Silencio

Naomi Watts & David Lynch
BTS Mulholland Drive

In honor of David Lynch's passing yesterday I watched Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me on MAX. The streamer also has Blue Velvet on it. I passed on the latter as I had rewatched it a few months ago before his current journey.

I remember seeing Blue Velvet when it hit theaters in 1986. I was in Seattle, WA then and went with two female friends from college. This was a film way ahead of it's time and trust me the sold out audience had a varying array of visceral responses.

One of my friends hated it, she felt the need to go home and take a shower as she put it after because she thought it was disgusting. Me and my other friend found it interesting and were invigorated by the unique vision we had just experienced.

Cut to my recent viewing of it. As a fifty something year old I now see Blue Velvet as a dark comedy that truly was released at a time where audiences weren't quite up to speed. I mean even I was somewhat taken aback by it back in it the day despite my liking it.

RIP David Lynch you challenged me on how I see the world and now I am better for it.

April Fools Etc...

It's April 1st known throughout my life as April Fools Day. I'm officially retiring April Fools as it no longer has any impact in this day and age of fake media.

Every day is a joke anymore of some sort of media perpetuated hoax. Join me and the fifty foot preying mantis in sending this archaic tradition off with a great big RIP!

April Fools! Not!

Rest In Power: Sid Krofft

In Memory Of Sid Krofft

Sid Krofft April 9, 1937 - November 25, 2023 Rest In Power.

Like many of you out there Sid & Marty Krofft shows were an integral part of my childhood.

I couldn't wait to watch them every Saturday Morning! While there were many such as Land Of The Lost, The Banana Splits etc... My personal favorite was H.R. Pufnstuf.

Most likely because it happened on a magical island with a crazy witch, named Wilhelmina W. Witchiepoo. "Yes" I loved witches when I was growing up (still do for that matter)

Whatever your favorite, Sid Krofft and his brother really impacted every child of a certain generation. Hey, I followed him on Instagram that's how much his shows meant to me!

His legacy will live forever.

Remembering Marilyn Monroe

Today is the 61st anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's passing. To commemorate it here is a still from my favorite Marilyn movie The Misfits written by her then husband Arthur Miller and directed to the great John Houston.

Marilyn's portrayal of Roslyn Taber was simply one of her best. The photo is from my favorite scene in the film where Roslyn dances with abandon among the trees. I'm really not sure how else to describe it, other than the scene itself is mesmerizing.

In The Ghetto

Elvis & Lisa Marie Presley

I was sad to hear the news of the passing of Lisa Marie Presley yesterday. So young, gone way to soon.

My condolences to her children and surviving family members. I'm going to leave you with my favorite thing she did musically. A duet with her Dad, the amazing Elvis Presley of In The Ghetto.

Rest In Power - you are now back in the arms of your Father...
