Yep, I think the today's byline says it all, don't you? While she did not get nominated for her top notch performance as a PTSD survivor in Halloween, 2018 was indeed Jamie Lee Curtis' year.

Without her the forty year follow-up to the original Halloween would have been nothing. She was the key reason it was a success, that and good film making by David Gordon Green.

I know first hand that as many Halloween fans attended, there were a lot of people I know who said they were compelled to see it simply because Jamie Lee was in it. Oh, and many of these individuals had not seen the original. Really it wasn't necessary to enjoy this roller coaster which really could stand on it's own two feet without having viewed the 1978 classic.

The film was a huge hit and proved women of a certain age, over fifty can be a box office draw. In fact the biggest feather in Curtis' cap is that she had the biggest opening weekend at the box office starring a female lead over the magic number.

While she is simply presenting at this weekends Golden Globes, Jamie Lee is one of the true winners of 2018, acting award (which she does deserve IMHO) or not, Jamie Lee came, saw, conquered and won!

$22 million Lightning Rod is world's fastest, first launching wood coaster
 

I'm going to be Travelin' Thru and hitching a ride on this coaster...! Dollywood today announced the addition of Lightning Rod, both the world’s fastest wood coaster and the world’s first launching wood coaster. Set to roll to the starting line in March 2016, Lightning Rod adds another groundbreaking roller coaster to the park’s already impressive portfolio of world-class attractions. The thrilling $22 million ride also marks the single largest attraction investment in The Dollywood Company’s history. Themed after a tricked out 1950s-era hot rod, Lightning Rod launches riders from zero to 45 mph more than 20 stories up its lift hill to one of the ride’s first airtime moments. At the crest of the hill, riders face twin summit airtime hills before tackling the daring first drop. Lightning Rod races down the 165-foot drop and propels guests along its 3,800-ft. track to a top speed of 73 mph, the fastest speed for a wood coaster in the world. “Lightning Rod reminds me so much of those colorful cars cruisin’ up and down Main Street in downtown Sevierville back when I was in high school. During the ride, guests experience nearly 20 seconds of airtime. The coaster train is comprised of 12 cars, carrying two passengers each, for a total of 24 people per train. Dollywood’s development team has tapped Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) as the ride manufacturer. RMC is no stranger to out-of-the-box coaster projects, having designed a number of innovative attractions around the world. Lightning Rod employs several unique features including the lift hill launch, twin summit airtime hills, a 90+ degree banked breaking wave turn, a 90+ degree outside banked turn, and a non-inverting half loop. Lightning Rod puts riders in the driver’s seat of Johnny Rev’s newest hot rod. TBT - Pretty Little Liars: The Dark Ride

This one goes out specifically to my fellow Pretty Little Liars fan and niece Ms. Shauna Waters.

Nothing said Halloween quite like the PLL episode The Dark Ride, season 3 episode 13. All the girls were on a train for a celebration of all that is spooky and creepy. Well you of course know who shows up to seal that deal, "A!" 

Since Hanna Marin is my niece Shauna's favorite character on the show, and she was on board the terror train as Marilyn Monroe, another of her faves - this Throwback Thursday is dedicated to you grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl!

With the big "A" reveal merely two episodes away, I have had my theories as to who that is, and one of them has been Hanna. But you never know what's happening with this roller coaster of a show anything is possible.

Shauna has yet to see this weeks PLL, you know when Hanna went to jail? We text every week about each episode, I wonder what her reaction will be to that? Hey, Shauna hurry up and watch!

Called Out! Rachel McAdams Is A Class Act

Although they have had wildly different careers - Rachel McAdams proves what I have always suspected about her, she is a class act.

When the subject of her Mean Girls co-star, Lindsay Lohan came up in a recent chat she spills that she was in fact "in awe" of her.

Ms. McAdams told Allure Magazine  for their August issue that she was impressed by Lohan's natural ability. "I looked at her as this experienced actor, and she had great comedic timing, so natural. It's just funny to hear that because you never know what people are thinking. We all try to act like we've got it together."

As far as her own career? McAdams is looking forward to a roller coaster ride. "I'm hoping it's going to be complicated and have lots of dead ends and corners and sharp turns. I hope it can't be summed up too easily when I'm done."

Love it! Thanks Rachel when asked about working with someone you kept it real and didn't dish. You also let everyone know that nobody's ride is smooth in the world of show biz no matter what public perception is...Signed, A Fan For Life!

"Scandal" The Covering Of Kerry Washington's Baby Bump

Is that your knee Mr. President? Or are you just happy to see me?

Tonight as all of us Gladiator's know is the season finale of one of the best shows on TV "Scandal."

I've really got to hand it to the whole creative team that works on this, a show with story lines that escalate usually falters mighty, but "Scandal" like the Energizer Bunny just keeps going and going...and getting better.

"Scandal" is like riding the fiercest roller coaster at Magic Mountain! I can't wait to see what happens in tonight's wrap of the current season.

Now that I have clarified that I am a true fan of the show and it's awesome ability to entertain, let me say one of the more entertaining aspects of this season for us Gladiators was seeing all of the creative ways they covered series star Kerry Washington's baby bump.

C'mon you know you were amused by it as much as I was. Some of them were typical, while others were downright genius!

My personal favorite President Grant's (Tony Goldwyn) knee obscuring Olivia Pope's bump so the prying camera could not film it. Totally awesome and amusing at the same time.

Confess did anyone out there have a drinking game based around this? I bet some of you Gladiators did...!

The best thing though is the brilliant team behind "Scandal" did manage to keep their female lead and show anchor front and center where she belongs. That is the one mistake most shows with a female lead make, when their leading lady gets pregnant - they move her out of the center of the action and whip up other story lines for the supporting characters and they lose the shows focus and it goes downhill from there.

Excited to see how they end the season tonight and "yes" I will be checking out Operation Camouflage Kerry's Baby Bump as well.
