Current Mood

Well some clever Minion out in the ether made this meme and of course it made it's way onto the WWW. "Yes" it's the Firestarter mash up we all didn't know we needed until now.

To make it precise it takes an image of Drew Barrymore from the Firestarter movie and the lyrics from the song Firestarter by Prodigy and makes into one direct hit of a Current Mood.

Make of it what you will, but this definitely captures part of my vibe today. The more aggressive side shall we say...

Don't say I didn't give you the heads up!

Enjoy your Sunday Funday and don't start any fires you can't follow through on.

Monday Motivation

No pretending anymore, it's time to take a risk and potentially embarrass yourself.

Taking risks is one of the keys to life I have learned of late, not pretending is a road to happiness.

Monday Motivation indeed.

Bend it like Drew (and yours truly.)

That's So Drew

Flash Ah-ah
Drew Barrymore

Having been around Drew throughout the years this is so her, and not remotely a surprise. She's like a fairy, magical and wonderful...

There's a first time for everything, just ask Drew Barrymore.

The actress started experiencing her first hot flash during the March 27 episode of her eponymous talk show with guests Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler by her side.

"I am so hot, I think I'm having my first perimenopause hot flashes," Drew said while removing her blazer and fanning herself. "For the first time, I think I'm having my first hot flash. Whoa!"

Jennifer then quipped, "Oh, I feel so honored," as she helped Drew loosen the bow on her blouse.

Sunday Funday

Give It A Name...
Drew Barrymore and an Anonymous Chicken

Today we finally receive the answer to that age old question: "Why did the chicken cross the road?" The answer is: "To hang with Drew Barrymore!" Now that's a good reason, not a million reasons, but one good one.

Drew is sharing the joy of this moment by posing with said chicken on the streets of NYC. While filming The Drew Barrymore Show, naturally.

Ahhh...Sunday Funday!

My only remaining question "?" Who's that chicken??? I mean doesn't the chicken have a name?! He's almost famous...

"There's No Place Like Home..."

She's Got The Power
Drew Barrymore

As Halloween draws nigh, only 22 more days! You are going to see me getting more Haloweenie with it on here. That's correct Minions I'm gonna be letting my spirit, so to speak, loose on you.

Today here to help with the Entertain Me Countdown to Halloween is Drew Barrymore as what else? Glinda the Good Witch straight outta OZ.

Drew is perfection as Glinda right down to the personality, if you've seen her talk show you know this about her. Thus it really comes as no surprise she chose her as her Halloween alter ego.

So why don't we all click our heels together and repeat after me three times "I can't wait for Halloween..."

Do it and do it now!!!

Can We Talk? It's National TV Talk Show Host Day

Did you know that with only 8 days left until Halloween that October 23rd is National TV Talk Show Host Day? Why October 23rd may you ask? You may actually, it's in honor of the King of Talk Shows the late Johnny Carson, because it happens to be the date of his birth.

If you don't know who Johnny Carson is, Google him, you are in for a real treat, no tricks. Moving on, also a treat is Drew Barrymore's talk show, called The Drew Barrymore Show, naturally...

"Yes" there are many talk shows, oh so many, I could have chosen to spotlight on this hallowed day, but I chose Drew. Why? Because she is so authentic and enthusiastic on her show, her feel good vibes are quite infectious.

Another reason is, I have encountered Ms. Barrymore off an on throughout the years and she has always been one of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met. So, yeah I could be somewhat bias, but I do believe if tune in you will be won over by her unique one of a kind energy that is Drew Barrymore.

That's All Folks!

Michael's Musings

Vogue???
Michael Shinafelt
In this week's episode of As The Quarantine Turns it's been Netflix & Chill all the way Minions. Hey, I had to see Tiger King to find out what the deal was. Then there was the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Grace & Frankie and Santa Clarita Diet... and many more to come.

Thus I bet you can tell you are headed for a lot of opinions this week, oh yes you are!

My take away from Tiger King? Carole Baskin totally knows what happened to her husband and had something to do with it.

That Geico commercial with Ratt makes me laugh every time I see it

I burned my last F#ck a fortnight ago

Santa Clarita Diet is off the wall fun! You haven't lived until you've seen Drew Barrymore biting a guys fingers off!

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a lot like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Edgy, dark, funny, topical and smart 😈 "Yes" that is a recommendation.

