Hey Minions, Tender Misfit has just dropped her highly anticipated EP "Do You Hate Me?" and it doesn't disappoint.
My two personal favorite tracks on it are "Dirt" and "Stupid Girl" her lyrics on all the songs are amazing!
Tender Misfit is here to give you some insight on her latest musical baby -
"Do You Hate Me?" Is a collection of music that tells the story of a girl finding herself in spite of heartache trying to tear her down. This EP did truly help me find myself, not just as a person but as an artist. I know who I am now and I am so excited about the future of my project as Tender Misfit. Sonically I was influenced by artists like Lana del Rey, Marina and the Diamonds, and Olivia Rodrigo, who have paved the way for weird girls like me to own the stage."
LA-raised singer-songwriterSophia Mariehas released the first single off her upcoming sophomore EP.
Sophia says, “Femme Fatale is an 80s-inspired ballad that depicts a narrator engaging in reckless, degenerate, and overtly flirtatious behavior because the one man that would make her calm, steady, and stable doesn’t love her back.
It’s a song that attempts to hide its insecurity but then blazes it out in the open, describing the narrator’s process of morphing into something she despises just to stoke envy in her lover’s heart. I was inspired by my own experiences, exaggerating my changes in personality when I became jaded or disillusioned with love, but I also drew heavily upon iconic historical and literary femme fatale figures like Cleopatra, Helen of Troy, and Moulin Rouge’s Satine to give it a sexy ambiance that causes dissonance with its depressing words.”

Sophia Marie's music is autobiographical. Each of her songs tells the story of a young life in progress. From leaving the sunny, casual west coast for a more buttoned-up DC life at Georgetown University (where she studies International Politics) to a life-changing semester abroad in Dublin, to unrequited romances and lovesick travels, each of these experiences is vividly documented in her music.
++++
Singer and songwriter Sophia Marie George is a Los Angeles native and senior in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Harboring various passions, she finds herself oscillating (sometimes rather chaotically) between many different realms: her major in International Politics, her authorship of creative works, and her love for acting in addition to her music.
Sophia often feels like an ambitious, lust-for-life, nomadic kind of girl without a particular direction, one who doesn’t know exactly what she wants to do or who she wants to be, or where she wants to end up, and her storytelling reflects that indecisiveness, that impulsiveness, that desire to do everything while she’s young. Drawing from her identity as a self-proclaimed “hopeless romantic,” Sophia has a penchant for romanticizing historical figures and events, contemporary lovers, and foreign cities, weaving in the story of her West Coast roots in sunny Los Angeles, her university life in the political and cosmopolitan mecca that is Washington D.C., and her role as an expatriate in foreign cities.
A shamelessly emotional person, Sophia’s vulnerability stands out, with witty lyrics and asides giving comedic, realist commentary on the different places and situations she finds herself in. She is a girl still very much figuring it all out, the kind of crazy soul who seeks out every opportunity and every emotion life can offer. A wildness that sometimes contradicts her inexperienced and naive demeanor, a romanticism that contradicts her occasional feelings of disillusionment, and a performative personality that often contradicts her desire for authenticity.
Tis the season and all, thus here is a Christmas message from Vassy....😎

John Tejada & Ulrich Krieger Team Up on New EP Release
Silversonic
With Remixes by Josh Wink
Out on Palette Recordings
July 16, 2021
Palette Recordings, now in its 25th year, presents a new collaboration between electronic music artist/DJ/producer John Tejada and composer/saxophonist Ulrich Krieger. The duo’s first release, Silversonic, is a four-track EP with three dancefloor-friendly tracks—including two remixes by Josh Wink—and one beatless track, all showcasing Krieger’s woodwind prowess. The original version, a techno track that charts a journey from epic, melodic swells to pummeling hi-hats, is a blend of Tejada’s master electronic production and Krieger’s unique performance on his tenor and baritone saxophones, and contrabass clarinet. It features Krieger’s signature blend of microphonics, a specialized playing style involving microphones and feedback that he is known for. Check out an excerpt here. Find the pre-save links here.

