HBO has officially cancelled The Idol. With all the backlash I can't say I am surprised. This being stated I didn't get the backlash. For a show trying so hard to be shocking it lacked substance and, well the power to shock.
I turned it off after two episodes and forgot to un-record the series. Thus I watched the last two episodes out of curiosity. Guess what Minions?!?! The same thing was happening that happened in the first two episodes, it's like shampoo, rinse and repeat.
The series was honestly boring AF to me with a capital "B"
Perhaps I'm simply jaded or I'm more intelligent than the average media consumer. It's like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop: The World May Never Know.
As far as this guy is concerned Christmas is coming December 6th. That's correct Minions Euphoria is a back for two one hour shows, but it's not season 2.
Unfortunately season 2 got sidelined by you know what, that darn COVID. But fear not until the next season happens we have these upcoming episodes to bridge the gap, fill our addiction, make us want more...Euphoria!
Zendaya who won an Emmy (rightfully so) for her portrayal of Rue has spilled that the first bridge episode is called Part 1: Rue.
In case you haven't picked up on it, to say I am a huge fan of the show would be putting it, well, mildly. I really can't wait for December 6th to come! Not only did I watch the first season when it initially aired I binged it when HBO had a marathon of it.
Euphoria is such a densely packed show that you will see something different upon repeat viewings.
Produced by six-time Academy Award-winner Arthur Cohn, The Etruscan Smile stars renowned actor Brian Cox (HBO's Succession) in a career-defining role as Rory MacNeil, a rugged Scotsman who is forced to leave behind his beloved home and seek medical treatment in San Francisco. Moving in with his estranged son, Rory's life will be transformed, when he least expects it, through the redemptive power of love. Katie Walsh of the Los Angeles Times says "Cox is a wonder to watch, and seeing him in this gentle, vulnerable role is a treat."
The film also boasts a strong ensemble cast featuring Rosanna Arquette, JJ Feild, Thora Birch, Tim Matheson, Peter Coyote, and Treat Williams. Tim Appelo of AARP Movies says "It's worth watching for Cox's bravura performance with some of the best grownup actors alive."
Film Festival Awards include:
Winner, Festival Grand Prize, Best Film, Stony Brook International Film Festival
Winner, Best Feature, Rhode Island International Film Festival
Winner, Audience Award, Traverse City Film Festival
Well March is finally over THAT was the longest month ever!!! I suspect since we are still on lock down until the end of April, March now has competition. I, like you minions, can't wait until all this is over, so what have all of you been doing with your time, well here are some of the things I've been doing, texting and thinking... For reasons only known to them HBO is playing a lot of old movies of late. Sometimes it's great when they play gems like Dangerous Liasons, but most of the time it's, meh My Social Media game has improved of late, there's that In today's episode of My Life With The Chill Pill Cult Alyssa Milano is trending on Twitter at present. It's because she called out Bernie Sanders for putting his ego above the greater good. Wait, don't we already have a President that does that?! If one is unhappy about the way they are depicted in a documentary, here's a hint - stop being a jerk Life Hack: If you keep a glass of wine in each hand you can't touch your face...you're welcome! Kenny Rogers checking out during the apocalypse is the most "know when to fold them" gangsta move I've ever seen The things I will put up your a$$ if you don't STFU, luckily I have a lot of bananas
Woman Crush of the Week - Michelle Pfeiffer as Madame de Tourvel in Dangerous Liasons - Beautiful and heartbreaking. See's Candy has halted production, the line has officially been crossed Employees at Grocery Stores right now should get combat pay Helpful Tip - remember Vegans are the closest thing to grass fed. Think about it, but not too much #quaranpeen
On the last day of November 2019 heading into the last month of 2019, December I'm feeling somewhat nostalgic. Thus I was thinking about all things that went down this past year and one truth that stood out is: It's Zendaya's world we just live in it. Think about it, but not too much. She's beautiful, talented, she always slays on the red carpet, not to mention her career is on fire 🔥
While I had heard of Zendaya it wasn't until her breakout role as Rue Bennett on HBO's Euphoria that she caught my attention. Going forward I was hooked on her/ So let's leave November on a up note with visions of Lady Z dancing in our collective heads. Sweet dreams and just say "No" to bedbugs!!! I caught this again recently on HBO, still hold up, still a great film.
