Mic Drop!

Mic Drop!
Cardi B

With Bebe Rehxa nearly losing an eye, Pink getting receiving the ashes of someone's dead mother, giving a concert has become risky business.

Not sure when this off trend of attacking superstar performers came into vogue, but send it back to where it came from (Hell I'm guessing.)

Cardi B is having none of this foolishness! A concert goer threw a drink at her while giving a concert in Vegas and Cardi pelted the concert goes with a mic.

This sh!t has gotten out of control. I've gone to concerts where there were mosh pits and not once any person attending tried to assault the musicians on stage. Seriously if you nail the star attraction and it hurts them badly enough and they have to pump the brakes on the show, then WTF did you pay money for you dimwits?!?! Not to mention you screw the other people attending out of their hard earned money that they paid to be there. So F#ck You!!!

Adele called out concertgoers engaged in such bad behavior: “Have you noticed how people are like, forgetting fucking show etiquette at the moment? People just throwing shit on stage, have you seen them? I fucking dare you. Dare you to throw something at me and I’ll fucking kill you."

I second that Adele.

Here's an article on concert going etiquette, you're welcome

Shirtless Sunday

Gus Kenworthy

This episode of Shirtless Sunday comes straight outta Fire Island Pines. It's former freestyle skier and present actor Gus Kenworthy.

Gus is looking might lickable sporting nothing but a pair of swim trunks walking the plank on Fire Island.

Remember Gus from American Horror Story: 1984? If you're a horror fan like me, of course you do!

So give a right handed salute to Gus on this edition of Shirtless Sunday!

Wing It!

Hot Ones!
Aubrey Plaza

Hey, let's wing it today it's National Chicken Wing day!!! I personally love chicken wings, especially if they are hot 🔥

Look, it's Aubrey Plaza on THE show about chicken wings Hot Ones.

I've seen the show once and all I did was get hungry and jealous of the people chowing down on the wings. So much so I went out and bought some immediately after.

Now that I'm thinking about them I just might, perhaps, maybe, OK definitely get some today.

It's a celebration you know!

It Was 40 Years Ago...

Yesterday Madonna's debut album, Madonna turned 40 years old!  Proving that time is fleeting and our youth is but a waking dream...

I remember the first time I became aware of Madonna was when I was 18 at an eighteen and over club in Seattle, WA called Skoochie's. I was on the dance floor when this video came on with this woman withing on the asphalt and singing about burning up for someone's love. The song was naturally Burning Up, obviously. I was so taken by her bold in your face sexuality and giving zero f#cks attitude I became a Madonna fan on the spot!!!

Also even though I was there with a girl I was seeing I should have ditched her and came out of the closet on the spot.

This album was my jam when it came out and I play many songs off of it still to this day.

Yeah, 40 years old it is, but the memory is a fresh as it was when it happened.

Michael's Musings

Got My Mind On Your Body And Your Body On My Mind
Michael Shinafelt

Like the rest of the world I saw the Barbie Movie this past week. Like most of you (which seems to be everyone who's seent it) I loved it!

Summertime and the living is easy and al that jazz. This week I will catch Oppenheimer, then as far as I'm concerned this will end my tour of duty of movies I need to see in a theater for the rest of the season. Yeah, that's correct Minions that will make a whopping two movies I saw in the theater all summer. What's on your movie agenda???

On this day in 1979 The Amityville Horror was released in 1979 - Oink! 🐖

Why not treat yourself to a good time instead of waiting for someone else to do it?

Finally got around to watching Madonna's Madame X tour on Paramount + I thought it was great! I get why other people didn't it was not a Madonna concert it was performance art

She's not dead, she's just having an existential crisis

I don't mind being the villain in your story because your the clown in mine

At the rate things are going they are going to cancel shampoo so bald people won't be offended

Apparently X marks the spot now, if you know, you know

Some people should wear a leash in public

Woman Crush of the Week - RIP Sinead O'Connor I saw her live at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles and it was amazing, chills went through me.

