Hello From The Other Side...Current Mood

Regina George
Mean Girls

Happy Post Turkey Day and such. If your like me Regina George best sums up the collective Current Mood out there.

As If! You aren't all feeling like sweatpants are all that fit you presently. Confess it, it's true!

Well I don't know about you, but after a satisfying TG I'm immediately back to watching what I eat. Yeah, I can flip a switch like that.

What's that you say? What did I eat? Well before I had TG dinner late afternoon early evening I indulged in this great individual flat bread sausage and mushroom pizza from Vons. Then the traditional TG dinner complete with pumpkin pie.

Thus today I shall don sweatpants...

Mean Girls Day

Iconic
Lindsay Lohan & Jonathan Bennett

It's October 3rd - Happy Mean Girls Day! For those of you who may not know why Mean Girls Day is today, look no further than the meme I posted above, it's self explanatory.

Who knew when Mean Girls came out that it would become such an iconic film and cement Lindsay Lohan as a 100% bona fide star? Raise your hand if you did, mine is raised FYI.

Seriously who couldn't love this movie, with it's wit, insight and being of the moment Mean Girls was, and still is "So Fetch!"

Mainly due to star Tine Fey's spot on script and Mark Waters direction. "Yes" Mean Girls is a film that has endured for over a decade and boasts a great cast that brought it with memorable performances.

So join me won't you in celebrating all that is mean.

PS Never forget "On Wednesdays we wear pink..."

Quarantine Coffee

Looking for something fresh and fun during the theses days of Wine & Corona? Well Jonathan Bennett & Jaymes Vaughn are bringing it to ya in the form of their stay at home live talk show Quarantine Coffee.

Most of you remember Jonathan as Aaron Samuels from the iconic film Mean Girls. His co-host Jaymes is straight outta Celebrity Page TV on Reelz. Together they are hitting us with some much needed levity at a time and place where we all need it...bad!!!

"Yes" I have watched a few episodes and the thing I enjoy most about these guys is the accessibility and warmth they generate. They make you feel like you are imbibing in a cup of Quarantine Coffee right there with them.

So, what are you waiting for?! Watch the first episode after the jump!

Monday Motivation

"I'm A Mouse, Duh!"
Gus Kenworthy
With the completely bonkers American Horror Story: 1984 in full force I thought to myself What better Monday Motivation than one of it's stars Gus Kenworthy doing his take on the "Slut Mouse" from Mean Girls?"

I mean who could forget Amanda Seyfried's Karen Smith in nothing buy lingerie and tiny mouse ears uttering "I'm a mouse, duh!" Seriously, you really can't un-see that...and who better to do a male take on it, shirtless and oh so slutty, than Gus?

With his body I would go shirtless as often as possible, Hell I'd go completely naked as much as possible if I looked him! Fortunately Mr. Kenworthy has gotten naked for us in photos that bare his supple booty.

So file this under Monday Motivation: Halloween Goals. "Yes" I know I will never own a body like Gus', but I will trim off the little bit of extra baggage I put on after my surgery (it really wasn't that much) and next Halloween I will be a shirtless "Vampire Slut" because being a "Slut Mouse" is for major league studs, like Gus, not DILF's like me.

Happy Pride!

Proud
Jonathan Bennett
For those of you living over the rainbow, instead of under it, the month of June is official Pride Month. Today is the Los Angeles Pride Parade held in the city of West Hollywood. Thus I thought I would take today and do a special Pride shout out. Oh, and I will be attending the parade as well, because I love a parade...! 😄

So here is a Proud image that caught my attention in a fun way. Well I am sure most of you have seen the movie Mean Girls. They wore pink on Wednesdays for those of you out of the loop. Here we have out Mean Girls star Jonathan Bennett wearing a T-Shirt with a Pride take on the wearing pink thing.

"Yes" Wednesdays are now for wearing rainbows, you know how that connection goes.

Anyway, Happy Pride minions, keep on keeping!

