Three Way: Donny & Marie Osmond + Olivia Newton-John

Donny & Mare Osmond: Yeah, We're With Olivia

Olivia Newton-John: Yep, I'm With Them

Have ever been a "little bit country" perhaps sometimes a "little bit rock' n roll?" Or "have you ever been mellow?"
Well now you can be all those in one geek-tastic tour! That's correct, Donny & Marie Osmond will be touring with Olivia Newton-John next year!!!

Yeah, I am a total nerd for the Osmonds and ONJ, wanna be starting something about it?!

Marie stopped by the Today Show to break the news to Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb.

She states about her and Donny's tour with their friend Olivia: “She’s going to take half the time, we are taking the other half" Marie continued “We’re going on a big world tour.”

Ms. Osmond also said they plan to start off the tour in places like Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

Even though 2015 has barely started, 2016 is looking great! I'm so there!

Keep updated with Donny & Marie at:

Marie Osmond Transforms Herself...

Yes, It Really Is Marie Osmond
Into The Bride of Frankenstein! Yes, it's totally true!

Not only does she portray Frankenstein's mate, she also does Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Madonna and Elizabeth Taylor. Hey what can't this amazing woman do?!

Why you may ask? Well there is a reason...it's for "Showstopper" a new production number in the Donny and Marie Show at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas.

Marie has always been my favorite Osmond. Even though she was "a little bit country" and I am more Rock-N-Roll. I used to sit glued to the TV set when the Donny & Marie show was on.

Marie, For Real
She is an icon to me and what makes her special is she has always been kind, compassionate, honest and above all real.

Her ups and downs are well documented in the press and through it all Ms. Osmond has always remained strong and fluid as a human being.

I greatly admire her moxie and intelligence. Not to mentions she is an A + entertainer & personality.

A note to the judges of Dancing With The Stars, who dissed Marie's freestyle to The Rolling Stone's "Start Me Up" - it was awesome and perhaps one day you will realize the error of your judgement, perhaps...in the meantime let's make believe and play dress up with Marie and all of her amazing transformations in the video below!

Is That A Lizard In Your Pocket Or? "Gila!"

I'm a complete sucker for tongue in cheek, cheesy B movies and this one looks like a TOTAL blast!

Get your lizard on!

"Rock 'n roll is here to stay" despite the best efforts of a giant gila monster in Polyscope's sci-fi comedy movie Gila! scheduled for release on DVD this April 22nd.

Based loosely on the 1959 sci-fi classic Giant Gila Monster, the revived Gila! features a ferocious, rampaging giant gila monster, classy hot rods, vintage 50's rock 'n roll music, cute co-eds, fist fights, drag racing and an all-star cast who rally to defend their small town.

"A perfect 'date night' drive-in movie," says producer Bill Dever. "Family fun with music, action, a very scary monster and a terrific cast. Inspirational sci-fi horror."

It's not all the monster's fault since his giant size and voracious appetite come from accidental toxic chemical contact, and beneath the action, Gila! carries a few contemporary political, social and environmental messages.

Directed by Jim Wynoski, the movie follows a small-town Sheriff and a young hot-rod mechanic as they suddenly face the giant gila monster's surprise attacks - first on farm animals, hapless humans, a passing freight train and then a small Indiana town busily preparing for the big Christmas rock 'n roll dance.

"It's funny, scary, camp and relevant," says Dever, "featuring some of the best music of the 1950's and some cool cars."  The antique hot rods and classics were provided by a midwest car club.

Gila! stars veteran television actor Terrence Knox (Tour of DutySt. Elsewhere) as the Sheriff. The handsome Chase is played by Brian Gross (Red Tails) who races, then rallies with restless hot-rodder Jesse Janzen as Waco Bob and seductress Carla, played with a passionate zing by Christina DeRosa as they fight the Giant Gila Monster.

                                                                "Gila" The Trailer

The Gila Monster is no longer the federally protected and endangered southwest desert critter thoughtlessly nudged through balsa wood walls in the original movie.  Clever EFX and a dangerous man-made chemical spill morph the gila into a monster and cave crickets into chickens. Tracked down and annoyed by the Sheriff's nitro explosion that supposedly sealed the cave the monster breaks through by morning and wreaks havoc.

