While there have been some mixed reactions to the current season of Euphoria I am in the camp that loves it! Especially how the first four episodes were over the top with graphic violence and sex and then episodes five and six became less about shock and awe and more about reality setting in...brilliant!
Thus this group shot of the women of Euphoria is giving me life and it is this week's Hump Day & Chill.
I'm not gonna name all the cast members, if you know, you know. Yeah, I'm not in that giving of a mood this week and this one is for us fans of Euphoria and if you aren't one well then no Hump Day & Chill for you this week, sorry.
So here you go my fellow Euphoria peeps, you know who you are and now it's time to Hump Day & Chill!
New Facebook Live Variety Series, “Escape the Virus with a Lights Out-ing,” Airs Saturdays @ 4 p.m. EST
Call it fate, call it coincidence, call it happenstance, but every so often there occurs a magic moment − unplanned and unforeseen − when a song arrives just at the point it is needed most. Such is the case with “All That Matters,” by LIGHTS OUT, which is poised to become an anthem for these troubling and frightening times.
The first single/video and title track from the vocal quartet’s new album, All That Matters– just released April 17 − is a moving, uplifting and inspirational piece that imbues the listener with what is most needed as the world continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic: Optimism that a better day is on the horizon and the unshakeable belief that the human spirit is always stronger than the most fearsome foe.
In line with the group’s pandemic efforts, LIGHTS OUT has launched a weekly Facebook Live variety series, “Escape the Virus with a Lights Out-ing,” webcasting every Saturday at 4 p.m. EST. Weekly themes range from archival concert videos, to live Zoom performances, fan recipe cooking segments, story-swapping, topical discussions, and most importantly throughout, regular fan interaction. It’s all about maintaining the individual and group intimacy with their fans that the group holds in such high regard despite the tenuous climate the pandemic has created. Indeed, social distancing has inspired LIGHTS OUT to further find ways of staying close to its fans through social media.
Composed by membersChris JamesandDanny Goscicki,“All That Matters”is a work of classic blue-eyed soul marked by an indelible, instantly familiar melody and the breathtaking vocal harmonies that are the sonic signature ofLIGHTS OUT. Despite its of-the-moment urgency, it was written and recorded before the world had ever heard the phrase “COVID-19.”
According to Rob Fleishman, fellow group member Chad Moroz suggested the track be released as a single. “That,” Fleishman explains, “kind of sparked an idea in my head to create the video. So I created the video and it kind of took on a life of its own.
“At first, it was going to go down the road of friendship and how the group is together,” he continues. “But the ‘A-ha!’ moment came while I was watching the news. It kinda hit me that the lyrics are just so inspirational for this moment. It spoke to me as, ‘Why not thank the people who are on the front lines?’ Which is why at the end of the video, we thank everyone − doctors, nurses, cashiers, farmers, truck drivers, teachers, the military− for working as hard as they are to save our lives right now.”
The phrase "working hard" also applies to the Philadelphia-based unit that was formed by its members when they were students at the University of Delaware. Starting as an a capella group inspired primarily by Rockapellaand Boyz II Men, LIGHTS OUT has simultaneously traveled several musical paths, including being a popular attraction at many of the nation's top venues,2 performing their own blend of originals and covers, and as a highly successful FrankieValli and the Four Seasons tributeact as well as their original show, The Jersey Beach Boys.
Through the years, the troupe’s thrilling vocal harmonies, polished stageshowsand songwriting prowess have providedLIGHTS OUTwith the opportunities to work withMartina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Philadelphia’s chart-topping vocal groupBoyz II Men, andBarry Carl ofRockapella.BoyzII Men co-founderMike McCarywas so impressed by the foursome that he actually served as its manager. Although today, the group’s career is overseen by another Philly music legend,Jerry Grossof the revered 1960s vocal act,The Dovells, the relationship withMcCarycontinues to pay dividends.
“We were all, at one point, going to school for music at the University of Delaware,” offers Chris James. “Being a music major is amazing, because you learn so much, but you also can kind of get pigeonholed a little bit, even in your own mind. You can get kind of closed-in and not realize that even though the rules say you shouldn't do something, there are ways to do it that might sound good. Mike started opening our eyes to different harmonies and different voicings and different movements within the four of our voices that we would not have had otherwise. It's not just that we wouldn't have thought of them. But we probably would have said, ‘That note's not in the chord, that won’t work.’ But he opened our ears and our minds into a completely new way of harmony. And to this day we take that with us everywhere we go.”
The evidence the band members have taken such lessons to heart can be heard on the All That Matters album, which boasts, in addition to the title cut, 12 tracks steeped in the quartet’s shimmering, usually breathtaking harmonies. Aside from nine originals, the album boasts four covers: The Beach Boys’ “Surfin’ U.S.A.,” The 4 Seasons’ “December 1963 (Oh, What a Night),” Mr. Big’s “To Be With You,” and most notably, a sharp and energetic “hip-pop” reinvention of “Stand By Me” featuring a guest appearance by show business titan Ben Vereen.
