E.G. Daily Is "So Pretty"

If I Was The President Would It Be Evident...
E.G. Daily
"See me from the inside, inside out" - So Pretty, E.G. Daily

E.G. Daily is a music and film icon. She really hit big in the 80's with the movies Pee Wee's Big Adventure and Valley Girl. Oh and then there is her pop hit Say It, Say It

There is so much more beneath the surface. "Yes" E.G. has a new single and movement out "So Pretty." - Aren't we all more than meets the eye?

Are you ready? Let's get E.G!

MS: So can we talk "So Pretty?"

EG: It's basically like, um, I was writing for soundtracks for films. So I wasn't really thinking about it for myself as a song. After I wrote it, I had this really strong feeling that I needed to put it out. I felt this needed to be coming from me. So I financed it, and worked with my two partners. Now we need to get it out. It's a very important message. it's really timely, about what's going on right now. No matter whether you are a male or a female, young or old, we are judged on our outsides as people. and it's not fun, when you're busy watching yourself all the time. Why don't we be present so we can connect better.

MS: Oh Yeah. Since I have gotten older and I'm sure you will concur with this, you do care less about that stuff.

EG: Yeah, we are getting older, how much can you play? I like dressing up just as much as anyone else. I like taking care of myself, but it's no longer the priority. The priority is about connecting with each other.
Look Inside!
E.G. Daily
MS: The less we care the more fun we have.

EG: That's my favorite message of all, once you stop worrying about yourself magic happens. Once you get off yourself and start to be present in your day to day life that's when magical things will occur.

MS: I am obsessed with the gym and diet of late, while I get attention that isn't the reason I am doing it.

EG: You want to be healthy and take care of yourself. Yeah, you definitely want to take care of yourself especially as you are getting older. It's definitely about the bigger picture.

MS: Health is everything.

EG: I agree!

MS: It is the bigger picture, it's not like I am focused on that solely. There are a lot of other things going on.

EG: What's interesting about that is we asked people to send in videos to us about what lengths they've gone to, to be beautiful. It's funny because we got as many Men as we did Women. They would say they did things to harm themselves by not eating enough, or over exercise...some of them did surgeries that put their lives at risk, So, that's the thing. At what lengths do we go to to please other people? So when we got these videos in, it was every age range and every demographic, Male & Female.

MS: I'm not surprised. When I was young I felt pressure for that.

EG: Everyone no matter what age puts pressure on themselves about how they look on the outside. At what point is it healthy and not healthy? Where is the fun? You need to have fun!

MS: I love being in my 50's!

EG: I do too! I love seeing my kids getting bigger and being more mature adults, it's so beautiful.

So Pretty

MS: From a Mother's perspective how have you seen this affect your daughters?

EG: They've dealt with their eating issues their whole lives. A little girl wishes they could have the body of an older girl, an older girl wishes they could have the body of a younger girl. My daughters are very much about fashion and beauty. But, we make sure they are taking care of their insides in our household. You could have two hundred people around you doing your make-up, hair, wardrobe and nails and still not feel good about yourself. That's more of what the movement is about, That's why we have a crowd funding going on, so we can get the message out there globally.

MS: By the way Have you seen A Star Is Born with Lady Gaga?

EG: Yeah, I loved it! I thought Gaga was beautiful and transparent. I thought Bradley Cooper was great. It was a lovely movie. She got to show her talent, she's the real thing. She's real and is connected to something "So Pretty."

Here's the 411 on all that is E.G

Here She Goes Again, Yay!
E.G. Daily

Hey peeps, you know all about my friend E.G. Daily...correct? Well after years of doing voice over for various things, most notably Tommy Pickles from Rugrats and acting in everything from the classic Pee Wee's Big Adventure to Rob Zombie's upcoming 31. She is back to her singing career! Can I get an amen and a yay?! Of course I can!!!

With such hits as Say It Say It and Mind Over Matter - E.G. went back to her love of singing in a big way on the hit show The Voice in 2014, she was an audience favorite! She has ridden that wave since then with two popular appearances at the famed Whisky A Go Go on the Sunset Strip. The first being on November 22, 2015 the next being this past weekend on Friday July 22nd 2016 with co-headliner Missing Persons, that's so 80's!

I attended both with Erik Rimmer. This past one I went with him and cool rider Marla Graves. All images are from that night, enjoy!!!

E.G. Daily: Back On Track

EG Daily
No Caption Needed
E.G. Daily is an 80's icon known for movies like Pee Wee's Big Adventure and Valley Girl, as well as her hit singles Say It, Say It and Mind Over Matter.

She is also known for her prolific voice over work as Tommy Pickles on Rugrats, Buttercup in the Powerpuff Girls and Babe in Babe Pig In The City.

Last year E.G. came back to music in a big way by appearing on NBC's The Voice as a member of team Blake Shelton and is continuing that momentum and performing a unique one of a kind show by returning to the place that made her a star on the music scene, the Sunset Strip. Tell us all about it E.G...

