extensively with Cave on various projects over the past seven years and know him well. Cave says, "I've always liked their unorthodox approach to things and on a personal level we have always gotten on very well. I invited them into La Fabrique Studios to film some promotional footage for [the 2013 album] Push the Sky Away. As it turned out, in the end, they shot everything and the studio footage was so compelling we decided to expand the idea."

The film has received widespread acclaim from critics. Michael O'Sullivan of The Washington Post said, "For the uninitiated, it offers a demonstration of what is so mesmerizing about this performer, who is by, his own description, 'a kind of ostentatious bastard.' " Ray Pride of Newcity wrote, "This bold, unique gem is bright, funny, brooding, hopeful, momentarily visionary, a wounded beauty exploring the creative process in a fresh and oft-brilliant fashion." It's "a documentary clothed in the robes of a dream," praised Daniel Walber of Nonfics. Joe Gross of the Austin American-Statesman wrote, "Visual artists and first-time feature directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard have given [the film] a potent mix of the raw and the cooked."

A Drafthouse Films theatrical release, 20,000 Days on Earth was an Official Selection at numerous film festivals in 2014, including Sundance (where it won for Best Directing and Best Editing), Berlin, San Francisco, New Directors/New Films and the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival.

Running With "Scissor Sisters"

Scissor Sisters: Live in Victoria Park - London 2011
on DVD Feb 19
Brand new concert from London's Lovebox Festival,
released for the first time ever on DVD!

According to the Chinese New Year, 2013 is my year! Yes I am the year of the snake.....woot!

So how fitting that this year would give birth to the release of a concert DVD from one of the best bands I have ever seen live, because like tits, you can not see the Scissor Sisters on the radio either!

Here they come on DVD, are you ready?! Scissor Sisters: Live in Victoria Park! Yep, it's going to be a great 2013!

The Scissor Sisters certainly need no introduction, having toured around the world, collaborated with the likes of Elton John and Kylie Minogue and sold millions of albums. Bono from U2 describes the band as "the best pop group in the world."

Every one of their 4 albums reached the top 5 in the UK charts, with their first two albums making the #1 spot. Their most commercially successful single, I Don't Feel Like Dancin' (2006), charted at #1 in the UK and throughout Europe. They have released 18 singles to date.

This brand new DVD contains the stunningly electrifying performance from the Scissor Sisters at Victoria Park in London, on 17 July 2011. Colourful and glitzy as ever, the New York outfit who brought garish costumes and twisted disco sounds to the capital, fully embraced the weekend's flamboyant spirit.
