Dreamland II

For The Winn
Billy Winn
Billy Winn Awakens Dreamland II, The Final EP of His Two-Part Series

Billy Winn’s Dreamland II releases everywhere on August 9 and it picks up where the first album left off.  Thematically, at least.  Both EPs tell stories from the perspective of a queer kid of color who has had his heart broken.  “It’s the only position that I can write from and it’s one that I can’t recall ever hearing in pop music,” Winn explains.  “My hope is that regardless of where you come from, who you are now, or who you are becoming; you’re able to find something in these songs that resonates and makes you want to play them over and over again.”

Billy Winn was listening to a lot of TLC and Janet Jackson while he was working on Dreamland II.  “Specifically, Crazy, Sexy, CoolFanmail, and Janet’s Velvet Rope album.  At the same time, I was listening to artists like Flume, Owl City, Robyn, and Tove Lo; trying to find a place musically where they could all co-exist or become something completely different altogether.”

He was also inspired by a series of circumstances in his life, including the death of his father.  “He and I weren’t close but at the end of his life, I was asked to return home to take care of him and my family.  It was an extremely emotional situation, and definitely something that I’m still healing from.”

It is one of the reasons Dreamland II is angrier than the first album.  While Dreamland I explored life as a perception of fantasy and guilty pleasures, Dreamland II reveals more pain beneath the surface.  There is an overriding theme throughout that it’s all fun and games until someone catches feelings.

Billy Winn is a Billboard-charting singer, songwriter, recording artist, and performer whose music ranges from high energy dance records to emotionally charged EDM.  Some of his most popular singles include “Seal It with a Kiss”, “Crash,” and “Future X Boyfriend.”

Dreamland I was a major turning point for the young artist and its success allowed Winn to tour and expand his fan base.  It has also taught him to not doubt or second guess himself.    “I’m trusting my instincts a lot more these days and I have to admit I’m pretty confident in the road ahead.”
Billy Winn released “Another Broken Heart,” the debut single from Dreamland II, in June.  The next release from the album, “Tell Him,” is scheduled to release in early fall.

Billy Winn’s Dreamland II is being distributed by Ferocious Music and OneRPM and is available on iTunes, Spotify and all digital platforms.  For more information, visit BillyWinn.com or follow him on Facebook.

Weird Science

"Weird Science, Plastic tubes and pots and pans
Bits and pieces and
Magic from the hand"
- Weird Science, Oingo Boingo

THEY WENT FROM ZEROES TO HEROES IN ONE FANTASTIC WEEKEND. If you can't get a date... make one! After proving himself the king of heartfelt teen flicks with Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club, writer-director John Hughes infused the genre with a hefty dose of wacked-out sci-fi comedy in Weird Science, a film where every teenage boy's wildest fantasies come to life. Perenially picked-on high school nerds Gary (Anthony Michael Hall, Sixteen Candles) and Wyatt (Ilan Mitchell-Smith) are sick of their status at the bottom of the social food chain. Using Wyatt's computer, the two hatch a plan to create their dream woman - and following a massive power surge, that woman unexpectedly appears in the form of Lisa (Kelly LeBrock). Gorgeous, intelligent, and blessed with limitless magic powers, Lisa makes the boys' dreams come true... but what about Wyatt's gun-toting psycho older brother Chet (Bill Paxton), and the two bullies (Robert Downey Jr and Vamp's Robert Rusler) determined to put them back in their place? Inspired by EC Comics and boosted by a killer soundtrack (including the classic title theme by Oingo Boingo), Weird Science has never looked better than in this new special edition, including an exclusive extended version of the film featuring deleted scenes never released on home video before.

Monday Motivation

Don't Be Tardy For The Party
Alice in Wonderland
Another week, another Monday...."Yes" it's time for some Monday Motivation Minions (say THAT three times fast)

This is one of those Mondays that I am not sure what could Motivate me. I'm kind of feeling somewhat like I fell down a rabbit hole. Thus today's MM is fantasy, we all need an escape from time to time and what better way to life our spirits and make us smile than some good old fashioned escapism of the mind.

What came to my mind today is already obvious, or it should be given the image accompanying this post. Alice in Wonderland is the rabbit hole I fell down when I woke-up this ayem feeling like Grumpy Cat, because I am in pain am having surgery for it today.

Thus while I am getting my toe broken and reset I will be hanging with Alice and the denizens of Wonderland in the corners of my mind.

So, what tickles your fantasy fancy today? Inquiring minds want to know...

Monday Motivation

Ride Me!
Gerard Butler
"Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle, I want to ride my bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike, I want to ride my bicycleI want to ride it where I like" - Queen, Bicycle Race

Monday Motivation can take on many forms such as a song by Queen or humpy stud Gerard Butler. "Yes" both involve bicycles thus I hereby decree this Monday January 21st the Motivation is get on your bike and ride damn it!

This is exactly what I am going to do. I haven't taken mine out for a ride in quite a long time. How much time is a long time? So long that I need to get the tires filled with air, that's how long.

Now if only I could Gerard Butler to ride me, I mean with me. While Bicycle Race by Queen booms in the background. That's my fantasy, what's yours?

Get out and get rode...hard! Happy Monday Minions!!!

Film Buff Friday: Prehysteria!

OK, Full Moon fans, you know who you are...Woot! Here it is!!!

Full Moon's classic family film PREHYSTERIA
comes to Blu-ray for the first time ever this Fall
This remastered, high-definition transfer taken from the original 35mm camera negative arrives in a special Blu-ray + DVD combo package on October 9th

Legendary horror and dark fantasy film studio Full Moon Features (founded by producer / director Charles Band in 1989) is world-renowned for wild films like PUPPET MASTER, CASTLE FREAK, SUBSPECIES, EVIL BONG and many, many more. But nestled among Full Moon's vast entertainment universe sits Moonbeam Entertainment, the beloved '90s imprint that housed Band's series of imaginative (and successful) fantasy films.