Coupling: Jonathan Bennett & Jaymes Vaughan

Goose & Maverick
aka
Jaymes Vaughan & Jonathan Bennett

Aaron Samuels was "So Fetch" in Mean Girls who didn't have a crush on him?! I know I did, and "yes" Gretchen Weiners I am still trying to make "Fetch" happen for you.

Too bad Cady Heron you didn't land him, and neither did I, boo F#cking Hoo! That honor goes to Amazing Race contestant and TV host Jaymes Vaughan.

Yep, Jonathan Bennett aka Aaron "Fetch" Samuels and his guy Jaymes went as Goose & Maverick from Top Gun for Halloween. It got posted on Bennett's Instagram, naturally.

Only one last question does Aaron like to be Top Gun, or perhaps...yeah, moving on from my bad self.

Wishing you guys the best!

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

Colorful, As Always
Pink
Hey all you "Mean Girls" out there it's Wednesday, hope you have your pink on, while I am not wearing pink, I am bringing the pink as in Pink the singing superstar!

She was caught looking just as colorful as her namesake in New York City recently. Pink has been keeping a pretty low profile, but has been seen out and about and been performing more recently.

Cheers that she is planning something big and the world will become Pink and we just live in it.

We could all use some of her dynamic singing and performing again in these obtuse times.

It's Wednesday and I am definitely bringing my Pink game to the table.

Ciao!

"So Fetch" Lindsay Lohan & Jonathan Bennett

Discussing Math Equations?
Lindsay Lohan & Jonathan Bennett
Everyone loves the movie Mean Girls, right? I know I personally do. Well yesterday this happened Lindsay Lohan hooked-up with her co-star from it Jonathan Bennett, via a FaceTime conversation, Regina George must be so jealous that she went out and boinked Shane Owen in the projection booth upon hearing the news.

"Yes" Aaron Samuels and Cady Heron are reunited and it feels so grool!

The screen shot is courtesy of Lindsay and her Instagram page. Wonder what these two were talking about? It couldn't have anything to do with October 3rd, because the exchange took place on October the 6th. Seriously you two get it together!

Whatever they spoke about it's nice to know the two co-stars still keep in touch. It gives us a nice warm fuzzy feeling like the color pink on Wednesdays.

As Gretchen Wieners would say "T.G.I.F! hope your weekend is so fetch!"

OK, I have made an executive decision. Due to the popularity of this column I hereby decree my musings will now be posted every Thursday. No more Throwback Thursday for this guy. Now every TBT you are going to get my impressions of the past week heading into the weekend.

No tricks here, time for a treat!

A shout out to Ms. Summer Rudolph, my cousin who I have not seen in...yeah you get the picture. Loved connecting again at Marix Tex Mex in West Hollywood, CA. Grrrrrrrrrl you rock!

"Boo, You Whore!" Mean Girls 10 Years Later

10 Years Later: L - R Lacey Charbet, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried
Lindsay Lohan & Tina Fey
Photo: Ruven Afanador for Entertainment Weekly

Regina George: I gave him everything... I was half a virgin when I met him!

Yes as all of us Mean Girls fans know the movie is officially 10 years old. "That's so fetch" - hey I am still trying to make that happen for you Gretchen Wieners and guess what? It still hasn't. Sorry I tried.

Mean Girls is a cultural phenomena, and every October the 3rd, when I get asked what day it is I give a swoon to the person posing the question in honor of Aaron Samuels

Recently Entertainment Weekly got the stars of the film: Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Charbet & it's creator Tina Fey together for a reunion photo shoot and interview.

In it they posed the question to each of the "girls" where they thought their character would be in the 10 years post High School, as in right now.

Here are their answers. Enjoy, while I work on my Burn Book, I'm so "plastic."
Source: Entertainment Weekly
THE FUTURE
SEYFRIED: Karen would manage or own a store that sells really cool dog attire, like Swarovski dog collars and Halloween costumes for animals. She’s probably really focused.
LOHAN: Cady’s with Oprah in Africa working at children’s schools with a family, teaching girls to be nice to each other.
CHABERT: Gretchen is probably running the Toaster Strudel empire. She is probably married and has, like, seven babies right now. She and Jason worked it out. She has very big curly hair.
McADAMS: Regina is a Real Housewife. She’d have too much time on her hands, for sure. She’s probably found all her other Reginas.

