A Ghost Waits

On May 4th, Arrow Video will release
Adam Stovall's A Ghost Waits, a remarkable supernatural comedy romance which can best be described as Beetlejuice meets Ghost. Beautifully shot in gorgeous black-and-white, this indie film tells the story of a handyman, a haunted house, and the ghost he falls in love with (an absolutely brilliant performance from headliner MacLeod Andrews, star of The Siren).

An ingeniously unique and unpredictable combo of horror, humor and heart, A Ghost Waits is a DIY labor of love years in the making from first-time writer/director Adam Stovall and producer/star MacLeod Andrews. Tasked with renovating a neglected rental home, handyman Jack (MacLeod Andrews, They Look Like PeopleDoctor Sleep) quickly finds out why the tenants keep leaving in droves - this house is haunted. The ghost in question is Muriel (Natalie Walker), who is employed from beyond the veil to keep the home vacant.

Against the odds, Jack and Muriel find they have a lot in common... pulse notwithstanding. Having found a kindred spirit in an otherwise lonely existence, they must fight for their newfound affection as pressure mounts for them each to fulfill their "cross-purposes".

From its opening spectral assault to its achingly poignant conclusion, A Ghost Waits has shocked and surprised audiences around the world via the festival circuit... FrightFest,
Screamfest, Ramaskrik, Dead and SudBuried, Nevermore, and Popcorn Frights just to name a few.

Famed critic Kim Newman declared the film to be "one of the strongest first features of recent years," and Leslie Felperin of The Guardian gave it 4 stars and said it was "chock full of delightful narrative surprises, imaginative genre tweaks, and warming performances from its two leads."

Saturday Sinema: The Major And The Minor

Here's one from the great Director Billy Wilder starring Ginger Rogers!!!

From one of Hollywood's most acclaimed auteurs, Billy Wilder (Double Indemnity, Sunset Boulevard), comes the charming comedy classic The Major and the Minor. Legendary actress and dancer Ginger Rogers (Monkey Business) stars as Susan Applegate, a struggling young woman who pretends to be an 11-year old girl in order to buy a half-price train ticket. Fleeing the conductors, she hides in the compartment of Major Philip Kirby (Ray Milland, The Big Clock, The Pyjama Girl Case). The Major believes Susan is a child and takes her under his wing, but when they arrive at the military academy where Kirby teaches, his fiancée (Rita Johnson) grows suspicious of Susan's ruse... Co-written by Wilder and Charles Brackett (Hold Back the Dawn), The Major and the Minor assumes the guise of a light romance narrative in order to cleverly explore themes of identity and deception. Wilder's American debut is presented here for the first time in stunning High Definition, with a selection of illuminating extras.

Saturday Sinema: Crimson Peak

Go Goth, or Go Home...
From the imagination of Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water) comes Crimson Peak, a lavish, stunningly realised journey into the dark heart of Gothic romance... Beginning in Buffalo, New York, during the 1880s, Crimson Peak stars Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, Stoker) as Edith Cushing, an aspiring writer who is haunted by the death of her mother. Edith's falls in love with seductive stranger Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston, Avengers Assemble), who whisks her off to Allerdale Hall, his baronial, yet dilapidated English mansion built upon a mountain of blood-red clay. Here Edith meets Lucille (Jessica Chastain, Zero Dark Thirty), Thomas's sister who at times seems hostile and jealous. As Edith struggles to feel at home in the imposing residence, she gradually uncovers a horrendous family secret and encounters supernatural forces that will help her discover the terrible truth behind Crimson Peak. Boasting incredibly intricate and ornate production design and a rich visual style, del Toro's film is a grandiose, boldly baroque triumph of Gothic decadence, which expertly combines and contrasts the sublimely beautiful with the shockingly grotesque. Crimson Peak is presented here in sumptuous special packaging, with a wealth of extra features, affording unprecedented insight in to the making of this modern Gothic classic.

A "Stalker" Romance

Maggie Q & Dylan McDermott
Sometimes life and art bleed together and it's hard to tell the difference, apparently such is the case with Dylan McDermott and Maggie Q who co-star on the new hit series Stalker on CBS.

Neither of them have confirmed it, but the stalkerazzi have caught them with their all seeing lenses out and about together looking thisclose.

Hey they have great chemistry on the show so this really should not surprise those who have seen it.

I have met Mr. McDermott he attended a play I was in once because one of my co-stars was his waiter at a restaurant where he was a regular. What a cool guy he is and if you think he looks good on TV you ought to see him in person.

Fact: Stalking cases have gone up 400 percent since the Internet boom, only two more days until Halloween!

Paint A Rumor: Sharon Stone Attacks "Journalists"

Stone & Banderas: Seriously Does This Look Like Two People Dating?!
"I find this salacious, unkind, unfounded reporting to be the typical pretense of what passes as 'journalism' today." - Sharon Stone addressing the rumors she and Antonio Banderas are dating

Here, here Ms. Stone I completely agree with the above statement. As a journalist I do not want to remotely be thought of as a hack or someone who does not know the facts before they shoot their keyboard off.

When I first saw this item that Banderas and Stone were involved via a post by a "journalist" on my Facebook home page, while I do not purport to know either personally, I was suspect enough of it not to post it here on Entertain Me.

"Antonio is a brother to me, and Melanie (Griffith) has been with me for each and every birth of my three children, They are my family" Sharon told the Daily Mail.

The photos of them taken together at the Cannes Film Festival, like the one above, do not show any signs of flirtation or romance. They look like two good friends who have an affection for one another. All you would have to do is look at them for proof that this rumor is false.

Yes, they do look amazing together as beautiful people usually do and let's hear it for both them proving over fifty is hot, hot, hot and leave it at that.

Dear fellow "journalist" if you insist on still calling yourself that, who posted this via Facebook, please stop giving other people in the field a bad name and check yourself, before you wreck it for the rest of us who report responsibly.

Thank you.

Michael Shinafelt has left the building.
