Hump Day & Chill

Another Wednesday, another Hump Day & Chill. We made it to the middle and honestly I'm in a take no prisoners mood.

Thus I'm not in the mood to tolerate ridiculous drama. That's correct you heard me ridiculous drama.

That seems to be the plague of the masses these days and I want no part of it.

Basically this hat sums it all up for me in the most delightful way.

Yep, I'm not here on this planet for that shit...

Film Buff Friday: Man Of A Thousand Faces

A thousand faces?! Wow! Most people only have two...

One screen legend pays homage to another in Man of a Thousand Faces, an enthralling biopic which sees Oscar-winning tough guy James Cagney give a multifaceted portrayal of silent cinema legend Lon Chaney. In early horror classics such as The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Phantom of The Opera, Lon Chaney captivated audiences with his vivid personifications of grotesque and afflicted characters. His extraordinary make-up skills, and miraculous ability to completely transform into grisly yet sympathetic and tragic monsters, garnered him international acclaim and the famous moniker of this film's title. Yet, despite his talent and success, Chaney led a life plagued by hardship and heartache. This insightful film-portrait traces the trajectory of the actor's career: from impoverished vaudeville clown to Hollywood stardom, whilst also capturing the drama that surrounded his private life. The film is presented here for the first time in dazzling High Definition, with a selection of revealing extras.

Bonus Materials

  • Brand new restoration from the original negative by Arrow Films
  • High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) presentation
  • Uncompressed Mono 1.0 PCM audio soundtrack

Margaret Cho

Albert Sanchez
One of my favorite people and my favorite TV Shows of all time, together on one night...I'm so in!

Emmy and Grammy Award-nominated actress, comedian, author and producer Margaret Cho will guest star in the record-breaking 21st season of “Law & Order: SVU.”

Cho will guest star as the manager of a massage parlor who’s swept up in a sex trafficking sting operation.  The episode, titled “Counselor, It’s Chinatown,” will air in November.

An accomplished performer in all formats, Margaret Cho could be called the “Queen of all Media” having conquered the worlds of film, television, books, music and theatre. She has five Grammy Award nominations (two for music albums, “Cho Dependent” and “American Myth”) and one Emmy nod for her groundbreaking work on NBC’s “30 Rock.” Never one to shy away from a difficult or taboo topic, her socially aware brand of stand-up comedy has made her both a thought leader as well as a teacher to those with open minds and open hearts. In 2017, Rolling Stone magazine named her one of the 50 Best Stand-Up Comics, calling her “the sort of funny, sex-positive feminist and LGBT activist younger comics continue to look up to.”  Equally as important as her creative side is the causes she is passionate about. Margaret is widely recognized for her charitable work with gay rights and anti-bullying campaigns. In every segment of her life, Margaret is honest, forthright, passionate, uproarious and always entertaining.

Watch all-new episodes of “Law & Order: SVU,” the longest-running primetime drama in television history, Thursdays at 10 p.m. on NBC.

Monday Motivation

No Drama
Big Little Lies

"Monday mornin´, it was all I hoped it would be, Oh Monday mornin´, Monday mornin´ couldn´t guarantee" Monday, Monday - The Mamas and the Papas

Ahhhhhhhhhh "Yes" it's another Manic Monday but does that mean there has to be drama? Noooooooooo! Today's Monday Motivation, or MM as as we now defer to it is, just say no to drama.

Man I really don't go from one self induced crisis to another. Not my style or jam. I prefer to stay in my lane and know my role.

No drama, or minimal drama (because let's face it, life always has some static) is the way to achieve being your own personal best.

Thus I declare this Monday, and for that matter the rest of everyone's week, and for that matter again, life - a drama free zone! Honestly the only drama I want is when I watch Big Little Lies every week, mic drop? Hell "Yes!"

Ain't nobody got time for that sh!t for reals...

Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Shoot That Poison Arrow
Alicia Vikander
The reboot of Tomb Raider opens today, thus I bring you this striking image of Alicia Vikander aka Lara Croft poised and ready to hit you with her best shot, bow & arrow style.

While I did see the original with Angelina Jolie I will be sitting this one out. Why? It has nothing to do with Vikander, it has to do with my taste changing. There was a time I would go see pretty much anything I was such a rabid movie goer. Well things have changed and I no longer have time for that.

Translation: Most movies are not that great and or can be viewed in the comfort of your own home. I am quite choosy about what I will spend $$$ on to go see in a theater...and guess what action films are not really my thing. They have to have more layers to them than fancy stunts and set pieces to entice this guy. Since most of them are that and only that, you get the pic.

Digressing a little I do like Vikander, she is a top notch actress and if anyone can breathe life into the role of Lara Croft it's her.

Best wishes Alicia I wish you all the success in the world with this, I however will wait for you next drama.

Mic drop!

"Spread Your Legs!" Keeping Up With The Kardashians

Where's The Guacamole?!
Khloe Kardashian
"I'm gonna get guacamole up your vagina right now. Spread your legs. Tell her to spread her legs." Kourtney Kardashian to Khloe Kardasian during a food fight involving, duh, guacamole.