Called Out! Rachel McAdams Is A Class Act

Keeping It Real: Rachel McAdams

Although they have had wildly different careers - Rachel McAdams proves what I have always suspected about her, she is a class act.

When the subject of her Mean Girls co-star, Lindsay Lohan came up in a recent chat she spills that she was in fact "in awe" of her.

Ms. McAdams told Allure Magazine  for their August issue that she was impressed by Lohan's natural ability. "I looked at her as this experienced actor, and she had great comedic timing, so natural. It's just funny to hear that because you never know what people are thinking. We all try to act like we've got it together."

As far as her own career? McAdams is looking forward to a roller coaster ride. "I'm hoping it's going to be complicated and have lots of dead ends and corners and sharp turns. I hope it can't be summed up too easily when I'm done."

Love it! Thanks Rachel when asked about working with someone you kept it real and didn't dish. You also let everyone know that nobody's ride is smooth in the world of show biz no matter what public perception is...Signed, A Fan For Life!

Wanna Be Popular? Get It With Darren Stein's "G.B.F."

Look, Caught In A Popularity War, It's The "G.B.F.!"

Hey? Have you heard about the latest must have have Teen Queen accessory, The G.B.F.? Well in case you have been living under a rock...

"The acronym G.B.F. stands for “Gay Best Friend” which has recently been deemed the
hottest new fad at North Gateway High School; the Queen Bees need a G.B.F.! But there is
one big problem: none of the gay guys at their posh suburban high school are out of the
closet. The vicious lady monarchs of the school, a.k.a. the three lead prom queen
candidates, are not going to let this minor glitch get in their way; a G.B.F. is just what they
need to give them that edgy, high-fashion appeal and win over the ultimate prize: the high
school popularity crown."

Here to tell us more juicy details is the Director of  "G.B.F." and the cult hit "Jawbreaker" Darren Stein!

MS: Hey Darren I really enjoyed "G.B.F." you and writer George Northy are really simpatico.

DS: Yes, it definitely felt like something I could have written. It's not like I'm only out to make "Teen Films" it's about the characters and the story a script tells, and this is a story I wanted to tell.

MS: One of the things I am quite shocked by is "G.B.F." got an "R" rating.

Director, Darren Stein
DS: That was unfortunate. We definitely went out of our way in the writing and the direction to make sure th film had a "PG-13" tone. It was never my intention to make an "R" rated movie, I made one before, and this is not that.

MS: It really wasn't. There was a gay scene on "Scandal" that was more explicit than anything in your movie.

DS: Well I was told that when it comes to ratings the MPAA is really behind TV. I was even told by our MPAA consultant that they are harsher on films with gay content or characters. My opinion on what "hurt" "G.B.F." from the beginning was it was a High School Movie that told it's story from a gay perspective. The fling is still intense, but I think because it is a gay oriented fling it's more taboo.

MS: Wow! I really like your use of actors making cameos in the film. I'm a teenager of the 80's, like yourself. I  Loved the Jonathan Silverman and Megan Mullally cameos.

DS: Jonathan brought so much soulfulness to his role he was awesome! I've always been a fan, but when I got to work with him I was truly blown away by his talent.

MS: I agree, Jonathan's role is such a small one, but you remember it.

DS: Megan was really great too!

MS: Sasha Pieterse was a draw to the film for me as I am a big "Pretty Little Liars" fan.

DS: She is so brilliant. Sasha has this wiseness that is beyond her years, and she is gracious, intelligent and lovely. When she started "Pretty Little Liars" she was really young, I think she is eighteen now. They were looking to potentially cast her as "Hanna" but because of her age they couldn't, I would work with her again in a heartbeat, she brings so much loveliness to the role.