The trailer for Exorcist: Believer dropped, I have questions

Kudos to America Ferrara who pulled of the monologue of the year in Barbie

Have you ever been chilling out and think...Damn! this is real life!

Happy Belated Birthday to Jennifer Lopez who is 54 and slaying

It's a Cruel Summer, yeah we're having a heat wave as predicted

Hump Day & Chill

Electrifying!
Frankenstein & Bride

"I was working in the lab, late one night, When my eyes beheld an eerie sight

For my monster from his slab, began to rise" - Monster Mash

Frankenstein and his Bride are taking New York City by storm and striking a pose in Times Square, an iconic one at that.

"Levity" is the vibe for this Hump Day & Chill, join me won't you in imbibing in it. You know you want it, and so do I.

I'd make a reference to romance, but I'm sorry the old Michael can't come to the blog, he's evolved.. So this is where it lands and stays "Levity."

Let's let our inner child out in the wild today with inspiration courtesy of Frankie and his Bride.

Live & Livid

Margaret Cho continues to be the must-see comedian with her recent inclusion in VOGUE Magazine’s “9 best female comedians of all-time’ alongside other comedic icons Joan Rivers, Gilda Radner and Wanda Sykes. Additionally, Margaret was named one of Rolling Stone magazine's 50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time (Rolling Stone HERE) while CNN chose her as one of the 50 People Who Changed American Comedy (CNN HERE ).

Now, Margaret - the five-time Grammy and Emmy nominated comedian/actress who has been touring  North America since the start of the year has added brand new dates to her Live and LIVID! tour. Tickets for the Live and LIVID! tour will be on-sale HERE beginning Friday, July 28 at 10AM LOCAL. Please note that the NY Comedy Festival on November 8 and The Event at Graton Resort & Casino in Rohnert Park, CA on Nov. 18 are currently on sale.

“Live and LIVID is a show celebrating my 40 years as a stand up comedian. I will be radiating rage about homophobia, sexism, racism and the fight to stay alive in a culture that is killing us daily. You will love seeing me Live and LIVID! This is living! Come through life!

“I’ve cycled through many names to get to Live and Livid. Absolutely Angry, Bitch and Bitchy, Count on this C***,  but Live and LIVID seems to have a ring to it.” - says Cho.

"The Notorious C.H.O.! Margaret is a jack of all trades and master of many. Whether conjuring the spirits of George Carlin, Joan Rivers or Lenny Bruce, she is committed to navigating the world of comedy and uniquely making it her own.  Completely unapologetic about the life experiences that have shaped her path and journey to where she is today. These are just some of the reasons I love Margaret."  Wanda Sykes

“I was inspired by Margaret. I got my start in comedy because of Margaret.” When I was in medical school and being her opening act at university inspired me to do this full-time. I would always ask Margaret, ‘Should I quit being a doctor? Should I quit medicine?’ I was so tortured, and I know I annoyed her. And she was so patient with me and so loving. It was just like a sibling – and it got me through my own internal confidence crises.“Margaret really is a pioneer in so many ways. Every Asian-American comedian owes a debt of gratitude to Margaret. Also, when I developed my own show, Dr Ken, I had Margaret as my character’s sister for a reason.” Ken Jeong - Click Here

A pioneer amongst women in comedy, Margaret doesn’t take anything for granted as she continues to tackle difficult subjects with sensitivity and her razor sharp insight with her takes on addiction, abuse, activism and Asianness. It's all about the politics of disgust and what is disgusting about politics. Margaret has received many rave reviews for her live shows with the Chicago Tribune saying “Be it on-screen (“30 Rock,” “Drop Dead Diva”) or on stage, Margaret Cho has been one of the most exciting, unpredictable stand-up comics working for some time, and that hasn’t changed. If anything, the Asian-American female comedian’s voice has become more valuable than ever, given today’s social climate, and Cho’s material remains just as compelling, thanks in part to—and sometimes in spite of—her unapologetic delivery.”

