Comi-Con 2019: The Eternals

Surprise!
Angelina Jolie
So what kind of monster would I be if I didn't acknowledge the one of the biggest, most influential entertainment spectacles on the planet Comi-Con in San Diego? What kind of monster would I be? I'm asking you? Come on you lovers of the fantastic, surely you can come up with something???

Lucky for you, you won't have to as I am giving a wink and a nod to it by posting this pic of Angelina Jolie swooping down on the convention Maleficent style to surprise all you comic loving monkeys.

Now Ms. Jolie I suppose was there in part to promote the upcoming sequel to Maleficent, but she had something even more devilish planned. "Yes" Angelina revealed she is soon to become part of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe for the uninitiated) - she will be portraying Thena in The Eternals.

Like me you are most likely scratching something on your being and asking "WTF is an Eternal?!" fear not her is the explanation straight from IMDb's mouth:

"The saga of the Eternals, a race of immortal beings who lived on Earth and shaped its history and civilizations."

Alrighty then. The Eternals is set for release on November 6th 2020, seems like almost an eternity...Ha!

Stranger Things, Monsterpalooza

The Odd Couple
Ann Robinson & Ron Jeremy

This past weekend an event that is stranger than fiction and on the edge of glory took place in Pasadena, CA. Prepare thy self for Monsterpalooza!

Monsterpalooza celebrates the art of monsters and movie magic. Which brings me to the stranger than fiction part of the event.

Call it When Ann Met Ron or Two Worlds Collide, or whatever your devilish little heart desires. The palooza brought together classic War of the Worlds (1953) star Ann Robinson and an all together unique kind of creature Ron Jeremy. Ron in case you aren't aware is famous for the giant monster inside his pants, a porn star!

When I saw this image of beauty and the hedgehog come through on my Facebook feed via Ann's son, musician Estefan Bravo, well being a giver I just had to post it to kick off the week.

On that note, enjoy your Monday and if you are observant, Happy Passover!

One, Two, He's Coming For You...Wes Craven

The Man of Your Nightmares
Wes Craven
"The first monster you have to scare the audience with is yourself" - Wes Craven

One of my favorite filmmakers, Wes Craven has passed away. He directed Meryl Streep in her Oscar Nominated role in Music of the Heart and one of my favorite popcorn thrillers Red Eye with Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy.

However he will always be known for his works of horror, most notably the high profile Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream films.

I remember when both came out. Each was heralded as contributing something unique to the horror genre.

Scream with it's unique blend of wit and scares revived horror movies at a time when the genre was pretty much dead.

As a huge horror fan I thought I had seen it all, but nothing could have prepared me for the opening scene of Drew Barrymore being stalked and ultimately murdered. It was truly frightening on every level you could imagine, her dying merely feet away from her parents gasping for air and trying to get their attention will stay with me forever!

A Nightmare on Elm Street was notorious for making people afraid to dream. It truly was the stuff sweet dreams aren't made of.

R.I.P.

If This Doesn't Scare You...

Get him out of here. He broke Stevie!
Lily Rabe
The most titillating piece of casting news from American Horror Story: Hotel was announced this week and it's insane, literally.

Lily Rabe is set to portray serial killer Aileen Wournos who will be the center piece of the AHS two part Halloween episode. Boo indeed!

Rabe will be amazing as the mentally unstable prostitute who killed her johns.

Charlize Theron won an Oscar for her portrayal of Wournos in Monster, I smell an Emmy for Rabe with this casting.

I already love Halloween and this gets me even more excited for the most wicked time of the year...!

Unleash The Monster With Dudley Saunders

Dudley Saunders Morphs
OK, I have never really commented on my posts about the quite talented and intensely moving artist Dudley Saunders, well there you go I just did. Here is his latest video Monster from his amazing CD (which I have) Monsters.

Here is Dudley's statement below about his latest from In These Boxes...

"Generations passed. This is a tintype photo, the first image of family they’d ever owned. He was maybe Jonny’s great-grandson, and he was not a killer: he courted many women. But when he saw the photo, he did not believe it. It was not who he was. It was not who was in control of him. He never married, and died in a mountain hollow after missing a curve he’d driven all his life."

Charlize Theron, and She's In Leather!

Bad Ass! Charlize Theron
Actress and Seducer of Living Things Charlize Theron, did this hotter than Hell photo featured in W Magazine.

There is also an interview to go with it, no I didn't read it I was too distracted by this image to care what was said honestly. Although I am willing to bet it had something to do with her upcoming movie the awesome looking Mad Max Fury Road.

Sorry Charlize I know there is more to you than beauty but....WOW!

I used to work at United Talent Agency the house that represented Ms. Theron when here career first started. Even then there was a buzz about her. Her then agent the late and wonderful J.J. Harris sent out an excited E-mail announcing her arrival. Even then everyone knew she would be a star.

She has it all, beauty, talent & brains.

While I love Charlize in all that she does, I must cite my two favorite performances by her. Of course there is the obvious her Oscar winning turn as Aileen Wuornos is Monster. She also played the wickedest Queen seen outside of RuPaul's Drag Race in Snow White and the Huntsman.

Mad Max Fury Road looks kick ass, I can't wait to take the ride with Charlize and the rest of the cast on May 15th! Check out the awesome trailer below...Varooooooooooom!

Lauren Bacall's Passing Ends The "Vogue" Era

Lauren Bacall

With the passing of the last of the great Hollywood Broads, Lauren Bacall, this now marks the end of an era for the Madonna mega hit Vogue.

Yes, every amazing star named in the the monster 1990 smash Vogue has now passed away.

Wow! But what a great homage to all of those unique and singular talents of yesteryear this song is and shall ever remain.

As much as I loathe Madonna's recent output this is and will remain a song for the ages and in honor of Ms. Bacall's passing and all the other legends in it, let's have a moment and -

"Come on, vogue
Let your body move to the music"...