MS: It's nice to see the flip side of her talent, because on "Pretty Little Liars" she is a total bitch.

DS: Her character "Fawcett" is really sweet. It's a twist in the movie that she's a bitch at school, but she makes conditioners and shampoos in her bathroom. She's the science nerd at home, that's so not "R" rated, you know?

Get Yourself One!
MS: Yeah, I agree, the only other reason I can think of that you got slapped with an "R" rating is the content regarding the Mormon Religion, but...

DS: There is the scene where the Mormon character grabs "Tanner's" hand and puts it on his crotch and says "Does this feel straight to you?" Like I said the level of playing and sexual situations are not anymore extreme than other "PG-13" straight films. It's because it takes place between guys, like you said "Scandal" is more provocative with the gay content, but it's also adults, "G.B.F." is teenagers.

MS: "G.B.F." is the kind of movie, as gay men, you or I wished we had when growing up. Younger gay guys today have it a lot different than we did.

DS: Yeah, they live in an all access world. Which is why I think the screenplay is great, because screenwriter George Northy is a whole decade younger than me. To read lines like "I knew how to clear the Internet History when I was twelve" - It's like "I don't know how to clear the Internet History now!" (laughs)

MS: I don't either! (laughs)

DS: One of the great things about "G.B.F." is it presents a typical High School mainstream romance, like "Mean Girls." Yet it's from this gay protagonist and his perspective, I think it's important. I think people are going to look back at it ten years from now and see it was the first film to do that and had a tiny little release. (laughs)

"G.B.F." Hits select theaters and Video On Demand this Friday January 17th

R.I.P: Lisa Robin Kelly

Lisa Robin Kelly

Lisa Robin Kelly passed away from problems having to do with addiction today, although she had only copped to alcohol addiction in the past, judging by the recent photo I have seen of her, I suspect drugs might have been involved.

She will always be known best for her role as Laurie Forman - Eric Forman's older sister on "That 70's Show".

Creative people in general tend to be predisposed to alcohol and drug abuse and Lisa was no exception. The lucky ones are able to beat their demons, unfortunately her demons got hold of her before she tamed them.

Let's remember Lisa as the vibrant human being she was, someone who entertained us all as one of the best "Mean Girls" on TV.
The "That 70's Show" Gang

Thank You, Lisa Kelly for bringing Laurie Forman to life, the character and the show will live on in syndication and our memories forever.

Peace.

TV Watch: Lindsay Lohan Takes On Taylor

Lindsay Lohan & Grant Bowler as Taylor & Burton
Alright people, it's time I chimed in on this, everyone seems to be down on Lindsay Lohan's casting as icon Elizabeth Taylor.

First off we have not seen her actual performance, so STFU until you do, then judge. That being said Lohan has proven herself a credible actress, of course I could site one of my fave movies of all time "Mean Girls" and as a matter of fact I just did....but let's go to this place "Prairie Home Companion" anyone? Where she played Meryl Streeps daughter and held her own against the amazing Meryl, thank you very much.

Now let's address those who think Lindsay is not "classy" enough to play Elizabeth Taylor. Like Taylor, Lindsay is human and has made many mistakes along the way, what Elizabeth Taylor does not walk on water?!

Uh, no actually, she was human too just like Linds, which is why I think Lindsay is going to bring it on in her portrayal.

The real Taylor & Burton

They were both child actresses, no easy path, from other examples we have seen in the media, besides Ms. Lohan.

Elizabeth Taylor was a pariah during her time too for her adulteress affair with then married Richard Burton.

Dear Elizabeth also abused alcohol and prescription pills, most likely even up to her later years, anyone remember her loopy presentation on the Golden Globes to "Gladiator" for Best Picture?

I am certainly not one to live in a glass house and throw stones like most people, nor do I have a selective memory, like the masses, I do remember all of these things about Ms. Taylor that everyone else seems to be choosing to ignore in favor of America's favorite pastime, Lindsay bashing.

