When Paris is actually burning, the Kavanaugh/Blasey Ford hearing is a focus on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and my Freeform app on my computer isn't loading this weeks episode of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists (other apps are working, so this is on you Freeform) - you just know you are in for something extra this week! Notre Dame, Notre Dame (insert these two words into Prince's classic, in lieu of Purple Rain, it gels) Lisa Rinna's Mom Lois is the definition of amazing! WTF?! "Yes" Freeform I'm talking to you... Take a look at Teddi Mellencamp on this weeks RHOBH at Camille (blech) Grammar's shower and you will wonder why she wasn't hired as fake Melania I see transvestite hookers Where's Eddie Murphy when you need him? Honestly this weeks episode of RHOBH went political, like a virgin, for the very first time touching on the Kavanugh/Blasey Ford hearing. It was the show I never knew I needed, but did. One of the best of all seasons! Still can't view PLL: The Perfectionists - Freeform can you hear me??? Well my new TV arrives this week, it had better be ON DEMAND or you will be hearing from me, wait you already have and (silence like the plethora of thrillers of late) Camille Grammar, thanks for reminding me why I initially couldn't stand you on RHOBH. Just when I was actually starting to like you, you had to go and compare yourself to Brett Kavanaugh and side with him. The charade has ended, please let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

That's correct peeps the one and only Traci Lords turns the big five-oh today. Can you believe it?! So what's an Icon to do for her 50th? Why give her fans what they want most. New music and more Traci!
I got Traci to slow down long enough to chat with me about her latest tune "Come Alive" and what it feels like for a grrrrrrl turning 50. After all that's what friends are for! It's time to lick it up!
MS: Happy 50th, welcome to the tribe, how does it feel to be Fabulous & Fifty?
TL: It’s about damn time! I am so proud of everything I’ve accomplished and the life I live today. I can straight up tell you that I am happy, healthy and ready to finally take my place at the #elderbitches table! Bring it.
MS: I wanted to tell you my sister's Birthday is the day after yours and she will be turning 50 as well.
TL: How funny! Tell that Taurus woman that I wish her a very Happy Birthday!!!!
MS: Any big plans to celebrate the beginning of another decade of living?
TL: I’m celebrating my 50th over the next year! I’m going to do 5 things I’ve never done before. All of which must somehow terrify me! I’ll be traveling a lot, recording more music and really savoring time with my husband and my little boy! He’s growing up so fast and I love that I haven’t missed ANY of it. And yes, I will eat the cake.
MS: It's your party, what made you decide to gift your fans with the new single "Come Alive?"
TL: I really appreciate and love my fans.... without them there is no audience. They have given me so much of their attention over the years and they have been relentless in their pleas for new music. But it’s been difficult for me to wrap my brain around. Thing is I love to write and record but I’m not in a band and I don’t consider myself an amazing singer. I’m more of a vocal stylist. Having said that, I’m excited to be collaborating with different people this year. I’m in an exploring stage.
MS: Tell me what inspired the song.
TL: "Come Alive" is about surrendering to what you ache for. When I write, I try to paint a picture. This story is really about the 17 year old Traci who created an ultra ego to dominate men and make her world okay. It’s about being out of control ( Control has always been my obsession! I am a Taurus!!!!). but somehow finding power while flailing. It’s about the stories we tell ourselves to deal with the shit life hands us. You know surviving.
"Come Alive"
MS: Well I really like it. Are you planning a video for it? (Can I be in it?)
TL: Thank you so much Michael. The lyric video for "Come Alive" will be up on YouTube Today, my Birthday. 💋 The rest I’m not sure about yet!
MS: What's the latest 411 on your Pin-Up Girl clothing line.
TL: My Line at Pinup Girl is doing fantastic! I’ve had such an amazing time working with Laura Byrnes and my team. There’s so much creatively that’s going on in fashion right now. And I have several new pieces due out for summer that are truly classic vintage must have staples. Also, season 2 of our hilarious comedy series Swedish Dicks is landing on Pop TV this July 26. My character Jane McKinney is dressed head to toe in original Pinup Girl designs. We will be releasing the Jane collection as the show airs!
MS: Tell me one thing that you want for your Birthday that money can't buy.
TL: Tomorrow
MS: Who are you listening to at present (pun intended)
TL: These days, no pun intended, I am listening to myself. That's the great part of being an elder bitch. (laughs) Musically though, for real I am listening to Avicii remixes. I'm blown away that he is no longer on the planet, he was gone so young. I'm feeling a little nostalgic at the moment. I've been listening to the Pet Shop Boys, with a little Pat Benatar and some Blondie thrown in. "Yes" I'm in an eighties state of mind.
Elder Bitches in the Driver's Seat
Me & Traci
MS: Invite some famous people to celebrate Fabulous Fifty with you living or not, who would they be?