Garden Broom Recordings Set to Release
Resurfaced EP
Debut by New Electronic Artist
Alighted
Chronicling Recent Cancer Experience
~
Lead Single “Resurfaced” out April 2
EP out April 16, 2021
Garden Broom Recordings announces its next release, the Resurfaced EP, by founder, producer, and creative technologist, McLean Macionis, under his new moniker, Alighted, out April 16, 2021. The 4-track EP follows the label’s inaugural release by experimental duo NMND, of which Macionis is a member. Alighted’s debut is a collection of tracks forged from warm analog sounds, raw field recordings, and diffuse granular textures. Drawing inspiration from a personal health crisis, the EP is a unified odyssey complete with moments of hardship and bliss as expressed through the technology that is essential to the artist’s creative practice. The title track and lead single, “Resurfaced,” will arrive on April 2, 2021. To learn more about Alighted, please visit https://linktr.ee/alighted.
The EP chronicles the artist as he comes to grips with his new identity both personally and artistically following a cancer diagnosis. “Imagine a distressed bird flying through an endless sky searching for a place to land. That was my experience following the initial diagnosis, subsequent surgery, and treatment. I was desperate to settle my mind so that I could begin to process the tremendous physical and mental shock.” The image of the bird in search of a place to rest resonated deeply with Macionis so much so that he adopted the moniker Alighted, a verb that describes how a bird descends and eventually settles.

With his newfound identity, Macionis went to work channeling his internal experience through music. “Every track begins at the piano. I usually create a rough sketch, a recording of the melody or harmony, and then focus on realizing the idea using other instruments.” During the production process, Macionis elected to search outside of the computer for the right sounds and instruments to execute his visions. This search prompted him to use drum machines, analog synthesizers, and field recordings as the backbone of the EP’s sound palette.
Releases Debut EP Familiar Faces Collected Observations of an Ex-twenty-something Artist On Elegant Regrets Music
1st Single, “Running,” out October 2 2nd Single, “Sugar Maple,” out October 23 Full Familiar Faces EP out on November 13, 2020
Drew Aron, one-time classical guitarist turned folky singer-songwriter, will release his debut EP, Familiar Faces, on Elegant Regrets Music on November 13, 2020. In advance of the EP, Aron will put out two singles along with videos for each. “Running,” the first single, came out on October 2, and “Sugar Maple,” out on October 23. Familiar Faces will also have a video release. For more information please visit https://www.drewaron.com.
Aron’s songs, while simple on the surface, reveal many layers upon closer listening and understanding of the artist’s journey through making and releasing this EP. The moving seven-song Familiar Faces has been building over the last five years, when Aron began writing songs again after a long period of focusing on a career as a classical guitarist. Inspired by fellow musicians who were working on telling their own stories and making their own albums, Aron abandoned the classical music path and started to work on telling his own musical story.
While not necessarily a “concept” EP, Familiar Faces is the collected observations of an artist, also in recovery, trying to find his way amid the ups and downs (and laughter mixed with tears) as a creative soul in the City of Angels. The songs began as scribbles that Aron never thought he’d release for public consumption, penned between health food store and food delivery shifts. Aron’s friend K.C. Maloney (aka Adult Karate) encouraged him to develop his songs more seriously into a solo project, and this nudge inspired Aron to continue writing and honing his day-to-day observations and experiences into wry, folky musical nuggets of truth. A lover of ‘60s and ‘70s folksters like Chris Hillman, Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, and Gene Clark, he hoped his sound would be more tongue-in-cheek, but as you’ll hear, Aron’s music is often heartachingly earnest, something he himself has found surprising. He says of his songs, “It goes in one way and comes out another. That’s what I find I love the most about the process.”
"Sugar Maple"
The recording of Familiar Faces was an organic process that took about two years. Aron recorded much of the EP in his bedroom, and used a neighbor’s house as well when roommates were too noisy. This is a true slice of modern life, right down to the recording process, and over time some of the songs were reworked from wherever they started to the mature songwriting voice you hear on the finished EP. “Each song was recorded at a different stage of development,” Aron says, “so I feel that, aside from the lyrical content, each song also tells the story of where I was with my singing voice, how ‘country’ or ‘folk’ I wanted to be. There’s a wonderful conflict in the EP because, at first, I didn’t intend the recordings to all be put out together.”