That being stated, I think Elizabeth Taylor was a great broad and her kindness and humanitarian efforts will be her legacy. We are all human and flawed and Lindsay is no exception, I hope she nails the role of a Lifetime (yes, pun intended) and gets herself back on track.

Elizabeth's legend will continue to shine, why not give Ms. Lohan the same chance to re-invent her life?

It's A Beautiful "Sunrise" With Liana Conway

One listen to Liana Conway’s smooth, irresistible, confident voice, and you will be shocked to learn that she is a mere 21 years old.

With a brash, happy confidence, the Massachusetts native’s soulful vocals brings to mind cool breezes, ocean waves hitting the shore and sunny skies. Liana’s debut full length CD is the aptly titled: SUNRISE.

Get ready to smile it’s time for my one on one with Ms. Liana Conway !

MS: Hey Liana, I was going over your bio just before you called something that I thought was really cool is one of your inspirations was a soul collection that your Dad had.

LC: Yeah, it was one of those Time/Life compilation tapes, I used to play it everywhere in my little red & yellow cassette player.

MS: Any particular favorite you had off of the compilation?

LC: I have to say there were a couple of Temptations songs that I really loved. It was the first time I had ever heard “Build Me Up Buttercup” here I am this little 3 year old bopping along to it. (laughs) There was so much great Pop/Soul music on there, I used to stand on my bed and belt it out! (laughs) I was a 3 year old, you know. (laughs)

MS: “Word Vomit” is what you called the musings in your journal that inspires your songs, which I found hilarious, you must be a fan of the movie “Mean Girls.”

LC: Yes, I have to admit I have seen it a few times. Funny you should pick up on that.

MS: That’s one of my favorite movies too, except I know you were much younger when it came out.

LC: I was in High School.

MS: Well then, you were younger. (laughs) You are only 21, that’s amazing, do you write all your own lyrics based on your “word vomit”? (laughs)

LC: (laughs) Some of them are mine, some of them are my producers and some we collaborate on. I’m always writing, first and foremost I am a songwriter. Being a performer and an artist kind of fell into my lap. I have always loved writing, when I first picked up a guitar I started writing songs, and put lyrics to music. I then ended up hooking up with my music producer via a mutual friend of the family. He heard my stuff and asked me to come out to Los Angeles and record a demo last year, that turned into an album and her I am. (laughs)

MS: How about performing?

LC: Well, I have to say now that I have started doing it, I have definitely gotten the performing bug. (laughs)

MS: I caught the video of you performing “You Baby” that’s very sunny, ever write anything dark?

LC: That’s funny, I am basically a very bubbly happy person. Everyone has that dark side and I am a very emotional person. When I was on the phone with my Mom yesterday, about my boy problems, and I just stopped and said: “Mom, I am absolutely crazy.” When I process my emotions, one minute I am flying high, the next minute I am crying in my bedroom. I recorded a lot of stuff that did not make the album, recording my first album has inspired me to write a lot more.

MS: Extrapolate.

LC: Recently I went through a break-up with someone I have know since I was 14. It was tough for the both of us, so yeah I do write some dark material, I have always been a writer, before I even picked up a guitar. Some of the past things I have written in my journal have really scared me. (laughs) I’m all over the map.

MS: Most everyone is.

LC: We’re all kind of crazy I guess. (laughs)

MS: Let’s talk your latest single “Beautiful Day” is it out yet?

LC: Yes, it is, it just got to radio and we are building it up right now, by starting the radio tour this week. It’s very exciting!

MS: How’s the video coming along, when do we get to see it?

LC: They just gave me the final cut of it, I am very excited, I watched it, like 19 times, I’m feeling very narcissistic, (laughs) it should be out in the next couple of weeks.

MS: Cool!

LC: All my friends and family are like: “We want to see it”!

MS: We do! Anyone in particular you would like to do a duet with?

LC: This is funny, I always get asked this question and there are so many people out there.

MS: Give me the name that would make you faint the most.

LC: Ryan Adams. I just want to talk with him, I would love to write with him, my feeling is he is as wired, as I am. My dream is to write with him, he is a huge inspiration to my music.
