Hump Day & Chill

Elizabeth Montgomery
as
Lizzie Borden

"Lizzie Borden took an axe,
And gave her mother forty whacks;
When she saw what she had done,
She gave her father forty-one."

With all the buzz surrounding Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, of course the did she or didn't she kill her parents (personally I believe she did) legend has been in my consciousness.

For the record I turned off Monster after episode three, that's all you need to know about my thoughts on it. However I do remember seeing a much better telling of Lizzie's tale back in 1975 when Elizabeth Montgomery (Yes, Samantha Stevens from Bewitched) portrayed her in The Legend Of Lizzie Borden.

Which sits at an 81% on Rotten Tomatoes with specific praise going to Ms. Montgomery for her portrayal of Lizzie.

No need for you to give someone forty whacks with an axe to enjoy this one. All you need to do is Hump Day & Chill!

Hump Day & Chill

Sarah Michelle Gellar & David Boreanaz
 At The Emmys

The Emmys, like every award show had it's highlights and it's downright cringe moments.

Rather than accentuating the negative we are going to Hump Day & Chill to the positive. One of my favorite high points of the evening: Buffy & Angel reuniting, and it felt so good!!!

"Yes" I am a Buffy The Vampire Slayer stan and to celebrate the slayers 30th anniversary Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz reunited to present the Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a limited anthology series or movie.

They joked about the shows premise, Buffy and Angels age difference. Took a swipe at the pilot for the new Buffy series which was announced and never picked up. They also acknowledged the loss of cast members of the beloved series over the last two years.

Nostalgia is indeed for geeks, of which I am one.

Kylie Minogue & Madonna

"When I feel alone, yeah

I always wanna bring you near
'Cause you bring a smile right here
You chase away my darkest hours
When we go walking, sunlight's all around you
It's all around you
And did I mention? You always bring me
Bring me back with your pure intention" - Love Sensation, Madonna & Kylie Minogue

Summer is coming to a close and I don't know about you but for me the album of the Summer is Madonna Confessions II.

Which produced the epic duet Love Sensation with her Madgesty and one Ms. Kylie Minogue.

Thus let us Hump Day & Chill with some cool vibes during the dog days of Summer, shall we? We shall!

Don't be a buzz kill.

Kirsten Dunst
as
Marie Antoinette

How "chill" are you? No matter how "chill" you are no one will ever be as "chill" as Kirsten Dunst between takes on the set of Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette.

After all it's hard out there playing a doomed historical figure.

Thus today let us all aspire to Hump Day & Chill like Kirsten.

The Shards

Igby Rigney, Hayes Warner, Kaia Gerber & Homer Gere

It's Wednesday again aka Hump Day & Chill aka Shards Night!

"Yes" Minions Shards Night! You know that Ryan Murphy limited series based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel streaming Hulu and Disney+ and airing every Hump Day & Chill until it's completion on FX.

That's The Shards I am referring to.

I for one am thoroughly enjoying it. Hey what's not to like?

With an engaging attractive cast, an edgy storyline, decadence, it being set in the 80's and my personal favorite a pitch black sense of humor, who wouldn't be all in?!

Not to mention I am a connoisseur of Bret Easton Ellis' work. American Psycho and Less Then Zero anyone???

Guess how I am going to Hump Day & Chill this evening?

Really Rhonda???

"Little Death"

"If you've seen his movies, you know, he always comes back." - Billy Presley (Gillian Anderson)

Who always comes back? Well we are going to Hump Day & Chill to them as a matter of fact. It is none other than "Little Death" from the long running Camp Miasma franchise.

And guess what "Little Death" is back in Teen Age Sex and Death at Camp Miasma.

Here's some background on the killer du jour:

"Camp Miasma is a long-running slasher franchise that originated in the 1980s. Its recurring villain is "Little Death", the ghost of a child who was purportedly raised as both boy and girl by their parents. After being drowned by hateful campers, Little Death periodically rises from the lake that borders Camp Miasma, slaughtering everyone they find with a spear. The series' original installments were successful, but a spate of low-quality, unprofitable sequels has left it in limbo."

Wow! "Little Death" seems like they are pretty angry!

Neve Campbell & Ghostface

Today's Hump Day & Chill is brought to you by the movie Scream...

One of my favorite horror movies is Scream straight outta 1996. Thus it was fun to come across this behind the scenes shot on the Internet of Neve Campbell & Ghostface.

Based on this shot the shoot looked exactly as I imagined it to be...fun!!!

So, what's your favorite scary movie?