MS: E.G. I hear your heading back to the Sunset Strip and performing at The Whiskey A
Go Go this November 22nd.

EG: I'm so excited I'm going to do my classic hits, "Say It, Say It" and "Mind Over Matter" from the 80's and then we're going to do some secret fun tribute things. We're also going to do some tracks from albums over the years and some brand new songs that are soooooo good! It's going to be a blast!

MS: Fun times at a cool venue and the return of E.G. Daily to the Sunset Strip where she started it all...

EG: I've been playing the Sunset Strip since I was fifteen. So it's so cool going back decades later and playing the Whiskey.
MS: When I first moved to Los Angeles you played The Coconut Teaser (now defunct) all the time.

EG: Yeah! I haven't been to the Whiskey in a while but I used to go there all the time, and I can't wait to return!

MS: You really put yourself out there again singing last year on "The Voice" as part of Blake Shelton's team, but kept a really low profile in that area of your career prior to that, what was going on with you?

EG: I went through about a year of depression, overall is was about two years. I had anxiety, I'd wake up at three in the morning panicking and have these adrenaline shakes, all this stuff. Then I started thinking: "What's going on here? What's not working in my life?" That's what you've got to do, you have to go in, you have to reevaluate your life. Then I totally remembered that I love to sing and started doing it every day. Getting back into singing started to change my life. During my two year depression I thought my life was over.

MS: Absolutely, that's how I felt during mine.

EG: When a caterpillar dies, and you think it's dead, but it's actually cooped up. It's reborn as a butterfly. That's what depression is, but when you are going through it, it's scary.

MS: I was ambushed and someone pushed me into therapy.

EG: Good! I went to a doctor and I'm like: "What is wrong with me? I'm dying," He's like: "No you're not your depressed" (both laugh)

MS: So how was it being on "The Voice?"

EG:  I came around again, and it made me brand new!

MS: That's such a great thing about that show, the exposure is amazing!

EG: Yeah, I would have liked to stay on longer, but it was a great experience! I would love to go back on there again.

MS: You've got a new movie coming out, Rob Zombie's "31."

EG
31
EG: It's bad ass! I play a great character in it! The critics are saying it's his best movie ever.

MS: My favorite Rob Zombie movie was the other one you were in, "The Devil's Rejects."

EG: Yeah, well this one they have literally said "31" is his best ever. I have a really cool part in it. I'm looking forward to getting into more acting, with really great, interesting roles again.

MS: So, November 22nd is a Sunday night, correct?

EG: Yes, Sunday night, people should get there around nine, me and my band go on at nine-thirty and we are going to do an hour set. It's going to be a great one of a kind evening, hope to see all of you there!

Pee Wee Herman "Bowtie is the New Black"

Need I Say More?
I'm so excited, and, no, I'm not going to hide it...so there! This ayem while checking out the news, entertainment and otherwise I found this awesome item via Vulture online:

"The news has been rumored for a while, but now it's confirmed: Judd Apatow's long-gestating Pee-wee Herman movie is headed to Netflix, the streaming giant announced today. Pee-wee's Big Holiday will tell the story of how "a fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger inspires Pee-wee Herman to take his first-ever holiday." It's being produced by Judd Apatow and Paul Reubens, written by Reubens and Paul Rust and directed by first-timer John Lee (Broad City). "Bowtie is the new black," said "Pee-wee" in a statement. He's on-brand already!"

Oh Hell to the yes! Pee Wees Big Adventure is one of my favorite films, I remember seeing it my freshman year of college. It was directed by first time and then unknown Tim Burton and it was pure genius!

Years later I sat next to him opening night of my friend E.G. Daily's one woman show Listen Closely, remember her as his girlfriend Dottie in his big adventure? That was so cool!

The pairing of he and Judd Apatow is genius....I'm pulling for you Pee Wee!

PS - Please put E.G. in it too.

Video: E.G. Daily "Wait"

It's time to roll out a video here at "Entertain Me" - "Wait" is an amazing video by friend and interview subject favorite E.G. Daily, who you may remember from such 80's classics as "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" "Valley Girl" & "Bad Dreams".

E.G. has been working on the "Me And a A Gun" project with music producer James Kaufman, for which I interviewed her for the first single and video, the lovely and moving "Somebody's Loving You" for at www.chorusandverse.com - here is the link: http://www.chorusandverse.com/content.php?id=20101210A

While I loved that song, being a horror fan I loved this even more as the visual references gave a shout out to "The Nightmare Before Christmas" as Ms. Daily looks done up like "Sally" from said movie and Rob Zombie's classic "The Devil's Rejects" in which Ms. Daily starred as a hooker who gets shot square in the head and wants to do Princess Leia from "Star Wars" drag...check it out, this song and video rules, word!