Town drunk and civil libertarian Compton, played brilliantly by Rich Komenich, saves the day with a bottle of whisky in one hand and the Second Amendment in the other.  His secret stash of machine guns and nitroglycerin - stockpiled to fight Russians or Martians or atomic monsters - has everyone home just in time for Christmas.

Gerald Pauwels plays the classic rich, blowhard Mayor who is forced  to face the realities of city leadership as he, the Sheriff, the hot-rodders and town drunk pull together to fight the monster. Actor Don Sullivan who plays hero Chase in the original movie returns as the Scientist.

Gila spit, as we all learned in junior high science and Sullivan reminds us, is bad, but in Gila! giant gila goo dissolves human flesh in wonderful B-movie fashion.

Ghosts Of Christmas Past - David Bowie & Bing Crosby

Ghosts Of Christmas Past: David Bowie & Bing Crosby

While writing about The Holiday Season this year one of my most interesting and favorite Ghosts of Christmas Past memories kept haunting me...

As a youngster I remember watching one of Bing Crosby's Holiday Specials with my parents, when what to my wandering eyes did appear but David Bowie to sing "Little Drummer Boy" with Bing this year.

Even as a kid I was a little taken aback as I was keenly aware of Bowie's reputation as a Rock-N-Roll raconteur and Crosby's as the picture of family wholesomeness.

But this was pure magic to me and truly formed an aesthetic that would be part of the basis of who I became in my adult life.

Of course guess who I became a fan of and guess who stayed my parents singer?

Here is one of the greatest most influential moments in Entertainment history, not to mention my  young life.

"Come they told me
Pa rum pum pum pum"....

Desperately Seeking: Avril Lavigne

Cover Art For Avril's Upcoming Album

It's been a couple of years since Ms. Avril Lavigne has put out any new music, well she's back with a new album due out this fall and she allegedly has wrote and recorded enough new songs to put out another album shortly after, when the grrrrrrrrl werks, she werks!

Up first and now is her single "Rock N Roll" - with a video that is so out there and self indulgent it can only belong to Avril, and I mean that as a compliment, hey isn't that one of the reasons the people who like her, like her?

Actually there is a source for the madness this video draws on, a movie called 'Tank Girl" starring a then known Lorie Petty as "Tank Girl" and a then unknown Naomi Watts as "Jet Girl", yes, time to cue the lesbian subtext. They battled strange/off the wall other worldly creatures in a Mad Max like desert type universe.

The video starts with Lavigne declaring she is a MotherF#cking Princess and proceeds to see her battling bear sharks, knife wielding lobsters and a villain with a head like fly, check. Everything takes place in a Mad Max desert like setting, check. Also the MotherF#cking Princess locks lips with actress Danica McKellar, what would Winnie Cooper think?! Lesbian subtext, check.

Avril Battles the Bear Shark!
Oh and Billy Zane is thrown in for good measure. T.G.I.F! Check out this loopy video that I can't get enough of and enjoy your weekend!

Valarie Pettiford: Is A Tease (and she can sing too)!

Valarie Pettiford is that rare breed, a triple threat. From the stages of Broadway to the sound stages of Hollywood, she has charmed audiences with her performances. A Fosse-trained dancer, Pettiford was Tony nominated for her work in the musical revue, “Fosse”, which paid homage to her mentor.

As an actor, she is most recognized as Big Dee Dee Thorne on the hit sitcom, “Half and Half”, and Aunt Geneva, whose rehearsal dinner musical number in “Jumping the Broom” pretty much stole the show from her Co-Stars.

Valarie has released her second solo album, “Velvet Sky”, a collection of original lullabies.. This new album, all of which were written especially for her by two legendary writing teams – Ron Abel (music)/Chuck Steffan (lyrics) and Michael Orland (music)/Jamie Wooten (lyrics).

Here to sing you a soothing lullaby as only she can is Ms. Valarie Pettiford...!

VP: Hey, it's Valarie Pettiford.

MS: Hey, how are you?

VP: I'm awesome how are you?

MS: Great! I was giving “Velvet Sky” a listen before you called, it's very nice, did your Mom sing you lullabies when you were a kid?

VP: She did. She has a beautiful voice, it's so nice to see her now with singing to her Great Grandchildren, she has always sang, and so does my sister. Lullabies have always been a part of my life.

MS: I always wondered if people really sang lullabies to their kids. (laughs)

VP: They do, they actually do. (laughs)

MS: There was something I read that stated you thought your voice was well suited to them, I agree with that.