Monday Motivation

This Monday Motivation quote rings true especially for me of late. I have learned that you need to trust that people can deal with uncomfortable truths about you and still stick around because they know the best of you.

That has been the best gift that has been given to me. I always felt if you told people the darker things they would run the other way. Not so, the individuals I opened up to surprised me and stuck around and supported me. It even made me closer with one of them.

Why? Because the best of me is worth it and so am I and so are you!!!

Take this with you into the week, trust me people aren't as fragile as you think and know what a great person you are even when you stumble or misbehave, it happens to all of us.

"Strike" A Pose

Grace and Frankie
Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin

With the Writer's Guild and SAG/AFTRA on strike there's a lot of picketing going on in Hollywood. I see the actors and writers out in full force all over the city when I'm out and about.

Here's Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin striking a pose in support of their fellow actors. It's a nice show of solidarity when Hollywood heavy weights like these two actually get out on the picket line. Many do not.

Keep on fighting everyone I stand with you 100%!

Nothing Shocking...
Michael Shinafelt

I really don't have anything of any significance on my mind this week. Thus here is a selfie I shot at one of my favorite local places to eat The Kitchen, which serves up comfort food. On this particular day I was being a basic bitch and having a cheeseburger and fries. For those of you who are wondering I take my meat medium rare...told you nothing significant is on my mind presently, no lies detected.

103 days until Halloween...

Seent a pink dolphin gliding through the ocean on Twitter this morning. So cool!!! I didn't know that a dolphin could be pink, amazing!!!

This hole is not for everyone. Know your limitations. Play at your own risk. The more you know.

I know I'm late to the party, on a recommendation I started binging Elite on Netflix. Love it!!!

Hump Day & Chill

Barbie & Ken
Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling

As the Barbie Movie train is roaring full steam ahead into it's opening weekend and I've made no secret about my desire to see it. Well guess what Minions?! It's more Hump Day & Chill Barbie Movie fun!

"Yes" I have already purchased my ticket for the 1:20 showing at Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Los Angeles. Can't wait to kick back imbibe a margarita and let the good times roll.

This image is giving me Barbie and Ken life! Barbie looks sad to be arrested whilst Ken, seems to think it is a lark of some sort.

Advanced word is the movie is a great and no one seeing it will be disappointed in the least.

Thus you are getting one last Hump Day & Chill to the Barbie Movie before it officially opens. However if I end up loving it as much as I think I will, well now..."Yes" there will be more where that came from!!!

PS I wish Ryan Gosling was my personal Ken Doll!

43 Years Ago Today...

On July 18, 1980 one of the most 80's of all slasher flicks was released Prom Night this was one of the many post Halloween horror flicks starring the Scream Queen du jour Jamie Lee Curtis. "Yes" that Jamie Lee Curtis who won an Oscar last year for Everything, Everywhere All At Once. Once upon a time she was the reigning Queen of Terror.

I watched this again not too long ago because I wondered what I would think of it as an adult type of person that I am now (I was a teenager when it came out) sure it's dated, quite cheesy in places, but it's a fun time capsule as it is so of it's era, as I stated above: "the most 80's of all slasher flicks."

Catch the trailer below and you will understand why I say that. It's really a major reason it's still fun to watch.

Jump to the trailer below and let the 80's slasher flick vibe transport you!!!

PS I dig that mega cheese theme song, it's so lame it's good.

It's what drives me to engage with everything that surrounds me, my curiosity is one of my main life forces.

Thus your Monday Motivation assignment is to be "Passionately Curious" like yours truly.

It's an amazing way to absorb and process everything you encounter throughout the day, trust me and enjoy your Monday!

Update: David Archuleta

Photo:
Zach Schmitt

David Archuleta’s upward spiral continues with the official release of his brand new music video HERE for his latest single, “I’m Yours” HERE “I’m Yours” is a song I wanted to get people dancing and smiling to. It’s all about letting yourself go and being happy with a feel good, summery vibe. It was fun working with video director Brad Hammer and his team because they were able to bring all the bright colors I wanted to life while making things light, fun and unique. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I had fun making it” says David.

