"Easy Listening"

Sandra Bernhard

New York - Performer, actress, compelling storyteller Sandra Bernhard is back on the road in 2024 with her "Easy Listening" live extravaganza.

Ride along with Sandy as she takes you on a tour of her musical influences. From the first time she heard the Supremes on AM radio on a snowy night in Flint, Michigan, to her first concert, Simon and Garfunkel… these are the songs you love and remember. The strumming guitars, the singalongs… from Peter Paul & Mary to the Stones – with Slaughter On Tenth Avenue playing on the Fisher HiFi (“Absolutely no one can touch this, do you hear me!” screamed her father) – as Ravel & Debussy drifted up from the basement where her mother just wanted to take a small break. The sounds of home that we all remember… jazz from your brother’s bedroom, your sister shouting along to Janis as she plotted her escape. The cross-country move to Arizona opened new musical vistas, as the ‘60s gave way to the ‘70s and the women of the era acted as our spiritual guides… Tina, Joni, Dusty, Aretha, Laura, Carole… Climb into the Pontiac station wagon and get ready to hit the road.

"The holiday vibes floating in the desert, Christmas carols hanging on a Saguaro. We’ll be bringing you old memories and new, just the way you like it:  groovy, cool and cozy." says Sandra

Be it on-screen (“American Horror Story,” “POSE” - HERE), radio (Sandyland on Sirius XM’s Radio Andy Channel 102) or on stages across the globe, Sandra Bernhard has been one of the most exhilarating performers for the past five decades.

A pioneer of the one-woman show, Sandra’s trailblazing style has won her a loyal following and critical praise as she continues to tackle difficult subjects head on with sincerity and her whip smart insight.

"Bernhard teaches the children – all those burgeoning spoken-word artists and monologists how to perform observational comedy with style, and right on the political edge."  - The New Yorker

T.G.I.T. = Thank God It's Tanya

Groundbreaking country music icon Tanya Tucker opened up for the first time on NBC’s TODAY Show about her musical tribute to Glen Campbell and performed “Forever Loving You” this morning (click here to watch). Tucker also graces the cover of Closer Weekly on newsstands now and will appear on Inside Edition, Fox News Edge, The Insider, Lifeminute, Celebrity Page, Sirius XM and MORE during her NYC media blitz.

While their relationship and breakup made headlines years ago, Tucker channeled her heartfelt feelings for Campbell in “Forever Loving You” and is donating proceeds to Alzheimer's research.

Tucker co-wrote “Forever Loving You” with Michael Lynn Rogers and Rusty Crowe, a Tennessee State Senator who co-sponsored the Campbell/Falk Act. The Tennessee law protects communication rights for people who've become wards of the state and those who have conservators over their financial and living situations.

Stars, Stripes & Sandra Bernhard

Let Freedom Of Expression Ring!
Sandra Bernhard
Happy 4th Of July people! Today is the day we celebrate our independence and freedom. With that in mind of course I thought of Sandra Bernhard wearing an American Flag with star pasties and a striped g-string gyrating to Prince's Little Red Corvette for the film finale of her brilliant one woman show Without You I'm Nothing...naturally.

What's that? You haven't seen it? Never fear it will be posted at the end of this commentary for your viewing pleasure.

In this moment on this Independence Day 2016 nothing says freedom of expression to me more, than the balls to the wall Ms. Bernhard. Not only is she a brilliant performer she is also a gifted actress, Martin Scorsese's The King Of Comedy is brilliant and so is she in it.

It's 2016 people be like Sandra and challenge yourself and the world around you. Push the envelope as the saying goes and most of all enjoy life on your own terms. Now that's independence!

Keep It Real - Diving Normal

Devolver Digital Films to Release
Diving Normal
A Touching Comedy-Drama Feature Film
Exploring Loyalty Among Friends & Lovers
Directed By Kristjan Thor
Los Angeles Theatrical Run at Arena Cinema
January 10 – 16, 2015

Everyone Seems Normal Until You Fall in Love...

Keep it real -

Diving Normal questions what it means to be normal, and ultimately lends the argument that maybe there is no such thing. We’ve all felt lost, unloved, isolated, and unable to connect; this is a story about embracing those differences, regardless of how exposed or broken they make us feel, in order to finally see that we belong.”
– Jessica Tomberlin, Go See Talk

Devolver Digital Films is proud to announce the release of the touching comedy-drama, Diving Normal. Directed by Kristjan Thor, the character-driven narrative feature film tells the story of a love triangle that occurs when two unlikely friends fall for the same beautiful, but broken, woman. In the film, an adaptation of the critically acclaimed play of the same name, the three main characters combat abandonment, addiction, and struggles with conforming to traditional relationships. The Los Angeles theatrical run will kick off with a premiere event on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Arena Cinema in Hollywood, CA. Filmmakers and cast will be present for a reception before the 6:00pm screening and will host a Q&A immediately following. The film is currently in limited theatrical release in cities across the country, check http://divingnormal.com/screenings for updates.