OK, while I am not a rabid Kardashian fan, I do admit to being a casual observer. Define that you say? Well each weeks new episode is the soundtrack to my early morning (I wake up at five) work schedule. In other words one of the shows that is great background noise while I am on the computer.

That being stated it's quotes like the above one that keep me coming back for more sound bites. It certainly isn't the "drama" and the staged ways it is dealt with. Also I have to admit I have a special fondness for Khloe Kardashian

Khloe, always the straight shooter is a woman after my own heart. She is the one I know I could hang with and have a blast as we would be on the same page. Below are fifteen Khloe Kuotes that I have selected that sound like things I say and text to my friends & loved ones. Don't you wish you were on my list of contacts now???
1. “I hear the pitter-patter of a dinosaur.” – On hearing mom Kris Jenner’s footsteps approaching.
2. “Wow my sister has changed. She used to whip her boobs out for no reason. Now she does it to feed her child.” – On sister Kourtney Kardashian becoming a mom.
3. "Sometimes a b**ch snaps."
4. "It's haunting me for the rest of my life" – On Kim’s song “Jam.”
5. “Droopy balls? Buy briefs! A bra for your balls!” – Via Twitter.
6. “Your hair is, like, shorter than a vagina’s bush.” – To mom Kris after a haircut.
7. “I could maybe hit it better if they were black balls.” – To Bruce Jenner, on golfing.
8. “I’m Khloe. My sisters say I am a b**ch.”
9. “Hi Satan!” – Addressing mom Kris on the phone.
10. "Are you going to be a boring whore your whole life?" – To one of her sisters.
11. “Sorry, Sir, I curse a lot.”
12. “I have a nipple obsession and personally love when women show their nipples— perhaps I was a member of a nudist colony in my last life.” – On her sheer X-Factor top.
13. "A little bun in the oven. Your ass is gonna be so big." – On Kim’s pregnancy.
14. "I am gonna turn into an alcoholic tonight."
15. "Don’t go into the ocean while on your period because a shark is going to attack you."

OMG! They're Naked! Chelsea Handler & Nick Offerman

Extra, extra! "Women & Men: An Issue About Our Current Difficulties" that's what the current issue of Esquire proclaims to be all about. Yes, the mag stakes claim that the entire issue is "devoted entirely to how men and women interact." Men & Women interacting, oh my the drama.

While we are all quite accustomed to viewing Handler's ample and beautiful breasts, we are not nearly as used to seeing her derriere.

The usually clothed Offerman, who is one of the stars of Parks and Recreation is no stranger to flashing his junk. He bared everything in 2014 on Deadwood. That being stated he is not someone we see doing this on a regular basis.

"I love performing -- and I'm not an exhibitionist, I'm not a Kardashian, by any stretch. And I'm not built in the way that people regularly ask me to bare myself," he told Flavorwire of stripping down on camera. "But when things call for it, I've done it on stage, I've done it on screen...I enjoy the beauty of nature."

Bounce those hot booty's you two!

Kim Richards "Revenge" This Sunday

Watch Your Back Hamptons, It's Kim Richards!
Revenge is one of the most uneven, frustrating shows I have ever followed. Every season contains good episodes and bad ones, the week to week quality of the show is like a game of darts sometimes it hits sometimes, OK most of the time, it misses.

The last two weeks episodes have left me underwhelmed. Yet I continue to watch and there is added incentive this Sunday as one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kim Richards guest stars.

Richards is what drew me to watch RHOBH in the first place as she was a child star when I was growing up. She starred in one of my fave Disney films ever Escape to Witch Mountain. So there!

Obviously Revenge felt the need to call in a drama pro for some extra trouble and Kim is a perfect choice to do just that!

Richards will be playing Stephanie, a society lady and friend of Victoria's (Madeleine Stowe), who is a member of Nolan's (Gabriel Mann) Southampton Beach Club.

Will Stephanie will be carrying some secrets in her purse? Do you really need to ask? She and her friend Heather each have a secret or three and they're willing to pay good money to keep them on the down low.

So Revenge you have managed to rope me in for one more Sunday by choosing a cleverly well cast guest star. Guess who will be back for more? Yep, me, it's a no brainer.

Iconoclast: Nick Cave

20,000 DAYS ON EARTH
The Acclaimed Film About Iconic Musician NICK CAVE
On Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download on November 18th

Ever since someone introduced me to Nick Cave's and the Bad Seeds album "Tender Prey" I have been a fan. My favorite album by him? "Murder Ballads" which to me contains the best song Kylie Minogue ever sang "Where The Wild Roses Grow," I have posted the video for it in this piece. I am psyched for this to come out...T.G.I.F!

