Michael's Musings
Halo Michael Shinafelt |
2016 how do I put this to you delicately? Fuck off! I am ready for something new, and while there are reasons to tread with extreme caution moving forward into 2017 there are a few things I am grateful to be armed with going into it, that I reclaimed this past year.
Here on the 29th of December I am giving the ultimate kiss off to 2016, I'm so over you!
Debbie Reynolds passing away the day after her daughter Carrie Fisher died. So sad.
Ringing in the New Year early with Scott Jacobs last night via wine, cheese and German Chocolate Cake, was a welcome escape.
Even though 2016 was a pretty lame year, at least Donald Trump was not President.
Speaking of which, I am shocked that Orange Cosby didn't Tweet what a "Nasty Woman" Carrie Fisher was after her passing. She did call him out as a coke addict after all.
I'm grateful to have regained my sense of self this year, I'm going to need it in 2017.
Dear Rockettes, I advise you on not doing any high kicks during your performance at Trump's inauguration.
The people I meet out and about everyday keep my faith in humanity alive.
Hitting spin class today, as you might imagine it is much needed.
Billy Idol said it best: "With a rebel yell more, more, more!"
Middle Creek exploded because of the Beaver Dams, sounds like innuendo to me.
Just because I grab a pole on the subway and gyrate, that does not make me Nomi Malone.
2017 does not hold a lot of promise for anything in particular but trust me when I say there are going to be a lot of surprises. That my friends is as sure of a thing that you can count on. Let's hope they err more on the side of good than awful.
Get your last Thursday of 2016 on!

Stars, Stripes & Sandra Bernhard
Let Freedom Of Expression Ring! Sandra Bernhard |
What's that? You haven't seen it? Never fear it will be posted at the end of this commentary for your viewing pleasure.
In this moment on this Independence Day 2016 nothing says freedom of expression to me more, than the balls to the wall Ms. Bernhard. Not only is she a brilliant performer she is also a gifted actress, Martin Scorsese's The King Of Comedy is brilliant and so is she in it.
It's 2016 people be like Sandra and challenge yourself and the world around you. Push the envelope as the saying goes and most of all enjoy life on your own terms. Now that's independence!

PMS With Dolly Parton
It's Dolly Time! |
Dolly states:
“I think no matter if it’s Hillary or Donald Trump, we’re gonna be plagued with PMS either way — presidential mood swings!” she jokes. “But I personally think a woman would do a great job. I think Hillary’s very qualified. So if she gets it, I’ll certainly be behind her.”

She's Got The Look! Kesha @ The 2016 Billboard Music Awards |
Apparently some coward decided that Kesha had not been through enough tough times of late and decided she needed to be called out for being an "ugly whore." Here is her awesome response and the photo she posted with it on Instagram.

Tanya Tucker Extended
Live & Extended! Tanya Tucker Yes I am completely Rock- n -Roll, but sometimes I am a little bit country. I love myself some Tanya Tucker...Delta Dawn anyone??? |
Recently, the Academy of Country Music announced Tucker will be honored with the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award during the 10th Annual ACM Honors™, an evening dedicated to recognizing the special honorees on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. For the first time ever, ACM Honors will be produced for television by dick clark productions and broadcast at a later date on the CBS Television Network.
Currently, Tucker is preparing for the launch of a new album while crisscrossing the country with her instantly recognizable vocal flare and legendary repertoire that includes “Texas, When I Die,” “Some Kind of Trouble,” “Two Sparrows in a Hurricane,” “Love Me Like You Used To” and many more.
Of course, no Tucker performance would be complete without her breakthrough hit, “Delta Dawn.” The Alex Harvey-written classic, which launched thirteen year old Tucker into superstardom in 1972, anchors a performance that showcases her hits as well as stories and anecdotes from her 40 year career.