TL: Cleopatra, Brian Wilson, and Sid Vicious
MS: Any exciting acting gigs coming up?
TL: Season 2 of Swedish Dicks airs July 26 on Pop TV and my new indie film Steam Room Stories will start playing the festivals this Fall. 💋
As you all know I am a HUGE fan of Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, OK, carry on...
The ferocious duo Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo just wrapped up a busy week promoting their 35th Anniversary Tour DVD and CD with stops in New York city where not only did they knock out live appearances on CBS This Morning,FOX News and CNBC but also taped an hour long interview for AXS "The Big Interview With Dan Rather," which is scheduled to air on July 21st. In addition the pair sat down with Fox 411 and ABC News. The tour continued through New Jersey, Texas, Louisiana and Tennessee where they played the Ryman Auditorium, and were interviewed by RollingStone.com. The story features a debut video clip from the DVD's live show encore featuring the breakthrough hit "Heartbreaker" and the Johnny Cash classic "Ring of Fire."
The hour-long interview special with Rather explores the couple’s musical and personal partnership which began in 1979 and continues today. In addition to 35 year professional partnership the couple has been married since 1981.
"It was great to share with Dan our story," said Neil about the Rather interview. “He really took the time to explore our partnership and understand how we have worked together to create music, but we were also able to talk about all the other aspects of our partnership personal and professional. It's not all about the music there is so much more to who we are."
The night after New York the couple played to a packed house at the "Mother Church of Country Music," The Ryman Auditorium. The dynamic duo rocked the house with a set that included several of their biggest hits but also included the encore of their breakthrough "Heartbreaker" and the Johnny Cash classic “Ring of Fire."
"We often close our shows with "Heartbreaker" and "Ring of Fire," said Pat. "It was amazing to play have a chance to do that on the same stage where Johnny Cash once played. Our interview with RollingStone.com took place earlier in the day backstage, so I'm happy to have them debuting our live video clip from our live 35th Anniversary Concert DVD/CD with the article."

Valarie
Pettifordis
that rare breed, a triple threat. From the stages of Broadway to the
sound stages of Hollywood, she has charmed audiences with her
performances. A Fosse-trained dancer, Pettiford was Tony nominated
for her work in the musical revue, “Fosse”,
which paid homage to her mentor.
As
an actor, she is most recognized as Big Dee Dee Thorne on the hit
sitcom, “Half and Half”, and Aunt Geneva, whose rehearsal
dinner musical number in “Jumping the Broom” pretty
much stole the show from her Co-Stars.
Valarie
has released her second solo album, “Velvet Sky”, a collection of
original lullabies.. This new album, all of which were written
especially for her by two legendary writing teams – Ron
Abel (music)/Chuck Steffan (lyrics) and Michael
Orland (music)/Jamie Wooten (lyrics).
Here
to sing you a soothing lullaby as only she can is Ms. Valarie
Pettiford...!
VP:
Hey, it's Valarie Pettiford.
MS:
Hey, how are you?
VP:
I'm awesome how are you?
MS:
Great! I was giving “Velvet Sky” a listen before you called, it's
very nice, did your Mom sing you lullabies when you were a kid?
VP:
She did. She has a beautiful voice, it's so nice to see her now with
singing to her Great Grandchildren, she has always sang, and so does
my sister. Lullabies have always been a part of my life.
MS:
I always wondered if people really sang lullabies to their kids.
(laughs)
VP:
They do, they actually do. (laughs)
MS:
There was something I read that stated you thought your voice was
well suited to them, I agree with that.
VP:
Thank you, thank you. People always ask me: “Valarie what do you
usually sing”? Of course I do Jazz and Musical Theatre, but my
heart is in Rock-N-Roll. But I just don't have a Rock-N-Roll voice,
so I have thought about where my vocal sensibilities lie. I think
they do lie in this particular vein.
MS:
Interesting, because I wouldn't know by hearing you sing that you
didn't have a Rock-N-Roll voice. Because as we all know Pat Benatar
was trained as an opera singer and she has a Rock-N-Roll voice...so
someone listening to you would not necessarily know you didn't have
that type of voice.
VP:
You're right, I mean I could do it, but it's not the way I want to do
it. I would want to sound like Pat Benatar or Tina Turner, but I
don't.
MS:
Rumor has it you pretty much stole “Jumping The Broom”.
VP:
(laughs) Somebody said that, not me. My role was very delicious, it
was amazing to, I was surrounded by the best cast and had the best
director. It was a wonderful experience.
MS:
I heard you had an off color musical number in it.
VP:
I did. (laughs) The movie is about a wedding and I did a song during
the rehearsal dinner, that was inappropriate but, funny as Hell.
MS:
Since I haven't seen it, can you tell me what it was?
VP:
Well....the movie has been out for a while so it won't spoil it for
anyone. But sometimes I hate saying it, because it will spoil it for
people who have not seen the movie and still want to see it.