Since we need all the levity we can get at present, yesterday Chrissy Teigen proudly announced it was the 10th Anniversary for her breast implants. "Yes" you read that correctly so she took to Instagram and Twitter with the announcement using the above photo and a caption that read: "happy 10 year anniversary to these titties and RIP to these teeth. 💕" Much to the delight of her fans and celebrity friends such as Lisa Rinna and Paris Hilton.
Might I suggest you follow Chrissy on Instagram or Twitter, perhaps both? She is a lot of fun, her sense of humor is awesome! Also she is a great cook as well. Now THAT'S a winning combo, if you ask me...

Or perhaps it should be Queens For A Day??? So here is a photo from Comic-Con in San Diego, CA that caught my eye - why? Because it shows Nicole Kidman adjacent to Amber Heard signing Aquaman stuff. Why did I find this eye catching? Because I had no idea until I spied this photo that Nicole Kidman was in Aquaman, that's why. "Yes" I realize the movie isn't called Queen Atlanna (Kidman's character in the opus) but usually you hear a bit more noise when Nic is going to appear in something on the big screen. Moving on she and her co-star Heard (who I was aware was in the movie) who plays Mera are all smiles and look like they are having a blast meeting and greeting fans of the below sea level hero. "Under the sea, Darling it's better, Down where it's wetter, Take it from me..." Aquaman on IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1477834/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Because the season of giving draws nigh I thought this charming photo of hunky Charlie Hunnam from Sons of Anarchy and his pooch posing in West Hollywood for fans was appropriate. Now you may be scratching something wondering why, or you may see the connection, but not sure of what point I am trying to put across. People love pets. The Holiday season tends to play on our best instincts and emotions. So how about this year when you give the gift that keeps on giving a companion for someone, adopt them from a shelter. Like Naughty Girls, Shelter Pets need love too! Something to contemplate in the countdown to Christmas, think about it, but not too much, giving something that makes two living things happy. That's the spirit! Charlie on Instagram: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBYXJiKSPPA
Just Because it's Labor Day Weekend and who wants to see a post about that? Just Because her boots are made for walking & just because she stars on Younger - I give you Hilary Duff sporting a bad ass pair of boots whilst walking in West Hollywood, CA. Luckily this photo was taken before Labor Day being as they are white. We wouldn't want to have to throw Ms. Duff in fashion prison, that would not be very nice. There is something I have always liked about Duff and obviously I am not alone in that. She has a successful career after all and for that to happen you have to have fans. I must confess however that I have yet to catch her current endeavor Younger. Word is it's good and I should, and will at some point...cross my heart. Now aren't you happy? “Gimme Heartbreak” is available on all digital providers and is the first new music from the multi-talented and multifaceted singer-songwriter since 2015’s Digital Vein album release, which debuted in the top 5 on Billboard’s Pop Chart. “Gimme Heartbreak” features David’s impressive strong vocals backed by synth beats "Gimme Heartbreak” feels like a new chapter to me. New direction, new energy. A new sound that I'm excited to share and build on,” says David.
With the newest Wolverine movie Logan opening this Friday a photo of Hugh Jackman at an event for the comic book opus in Taipei, Taiwan seemed like a fitting image for a Tuesday. It looks like Jackman and his alter ego Logan are quite a hit among the Taipei set. Hugh the ever gracious stopped and did selfies with his adoring fans. Personally I am not too into movies based on comic books. Once in a while there is one that manages to appeal to me, but for the most part... Hugh Jackman on the other hand is hugely appealing mainly because he is so down to earth, talented and good looking. That's a pretty lethal combo, trust me I have first hand experience with this type of guy and it is an irresistible force. So on that note I leave you with this Tuesday Trope - Hugh Jackman, Hugh Jackman, Hugh Jackman! Thank me later. Get yourself some Intsa-Hugh at: https://www.instagram.com/thehughjackman/?hl=en
50 years ago Dolly Parton released her first full-length album, Hello, I'm Dolly. The album, which debuted on Monument Records, contained Parton's hits "Dumb Blonde" (written by Curly Putman) and "Something Fishy" (written by Parton). Both singles reached the top twenty on the country singles charts, and the album itself reached #11 on the country albums chart. Produced by Fred Foster, Hello, I’m Dolly caught the attention of Porter Wagoner, who ultimately invited Parton to become a member of his band and appear on his popular weekly television show. These appearances led to Parton’s rise to superstardom and she became a bonafide household name.
“I can't believe it's been 50 years since I did my first album,” Parton recalls. “What a wonderful 50 years it has been. Thanks to my Uncle Bill Owens and Fred Foster for believing in me early on. And thanks to all the fans out there...I hope to have at least another 50 years!”
