Angels We Have Heard On High
l-r
Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott & Ella Balinska
Good Morning Angels! Here is an image of the newest trio of Charlie's Angels at the premiere in Los Angeles. "Yes" it's the reboot no one was asking for, starring Kristen Stewart and two women I have never heard of. Most notable thing about it is it is written and directed by Elizabeth Banks... Oh that Effie! So I wonder, yes I wonder, what this is going to be like. From the trailers it seems like a more grounded take on the Drew Barrymore produced version of the TV series with the same amount of levity thrown in, and more grrrrrrrl power! I have bared witness to Tweets that have raved about it, yet there is no score or advance reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Tweets are an easy get, if you know what I mean. Reviews not so much. Thus I find the sign of no early reviews a daunting quandary. Translation, this reboot more than likely is not good. However I am rooting for Banks, who I personally like to keep on moving as a filmmaker. That's all! Check out the trailer for the latest CA incarnation below!
Well, well, well the first full length feature trailer for Disney's live action version of their animated classic Beauty and the Beast has been released. I have one thing to say: for the love of Emma Watson, magnificent! This looks like the reel deal. Yes, I meant to spell real that way, as it seems like a really heartfelt & beautiful transition from animation to live action that has the heart and soul of the material of which it is based on. Personally, I loved the animated BB when it came out in theaters. That's pretty abnormal for someone who really has not liked many animated films since he was a child. I believed I actually dropped a tear or two, FML! Now onto my Emma Watson love. I am a curmudgeon, thus I so could not get into the first Harry Potter epic that I did not watch the others. But Emma has really proved herself to be an intelligent, poised not to mention articulate young woman who I greatly admire. I did see her in My Week With Marilyn though, In short, she is one of my girl crushes. Dear Emma, hey you, I will be seeing this. Respect & admiration always...jump to the trailer below!
Whose Lipstick Is Best? Jared Leto & Margot Robbie
One would think getting up close and personal with Jared Leto would be all kinds of sexy, right? Well apparently it's nasty, and not in the fun way, when he is made-up to portray The Joker in Suicide Squad. Co-Star Margot Robbie who plays Harley Quinn his love interest and partner in crime explains that there were 10 minute make-up touch ups in between takes of the kissing scenes. Now I am not sure how many of you are familiar with the technical end of how takes work, but that is a massive effort for one shot, wow! But, she had no problem putting the moves on Leto in his scary ass Joker get up. Once you get over the initial shock she explained it becomes normal. I bet! Suicide Squad opens Friday. Check out the trailer below...
Is there or isn't there a same sex couple in the upcoming Disney/Pixar production Finding Dory? There is a scene in the trailer which depicts two women caring over a baby in a stroller. Hmmmmmm...while no speculation has been addressed directly here is what Dory aka Ellen Degeneres has to say about it: "I personally think it's a great thing, I think everything that we see in the media, whether it's television or film or anything you see—should represent everything that's happening in the world. I think everybody that is in the world should be seen and represented." Ellen did have one issue with the potential same sex couple in Finding Dory. "One woman has a very bad short haircut, which I find very offensive" Ha! At least it isn't a damned mullet! Find out the full scoop when Finding Dory hits theaters this Friday June 17th. OK, I had heard Grace of Monaco, starring one of my favorite actresses, Nicole Kidman was not all that good. This latest news on the indefinitely delayed film which was supposed to premiere in theaters in November of 2013. Well to put it mildly it is by passing the silver screen all together now and premiering on Lifetime May 25th, WTF!?
Nothing says bad like a Lifetime movie, and this must be some sort of awful since it costs $30 Million to make, the highest budgeted TV movie of the week ever. Kidman, however, has defended the film, saying that it is not meant to be a biopic or documentary, but is just a "small part of Grace Kelly's life when she reveals her great humanity as her fears and weaknesses." Well at the very least, unlike a lot of acting in Lifetime movies, I am sure Kidman will deliver a great performance. Check out the trailer below -
Here is the second lyric video from Dudley Saunder'sIN THESE BOXES. The Man In The Game. Here is the text that precedes it.
Generations pass and it’s the 1990s. I am living in New York at the height of the AIDS crisis, and this teenage boy is living in a trailer in eastern Kentucky. He lives with his grandmother, who has diabetes and sleeps a lot, and there are no men at home. But there is a man in the video game, and he talks to him, and invites him into manhood, of a kind. Check out the video and song by this talented guy after the jump!
OK, here comes something I feel obligated to post as it is all the Internet rage right now the first official trailer for the movie based on the wildly popular E.L. James domination epic Fifty Shades of Grey.
Hey sex sells and this will increase traffic to my blog so here goes my two cents worth on it, OK it's more like fifty cents worth.
First of all my only familiarity with the novel is it's own notoriety, I have not read it, nor could I pick out author E.L. James in a line up.
That being stated, I found the trailer interesting, although the dialogue is rather stilted, but I am a big proponent of supporting films that explore sexuality in an interesting, adult, erotic and sexy manner.
Having just made that statement that is territory best left to independent filmmakers, the last time any Hollywood studio made good films regarding sexuality in an adult and frank manner was, a quite golden age of cinema to me, the 1970's.
Also an interesting fact, when I heard the unique version of Beyonce's Crazy In Love adding ambiance to the trailer I assumed Universal paid someone to cover it so they would not have to pay through the nose to license it. Only to find out not only did they license the song, they paid Queen B to re-record the vocals in a lusty manner herself.
Uh, Wow! That's a big vote of confidence, they are really marketing this film like a summer blockbuster sure to add some sort of something extra to your Valentine's Day 2015.
Universal did smartly choose two little know TV actors Dakota Johnson from Ben and Kate as submissive Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan from Once Upon A Time as dominant Christian Grey. Therefore they come into the movie with no baggage of an already preconceived notion of who they are to the world at large.
Rumor has it that Universal has an R and NC-17 version of the film they are going to release. The trailer does intrigue me enough to rate it an "I'm curious to see it" on my need to see meter.
But should I actually make the effort to go remains to be seen and if I do, it will be the NC-17 version all the way!
Yep it's that time again, the 4th of July when all Americans celebrate our independence, life, liberty and the pursuit of shooting off fireworks.
And what better way to start the Holiday off with a bang than this very patriotic publicity shot of Raquel Welch from one of the best "bad films" ever Myra Breckinridge.
Talk about shooting off some fireworks nothing beats Raquel Welch in sheer terms of hotness and sex appeal.
Raise a flag in her honor and have a fun, safe and sexy July 4th everyone!
C'mon you all know you want to get down in a movie theater this Friday with Maleficent, starring the perfectly cast Angelina Jolie, yes, yes you do and so do I!
I have to say I am excited to see Jolie play the biggest Disney villain ever and transform into a Drag Queen, I mean Dragon, but really let's face it Maleficent is a DQ as a well as a bad ass and I am not talking Dairy Queen. When I first saw Angelina on the big screen it was for her Oscar winning role in Girl Interrupted and during her press rounds pimping her turn as Maleficent she had this to say about it: "I really, genuinely thought I was the only character who was sane in the entire film. And if you watch it closely, that's exactly how I was playing it: I am just the only sane person here. I was actually almost upset when people said I was so good at playing insane because I never thought she was insane. She was just incredibly honest, which, I guess, made her seem crazy."
Hey she will always be Angelina no matter what and that's why her fans love her. Maleficent opens Friday, All Hail Angelina Jolie