VP: Thank you, thank you. People always ask me: “Valarie what do you usually sing”? Of course I do Jazz and Musical Theatre, but my heart is in Rock-N-Roll. But I just don't have a Rock-N-Roll voice, so I have thought about where my vocal sensibilities lie. I think they do lie in this particular vein.

MS: Interesting, because I wouldn't know by hearing you sing that you didn't have a Rock-N-Roll voice. Because as we all know Pat Benatar was trained as an opera singer and she has a Rock-N-Roll voice...so someone listening to you would not necessarily know you didn't have that type of voice.

VP: You're right, I mean I could do it, but it's not the way I want to do it. I would want to sound like Pat Benatar or Tina Turner, but I don't.

MS: Rumor has it you pretty much stole “Jumping The Broom”.

VP: (laughs) Somebody said that, not me. My role was very delicious, it was amazing to, I was surrounded by the best cast and had the best director. It was a wonderful experience.

MS: I heard you had an off color musical number in it.

VP: I did. (laughs) The movie is about a wedding and I did a song during the rehearsal dinner, that was inappropriate but, funny as Hell.

MS: Since I haven't seen it, can you tell me what it was?

VP: Well....the movie has been out for a while so it won't spoil it for anyone. But sometimes I hate saying it, because it will spoil it for people who have not seen the movie and still want to see it.

MS: Valarie you are a tease. (laughs)

VP: It's inappropriate, but funny as Hell.

MS: Now you are going to have to make me rent it.

VP: You can find it on DVD and on On Demand.

MS:Gee, thanks a lot Valarie! (laughs)

VP: You're welcome. (laughs)

Shocking” consists of 12 stories of Space themes. We are not going to mention the theme and stories here as we don’t want these notions to get in the way of your own imagination.

Ariel Beez: "Snow White" Goes Solo

Ariel Beez formerly of “Snow White & The 7 Slutz” is now flying solo - ya know, the usual band disbanded for various reasons sort of thing.

This weekend she has a gig at “Hillbillyhip” in Topanga, CA, Saturday February 25th 2012, let’s check in with the now Slutz- less “Snow White”.

MS: So what happened to the Slutz?

AB: Well, our bassist moved to Orange County, and I kind of wanted to pursue solo stuff.

MS: Cool, so are you still going to be doing punk at your upcoming gig?

AB: Yeah, the upcoming show is like a punk/folk show - my part, I’m not really sure how to describe it, I play ukulele, I am opening for a big band on the punk scene called “Ramshackle Glory” It’s a good opportunity to be opening for them. Part of the show is electric and part of it is acoustic.

MS: I love acoustic! Do you remember me from your childhood at all? It has been a while.

AB: Were you in Uncle Phil’s (Esposito) acting class?

MS: Yes, I was that is how I met your Mom (Nina Savelle- Rocklin).

AB: Vaguely, I was really little.

MS: I’ve actually met your Dad too (Matt Earl Beesley, Producer on
“Revenge“) and “Revenge” is one of my favorite shows.

AB: Oh, that’s awesome!

MS: Speaking of Phil, you, like myself, love tattoos and your first one was honoring him, tell us about it.

AB: Phil was very important in my life, he was like a Father Figure, he and his partner Joseph. The tattoo I got to honor him is on my forearm, it’s an infinity sign, but I had it done like a vine, and it has his birth date written in the infinity.

MS: Very nice.

AB: Also I have another quote tattooed on my back, it’s from “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” the quote is “It’s the truth, even if it didn’t happen”. It has to do with my past and the fact that I’m a writer. So to have such an amazing piece of literature on my body by such an amazing author like Ken Kesey is really important to me.

MS: Obviously you write all your own songs.

AB: Yes, I do.

MS: That is awesome! So other than acoustic what can people expect from your show this Saturday?

AB: All around the show is going to be an amazing time, because it is so many different groups of artists. One of the bands is my boyfriend performing with a friend of mine and an accordion. My music? I wouldn’t really know how to categorize it, I wouldn’t call it punk, it’s more quirky and a little bit whimsical. Folk/Punk is something I really like, it’s fun to take punk subjects like: Drugs, Sex & Rock-N-Roll and then put them across in a folky way.

MS: Sounds Great! I am making a point of being there Saturday.

AB: Thank you so much for this opportunity, hope to see you there!