2016: A Cho New World
Margaret Cho, Sugar Kisses Photo: Mary Taylor |
MARGARET CHO NAMED SPECIAL CO-HOST OF “FASHION POLICE” FOR 2016 SEASON BEGINNING JANUARY 11
CHO SET TO HOST “NEW NOW NEXT HONORS” ON LOGO FEBRUARY 1
MARGARET PARTNERS WITH AMAZON FOR NEW DRAMEDY SERIES “HIGHLAND”
CATCH MARGARET ON “REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER” FEBRUARY 12
2016 is the year of keeping it real. So who better to do that with than Margaret Cho?
Three time Grammy and Emmy nominee, comedian Margaret Cho has been named special co-host of E!’s comedy favorite “Fashion Police.” “Fashion Police” will cover the biggest award shows of the 2016 season beginning Monday, January 11 with the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards special.
"I love joining the crew of Fashion Police. To me it feels like family. Although I am not quite a fashionista, I would love to look at it like I am changing it up - Fashion Police: Special Victims Unit. It makes me happiest to spend time with Melissa, and when I see her laugh at my jokes, I feel like Joan is smiling, somewhere." Margaret Cho
Margaret is also set to host the “New Now Next Honors” on the Logo Network February 1. From the slopes of Aspen Gay Ski Week, “New Now Next Honors” is a celebration of what’s hot and, more importantly, what’s going to be in the year to come.
Speaking of the year to come, Margaret has signed a development deal with Amazon for her marijuana-themed family dramedy titled “Highland.” The hour long project follows Cho, who after court-ordered rehab gets a chance to start over, but has to move in with her dysfunctional family who now run a pot dispensary. Co-produced by Tomorrow Studios and Amazon Studios, “Highland” was created by Margaret Cho and writer Liz Sarnoff (“Deadwood,” “Lost,” “Alcatraz.”). Cho is also attached to star and exec. produce, along with Becky Clements and Marty Adelstein of Tomorrow Studios.
In addition, you can catch Margaret on “Real Time with Bill Maher” Friday, February 12.
Margaret will also continue to tour with her ever evolving stand-up comedy show throughout 2016. She will continue to tackle difficult subjects with sensitivity and razor sharp insight. A pioneer amongst women in comedy, Margaret doesn’t take anything for granted. “It’s a wonderful thing to be known as a ‘safe haven’ for people who feel disenfranchised. The audience at my shows don’t necessarily consider themselves traditional comedy fans. I seem to be a secure alternative for people who don’t think they’re being represented in society. They come because my point of view satisfies a lot of what needs to be said out there, and that makes me really proud.”

Jennifer Lawrence "Growing Up In A Jesus House"
Actress & Friend Of Planned Parenthood Jennifer Lawrence |
She had this to say to Glamour:
"Planned Parenthood is so much more than an abortion provider," she continued. "My mom was really religious with me when I was young. She’s not so much anymore. And I wouldn’t have been able to get birth control if it weren’t for Planned P. I wouldn't have been able to get condoms and birth control and all these things I needed as a normal teenager who was growing up in a Jesus house."
Agreed. Planned Parenthood is so much more than a quick accidental pregnancy fix. It's about the health of women in general and is an essential part of our society.
2016 is a bold new year, let's approach it as such.

It's Only Day Three Of 2016 and...
Ahoy! l-r Harry Styles, Kendall Jenner, Portia De Rossi & Ellen Degeneres |
Well 2016 is looking to live up to it's hype as being a bold new year. How else can you explain this photo of Kendall Jenner, Harry Styles, Ellen Degeneres and Portia De Rossi all having lunch on the same yacht?
Yep, sometimes the world is full of strange bedfellows. The said yacht was traveling the waters in and around St. Barts for those who care.
Honestly I was so intrigued by the photo above I just had to post it. It seems like a sign of things to come in 2016, an omen of sorts, and a positive one at that.
Now that the tone has been set this year has a lot to live up to expectation wise and it had better bring it!
Have a great last day of the Holidays peeps!

It's Selfie Saturday!
Grrrrrrrl Power Selfie! Demi Lovato & Carrie Underwood |
This selfie is full of so much charisma, beauty and talent it's gonna turn your giddy up to euphoric proportions.
Why it's none other than Demi Lovato & Carrie Underwood! Via Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve With Ryan Seacrest. Say that three times fast!
I must say all I ever knew about Demi until recent, was she was a child star. Well she is now one of my favorite performers and singers. With songs I love and the powerhouse performances she has been giving on various shows, including Rockin' Eve proves her to be one of the best!
Carrie is a given she started out on top and has managed to stay there! Happy 2016 to two of my favorites!