Once Familiar Faces had taken shape, Aron worked with his friend Dash Hutton to add some drum tracks, and Adaline (frequent Adult Karate collaborator) to bring in some vocal harmonies. Limited time and resources dictated Familiar Faces’ uncomplicated arrangements, allowing Aron’s folky voice and heartfelt lyrics to shine through. After years playing classical music, the artist finds himself at home in the refreshing simplicity of his new identity as a singer-songwriter. Aron sums Familiar Faces up best: “I don’t see this EP as a singular statement, or some sort of way to establish a new artist identity for myself. It is, quite literally, a record of me finding my own voice through music.”
Palette 71, Moving 909s, kicks off with legendary Warp artist Plaid on remix duties. Transforming the title track, re-synthesized 909 samples and Lua scripted sequencing, Plaid builds melodies and arrangement to epic proportions in classic Plaid fashion.
John Tejada’s new EP is an homage of sorts to the sample heavy production style of the late '90s. "Limiting the options and just creating and manipulating a batch of samples is my happy place,” says Tejada.
The title track hints back to a personal favorite, Optical’s 1997 gem, "Moving 808s." While the sound is quite different, the approach is similar: samples, editing, some filters and not a whole lot more opens up a lot of creative possibilities without too much getting in the way. Of course, the bass plays an important role. Combing through some older influences of varying styles, the production became more in line with Tejada classics like “Timebomb” and “Western Starland,” both sample collage pieces focused on groove.
The final track, "Infinity Room" also follows this production process while resulting in a slightly moodier sound
GRAMMY NOMINATED SINGER-SONGWRITER LEIGH NASH RELEASES NEW EP
Platinum selling artist Leigh Nash releases GET HAPPY, a brand new six-song EP featuring two never-released tracks, “Something Worth Leaving Behind” and “Get Happy,” as well as a newly re-recorded and remastered version of the Sixpence None the Richer track, “Kiss Me,” the song that brought Leigh to the forefront of female singers in the late 90s.
While Leigh calls the experience of re-recording “Kiss Me,” the song that made her and her band globally famous, a “delightful friend to revisit,” this new release has made her fall in love with writing music all over again. “I am hopefully wiser, and my heart is more open, than five years ago. GET HAPPY is more representative of where I am right now. I am so thankful I still have the chance to record music…I am feeling pretty joyful about it!”
In support of GET HAPPY, available here: https://www.leighnash.net/get-happy-player, Leigh will be playing select shows in March, with summer touring plans to be announced soon.
James Durbin has left the building. "Yes" the rumor is true,he's vacated the role of Quiet Riot frontman. Durbin joined the veteran heavy hard rock band in March 2017. Formed in 1973, Quiet Riot had its biggest hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1983 with “Cum on Feel the Noize,” a cover of Slade’s 1973 U.K. hit. The Quiet Riot version peaked at No. 5 on the Hot 100. As you recall Durbin also made a not so Quiet Riot of his own when he was placed fourth on Season 10 of American Idol. Evolving is a part of life, when the time comes to do other things, you know it and had better pay attention to your inner voice. James told Entertain Me about his not being with the band - "I'm proud of and grateful for my time in Quiet Riot, but I'm really looking forward to releasing a new EP in early 2020, and working on various new projects. Including Voice Over acting for Disney/Star Wars: "Choose Your Destiny" My hometown rock cover band The Lost Boys and California country band Homeland Revival. As well as any new opportunities that come my way." Best wishes buddy and "May the force be with you" always. Durbin on IG - https://www.instagram.com/jamesdurbinofficial/?hl=en
Billy Winn Awakens Dreamland II, The Final EP of His Two-Part Series
Billy Winn’s Dreamland II releases everywhere on August 9 and it picks up where the first album left off.Thematically, at least. Both EPs tell stories from the perspective of a queer kid of color who has had his heart broken.“It’s the only position that I can write from and it’s one that I can’t recall ever hearing in pop music,” Winn explains. “My hope is that regardless of where you come from, who you are now, or who you are becoming; you’re able to find something in these songs that resonates and makes you want to play them over and over again.”
Billy Winn was listening to a lot of TLC and Janet Jackson while he was working on Dreamland II. “Specifically, Crazy, Sexy, Cool, Fanmail, and Janet’s Velvet Rope album. At the same time, I was listening to artists like Flume, Owl City, Robyn, and Tove Lo; trying to find a place musically where they could all co-exist or become something completely different altogether.”
He was also inspired by a series of circumstances in his life, including the death of his father. “He and I weren’t close but at the end of his life, I was asked to return home to take care of him and my family. It was an extremely emotional situation, and definitely something that I’m still healing from.”