"Hypnotic and introspective... An intelligent and revealing look at one of rock's last true iconoclasts" -Entertainment Weekly

"An intense and innovative study of pioneering rock poet Nick Cave"
Variety

"Smart and deliriously strange... thrilling to behold"; 5 stars.
Time Out NY

"It's right up there with the best rock documentaries. That is, if you can call it a documentary."
San Francisco Chronicle

The adventurous life and creative process of Renaissance man of rock Nick Cave are revealed in the exhilarating 20,000 Days on Earth. The award-winning film, which has received a remarkable, near-perfect rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, comes to Blu-ray and DVD on November 18, 2014, from Drafthouse Films, in conjunction with Cinedigm (NASDAQ: CIDM). Both the Blu-ray and the DVD are loaded with extra features and have SRPs, respectively, of $29.23 and $24.99. The film will also be available on VOD & Digital Download day and date.

20,000 Days on Earth is an inventive, lyrical ode to creativity and an intimate examination of the artistic impulses of Australian-born musician and cultural icon Nick Cave. In their debut feature, directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard fuse drama and documentary, weaving a staged day in Cave's life with never-before-seen vérité observations of his creative cycle. It features those who have affected his life, including wry tales from the road shared with his regular collaborator, the multi-instrumentalist Warren Ellis; actor and friend Ray Winstone; and Kylie Minogue, who shared a duet with Cave in the breakout hit "Where the Wild Roses Grow." These voices from the past revisit Cave in daydream-like scenes as he sits behind the wheel, driving through his adopted hometown of Brighton, England.
                                               Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue

Neither an outright music documentary nor a concert film, 20,000 Days on Earth nevertheless contains electrifying performances. Audiences see a song grow from the tiniest of ideas to an epic performance at the Sydney Opera House. Cave also opens up to a psychoanalyst as he discusses how his early years continue to inform his work, and journeys through his memories via mementos from his personal archive. This category-defying film pushes the form into new territory, exploring universal themes about artistry and celebrating the transformative power of the creative spirit.
A writer and performer of emotionally intense and lyrically bold songs, Nick Cave has been making music for more than 40 years. He has written and published more than 250 songs as the lead singer of the Birthday Party, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Grinderman. He's also an acclaimed film score composer, screenwriter, novelist and occasional actor.

Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard have worked extensively with Cave on various projects over the past seven years and know him well. Cave says, "I've always liked their unorthodox approach to things and on a personal level we have always gotten on very well. I invited them into La Fabrique Studios to film some promotional footage for [the 2013 album] Push the Sky Away. As it turned out, in the end, they shot everything and the studio footage was so compelling we decided to expand the idea."

The film has received widespread acclaim from critics. Michael O'Sullivan of The Washington Post said, "For the uninitiated, it offers a demonstration of what is so mesmerizing about this performer, who is by, his own description, 'a kind of ostentatious bastard.' " Ray Pride of Newcity wrote, "This bold, unique gem is bright, funny, brooding, hopeful, momentarily visionary, a wounded beauty exploring the creative process in a fresh and oft-brilliant fashion." It's "a documentary clothed in the robes of a dream," praised Daniel Walber of Nonfics. Joe Gross of the Austin American-Statesman wrote, "Visual artists and first-time feature directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard have given [the film] a potent mix of the raw and the cooked."

A Drafthouse Films theatrical release, 20,000 Days on Earth was an Official Selection at numerous film festivals in 2014, including Sundance (where it won for Best Directing and Best Editing), Berlin, San Francisco, New Directors/New Films and the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival.

It's A "Mad Men" Party

Sing Along With: Mad Men
With the end of the final season of Mad Men drawing near and fan anticipation growing of how the series will end, did you ever wonder how the cast celebrated the taping of the final episode of the Emmy Award winning drama?

Drink excessively? Chain smoke until dawn? Smoke pot and have a Bacchanalian orgy? You know the way they do on the show.

Christina Hendricks recently gave Vulture the 411:

“We partied for about a week straight,” Hendricks spilled. “We’re all surprisingly into musicals,” she explained “There was a lot of singing of "Little Shop of Horrors," ‘Defying Gravity’ (from Wicked), and a little bit of "Frozen.” The secret is out now, the cast of Mad Men are musical geeks “I wish we were cooler.”

Thanks Christina for that bit of fun information, what a great way to move on from a great show, that although I am dying to know how it all ends, I will be sad to see it, the cast and Jon Hamm's bulge go.

Video: Kate Bush "Wild Man"

OK, this is not an official video, it was fan made and Kate's label approved it, thus, I am a fan so I am posting it. R U following me so far? Yeah? Awesome..!

Harkening back to my love of Kate is not hard to trace. I was in a drama group in college and was at a party for said group cut to, prententious class actress with bleached blonde hair and black lipstick and goth make-up, she takes a drag off of her cigarette: "Michael, have you ever heard of Kate Bush"? Me: "Uh, no."

Dragging dramatically again: "I think you would like her, you should really give her a listen". Well, pretentious drama classmate, thanks! I did listen and I liked her, make that love her, and I still do to this day! I can't wait for her "50 Words For Snow" album to drop on November 21st....in the meantime, here is the fan video for the first single "Wild Man"....