PART MAN, PART MACHINE, ALL COP. RoboCop, from Orion Pictures, marked director Paul Verhoeven's (Flesh + Blood) Hollywood debut and instantly became an enduring sci-fi/action classic when it landed in theaters in the summer of 1987. Verhoeven's peerlessly exciting and kinetic visuals were matched by a sharp script, iconic cast and exceptional special effects by Rob Bottin (The Thing) and Phil Tippett (The Empire Strikes Back). The film takes place in Detroit in the not-too-distant future. Heroic cop Alex Murphy (Peter Weller, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai) is gunned down in the line of duty, only to be resurrected as RoboCop - a cybernetic mix of spare human parts and Motor City steel, and the latest defense against crime designed by the all-powerful OCP Corporation. As RoboCop's memories of his former life as Murphy resurface, only his ex-partner (Nancy Allen, Dressed To Kill) stands beside him to fight against the vicious thugs responsible for his death, as well as a nefarious top-level OCP executive orchestrating the chaos from above. "I'm a little bit unholy. So what, so is everyone else" Unholy, Miley Cyrus "Yes" everyone is quote en quote unholy, what you need to ask are you an immoral POS?! Donald Trump stand in the front of that line. Swish, swish, Motherf#cker!!! Moving on... I put my money where my mouth is. I attended a benefit for the ACLU organized and headlined by the amazing Ariel Beesley @ The Echo in Los Angeles this past Tuesday. So There's that. Damn, it's four ayem! "Head like a hole, black as your soul, I'd rather die than give you control" Head Like A Hole, Nine Inch Nails Shade never made anybody less gay, it made them get gayer Hope everyone is having a groovy Brady Bunch type of week Random Thought: Anyone out there seen Maria Callas in Pier Paolo Pasolini's Medea, anyone? About last night- "#Trump tweeted that tonight’s #DemocraticDebate was boring. As if we aren’t aware that’s how he feels about anything he can’t eat or fuck." - Bette Midler HBO's Euphoria is an amazing show! I have many answers, what is the question?

June isn't over yet, thus Pride Month marches on...to keep the love flowing I bring you one Evan Rachel Wood, who happens to be openly bisexual, showing how proud she isat the Los Angeles Pride Parade. Ms. Wood recently appeared on HBO's Westworld, is seen here at the corner of San Vicente & Santa Monica Blvd. waving a rainbow flag in the air like she don't care. What's that? How did I know what street corner she is standing on? Because I recognize the background clues. "Yes" in case you are out of the loop I live in Los Angeles. So let the Pride continue and carry on with your bad selves... Rainbow High Five! ERW on IG - https://www.instagram.com/evanrachelwood/?hl=en
Happy Mother's Day, to all of you out there who have a paternal role in a child's life. Because as Norman Bates says, well refer to the above image for that quote. Yeah, I took a turn to the macabre a tad today, but not really, it's more of a nostalgia type of thing. You see there was this Psycho marathon on HBO recently and I sat through it, the danger of channel surfing.
Mother & Son Norma & Norman Bates
Thus when Mother's Day 2019 arrived I thought it would be a nice twist to honor those out there who know their role by going a little mad, like we all do sometimes 😉 So Cheers to everyone out there who has one of the most important jobs in the world. Happy Mother's Day to you all! Mother's Day on Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mother%27s_Day
This image of Sharon Stone snapped at LAX giving the peace sign is everything you need heading into the weekend.
It sums up what we should all do, chill, take life as it comes and roll with it. Trust, you will be much happier if you do.
Now that I've given my mini sermon on the computer - it's truly nice to see Ms. Stone back in the spotlight without losing her religion.
She was the best thing in HBO's Mosaic and has the upcoming theatrical release All I Wish with Tony Goldwyn of Scandal fame dropping March 30th.
What's that you ask? "No" I am not on Sharon Stone's payroll I am simply a fan who thinks what the world needs now is Sharon, sweet Sharon...and a new President.