Just Because...Charlie's Angels

Angels We Have Heard On High
l-r
Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott & Ella Balinska
Good Morning Angels! Here is an image of the newest trio of Charlie's Angels at the premiere in Los Angeles. "Yes" it's the reboot no one was asking for, starring Kristen Stewart and two women I have never heard of.

Most notable thing about it is it is written and directed by Elizabeth Banks... Oh that Effie

So I wonder, yes I wonder, what this is going to be like. From the trailers it seems like a more grounded take on the Drew Barrymore produced version of the TV series with the same amount of levity thrown in, and more grrrrrrrl power!

I have bared witness to Tweets that have raved about it, yet there is no score or advance reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Tweets are an easy get, if you know what I mean. Reviews not so much.

Thus I find the sign of no early reviews a daunting quandary. Translation, this reboot more than likely is not good. However I am rooting for Banks, who I personally like to keep on moving as a filmmaker.

That's all! Check out the trailer for the latest CA incarnation below!

Just Because...Justin Theroux

Riding On Bikes With Boys
Justin Theroux
Just Because he looks yummy in a sleeveless Britney Spears T-Shirt, Just Because his guns are a blazing and Just Because of his freeballing ways, here is Justin Theroux out and about on his bike in New York City.

I remember really noticing Justin for the first time when was oh so bad in the Charlie's Angels follow-up, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Justin was so hot being the sadistic criminal Seamus O'Grady who is the Ex of Dylan Sanders (Drew Barrymore) in the movie.

"Yes" he made my toes curl, and then some. I then remembered him from David Lynch's Mulholland Drive where he portrayed another lousy member of the male sex. You know the real portion, not the dream portion of this living Hollywood nightmare.

While he is a good actor, there is nothing like the many images of Justin freeballing on the WWW. He gives Jon Hamm a run for his money, ah Hell who am I kidding, I could never choose one or the other in this case, we'd have to compromise and go menage.

Thus I leave you Justin and his Theroux on this Sunday, June 2nd 2019.

Woot!

Hump Day & Chill

Bad Boy
Justin Theroux
There's something about Justin Theroux. He first came to my attention as Seamus O'Grady in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, don't judge.
Seamus O'Grady
Justin Theroux
He was Dylan Sanders' (Drew Barrymore) bad boy, I mean really bad boy, ex-boyfriend. I remember his handsome face, bulging biceps & six pack abs, oh and him being oh so sexy and bad. "Yes" like Dylan I used to gravitate towards the naughty ones.

Well imagine my delight to find out you can spy what Justin naked in a few other notable things he has done on the WWW. Such as The Leftovers and Six Feet Under - you can see that Jennifer Aniston's ex-hubby is packing large on a link below to the OMG Blog.

Trust, it's real and it's spectacular.

Just Because...Drew Barrymore

Team Jake
Drew Barrymore
Just Because it's the weekend, Just Because the Santa Clarita Diet is in season deux & Just Because she's holding a sign that makes you go Hmmmmmm - "Yes" peeps it's Drew Barrymore at the premiere of her hit Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet in Hollywood.

OK, while I love me some Drew I am not sure why she is holding a sign that says "I Heart Jake Gyllenhaal" at her premiere.

Am I missing something??? Well apparently I am - as a little bird called the WWW informed me that Ms. Barrymore ranked Jake as her least talented co-star on The Late, Late Show With James Corden. It was either that or....drum roll please, or eat a turkey testicle.

Thus our intrepid Drew carried a sign declaring her love for Jake down that red carpet on her special night. That Drew always a giver.

Just Because...The Odd Couple

Sharon Stone & Drew Barrymore

Just because it's the 4th of July weekend, just because this image proves once and for all Sharon Stone is a vampire & just because Drew Barrymore has such an infectious smile, I present to you this photo of them as you've never seen them before...together!

Who knew that these two knew each other let alone crossed paths for this photo opp in the early part of the decade.

Marvel about how Sharon never seems to age. Behold Drew's charm. Wow! This is an all sorts of special moment!!!

Being a fan of both I'm glad I found this while surfing the WWW now I have it here on Entertain Me to infinity and beyond.

Just Because...Drew Barrymore

Desperately Seeking Drew
Drew Barrymore
Behold a photo of Drew Barrymore out-n-about in New York City this past week. Seeing Drew these days is much like a Big Foot or Loch Ness Monster sighting, very rare. She has kept a low public profile in recent years, and been a more behind the scenes person than an in front of the camera one.

