Super Saturday

Wonder Women

Hello Minions it's Super Saturday brought to you straight outta Wonder Woman the TV series which aired originally April 21, 1976.

These are the women of Wonder Woman pictured on her place of origin Paradise Island. With Wonder Woman portrayed by Lynda Carter in the house along with her Mother portrayed by Carolyn Jones and Debra Winger as her sister Drusilla.

I was feeling heroic today and wanted to salute these classic Wonder Women.

So let's hop in our invisible planes and take them straight to the sky and fly!

Freaky Friday

Wonder Woman
Lynda Carter

I saw this image come across my Twitter, I mean X or whatever feed this morning direct from Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter. It came with the caption "I am prepared to fight Dracula on this boat."

Obviously this was a tongue in cheek remark because as if the fanged one would ever participate in water sports or dare to fight WW.

Vampires and water don't mix Minions (say that three times fast) - Lynda Carter however is fun on Twitter (I'm never going to stop calling it that, so there!)

So get your Freaky Friday on and follow her, and follow her now!

It's "National Comic Book Day" Woot!

Yee Haw!
Wonder Woman

When I was growing up I used to be an avid Comic Book fan. As I got older not so much, but I still have fond memories of the hours of escape they provided me from the world. (given the current state of it perhaps I should go back to reading them) - My two favorites were Batman and Wonder Woman.

Thus you are bequeathed an image from the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 to celebrate today, Yay!

If you can't figure out why Wonder Woman read what I wrote above. It was supposed to come out in June but because of the pandemic it has bee postponed until Christmas day this year. Fingers crossed that it does not get bumped yet again, but I have a hunch it will 😟

That being stated I can't wait for it to actually premiere it's the only movie based on a Comic Book I want to, and will see coming up. As I stated I outgrew my fascination with them and thus I see few films based on them. "Yes" I am discerning.

The Quarantine Shuffle

Wonder Woman
Lynda Carter
Like most of us I have been watching way more TV of late. Hey, what are we Corn Teen minions supposed to do with limited options???

Well yesterday while channel surfing I struck Television Gold! "Yes" I was feeling my inner Yukon Cornelius when I stumbled upon a two part Batman episode with Julie Newmar as the Catwoman on, followed by an episode of Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter and Lyle Waggoner

The thing I remembered most about these shows from my days of yore was that they were silly fun. What I really did not recall was how skilled the actors were in bringing depth to that silliness.
Catwoman
Julie Newmar
Julie Newmar brought surprising pathos to her performance as the kinky Catwoman, even though the material she was given on Batman was pure camp on a stick, Ms. Newmar really understood what she was doing and how to elevate it.

Likewise Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman and Lyle Waggoner as Major Steve Trevor. They all elevated something silly into something magic.

I truly enjoyed rediscovering these two old friends, sometimes The Quarantine Shuffle isn't too shabby.

Monday Motivation

Pump It Jam!
Gal Gadot
Today's Monday Motivation is the heavy topic of weightlifting, something that I recently discovered at the age of 53. I attempted lifting in my twenties and couldn't stand it. Then post my fifty pound weight loss I was told by someone close to me that I would start lifting weights. Well this person used to be a trainer and I told them if they wanted me to do that they would coach me on what they thought I should do and how to proceed correctly.

They did, and I now do! I F#cking enjoy lifting weights now. I think I figured out why. There is more to it than bulking up, also at this point in my life anything I do, I am doing for myself. Another reason, is I now know how to do each set of weights I was assigned to do with properly and with intent. Meaning I like the control I have while engaging in this form of exercise.

For visual inspiration on this Monday I bring you Wonder Woman herself Gal Gadot hitting those beasts and hitting them hard! As her T-Shirt says: JOCK and indeed she is...!!!

Take that Monday!

Hump Day & Chill

Join Me?
Chris Pine
Today's Hump Day & Chill is brought to you by the film A Wrinkle in Time - and by the name Chris Pine. Yeah, that's correct I made rhyme, and I can do that anytime Sam I Am...