Beginning in 1993 and continuing well into the late '90s, Moonbeam Entertainment released dozens of remarkable (and hugely popular) horror, sci-fi and fantasy movies made for children and families. Now, Full Moon is thrilled to be bringing back many of those marvelous pictures from the Moonbeam library, starting with the film that started it all: PREHYSTERIA!

Anticipating the success of JURASSIC PARK, this 1993 VHS-era favorite follows the misadventures of Jerry Taylor (Austin O'Brien, THE LAST ACTION HERO), a 12 year old Elvis-loving kid and his sister Monica (Samantha Mills), whose raisin farmer dad Frank (Brett Cullen, GHOST RIDER) accidentally brings home a bundle of rare eggs unearthed in the rainforest by Rico Sarno (Stephen Lee, DOLLS), an sinister museum curator. Suddenly, the eggs hatch, unleashing a pack of diminutive dinosaurs that the kids name after their favorite rock and pop music stars - Elvis, Jagger, Madonna, Paula, and Hammer. But when Sarno finds out about the dinos, he'll stop at nothing to get his hands on them and its up to Jerry and Monica to protect their new "family".

This wild and hilarious comedy / fantasy classic features top-notch stop-motion special effects by the great David Allen (PUPPET MASTER, LASERBLAST) and is ready to be embraced by a new generation of children and kids of all ages looking for charming, eccentric retro-genre entertainment. Full Moon is pleased to present PREHYSTERIA in a remastered, high-definition transfer taken from the original 35mm camera negative.

Whitney and the Holograms?

I'm Your Hologram Tonight
Whitney Houston
Yep, it's true! Whitney Houston will be giving Jem and the Holograms a run for their money in 2016.

Get ready folks, Whitney's hologram will be touring. Personally I find this concept weird. I mean they will have to take footage from already recorded Houston performances and recordings to put this apparition together, correct?

Well don't all of you die hard WH fans own all of that paraphernalia already?

Yeah, I really don't get the lure of paying what is likely to be primo dinero to watch ghosts of the past culled from material of the real deal that is already out there, nothing spontaneous or interesting about that now is there?!

Or maybe there is, but this type of thing is not for this guy.

Food for thought, have the happiest of Sundays and remember...

"You've given me ecstasy, you are my fantasy
I'm your baby tonight"...

Bend It Like Paquin

Sookie Stackhouse Is No More
This item is more muse than news, hey it's Friday time for some fun! That being stated I felt inspired creatively when I came across this image of one of my favorite actresses, Anna Paquin with purple hair.

Immediately I started thinking of all things cool and purple: The Prince Movie Purple Rain, Flying Purple People Eaters, Ursula The Sea Witch, Tinky Winky and last but not least, Barney...

And now Anna Paquin is on that list. It also made me wish when I had hair and was bleaching it platinum blonde that I had tried purple hair too while I was at it.

What an awesome send off to the final season of True Blood and her character Sookie Stackhouse!

Anna took to her Twitter about her color with this statement:

"@Auracolorist just fulfilled my teen dream of being a mermaid. @_smoyer whatcha think?"

Awesome Anna glad you get to live out your mermaid fantasy, word of caution watch out for Ursula!

"Make Believe" With Tom Goss

  • Singer/Songwriter, Tom Goss is here with his latest song "Make Believe". Tom is a well known musician who is about to get a lot more notoriety with the release of the video for "Make Believe".

Check it out, I think you can guess why....

MS: The video for your latest song "Make Believe" is so original what inspired you to turn your naked body into a fantasy world?
TG: You know, I have no idea. The day I got back from my Spring tour I was exhausted. I had been on the road for 13 weeks straight and I was looking forward to not working like a maniac, just spending time at home with my husband. I laid down in my own bed for the first time in months and all the sudden this idea of manipulating time and imagery on my body with paint popped up. Well, now I couldn't sleep, all I could do was think about how cool it would be to pull off. A couple weeks later I got a hold of Scott Brooks to see if he would be into working together. I've been an admirer of his work for years and I was pretty nervous and intimidated to be honest, his work is so amazing. Luckily he was into the idea and we started talking logistics. The more we talked, the more complicated (and fun) it became. Eventually it became what you see today.

MS: How does this relate to the actual song for you personally?

TG: It relates a lot actually. I wrote this song thinking about how I would approach love if I wasn't me. If I was someone with no inhibitions, no insecurities. Someone who could see what they wanted and go after it. Triangle (the pursuer in the video) is pretty much like that. As soon as triangle sees circle (the pursued) appear on the island, he (or she or it) knows there is love in the air and goes after it.
MS: Who came up with the visual concepts of the body paint and the creatures etc..?
TG: Scott Brooks and I did together. My initial idea was in black and white and had the animation painted on me. However, it became quickly obvious that that was impossible. We brainstormed a lot of ideas, that we thought might actually be possible, and then tested them out. Usually the ideas didn't work, hahahaha. There were a lot of tricky logistics to consider. Eventually we found a story & paint scheme that worked as well and characters we could introduce that would appear to be animated. We simplified our techniques a lot, let time work for us. There are no special effects or edits in the video, so you see every second that took place during the 80 minute shoot (watch the clock). It's pretty amazing actually. I still can't believe it works.

MS: Your fans are loving the view I bet! What kind of feedback have you gotten from them?
TG: Feedback has been through the roof. The amount of likes in relation to the amount of views is fairly astounding. Of course there's plenty of clock jokes too, hahahaha. More than anything, I'm glad that folks are having fun with it. That's kind of the point.
MS: My prediction "Make Believe" is going to get you a lot of attention....
