"This whole world's wild at heart and weird on top" Lula, Wild At Heart
While exiting Hollywood Forever Cemetery post yoga yesterday I happened upon the final resting place of filmmaker David Lynch with many items of tribute scattered around his marker.
Being a Lynch fan I just had to take a picture and share it with all of you.
Thus today we are going to Hump Day & Chill to the greatness of David Lynch.
Wild At Heart is my favorite film by him, so I used my favorite quote from it at the top of this Hump Day & Chill post, naturally.
I'm sure seeing him at peace memories of his genius come flooding back to many of you.
Hump Day & Chill and reminisce about them...

In honor of David Lynch's passing yesterday I watched Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me on MAX. The streamer also has Blue Velvet on it. I passed on the latter as I had rewatched it a few months ago before his current journey.
I remember seeing Blue Velvet when it hit theaters in 1986. I was in Seattle, WA then and went with two female friends from college. This was a film way ahead of it's time and trust me the sold out audience had a varying array of visceral responses.
One of my friends hated it, she felt the need to go home and take a shower as she put it after because she thought it was disgusting. Me and my other friend found it interesting and were invigorated by the unique vision we had just experienced.
Cut to my recent viewing of it. As a fifty something year old I now see Blue Velvet as a dark comedy that truly was released at a time where audiences weren't quite up to speed. I mean even I was somewhat taken aback by it back in it the day despite my liking it.
RIP David Lynch you challenged me on how I see the world and now I am better for it.

Yesterday was Filmakker David Lynch's Birthday. With all the Social Media posts that naturally happened this post about Inland Empire caught my wandering eye. It stopped and made me reminisce about this piece of darkness and how much it really did get under my skin.
Whilst like most individuals Mullholland Drive is my favorite Lynch film, Inland Empire is a close second and the one that truly made my skin crawl (sorry Blue Velvet &Eraserhead)
There's a hoplessness within it, and a heartlessness that just, well, I don't know is hard to explain to anyone who hasn't seen it and even those who have can't quite put it into words. It does stick with you and frankly hasn't left since I saw the film when it first came out in 2006.
Laura Dern gives a virtuoso performance at the center of it all. I remember when David Lynch himself sat outside of Tower Records on the Sunset Strip with a banner and a cow (yes, a cow) touting Dern for a Best Actress Oscar Nomination.
So happy belated Birthday to Mr. David Lynch and in honor of it I'm going to rewatch Inland Empire again, it's time...

| Multiverse of Madness David Lynch |
No surprise that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cleaned up at the box office this weekend. But did you ever wonder what the multiverse would look like through the eyes of filmmaker David Lynch?
Well Minions we need to wonder no more, here he is the one and only David Lynch in his very own multiverse of madness which consists of him and mass quantities of Woody Woodpeckers!
How's that for the start of the work week?
Yeah, I figured as much...

| So Cool: Patricia Arquette |
Patricia Arquette: I had a big fight with one paparazzo.
Amy Adams: I wish I had been there to have your back.
Patricia Arquette: He kept following us. And I said, "OK, leave us the fuck alone." And he goes, "Nice, mom! Good job!" I said, "I'm teaching my daughter. If a man is following you and you tell him to go away and he doesn't, you turn around and say, 'F— you!' as loud as you can." Because there's no difference. I don't care if he has a camera.