Mr. Pine currently appearing in A Wrinkle in Time is one tasty view whether he is "your type" or not. Oh and he is a talented thespian as well.

What's that?! No, I did not see the Star Trek movies, NMT aka Not My Thing, but those baby blues are all so mesmerizing. And he was real and spectacular as Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman.

Chris is a really great movie star in the old Hollywood tradition. He is quite particular about the projects he picks and keeps a very low key profile when it comes to his personal life. Because life is a mystery after all, and everyone must stand alone.

This guy ain't no Kardashian, that's for sure! No letting it all hang out physically or personally for him.

So why don't you join me in pining for Chris, Hump Day &Chill powers activate.

It's time to go, I gotta blow! (another rhyme I'm on a roll!)

See Her, Gal Gadot

See Her
Gal Gadot
Gal Gadot recently accepted the #SeeHer Award at the 2018 Critics' Choice Awards

What's the #SeeHer Award you might ask? I'm glad you did because I honestly am not familiar with it either so let's find out together, shall we?

The See Her Award is:

A special trophy that aims to recognize the importance of accurately portraying women across the entertainment landscape.

Obviously there is no one more deserving of such an honor than Wonder Woman herself.

Michael's Musings

Contemplating My Navel

It's that time of the week again where I am mostly peace, love and light, and a little go f#ck yourself.

Trying to keep the negative to a minimum because there just isn't enough of that going down every single day.

Shall we commence? Yes, we shall...

Best headline of the week: Wonder Woman Tops Tom Cruise - cheeky!

During the week, it's the Tranny Bike

What are you? A sex machine with a cash register between your legs?

This week on Pretty Little Liars Aria got busted for being shady AF, Hanna & Caleb got married, Spencer & Toby had sex, only two episodes left, and the world keeps turning.

Michael's Musings

Celebrate!
Michael Shinafelt

Happy Gay Pride Month! You heard me. June is the month of PRIDE - and this weekend is the Gay Pride celebration in Los Angeles, CA

Since I am proud of who I am, here it is on the table. All bets are off, because a "wonder"ful film I saw this week preaches the truth, and then some.

Extra! Extra! read all about it, now!

I have never seen a comic book film quite like Wonder Woman. Hell I haven't seen many. But this one is film making at it's finest. Oh, and it also subscribes to love being the answer.

While I won't be attending the Pride Parade this year, I will be having brunch with good friends.

This week on Pretty Little Liars. Aria is still being a twat, Hanna & Caleb got engaged...swoon!

Hump Day & Chill

See Tony Chill
Tony Goldwyn
How has your week been going? Mine has been pretty great. In addition too getting a lot accomplished I took some me time and went and saw Wonder Woman yesterday which I highly recommend.

Oh what's that you say? What does it have to do with anything? Well first off this is my place on the Internet to say and do what I want and second, it's Hump Day so chill.

The middle of the week is when one should take some time to unwind and treat themselves to something. I makes it easier to muddle through until the weekend.

Nothing represents my POV more than this image Scandal's Tony Goldwyn in Bali. Playing the President has to be a tough, not to mention stressful job.

Check out Tony reclined on the hotel bed enjoying room service barefoot in shorts. Now that's the way you do it.

Obviously you don't have to get a hotel room in Bali to do this, but this image alone should plant the idea in your head of what my philosophy is and that is: Chill and be to really be good to yourself. Trust me if you do you will feel better and everything else will fall into place.

So don't forget to chill today by doing something for you.

Can I get an Amen? Of course I can!

Wonder Woman Friday

Wonder Women
Gal Gadot & Lynda Carter
Since I stumbled upon the set stage for the Wonder Woman premiere before it began last week in Hollywood I thought I might as well give the movie's opening space on my blog.