It's Christmas Eve and what else did you expect here at Entertain Me other than to be thrown a curve ball? A lot of you are most likely reading today's byline and are puzzled, annoyed or perhaps thinking WTF?! There are of course some of you not engaging in a volatile reaction regarding the divisive Ms. Heigl. Whatever your feelings are, that was the point of today's post, to mix them up this Holiday. Thus I bring you the image of Katherine and her husband of ten years singer Josh Kelley recreating one of their nude photos from days of yore. Ten years after all is a lifetime in Hollywood. Katherine has sort of been on my mine of late as I stumbled across Unforgettable, a Fatal Attraction type movie she did with Rosario Dawson on an HBO free view that was given to me for whatever the F#ck reason. The movie was pretty forgettable, however I did think Heigl (and Dawson) were good. Mic Drop! Have a great Christmas Eve! PS Katherine, it looks like you have quit smoking, congrats! Katherine on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/katherineheigl/?hl=en
How was your Thanksgiving? Well mine was sunny and the temperature was in the 90's. Yes, that's correct, no freezing of the ass for this guy and his fellow minions in the City of Angels. Thus I hereby bring you this photo of one of my fellow sun bunnies and favorite actresses, Laura Dern soaking up the sun in Malibu, wearing nothing more than a black bikini. Can you believe she is 50?! As someone who is 51, my take is age is just a number and you only get better not older. Laura is genuine proof of this. She recently slayed in HBO's Big Little Lies. Now would someone please pass me the sunscreen? It's just another 90 degree day here in Los Angeles. Ciao! Laura on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000368/?ref_=fn_nm_nm_1
Nothing, I mean nothing will top Meryl Streep's Golden Globe speech last night. I thought about running it today since it was in a word, amazing, but of course by now everyone has posted and re-posted it so I decided to go another direction. Here without further hyperbole is my favorite Instagram post about the Golden Globes...Julia Louis-Dreyfus! Although she did not win this year for her HBO show Veep she's a winner in my book for this photo which she captioned:
We are a mere five days into 2017 and no celebrity deaths have occurred. Give it time it's still too soon after the three major ones at the end of 2016. If only I could give you a juicy bone to gnaw on, but alas there is not too much to say at this premature stage of the NY. Give it some time, there is going to be plenty to rant about, love and be grateful for, soon. So here are my meager offerings as of now, drama free and without interruption. Best thing about New Year's weekend? The Twilight Zone marathon on the SyFy Network. Mariah Carey really needs a reality check and to change her first name to Pariah. Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher & Debbie Reynolds on HBO. Can't wait! Honestly, if you haven't seen Leah Remini exposing Scientology on her A&E docu-series you haven't lived. Cross my heart. If you take quotes from Law & Order: SVU out of context, they are really quite funny. Quote of the Week: "It makes me sad when anyone calls LGBTQ people perverts, because that means they don't know that straight people can have good sex too" - Faith Choyce, Comedian BTW the Golden Globes are this Sunday, in case you care.
Vanderpump Rules
Not So Much Anymore
Is it me or is Vanerpump Rules really fucking staged this season. Transparently so, I have now dubbed the show A Gaggle Of Twats. Just the other day I was "lucky" enough to board a subway car with a black gentleman bellowing to another how white people disrespect him all the time. Really? You mean you talking shit at the top of your lungs in a public place isn't disrespecting anyone??? Which reminds me I got an PM on Facebook the other day from someone chiding me for the use of #hastags - really. If that is your biggest issue in life go Fuck yourself. Monkey Mat Mama's, why not I ask you? "The Best Time of my Life is Now" - Marilyn Monroe I will leave with the sage words of wisdom from the formidable Ms. Marilyn Monroe. Until next week, yeah, you know what's coming. Ciao! I Tweet and Instagram at: https://twitter.com/MShinafelt https://www.instagram.com/michaelshinafelt/
We all know what freeballing is don't we kiddies? Well in case you don't it's when a man isn't wearing any underwear beneath his shorts, sweats, pants etc..thus the term free-balling, think about it, but not too long, OK? Some guys were born to unleash the Kraken for everyone to stare at. In the case of genetically blessed The Leftovers star Justin Theroux it should be a requirement he never wear any undies to conceal his anaconda, never! It would be a crime against humanity. I mean wow! Check out the capture above from his HBO series and tell me that is not one package you would like to open. OK, enough of Justin and his bad boy antics it's time to focus on having a productive and terrific Thursday. Step away from the computer, come on, now!!! Matt Bomer of American Horror Story: Hotel is like a fine wine, he only gets better with age. Yep, that's correct the hunky critically acclaimed actor turns, can you believe it? Thirty-Eight today and looks amazing!