It's time to break out the wine and the popcorn throw on a scary movie and Hump Day & Chill.

Giving Head
Polyphemus The Cyclops

Have you seen The Odyssey? If you haven't what are you waiting for?! Everyone else has.

We are going to have a Hump Day & Chill with one of the films overlooked key players the terrifying Cyclops.

Odysseus and his men encounter the Cyclops in his cave and he holds them captive, the only options are to escape or die at the single eyed ones hands. I should actually say mouth as this brute tends to like chomping off heads.

I'll mannered and mean! No wonder he's a pitiable, solitary outcast.

There's one thing I wanted to know about Polyphemus that never got answered. Just how hung was he???

Today we are going to Hump Day & Chill to a life lesson from Showgirls. "Yes" I said  Showgirls. Now pay attention all you social climbers out there here it is:

Pronunciation is important

If you’re just wanting to be Joe Shmoe, you can speak however you want. If you’re trying to impress by dropping names, however, you should probably know how to pronounce them. Anyone who has watched Showgirls knows that it’s “ver-SACH-ee,” not “ver-SAYS.” Learning how to pronounce other fashion labels, however, is up to you.

This is all you need to know...

The Women Of The Odyssey

― Homer, The Odyssey

In case you haven't heard The Odyssey, the latest Christopher Nolan epic opens on July 17th.

But of course you most likely already know that. Thus we are going to Hump Day & Chill with this photo shot at the London premiere. The women of The Odyssey.

The Heat Is On
Michael Shinafelt

Hello July...

It's July, officially the hottest month of the Summer, literally. After living the many years I have in Los Angeles, CA it's always been anywhere from 90 - 100 degrees during various parts of it.

So I'm going to dedicate this weeks Hump Day & Chill to the whole month of July. If any month needs it, this is the one.

Instead of an adult beverage might I suggest something hydrating? We're going to need a bigger glass.

Madonna + Connor Storrie + Paris Fashion Week = Pride Month. "Yes" I stated Pride Month, honestly what could scream it more than a gay icon and the star of Heated Rivalry at the Saint Laurent fashion show in Paris during Fashion Week??? I ask you? I'm waiting!

Thus we are going to Hump Day & Chill to the last Wednesday of Pride Month in style.

Joan Rivers

Pssst! In case you aren't in the loop June is Pride Month and what better way to celebrate it than a Hump Day & Chill with the late, great Joan Rivers

Joan is seen here celebrating Pride at the Sydney, AU Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras in 2009. She loved and was beloved by the community.

During these challenging times I really miss Ms. Rivers. Her razor sharp wit and pointed humor is something that would be a welcome respite, right here, right now.

Thus let's Hump Day & Chill in memory of Joan Rivers today.

Happy Pride Month!

Elizabeth Taylor

"I'd cry my eyes violet
Elizabeth Taylor
Tell me for real
Do you think it's forever?" - Elizabeth Taylor, Taylor Swift

Here is the one and only Elizabeth Taylor on the set of Cleopatra. When offered the role Ms. Taylor asked for one million dollars to portray the Queen of the Nile. This was an unheard of salary for an actress at the time.

As the story goes she asked for said amount because she thought they wouldn't pay it. Well much to her surprise they did!

Here's what she said about it:  “If someone is dumb enough to offer me a million dollars to make a picture, I’m certainly not dumb enough to turn it down.”

And it opened up my eyes, I saw the sign" - Ace Of Base, The Sign

Indeed, I saw the sign and it was an epiphany of sorts. Sometimes all it takes is a little nudge to push in the direction you need to go.

Thus you know what? I'm gonna Hump Day & Chill now, think about it, but not too much...

Olivia Rodrigo & Friends

Time to hit the streets of New York and have a Hump Day & Chill moment with Olivia Rodrigo and a group of ballet dancers.

Imagine strolling down a NY street on a lovely day like today and spying Ms. Rodrigo shooting her latest music video with a gaggle of ballet dancers.

How would that make you feel? What would it make you think? Or would you just walk on by without a second look?

Whatever your take this would be a welcome respite from the real world and a definite reason to Hump Day & Chill.

Time to get your plie on!

Head Like A Hole
Zendaya

When we last left Rue Bennett (Zendaya) on Euphoria she was having a Hump Day & Chill.

"Yes" indeed, and as you know spoiler alert, Rue weasels her way out of yet another difficult situation.

I never really thought of digging a hole and to be buried neck deep as a way to Hump Day & Chill, but now I see how Zen and Meditative it can be. Not to mention a great way to connect with the Earth.