I mean seriously couldn't we all use Wonder Woman in our lives stat? With a rouge President and and uncertain future for the U.S. she is exactly the voice and presence the world needs ASAP!

Whether I see the film or not, it is getting great reviews and leading lady Gal Gadot has been deemed a worthy successor to Lynda Carter who made the character famous on television.

Also the photo taken at the premiere above of Lynda passing the proverbial torch to Gal put a smile on my face. After this past week, this is personally what I needed, and I feel it is a pretty safe bet the majority of you feel the same.

So this weekend unleash your inner Wonder Woman, and use your powers for the betterment of the world we live in.

That goes for you too men, we all have a Wonder Woman in us!

Why Not? Wonder Woman

Wonder No More
Gal Gadot
Yesterday I went to make a Trader Joe's run to the one located on Hollywood & Vine at the W Hotel. I emerged from the subway to find a barricade at the Pantages Theater with people already gathering for the Wonder Woman premiere.

It was quite the set-up. I was so glad I arrived before noon, can't imagine what the sidewalks would have been like later. At the time I encountered them they were not that full but the very front of the barricaded area was already teeming with WW fanatics. You'd have to be one to arrive that early.

Being the on the move writer guy I am I snapped a photo of a Wonder Woman wanna be and her Batman eagerly waiting for the sacred event.
Batman & Wonder Woman
After I hash tagged it and posted it to Instagram someone recognized WW and BM and tagged them to my image. Faux Wonder Woman approved and left a comment on my pic. Isn't the WWW grand?

Thus I leave you with an image of the actual Wonder Woman arriving at the premiere Gal Godot and my great pretender and her Batman.

Say Hello To Wonder Woman

Wonder No More!
Gal Gadot
With all the hype surrounding the opening of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice this Friday you would have to be living in your own private Idaho not to know that piece of trivia.

Me? I am 100% sure I will survive without going to see it. Having put it out there, one minor point of interest for me about the film is the first big screen appearance of Wonder Woman.

Yes, I was a fan of the TV Series with Lynda Carter when I was young, meaning I am now old. It was campy fun!

The take on WW in Batman v Superman judging from the trailer is decidedly more serious in tone. It's also providing the set up for the Amazonian Princess to headline her own movie. Now that is something I would haul my ass to a theater to go see.

Gal Gadot, the actress portraying WW had this to say about it in Los Angeles at a recent press conference:  "So I am so happy to be the one who is going to tell the Wonder Woman story. It is such an important story to tell. It is so important for girls and boys to have a female, strong, super hero to look up to. The more the merrier and there is plenty of room for many more women to come and I am very happy to be a part of it."

Since I am sitting Batman v Superman out, see you when the Wonder Woman movie hits the silver screen Gal!

T.G.I.F! Sheba Baby!

All Hail Pam Grier, the Queen of Kicking Ass!!!

Sheba, Baby [Blu-ray + DVD] coming February 9
Fresh off her career defining roles for Jack Hill in Coffy and Foxy Brown, Pam Grier continued her domination of the Blaxploitation genre, in cult filmmaker William Girdler's (The Manitou, Abby) 'Sheba, Baby'...
Grier plays Sheba Shayne, a private eye based in Chicago who is called to her hometown to stop the local mob boss (played by "that bad D'Urville Martin", Black Caesar, Dolemite) from moving in on her father's loan business. Aided by her father's partner, Brick Williams (Austin Stoker, Assault on Precinct 13, Battle for the Planet of the Apes), Sheba finds out that the violent thugs aren't going go away without a fight. Car bombs, gun fights and boat chases ensue whilst armed with her curves, street smarts and a .44, Sheba is in for a bloodbath!
Grier would appear in three Blaxploitation classics in 1975 (the others were Bucktown and Friday Foster), where she was at the top of her game and genre, with the Los Angeles Times calling her "cool, tough and glamorous - a female fantasy Wonder Woman", further cementing her status as the first female action star.