David recently spoke about what’s on the horizon musically with Entertainment Weekly – “Up” it’s kind of like the prelude. It’s meant to tie where I’m coming from, my past, my history — but it’s also coming from a place where I was at the bottom of that, at the end of that path. I’ve lived out the end of this, and I don’t know where else to go. This is continuing down a very dark place, and I need to get out of it now. So this is me saying, I’m accepting myself as I am, as a queer person, and letting myself be seen, every aspect of myself. And I’m just letting all of me be seen now. And not being so afraid of hiding myself and being afraid of what people will say if people find out. I’m just like, you know what, now they know! And now it’s just moving up, and I’m gonna have fun. There’s no need to hide anything anymore — just have a good time.  There are some really fun songs that are gonna get people dancing as well, that I’m really excited about. And there are still some classic ballads. I feel like these songs are more about love, something that I always shied away from before because it was something I didn’t relate to. I don’t think I ever really experienced love the way everyone talks about in songs and novels and all that. I’m talking about what it’s like for me to experience it for the first time really and fully. I’m excited to share that, in fun ways, dance ways, and also in ballad-y ways. I’m excited to share this new chapter and these new songs with everyone. The first ones will be out the beginning of summer, leading to a full album release later this year.

In addition, David is set to perform at his first-ever Pride event this Sunday, July 16 in San Diego California alongside Saucy Santana and Princess Nokia - Event Info Here.  ”As this will be my first formal pride performance (outside of Utah’s Loveloud last year) I am looking forward to connecting with the community and learning about what pride events are like. As this will also be my first time attending in a way outside of Loveloud, which is more catered to the Utah culture and community there.”

One Week From Today, The World Forever Changes...

"Yes" Minions one week from today the world forever changes. Barbenheimer will be upon us and what happens in the wake of this remains to be seen. All I know is I can't wait!

The only two movies I had any interest in seeing this summer of course had to open on the same day. It is a blessed event for sure!

Will I be seeing them both on the same day as many are? No, I believe Barbie clocks in at almost two hours and Oppenheimer is three. Too much movie in one day for this guy.

Friday opening day matinee of Barbie for me and then Monday matinee of Oppenheimer is my plan.

What are your plans for the day the world forever changes???

Michael's Musings

Constant Stimulation
Michael Shinafelt

Recently it has been brought to my attention that I tend to need constant stimulation. While I don't think this the whole story I do believe it to be true to some extent. I'm here to let you all know, right here, right now, one of the best gifts you can give yourself is the gift of meditation.

Put the phone down, don't turn on the TV and simply switch off! "Yes" it's that simple and quite beneficial I might add. As soon as I have completed this weeks musings I'm going to do exactly that. Time to move onward...

Saw the documentary about Wham! on Netflix. While hardly revelatory it was very nostalgic for me. "Yes" I am that many years old.

Barbenheimer, Barbenheimer, Barbenheimer that's all I ever hear!!!

Repressing murderous rage with sugar, just sayin'

Congrats to Vanderpump Rules on it's first Emmy Nomination, a well deserved one I might add, and I just did

Please do not feed the whores, the more you know...

Woman Crush of the Week - Courtney Love, because Live Through This is one of the greatest albums ever made IMHO. "Yes" I've been listening to it lately, it's real and spectacular!!!

Hump Day & Chill

Ryan Gosling

Like many of you I can't wait for The Barbie Movie! This being stated it seems that Ken has some layers that we are going to have to Hump Day & Chill to. That's correct Minions no one had Ken as a soul man on their bingo card.

Yet here he is crooning his plastic heart out with the power ballad Just Ken. Thus we have entered the surreal universe of all that is Barbie. But let's not forget Ken, especially since hunky Ryan Gosling is the one portraying him.

Join me won't you and listen to the heartfelt stylings of Ken trying to be his own doll sans Barbie.

Hey Just Ken, I would Hump Day & Chill with you anytime, anywhere, any day...