It is one of the reasonsDreamland II is angrier than the first album. While Dreamland I explored life as a perception of fantasy and guilty pleasures, Dreamland II reveals more pain beneath the surface. There is an overriding theme throughout that it’s all fun and games until someone catches feelings.
Billy Winn is a Billboard-charting singer, songwriter, recording artist, and performer whose music ranges from high energy dance records to emotionally charged EDM. Some of his most popular singles include “Seal It with a Kiss”, “Crash,” and “Future X Boyfriend.”
Dreamland I was a major turning point for the young artist and its success allowed Winn to tour and expand his fan base. It has also taught him to not doubt or second guess himself. “I’m trusting my instincts a lot more these days and I have to admit I’m pretty confident in the road ahead.”
Billy Winn released “Another Broken Heart,” the debut single from Dreamland II, in June. The next release from the album, “Tell Him,” is scheduled to release in early fall.
Billy Winn’s Dreamland II is being distributed by Ferocious Music and OneRPM and is available on iTunes, Spotify and all digital platforms. For more information, visit BillyWinn.com or follow him on Facebook.
Billy Winn Returns in Dreamland II, The Final EP of His Two-Part Series
Featuring Debut Single, “Another Broken Heart”
Billy Winn’s Dreamland II picks up where Dreamland I left off. Thematically, at least. Sonically, its debut single, “Another Broken Heart,” releasing May 24, turns up the drama with a heavy-octane dance number. “I love going back to EDM, where it all started for me,” Winn explains. “High energy dance is always a great place to get things started.”
Both EPs tell stories from the perspective of a queer kid of color who has had his heart broken. “It’s the only position that I can write from and it’s one that I can’t recall ever hearing in pop music,” Winn continues. “My hope is that regardless of where you come from, who you are now, or who you are becoming; you’re able to find something in these songs that resonates and makes you want to play them over and over again.”
“Another Broken Heart” was inspired by a series of circumstances in Winn’s life, including the death of his father. “He and I weren’t close but at the end of his life, I was asked to return home to take care of him and my family. It was an extremely emotional situation, and definitely something that I’m still healing from.”
Billy Winn
He didn’t intend on making “Another Broken Heart” a dance record. Its original chorus was midtempo. The idea to speed up the melody and make it a dance record came from his production team, Johnie & Elliot. “Johnie turned the song into something rare,” Winn reflects. “It’s a dance track with a strong, relatable message about something we’ve all been through at least once. I think it’s the perfect summer song.”
Billy Winn is a Billboard-charting singer, songwriter, recording artist, and performer who regularly thrills audiences with his shows and music releases, ranging from high energy dance records to emotionally charged EDM. With Dreamland II, Winn notes his inspirations as being a mix of 90s R&B and the EDM of the last decade.
“I was listening to a lot of TLC and Janet Jackson while I was working on Dreamland II; specifically, Crazy, Sexy, Cool, Fanmail, and Janet’s Velvet Rope album. At the same time, I was listening to artists like Flume, Owl City, Robyn, and Tove Lo; trying to find a place musically where all those influences could exist or become something completely different altogether.”
Last year, Billy Winn released Dreamland I, an album that explored life as a perception of fantasy and guilty pleasures. Singles “Seal It with a Kiss”, “If You Really Cared”, and “Crash” were all presented as chapters in a larger story. “Another Broken Heart” is the next chapter in Winn’s Dreamland saga.
“In ‘Another Broken Heart’ and all of the songs in Dreamland II, the idea is that it’s all fun and games until someone catches feelings,” Winn says.
Dreamland II is a bit angrier than the first EP with a little more underlying pain because the perspective has changed. “I’m not only talking from one individual’s thoughts or feelings anymore. In Dreamland II, I consider multiple angles.”
It’s been a year since Winn released Dreamland I and the acclaim from the album has allowed him to tour and expand his fan base. It has also taught him to not doubt or second guess himself. “I’m trusting my instincts a lot more these days and I have to admit I’m pretty confident in the road ahead.”
“Things will happen that are outside of my control, but I’m not letting those forces control me.”
Billy Winn’s Dreamland II is being distributed by Ferocious Music and OneRPM and is available on iTunes, Spotify and all digital platforms. For more information, visit BillyWinn.com or follow him on Facebook.