With a Golden Globe win for HBO's The Normal Heart and many shirtless scenes in Magic Mike XXL, not to mention a his many gratuitous nude scenes in AHS: Hotel with Lady Gaga, skin never looked so yummy!
For those of you who aren't in the know, Matt is also the father of three boys Henry, Kit and Walker with husband Simon Halls.
Matt w/Lady Gaga in His Birthday Suit
Oh Daddy! Happy Birthday Matt and Cheers to many more good years and skin to come!
Being that Whitney Houston was the number one influence on him as a singer it was merely a matter of time before singer/musician/artist Matt Zarley dropped a cover of one of her many classics. That day has arrived! Yes today Matt's cover of I Look To You drops on iTunes.
To celebrate I asked Mr. Zarley to give me ten reasons Whitney was his favorite artist of all time.
Of course he gave the awesome type of answers only a super fan could.
Take it away Matt!
1. Her debut album (I played the cassette so much that I actually had to replace it)
2. “If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful” - I was so obsessed with this song. I used to play
the last half from the end of the bridge thru to the end and marvel at her stunning
vocals. https://youtu.be/IzYIBlA7hDs
3. “The Greatest Love of All” music video - The part where she walks across the stage in
her silver evening gown. To this day, there’s something simple yet magical in that
moment. https://youtu.be/IYzlVDlE72w
4. “I’m Your Baby Tonight” album - This is when we started to hear her really rip thru a
song. Her first 2 albums were very refined; whereas this was the moment we started to
hear her true r&b roots.
5. “Welcome Home Heroes” HBO Concert - This is one of the greatest concerts ever.
She has never sounded better. Billy Porter and I would sit in my NYC apartment for
hours, watching and studying her nuances. This is also when Billy and I so lovingly
nicknamed her SONGSTRESS: ALL THAT IS VOICE. (I’m totally not lying) https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=11x2xf5BE6Q
6. The Bodyguard - This was her peak, vocally. She was the platinum standard of which
most singers of my generation looked up to.
7. Cinderella - I actually appeared in this Disney television tv movie. She was the exec
producer and star of this. Though I didn’t get to work with her (I worked with Brandy
for a month), I love to be able to say I was in the same film with her. :)
8. “The Star Spangled Banner” - THE BEST rendition of this classic. No one will ever top
her performance ever.
9. Her talent and artistry - I don’t think most people really appreciated how gifted she
was. She made it look so easy. She had a gift for connecting to a lyric and really
communicating that story to the listener. She could draw you in to her. Very few artists
can stand at a microphone and just sing….and make you feel something, really affect
you. She had that gift. She didn’t need to fly, flash her nipples, or kiss another woman
to get your attention. Her artistry was enough. https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=11x2xf5BE6Q
10. That voice - In my opinion, she was and is the greatest pop vocalist ever. She had that
mezzo soprano range that allowed her to glide thru octaves seemlessly. She knew the
importance of a melody and not to oversing or over embellish a song. She respected
the music. She would always establish the tune first before riffing her face off…which
always felt like it made sense. Her intonation and clarity of tone was off the charts
perfect. She truly had the most beautiful instrument we will likely ever hear. No one
even comes close. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cdEH_tTvug
Just One Of The Girls
l-r Bel Powley, Alexander Skarsgard &
Director: Marielle Heller
Alexander Skarsgard who played the vampire most likely to do bad things to you, Eric Northman on HBO's True Blood recently appeared on the red carpet in drag of all things for the premiere of his movie: The Diary of a Teenage Girl.
Was he shooting an audition video for RuPaul's Drag Race? Showing support for one of his co-stars, drag performer Peaches Christ? No one knows for sure, but talk about attention getting! The Diary of a Teenage Girl, is based on Phoebe Gloeckner's graphic novel set in 1976, Skarsgård plays Monroe, a 35-year-old man who is dating Chloe (KristenWiig) and later begins an affair with her 15-year-old daughter Minnie ( Bel Powley). This may explain the choice of outfit, being as the subject matter will most likely stir up controversy, so why not add a little more fuel to the fire? You go Skarsgard! Read a teenage girl's diary at: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3172532/?ref_=hm_otw_t7