All Is Quiet On New Years Day...
Love Birds Lady Gaga & Taylor Kinney |
When I woke up on this first day of 2016 that lyric from the U2 song immediately entered my mind. Why? Other than the obvious reason, the lyric is quite literal right now. My neighborhood is so peaceful and quiet you could hear a bird poop from a telephone wire.
So when I saw this photo of one of my favorite couples Lady Gaga and her soon to be groom Taylor Kinney looking all lovey dovey I went, Awwwwwwww....This really compliments the zen and vibrations of what feels like an amazing year to come!
The two turtle doves captioned the photo on Instagram with:
"thank you to our fans and loved ones who bless us with so much each year. We had a beautiful holiday and are so grateful because it wouldn't have been the same without you in our lives! Happy New Year's Eve."
Likewise you two.

Don't Let The Door Hit You On The Way Out 2015!
Don't Be Grumpy, 2015 Is Almost Over!!! |
While 2015 was far from the worst year I have ever had, there was plenty of room for improvement. It was mainly a year of transition where nothing really happened, but the changes, forced or not, on people's lives that were preparing them for an amazing 2016!!!
2015 also was a pretty boring year overall as well, and I will always remember it as the year ignorance raged on like a bonfire.
So to kiss this year off I have compiled a list of some positive headlines from it. Ya know to show 2015 a little gratitude for having successfully survived it.

-- Goldmine Magazine.
One of the many ways of getting down for NYE 2016!!!
KC and The Sunshine Band’s music has served as the ultimate soundtrack for parties around the world since they boogied onto the music scene over 40 years ago with electric mega-hits like “Shake, Shake, Shake (Shake Your Booty),” “That’s The Way I Like It,” and “Boogie Shoes,” lighting up dance floors. To amp up New Year’s Eve celebrations and ring in 2016, satellite radio network SiriusXM will broadcast the multi-platinum selling and GRAMMY-winning band’s full concert, LIVE from the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, California on its 70’s on 7 channel as part of an exclusive LIVE concert series. The show will begin at 1:30 a.m. on the East Coast on Friday, January 1.
The 90-minute concert broadcast of KC and The Sunshine Band will feature the band’s scheduled set list of classic hits as well as new music from their latest album, Feeling You! The 60s, which hit stores in Spring 2015. With 15 band members, choreography, multiple brass instruments, elaborate stage lighting and various special effects, a KC and The Sunshine Band show is not just a concert – it’s a production meant to get listeners up on their feet and moving to every funky groove. Having been one of the most progressive bands of the 70s, KC and The Sunshine Band celebrate over 100 million albums sold, nine GRAMMY nominations, three GRAMMY Awards, and has been credited with changing the sound of pop music.
Fronted by Miami-born Founder of the Dance Revolution, Harry Wayne “KC” Casey, the band’s music still remains popular today, appearing in over 200 movies, films and commercials and on party playlists around the world.

Pink After Christmas
It's OK To Go Pink After Christmas |
They say you aren't supposed to wear white after Labor Day. But the day after Christmas Pink is the perfect way to move on from 2015's holiday celebration.
Here is a really sweet photo of one of my favorite music artists Grammy winning singer Pink and her daughter Willow. It was tweeted early on Christmas Day with the caption -
"Happy holidays to you and yours. Wherever you go, go with all your heart" – Confucious, she wrote.
Perfect! Christmas is now officially over...2016 here we come!!!

Sandy Zacky "Witchy Woman"
I Put A Spell On You Sandy Zacky |
Everyone needs a resident chanteuse. Sandy Zacky is it, here on Entertain Me. Every Halloween we celebrate her rendition of the classic chestnut Witchcraft.
Passed through many singers throughout the years, most notably one of the masters, Frank Sinatra.
While she is not a master, Sandy is a maestra, the feminine version of master, of Witchcraft.
I have seen Sandy with a "Y" not "E" perform this song and many others, live over the years.
Guess what peeps she is getting ready to go live, and record again in 2016!
What a treat!

Whitney and the Holograms?
I'm Your Hologram Tonight Whitney Houston |
Get ready folks, Whitney's hologram will be touring. Personally I find this concept weird. I mean they will have to take footage from already recorded Houston performances and recordings to put this apparition together, correct?
Well don't all of you die hard WH fans own all of that paraphernalia already?
Yeah, I really don't get the lure of paying what is likely to be primo dinero to watch ghosts of the past culled from material of the real deal that is already out there, nothing spontaneous or interesting about that now is there?!
Or maybe there is, but this type of thing is not for this guy.
Food for thought, have the happiest of Sundays and remember...