Seeing this image made me feel nostalgic for when Drew was everywhere, doing the Charlie's Angels movies and all those Rom-Coms. Not to mention appearing in and producing one of my fave films Donnie Darko. Now I didn't see any of her Rom-Coms with the exception of The Wedding Singer, which was actually good, but since I am not really a fan of the genre...

I've met Drew a handful of times in various situations which ranged from her shopping at Tower Records Sunset to an after party for Courtney Love and Hole post their Palladium concert. Each time she was such warm & welcoming a total sweetheart.

Here's hoping to see Drew raise her public profile again, the world needs all the positive energy it can get!

Remember "Donnie Darko"?

Can We Be Frank? The World Is Going To End...
I remember seeing "Donnie Darko" when it first came out and being blown away by it. A film that was definitely ahead of it's time, and now timely. Oh by the way, "Frank" is dope!!!

DONNIE DARKO LIMITED EDITION [Blu-ray + DVD] (April 18th)

Fifteen years before Stranger Things combined science-fiction, Spielberg-ian touches and 80s nostalgia to much acclaim, Richard Kelly set the template - and the high-water mark - with his debut feature, Donnie Darko. Initially beset with distribution problems, it would slowly find its audience and emerge as arguably the first cult classic of the new millennium.

Donnie is a troubled high school student: in therapy, prone to sleepwalking and in possession of an imaginary friend, a six-foot rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world is going to end in 28 days 06 hours 42 minutes and 12 seconds. During that time he will navigate teenage life, narrowly avoid death in the form of a falling jet engine, follow Frank's maladjusted instructions and try to maintain the space-time continuum.
Jake Gyllenhaal & Jena Malone
Described by its director as "The Catcher in the Rye as told by Philip K. Dick", Donnie Darko combines an eye-catching, eclectic cast - pre-stardom Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, heartthrob Patrick Swayze, former child star Drew Barrymore, Oscar nominees Mary McDonnell and Katherine Ross, and television favourite Noah Wyle - and an evocative soundtrack of 80s classics by Echo and the Bunnymen, Tears for Fears and Duran Duran. This brand-new 4K restoration, carried out exclusively for this release by Arrow Films, allows a modern classic to finally receive the home video treatment it deserves.

Mowed Over: Scream Queens

I Will Survive!
Nick Jonas & Ariana Grande
In tribute to Deaf Taylor Swift's passing in the series premiere of Scream Queens, first off let me say I am mowed over by it! Yes, death by lawnmower blows, but it was one of the highlights from the two hour debut of mayhem, murder and things that are politically incorrect.

Hey I loved the show and will be watching as the rest of the evil unfolds.

Want a few updates tied to the premiere? Well as we saw Nick Jonas who plays the token gay, Boone was offed by that gender neutral Devil killer. But in a twist of fate we saw at the end he was indeed alive and will live to pop a boner again with Chad (Glen Powell) - Since he has clearly sold his soul to the Devil in disguise, perhaps there is a more insidious agenda going on.

The yummy Nick has this to say about it “I can tell you that he is a part of the team of people involved in this master revenge plan, His history with it goes very, very deep.”

That's Hot!

Bad news for those of you, like me, thought Ariana Grande was going to be like Drew Barrymore was in Scream and have a really great memorable (not to mention hilarious) death scene and be done.

According to co-creator Ryan Murphy“She comes back I believe in episode 6 and maybe more. She’s recurring definitely. Everyone thinks she’s gone but she’s not gone. We’re just not sure how exactly she’s returning." Really?! “I wouldn’t say ghost. Nothing you think is happening is happening on the show. You think some people are dead — they’re not dead.”

Well OK, I for one am not a fan of this, but hey, you never know, it MIGHT work.

PS, Jamie Lee Curtis, of course kills in this! Hey at this point in the show, you never know this could end up being a literal statement...

Where In The World Is Drew Barrymore???

Drew Barrymore Italian Style

Drew Barrymore hasn't been in the spotlight much of late and if you are like me you might have thought on occasion: Where in the world is Drew Barrymore?

Well as it turns out she is in Italy, yes that's correct Drew broke out her black one piece swimsuit and got all Italian on our asses!

So now the other burning question still remains, when are we going to see Drew in a movie again?

Turns out November 6th will be that day. Drew will be starring opposite one of my other faves Toni Collette as well as Dominic Cooper in Miss You Already, which is described as a romantic dramedy.

Congratulations on completing Drew Barrymore 101 - enjoy your Labor Day Weekend Sunday!