Diving Normal centers around the lives of Fulton and Gordon, played by Philipp Karner and Scotty Crowe, respectively, who also both performed in the original stage production as well as produced and co-wrote the adapted screenplay with playwright Ashlin Halfnight. The film’s cable VOD (Video on Demand) release is set for January 13, 2015 (check local listings). The digital VOD release is scheduled for January 27, 2015 via iTunes, Amazon Instant Video HD, PlayStation, Xbox, VUDU, Vimeo on Demand, VHX, Gumroad, Google Play, YouTube Rentals, and others. For additional information, please visit http://divingnormal.com.

Upcoming Screenings –
• Sat. January 10 - Fri. January 16, 2015 – Los Angeles, CA – Arena Cinemas
Diving Normal (Comedy/Drama, 2014, 92 min.) –

Diving Normal tells the story of an unlikely love triangle when best friends, an ambitious Brooklynite graphic novelist Fulton (Philipp Karner) and his socially awkward neighbor Gordon (Scotty Crowe), both vie for the attention of Dana (Susie Abromeit), a beautiful but damaged woman. Fulton and Dana begin dating, but the increasingly complicated situation is compounded by their pasts, which are littered with abandonment, accident, and sexual deviation. After discovering that Fulton has gone to visit his ex-girlfriend, the story takes a dark turn as Dana relapses and debases herself under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Gordon becomes Dana's caretaker and, as they grow closer, the trio's relationships are tested. Based on a play by Fulbright Award Winner Ashlin Halfnight, Diving Normal explores loyalty among friends and lovers, as well as the heart breaking personal struggle of becoming an adult.

The film screened at the Dallas International Film Festival 2013Manhattan Film Festival 2013, and Beverly Hills Film Festival 2014, where the film took home the Audience Award - Best Feature as well as the Best Actress Award (Susie Abromeit). The film also features the iconic Sandra Bernhard.

Margaret Cho Is On The Loose

Margaret Cho is on the loose! Where shall we begin? Season five of "Drop Dead Diva" on Lifetime seems like a good starting point, follow that up with new tour dates for her acclaimed comedy show "Mother".

Not to mention her three women fresh out of jail YouTube series "In Transition" and she's baaaaaack co-hosting "The View" Thursday July 25th and Friday July 26th, hoping to take over one of the vacant seats.

There are so many other things I could say, instead of reading my shopping list let's let Margaret tell us herself.

MS: "Drop Dead Diva" is back! Did you think that would happen since Lifetime initially cancelled it?

MC: You never really know with TV. You never know how things are going to go, that's the nature of it. What's really great is the fans really love "Drop Dead Diva" and they wanted to see more.

MS: It's a cute show, I've seen it a couple of times. It puts a smile on your face when you're in a bad mood.

MC: I like that.

MS: Sandra Bernhard is a guest this season.

MC: She's amazing, I'm such a fan of hers. We talked about what a sexist Jerry Lewis is when it comes to women in comedy, it's disturbing. I was talking to her about how amazing she was in "The King of Comedy".

MS: Oh she's so good in that!

MC: Sooooo good! It's legendary, a great movie! I think it's Martin Scorsese at his best. With Sandra as a mad stalker...she is so hilarious and so sexy.

MS: She scared the Hell out of me in that!

MC: I love her when she's scary, that's when she's at her best. She's just fabulous in every way, as a comedian, actress and a musician. She is someone I admire tremendously so it was great to have her as part of our show.

                                               Margaret's YouTube Series "In Transition"

MS: By the way "Mistress Lina" I was on season 2 of "Where The Bears Are" and so were you!

MC: Oh that's great! I haven't seen it yet, what part did you play?

MS: I got some good face time in the Faultline Bar scene.

MC: Oh My God I have to watch it. I'm saving it up to watch it all at once, I hate to watch one episode and not be able to see the next one, I have to see it all at once.

MS: Well I was caught of guard by your role as "Mistress Lina" when you pulled the demure Asian Woman thing and when the Bears fell for it you called them racist. (laughs)

MC: I know, it was fun!

MS: Like, where did that come from?! Sorry I sound like Janis Joplin today, I got the rasps this morning.

MC: That's OK.

MS: So I saw you on "The View" was that fun?

MC: That is the job I want most of all. I am in the running to be a host.

MS: Oh wow, that's awesome!

MC: It's a great thing, it would be so cool, I would love it!

MS: Personally I wished Elisabeth Hasselbeck had been on the day you were I would have liked to see an exchange between the two of you. I don't think she's stupid, I think she doesn't articulate her opinions in a clear manner.

MC: She's great, they're all great for their own different points of view, ideas and jokes. It's a real rock-n-roll sort of thing, they all play their different instruments and I'd really love be a part of that band.

MS: How was doing "In Bed With Joan"?

MC: It was a blast! I love Joan Rivers, and I love going over to her house. It's so exciting, and she is so hysterical. I've know her for a long time, and I respect her and love her so dearly.

MS: Like I told a friend recently when you are 80 you want to be Joan Rivers, she has the stamina of a 20 year old and still has her wits about her.

MC: Totally! She is so cool and has such a strong work ethic. An unbelievable presence, such a cool lady.

MS: Since I know touring is your favorite thing, hit me with when you are doing it some more.

MC: At the end of August I will be playing some gigs in Georgia, Athens & Atlanta - I will also be touring all over Europe.
