The less said about last night's American Music Awards the better. The AMAs felt like a fast food menu, you partake but there is no real satisfaction. 

While combing through red carpet photos this morning one of the images stood out for me, the one of Erika Jayne slaying with a that's, well, so Erika. Also because Season 8 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills draws nigh. 

The premiere date is etched in stone in my brain. Why you might ask? Because it is the day after my Birthday. "Yes" the RHOBH premiere date is Tuesday December 19th, the day of my birth is Monday December 18th. Got it? I know you do. So I guess that means Bravo is giving me their present a day late, bastards!

So here it is me giving zero f#cks the Monday before Thanksgiving about the AMA's because, well they were boring AF!

It's been over forty years since KC and The Sunshine Band danced onto the music scene, transforming the landscape of pop music, and creating a signature sound spanning generations young and old. With sales of over 100 million records, nine Grammy nominations, three Grammy Awards and an American Music Award, they are still known today as one of the most progressive bands of the 70s; and in the midst of a millennial, digital age, their music is still discovered daily by millions around the world through its continual placement in top box office movies, TV commercials, TV shows and video games. This month, the band celebrates international recognition with 1984 hit "Give It Up," licensed for use in one of the leading scenes in blockbuster action movie, KINGSMAN: The Secret Service -- marking over 200 on-screen musical appearances for KC and The Sunshine Band. Whether the scene is fun and light-hearted or violent like in KINGSMAN, (where "Give It Up" plays as the villain acts out his infernal plan), and new Australian indie film, Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead, (where "Get Down Tonight" is the anthem of choice as the lead character, a mad scientist, goes to town on terrified, live "cadavers" in his lab), KC and The Sunshine Band seems to have created an R&B, funk and disco infused soundtrack for pretty much every type of scene imaginable, whether its scored by music supervisors out of irony, or logic. "It makes me happy to know that my music has withstood the test of time," said Harry Wayne "KC" Casey. "Disco and funk have never really gone away. Look at Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' current No. 1 Billboard smash, "Uptown Funk." That song takes it back to the sound of my day. I'm glad to see my musical style being preserved not only on-screen but in current radio hits too." Over the past forty years, the list of films and commercials KC's music has been summoned for is seemingly endless. In the early 70s, at the height of the KC and The Sunshine Band phenomenon, they made their on-screen debut with "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty," in Top of the Pops and The Brady Bunch Hour, before "That's The Way I Like It," made its way into a comedic skit inSaturday Night Live. Then, in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, viewers and KC were reacquainted once again in Deuce Bigalow, Blow, Legally Blonde, Austin Powers, Saving Silverman, Rush Hour, The Simpsons, Dr. Dolittle, Forrest Gump, The Players Club, Space Jam, Picture Perfect and She's So Lovely, to name a few. More recently, in 2010, Sun Life Financial enlisted KC and his band as actors in its TV ad, humorously commissioning the band to change their name to the "SunLife Band," and their Saturday Night Fever hit, "Boogie Shoes," made its resurgence in 2014 in a Raisin Bran commercial. Other modern-day hit series like Scandal, The Big Bang Theory, Dancing With The Stars, Lovelace, Three Many Weddings, and the East Enders have all featured KC's music within the past two years. Furthermore, this March, Director Mark Moormann and Beacon Films, LLC will bring the music and career legacy of KC and The Sunshine Band to the Miami International Film Festival in the feature-length documentary, THE RECORD MAN, capturing the life of KC's long-time producer and record executive Henry Stone. Though so much history is written, KC and his band are not ready to call it quits. Their long-awaited new album Feeling You! The 60s, will impact stores, iTunes and Amazon on Tuesday, March 10. Miley Cyrus "Came In Like A Wrecking Ball" At The American Music Awards

I woke up this morning to an E-mail from David Zey from the band Ponyboy asking me this question:

"Dudebro. did you catch Miley's performance?" 

To quote him directly. Well no I didn't I thought Hmmmmmmm.....what did she do this time, I thought the only attention getting antic left for our Lady of Cyrus was a live sex show, I was wrong.

Her performance was brilliant last night! Let me explain why, because even though she had an adorable kitten singing along with her in some sort of cyberspace alternate reality who cried kitty tears at the climax of the song and she had her own eenie meenie teeny weeny kitten headed bikini on, this decidedly low key performance stunt, for Miley at least, brought full focus to what a truly talented singer she is. Her vocal performance and her ability to access her emotions while showcasing her abilities connected her talent as a singer, with the audience again.

Vocally and emotionally Ms. Cyrus knocked it out of the park!

Also for what it's worth, for some reason I can't really place my finger on, I found the kitten motif compelling and complimentary to the performer's agenda -

Say what you will about her Miley Cyrus really knows how to sing a song and make you take notice with or without the silly antics.

WHAT: Legendary entertainer Diana Ross comes to the Hollywood Bowl, Saturday, August 3, at 8 pm. The special one-night-only performance will feature selections from her impressive and expansive career, that spans more than four decades!

Opening for Ms. Ross is Rhonda Ross, followed by Pentatonix, the vocal sensation and winner of season 3 of NBC’s “The Sing-Off.” The quintet’s latest YouTube video, “Evolution of Music,” has garnered more than 15 million views, while their YouTube channel has over 1.1 million subscribers and 100 million views. The group is comprised of lead vocalists Scott Hoying, Kirstie Maldonado and Mitch Grassi; vocal bass Avi Kaplan and beatboxer Kevin “K.O.” Olusola. Evan Ross is the last of the opening performers.

Diana Ross has had a profound influence on American popular culture and has become an icon in the entertainment industry. Hey Pentatonix fans, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....Yep Halloween is over and Christmas is coming.

PTX is releasing an album for the season, and as I am sure you PTX groupies out there know, everything they do either enhances the original song they cover, or makes it better, so have a PTXmas, I know I will...!

PENTATONIX SET TO RELEASE CHRISTMAS EP – PTXmas – NOV. 13, 2012

LOS ANGELES, CA - On November 13, vocal sensations and winners of season 3 of NBC’s “The Sing-Off,” Pentatonix, will release their first-ever Christmas EP – PTXmas – via Madison Gate Records (the album is available for pre-order now on the iTunes store -https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/ptxmas/id572957637).

This news coincides with the band’s announcement of a second North American tour, kicking off January 24 at Los Angeles’ Henry Fonda Music Box and continuing through March, 2013.  The 2013 tour announcement comes in the middle of the band’s current sold-out tour, which will keep Pentatonix on the road through late December.   Full tour dates are listed below and are available via the band’s website here: www.ptxofficial.com/tour.  Limited VIP tickets for the 2013 tour will go on sale this Friday, November 2, with general ticketing commencing on Saturday, November 3.  

In other exciting news, Pentatonix has been chosen to perform at the “Coca-Cola Red Carpet LIVE! @ The 2012 American Music Awards” pre-show on November 18.  The show will stream live for fans worldwide starting at 5pm ET / 2pm PT. 

Viewers will be able to watch the live show on ABC.com, AMAs365.com, Cokemusic.com, Livestream, Ustream, YouTube, and through AP Live Entertainment.

Surrounding the EP release, Pentatonix will be making various appearances including performing at the famed Hollywood Christmas Parade (set to air on the Hallmark Channel in December) and appearing in their only LA area Christmas performance as special guests of radio station  94.7 The Wave’s Christmas Concert at the Nokia Theater on Sunday, December 16.