One, Two, He's Coming For You...Wes Craven

The Man of Your Nightmares
Wes Craven
"The first monster you have to scare the audience with is yourself" - Wes Craven

One of my favorite filmmakers, Wes Craven has passed away. He directed Meryl Streep in her Oscar Nominated role in Music of the Heart and one of my favorite popcorn thrillers Red Eye with Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy.

However he will always be known for his works of horror, most notably the high profile Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream films.

I remember when both came out. Each was heralded as contributing something unique to the horror genre.

Scream with it's unique blend of wit and scares revived horror movies at a time when the genre was pretty much dead.

As a huge horror fan I thought I had seen it all, but nothing could have prepared me for the opening scene of Drew Barrymore being stalked and ultimately murdered. It was truly frightening on every level you could imagine, her dying merely feet away from her parents gasping for air and trying to get their attention will stay with me forever!

A Nightmare on Elm Street was notorious for making people afraid to dream. It truly was the stuff sweet dreams aren't made of.

R.I.P.

Author M.E. Franco Brings It For Halloween!!!

Tombstone Hugger, M.E. Franco
Yes, it's that time of the year again Halloween! Every year here on Entertain Me I have fellow horror lover and author M.E. Franco stop by for some tricks, treats, but most of all fun!
M.E. is the author of the popular supernatural thriller Dion trilogy, Where Will You Run, Where Will You Hide & Where Will You Turn.
I asked her 10 Questions in the spirit of the season, read how she answered...if you dare!

MS: If you were a freak what kind of freak would you be?
ME: From a very young age, I've had this fascination with sword swallowers. It freaks me out and captivates me at the same time. I want to watch, but I don't want to watch, but I have to watch... I'm not the only one, everyone holds their breath when the sword swallower comes out. It's truly scary, but you can't look away. That's what I'd choose to be: the sword swallower.
MS: What did you think of the series finale of True Blood?
ME: Lame comes to mind, but I'll go with a bad vampire pun and say that it sucked, but not in a good way. I was disappointed.
Look, It's Reinn
MS: Which character in your supernatural thriller Dion series of books do you have a crush on?
ME: I really wanted to focus a lot on Raith when I started, but when I wrote the second book, Reinn stole my heart. (Don't tell Raith).
MS: If birds of a feather flock together, what do bats do?
ME: Hang out. (I'm full of bad puns today)
Adam Levine: I Win Satan!
MS: Satan and Adam Levine both want your soul, who do you give it to?
ME: Have to go with Adam, he has better tattoos Although I hear Satan is quite the singer.
Michael Myers Experiences Frequent Neck Pain
MS: Michael Myers asks you on a date with a nod and a blank stare, what is your answer?
ME: "I don't remind you of your sister or a babysitter, do I?"
Hey Drew, What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?
MS: Name one of your favorite death scenes in a horror movie.
ME: I thought Drew Barrymore's death in Scream was masterful. That whole scene with her was truly creepy.

MS: What type of wine do you enjoy with your Fava Beans?
ME: I think a nice, old vine zin would be a fabulous pairing, although I hear they also go well with chianti.
C'mon M.E. Show Me Those Fangs
MS: You have been turned into a vampire, what is the first thing that you would do?
ME: Bite Gerard Butler. Wait...that sounds creepy, but I don't think if violates the restraining order.
MS: Driving down a deserted country road you spot Morgan Le Fay hitchhiking, do you give her a ride?
ME: Absolutely I would! It's always good to have a powerful sorceress who owes me a favor. Plus, she could probably afford the Cheetos and Diet Dr. Pepper for the trip.

TV Watch: "Charlie's Angels"

Now that my very favorite show on TV, "True Blood" has come to an end for another year (yes, waiting does suck!) what is a pseudo TV fan to do...?

Well here is a show that I grew up with, "Charlie's Angels." It is no secret that it is getting a re-boot as a TV series (for the sophomore time).

After two great, tongue in cheek movies starring two of my favorites,  Drew Barrymore (Executive Producer of the films and the TV show) & one of the best comedic actresses around Cameron Diaz, I have, I don't want to say high hopes, but expectations to be entertained with a new twist (like the movies) on an old, but loved series.

I remember as a kid watching the Angels jiggle their way through many adventures, my favorite Angel of all time was of course Farrah Fawcett. Her hair was almost like a supporting character in the series, it was pure camp heaven!

Who knows what to expect from the 3rd incarnation of this classic, that being stated I will be watching tonight to see how it plays out....how about you?