The album contained Parton's versions of three songs she wrote that had already been hits for other artists: "Put it Off Until Tomorrow" (Bill Phillips), "Fuel to the Flame" (Skeeter Davis), and "I'm In No Condition" which charted by Hank Williams Jr.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...ooooops! Wrong movie and it was only yesterday in Bejing, China when the Star Trek Beyond press conference happened. Much to a fans delight Zoe Saldana who plays Lieutenant Uhura was on deck to snap a selfie with him. Why am I running this pic? Because it made me smile, and we all need to smile more in a world of election coverage overkill. So buck up and grin, it's Monday, have a most excellent week! Zac Efron's gives good tongue down under at the Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates premiere in Sydney, Australia. The Zac Attack stopped and posed for a selfie with fans and playfully mugged with his tongue protruding from his mouth for the camera. I'm a real sucker for anything that is attached to Efron and that includes this part of his body as well of which I could definitely think of many things to use it for that I can't print here. Happy Hump Day! Need a tongue bath? Zac on the net: https://www.instagram.com/zacefron/?hl=en https://twitter.com/ZacEfron
Finally tells the story that was thought (and often hoped) would never be told...
495 pages, 7x10" paperback published by Cheap Drugs
Because life was made for "Butthole"
The Butthole Surfers remain one of the most enigmatic bands in the history of rock music. Most of their records have no information of any kind, and often with the suggestion that you play them at 69 rpm.... They lived like nomads through much of the 1980s, and built their reputation upon tours that never ended, and shows that resembled hedonistic acid tests. They left a heap of former band members in their wake, and have often alienated as many fans as they've attracted. Here for the first time is the complete story of one of the most controversial and dangerous bands to have emerged from the ashes of the punk rock movement.
Let's Go to Hell compiles the scattered memories into the first comprehensive overview of the band. Featuring exclusive interviews, tons of rare and unpublished photographs, and analysis of the band's vast recorded (and unrecorded) efforts, Let's Go to Hell finally tells the story that was thought (and often hoped) would never be told...
Author James Burns lives in Saugerties, NY with his wife and four children. He founded Cheap Drugs Records in 2000. Let's Go to Hell is the 9th release of the label, and first book to bear the Cheap Drugs name... James been running the Butthole Surfers Anal Obsession archive for more years than he wants to admit.
The Internet is all a buzz, and a Twitter about actor and Arrow star Colton Haynes. Did he come out on his Tumblr page, or didn't he??? Oh, the poetry of ambiguity! Colton has neither confirmed or denied this recent post. Here is what a fan said on Tumblr page this past weekend: “When I found out Colton Haynes had a secret gay past, I got so excited even though I know it makes absolutely no difference in my life." Cheekily Colton responded: "Was it a secret? Let’s all just enjoy life and have no regrets.” Of course his fans went wild on Twitter, did he or didn't he say he was indeed gay? Um, he was never in. That was the whole point of the comment people. While I get the speculation post public admission, Colton is saying he's gay, he was never in, let's move on. Since the fan response has been one of support, that sounds like a grand idea! When I woke up on this first day of 2016 that lyric from the U2 song immediately entered my mind. Why? Other than the obvious reason, the lyric is quite literal right now. My neighborhood is so peaceful and quiet you could hear a bird poop from a telephone wire. So when I saw this photo of one of my favorite couples Lady Gaga and her soon to be groom Taylor Kinney looking all lovey dovey I went, Awwwwwwww....This really compliments the zen and vibrations of what feels like an amazing year to come! The two turtle doves captioned the photo on Instagram with: "thank you to our fans and loved ones who bless us with so much each year. We had a beautiful holiday and are so grateful because it wouldn't have been the same without you in our lives! Happy New Year's Eve." Likewise you two. It's naked boy band time! 5 Seconds Of Summer gets naked for the latest cover of Rolling Stone.
Honestly I have no clue who these guys are, but a PR stunt like this always catches ones attention.
Captured by photographer Martin Schoeller the boys, Calum Hood, Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin, and Michael Clifford are butt naked. Hands over their nether regions, which from the looks of it we should all be thankful for.
But, that is not what will have their minions burning up social media. Even though they say they are first and foremost a band who makes music for their fans...
It's what they did on tour with their covered junk that will have them buzzing. Hood admits he "got a bit reckless" when he first started receiving attention from girls. Hemmings added, "When you put four young dudes on a tour bus, playing theaters, then arenas, you're going to have sex with a lot of girls, I guess. We had a good time."
There you have it! You know how the saying goes: Boys will be boys. Would you expect anything more?
Tonight is an all new The Good Wife, in my humbled opinion one of the best shows on TV. As most fans know Kalinda Sharma, played by the great Archie Panjabi, days are numbered.
Well Ms. Panjabi got her Tweet on with this message on Friday the 13th: "I took down the name sign from my dressing room today! Not long to go!" Panjabi's contract ends in May. She's already lined up a new gig to star in a yet-to-be-determined pilot for 20th Century Fox TV. Although I will miss Kalinda, I will watch Archie in anything. Unlike Josh Charles who played Will Gardner, this exit will not be shocking and not handled the same way I am sure. However I do suspect it will have something to do with Lemond Bishop. Also sorry to fellow The Good Wife Fans, Will's departure was a relief for me. May The Good Wife be with you, at: https://www.facebook.com/TheGoodWife
