On January 21st, Arrow Video offers a police chase into the mind of a serial killer in The Cell on 4K UHD and Blu-ray. Director Tarsem Singh (The Fall) brought his visual boldness to the big screen after a career making innovative major music videos (R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion”). The Limited Edition release features brand new 4K restorations of the theatrical cut and the director’s cut by Arrow Films, approved by director Tarsem Singh, in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and hours of special features.

 

Catherine Deane (Jennifer Lopez, Out of Sight) is a child psychologist using revolutionary technology on coma patients to get into their subconscious and entice them to wake up. The police need her help when serial killer Carl Rudolph Stargher (Vincent D'Onofrio, Full Metal Jacket) is finally captured after falling into a coma. His latest victim will be drowned in a tank if they can’t get a clue where Stargher has hidden her. Special Agent Peter Novak (Vince Vaughn, The Wedding Crashers) and Deane go inside Stagher’s mind to get the answer. They are not ready for the surrealistic horror that they encounter in the serial killer’s mindscape and are in danger of never returning.

 

The special features include four audio commentaries, new feature length interview with director Tarsem Singh, an unseen version of The Cell in 1.78:1 aspect ratio with alternate grading, video interview with the director of photography, two visual essays, deleted and extended scenes with director’s commentary, visual effects vignettes, an image gallery, theatrical trailers, and an illustrated collector’s booklet.

Happy Mother's Day!

With the recent passing of my Mom, I celebrated Mother's Day by watching The Mother starring Jennifer Lopez on Netflix. Yeah, it wasn't too coincidentally released this past Friday just in time for today. 

The Mother was fun, escapist fare, with a great performance by Lopez. It's akin to the old Hollywood star vehicles back in the day. 

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there. If your Mom is not with you remember the good times today. Celebrate those memories not the sadness.

While surfing the WWW this ayem I was remiss to discover today is National Nachos Day. Why is that you may ask? Because I have lost 8lbs currently and have already indulged in my "cheat day" this week. Had I known what today was I would have RSVP'd for it, veering from eating well today and indulged in some delicious nachos, damn it!

As you can see even Jennifer Lopez who looks amazing at 52 has her cheat days as well. Here she is chowing down courtside at a Basketball game imbibing in nachos, naturally. Remember today it's all about the chip!

About last night...the E! People's Choice Awards happened, unlike fetch which Gretchen Wieners has yet to make a thing, and Jennifer Lopez was honored with the Icon Award.

So how is this Monday Motivation you ask? I'm glad you did, Jennifer is re-writing the book on what it means to be a 51 year old woman in Hollywood. "Yes" that's correct Minions J-Lo is 51 years of age. She is simply amazing, if you ask me, and others as well.

Thus the MM today, while we can't all be like J-Lo, especially if you are a dude. We can all try to be our own personal best. Whatever that entails for you. It doesn't even have to be a physical appearance type of thing. It can be mental or emotional, getting involved in a charity or your community. That's why Jennifer is this week's Monday Motivation poster grrrrrrl. She is a woman of many facets.

I can not let this week go by and not call out Jennifer Lopez for the tragic frock she donned for this year's Golden Globes. Since I mainly partake in the affair to see what the celebrities are wearing.

WTF J-Lo?! Ms. Lopez who is usually a fashion forward trailblazer apparently didn't get the memo that Christmas is over. "Yes" Jennifer there isn't a Santa Claus, obviously, because he would not allow you to dress like someone's unwanted Christmas Gift.

Just Because it's Friday, T.G.I.F people! Just Because they are BFF's and Just Because I love here show condemning Scientology - here are Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini clowning around on the set of their movie Second Act in NYC.

These two are the best of friends photographed out and about by the paparazzi many a times. When they're together who knows what they'll decided to do? Who knows what they'll get up to? I'd love to know, wouldn't you?

Now that they are working together for the first time playing BFF's it should make for an interesting finished film.

On another note, I am a huge fan of Remini's series on A&E condemning Scientology, Scientology and the Aftermath now in it's second season. The show digs deep and living a stones throw away from the big blue "church" featured frequently on the program gives it a little more oomph for me.

Bye, Bye, Bye: American Idol

Wow it's the end of an era. Fifteen Seasons on the air and now it's over. I remember when American Idol was pretty much a social experiment and no one knew whether it would work or not. In the interest of full disclosure I stopped watching after the season Adam Lambert was on.

However it is no secret to most I am buddies with James Durbin who will be appearing on tonight's series finale, among others including the original Idol herself, Ms. Kelly Clarkson.

This factoid did not escape the most Dedicated Durbinator, Marissa Erickson who friended me on Facebook and followed me on Twitter when she saw my coverage of James.

Well she sent me some images from a live chat she participated in on Facebook during the rehearsals involving James for his performance to the final countdown to tonight's AI farewell.

She wrote this to me in a message:
