Riding Into November...

Halle & Her Harley
Halle Berry

Even though 2020 has been the longest year on record, it's hard to believe we have arrived in November, at all, actually. Well here to ride it in two days before the biggest election of our lives is Halle Berry seen on her Harley-Davidson out and about in Los Angeles.

Hey who wouldn't want to take a ride with Halle on her hog?! (in case you didn't know that is slang for Harley-Davidson, Google it if you don't believe me...)

Thus making Ms. Berry our November ride or die poster grrrrl.

So let's grab a helmet and ride into November shall we? It's going to be a bumpy ride, 100% guaranteed with Election Day looming mighty this Tuesday. Ugh! The suspense is driving my anxiety through the roof!

Bye, Bye, Bye November

Slaying!
Zendaya
On the last day of November 2019 heading into the last month of 2019, December I'm feeling somewhat nostalgic. Thus I was thinking about all things that went down this past year and one truth that stood out is: It's Zendaya's world we just live in it.

Think about it, but not too much. She's beautiful, talented, she always slays on the red carpet,  not to mention her career is on fire 🔥

While I had heard of Zendaya it wasn't until her breakout role as Rue Bennett on HBO's Euphoria that she caught my attention. Going forward I was hooked on her/

So let's leave November on a up note with visions of Lady Z dancing in our collective heads.

Sweet dreams and just say "No" to bedbugs!!!

Margaret Cho Gets Her Some "Law & Order: SVU"

Got Massage?
Margaret Cho

Albert Sanchez
One of my favorite people and my favorite TV Shows of all time, together on one night...I'm so in!

Emmy and Grammy Award-nominated actress, comedian, author and producer Margaret Cho will guest star in the record-breaking 21st season of “Law & Order: SVU.”

Cho will guest star as the manager of a massage parlor who’s swept up in a sex trafficking sting operation.  The episode, titled “Counselor, It’s Chinatown,” will air in November.

An accomplished performer in all formats, Margaret Cho could be called the “Queen of all Media” having conquered the worlds of film, television, books, music and theatre. She has five Grammy Award nominations (two for music albums, “Cho Dependent” and “American Myth”) and one Emmy nod for her groundbreaking work on NBC’s “30 Rock.” Never one to shy away from a difficult or taboo topic, her socially aware brand of stand-up comedy has made her both a thought leader as well as a teacher to those with open minds and open hearts. In 2017, Rolling Stone magazine named her one of the 50 Best Stand-Up Comics, calling her “the sort of funny, sex-positive feminist and LGBT activist younger comics continue to look up to.”  Equally as important as her creative side is the causes she is passionate about. Margaret is widely recognized for her charitable work with gay rights and anti-bullying campaigns. In every segment of her life, Margaret is honest, forthright, passionate, uproarious and always entertaining.

Watch all-new episodes of “Law & Order: SVU,” the longest-running primetime drama in television history, Thursdays at 10 p.m. on NBC.

Michael's Musings

Are You There Leather? It's Me, Michael
Michael Shinafelt
It's the second day of November and aren't you happy??? Halloween came, and went, this year the West Hollywood Halloween Carnival was fun, because I was with friends. But lackluster in terms of costumes and smelling like ween spirit.

Translation? I did not see one motherf#cking person in celebratory dress that I wanted to photograph or be photographed with.

Yep, time to pull my broomstick out and stick it up someone else's ass!

Thirty days has September, April, June & November - the more you know

Oh what a feeling when we're dancing on the ceiling!

80's music was plentiful at this year's Halloween Carnival in West Hollywood. Not sure why that was, but this ghoul likey!

"And this curve, is your smile, And this cross, is your heart, And this line, is your path" - Kate Bush, Red Shoes

Wendy Williams collapses. While I wish no one ill will, I really can't think of a woman more deserving. Think about why I chose the word woman instead of person, but not too much.

I saw an ecstatic headline on E! about Starbuck's unveiling their new Holiday cups. Seriously?!

Last time I checked I weighed in at a mighty 197, down 16 lbs. from 213. I have been so on the run this week and not to the gym, yet eating healthy on the fly I wonder what the tally will be Saturday before spin. I say I lost, not gained. Place your bets!

Just Because...Milo Ventimiglia

Bad Ass!
Milo Ventimiglia
Just Because it's November 1st. Just Because I feel pretty and Just Because beauty is where you find it. I gift you with an image of Milo Ventimiglia leaving a gym in West Hollywood, CA

Actually I was in WeHo as we locals affectionately(?) call it last night for the annual Halloween Carnival that happens there. Wonder what gym it was that Milo, The Stud was exiting, hmmmmmm...???

While I am so not a fan of This Is Us, yeah, I know. I did try to stomach, I mean watch it, once and turned it off about a quarter of the way through. I am always a fan of man candy

Busted! Today that what I am all about is the shallow end of the gene pool.

What can I say, sometimes you feel like a slut, sometimes you don't.

Happy November 1st minions!

The very thought of you, my love" - The Very Thought Of You

Happy Valentine's Day! Even if you aren't in a relationship this is a day to celebrate love, love, love...and we all have someone, or something that is special to us.

As you know Entertain Me likes to celebrate this day with it's resident chanteuse Sandy with a "Y" not "E" Zacky. She is an expert on L-O-V-E as this past November, she and her husband Ron celebrated their 54th Wedding Anniversary!!!

Imagine finding a love like that, that is cause for celebration, no? So pop the champagne and we will! With Sandy with a "Y" not "E" singing The Very Thought Of You from her acclaimed CD One Olive or Two.

The pop hit was originally sung by Al Bowlly in 1934

Today give the tip of the hat to the best emotion of all and let someone know you love them during these trying times.

As Sandy with a "Y" not "E" says to all of you: "I Wish You Love!"

OMG! It's November 1st...!!!

When Michael Met Michael
Photo:
Scott Jacobs
So here I am typing this morning after straggling in around 12:30 am last night from the West Hollywood Halloween Carnival. Was it fun you ask? Well I did get to meet my horror idol icon Michael Myers, and get strangled by him as you can see. So what more could a horror geek ask???

My friends Scott, Kent and I came, we saw, we made scary, not merry, yeah now that crap starts and it's still over a month away.

Personally, and I know I say this every year, but it really applies to this one in partick, I can't believe we have hit November and then December and the year is over!

Enjoy your first day of the new month, baby it's starting to get cooler outside, hey I live in Los Angeles, cold would be an oxymoron.

Glenn Frey, Hotel California

R.I.P. Glenn Frey
"Seems like God is trying to put together a hell of an All Star Band in Heaven" - Jackie Kilmer

Yes, it does, at least cancer was not the culprit this time. I remember the Eagles in my formative years. Hotel California was like an anthem for me growing up. It was part of the mythology that made me want to move West when I got older, an I did.
Here is some 411 on Glenn, may he Rest In Peace -
Glen Frey, co-founder and guitarist for the Eagles, has died ...
The cause of death was a combination of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia.
Frey had been battling intestinal issues for months and had surgery in November. We're told in the last few days his condition took a turn for the worse. He died in New York City.
Glenn co-wrote and sang on most of the Eagles hits, including "Take It Easy," "Tequila Sunrise," "Lyin' Eyes," and "Heartache Tonight," to name a few. He also co-wrote "Hotel California" and "Desperado" with Don Henley and took home 6 Grammys with the band.
After the Eagles' 1980 breakup, Glenn launched a successful solo career, recording numerous hits ... most notably "The Heat Is On" and "You Belong to the City."

"Hip & Accessible" Far In The Maples

Far in the Maples
Regina Conroy & Reshy P.
Turning the celebrated, swingin’ sound of the Jersey Shore inside out, “poetic pop” duo Far In The Maples is poised to cast a new seaside musical legacy built upon the nuances of internal emotion with unexpected soundscapes, unforgettable melodies and the sweetly understated vocals.

They recently released their album Skywork that showcases song-oriented music that’s both honest and contemporary with a classic timelessness, from an infectious new band driven by songbird Regina Conroy and multi-instrumentalist Reshy P.

Regina Conroy is here to tell us all about it, take it away Regina!

MS: Hey Regina nice to meet you, your musical style is so sophisticated. How did coming from the Jersey Shore influence it?

RC: Living at the Jersey Shore? I grew up around music all the time with my family. my Dad was a musician and so was my older brother. So when I was younger my Dad and my brother would play shows, or we would go to concerts, there was always stuff happening on the boardwalk, all these local shows that I would get to go to. I've loved to sing since I was five years old, anything that was playing in our kitchen when my Dad would turn on the radio...of course growing up on the Jersey Shore people are like: "Ohhhhh, you know Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi?" It's like, yes of course I've seen them both at stores and places like that. Maybe their music influenced me subconsciously, but I'm not a die hard fan because they live twenty minutes away from me. (laughs)

MS: To me your music, lyrically has a Bob Dylan vibe.

RC: My Mom is obsessed with Bob Dylan we always had his CD's in the car, I love him. Writing poetry is a passion of mine, I took a poetry class as an after school type thing. My poetry instructor told my Mom at the time: "Wow, she's really good for her age."

MS: How old were you?

RC: I was eight when I started writing poetry. As I got older I used my poetry as a means to write lyrics. When I was fifteen I got my first guitar so I started teaching myself and molding all of the scales together and started writing music.

MS: You really started from a young age.

RC: Definitely, I really did a lot of self teaching. I listened to all different types of music, would read the lyric books that came with all of the CD's. My influence was anything I could get my hands on. Some people go to school to learn to perform music or how to play it...for me it was just having it all around me all those years and picking up on all of the different influences.

MS: You and your band mate Reshy P. really know how to blend them well.

RC: It interesting, we both have different musical influences but we are able to find that balance of a little bit of mine, a little bit of his and make it into our own.

MS: The fact that you guys do pop music, yet are still artistic is great, a lot of people have lost a sense of that.

RC: I know, I know, it's hard to put a name on it, boil it down when people ask us: "Who do you think you guys sound like?" I don't know. There's lots of pop on the radio, but most of it is repetitive and one line. It's very dance kind of stuff, ours is a little more poetic. It's still pop, but there is a lot to be said and thought about in it.
Regina & Reshy

MS: So do you always write the lyrics and Reshy always writes it to music?

RC: For the most part. We started writing together in November of 2013. Basically the first time that we met I brought everything I had as far as things that I was working on lyrically and musically, and some were just lyrics. So we kind of worked from some of my little pieces that I had worked on before meeting Reshy and brought them to music. Basically I bring the lyrics and we work on them together but mostly it's ninety percent my words.

MS: What inspires your poetry?

RC: To inspire myself I put myself in a different place. Go somewhere, tap into how I feel in the moment. Most of it has been putting myself outside my comfort zone for inspiration. Much of what I write about is relationships. But I think the focus of that is writing about the journey of finding yourself. It's very reflective and very personal.

MS: You guys took the band name Far in the Maples from a Robert Frost poem. What is it you like about his work?

RC: I really haven't read a ton of poetry myself. I just kind of read stuff here and there, or people will show me something, and I'll say: "Hey I really like this!" Reshy actually showed me that poem and it stuck with us. The visualization of far in the maples...it's a beautiful poem. I'm not particularly a Robert Frost fan, but I'm not, not a fan either. (laughs)

WTF?! Nicole Kidman In A Lifetime Movie?!

Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly
OK, I had heard Grace of Monaco, starring one of my favorite actresses, Nicole Kidman was not all that good. This latest news on the indefinitely delayed film which was supposed to premiere in theaters in November of 2013. Well to put it mildly it is by passing the silver screen all together now and premiering on Lifetime May 25th, WTF!?

Nothing says bad like a Lifetime movie, and this must be some sort of awful since it costs $30 Million to make, the highest budgeted TV movie of the week ever.

Kidman, however, has defended the film, saying that it is not meant to be a biopic or documentary, but is just a "small part of  Grace Kelly's life when she reveals her great humanity as her fears and weaknesses."

Well at the very least, unlike a lot of acting in Lifetime movies, I am sure Kidman will deliver a great performance.

Check out the trailer below -

Spencer James Please "Don't Shake A Baby"

Spencer James "Don't Shake A Baby"
available digitally on November 4th

It's Martin and Lewis, with a little dash of Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. mixed in.
James blends both music and dance into his stand-up for a show that's
both anti "jobs" and yet pro "fat kids."

Yeah it's Sunday, November 2nd that calls for a martini.
Spencer James's comedy career started very early on. At eleven years old, he was the fat kid always getting picked on by school bullies and being ignored by every girl around. An army brat who moved frequently throughout the US as well as internationally, he used stand-up to provide comic relief.

James has entertained audiences all over the country. He
was the Winner of the 2014 World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas, Nevada and  "Best of the Fest" at the 2014 Burbank Comedy Festival. He was also recently seen on the Fox television show "Laughs".

A sort of "personal reveal", his comedy reflects a variety of influences - Bill Cosby's storytelling; Mitch Hedberg's one liners; Richard Pryor's vulnerability. He admires Bill Hicks, Bill Burr and Christopher Titus for the openness they all share. His comedy gives us his unique perspective on those things in life that he finds funny or weird - stuff like guys in wheelchairs buying ladders at Home Depot.

He discusses his warped reactions to first time relationships. No longer the "fat kid", he continues to feel its influence on his life and uses it to fuel his comedy.

Currently residing in Denver, CO, where beautiful women abound, he still finds it difficult to relate to them and this provides an endless stream of comic opportunities.
