Saturday Sinema: Crimson Peak

Go Goth, or Go Home...
From the imagination of Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water) comes Crimson Peak, a lavish, stunningly realised journey into the dark heart of Gothic romance... Beginning in Buffalo, New York, during the 1880s, Crimson Peak stars Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, Stoker) as Edith Cushing, an aspiring writer who is haunted by the death of her mother. Edith's falls in love with seductive stranger Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston, Avengers Assemble), who whisks her off to Allerdale Hall, his baronial, yet dilapidated English mansion built upon a mountain of blood-red clay. Here Edith meets Lucille (Jessica Chastain, Zero Dark Thirty), Thomas's sister who at times seems hostile and jealous. As Edith struggles to feel at home in the imposing residence, she gradually uncovers a horrendous family secret and encounters supernatural forces that will help her discover the terrible truth behind Crimson Peak. Boasting incredibly intricate and ornate production design and a rich visual style, del Toro's film is a grandiose, boldly baroque triumph of Gothic decadence, which expertly combines and contrasts the sublimely beautiful with the shockingly grotesque. Crimson Peak is presented here in sumptuous special packaging, with a wealth of extra features, affording unprecedented insight in to the making of this modern Gothic classic.

The Final Countdown

Giving Shhhh Finger Realness
The Pretty Little Liars
l-r Lucy Hale, Sasha Pieterse, Troian Bellasario, Ashley Benson & Shay Mitchell

"Got a secret, Can you keep it? Swear this one you’ll save, Better lock it, in your pocket, Taking this one to the grave...."

Can you believe tonight is the first of the last ten times we will ever hear the theme song to Pretty Little Liars again? Well OK, there are re-runs etc...it will be the last ten times we ever hear it with new episodes.

I remember when I first saw PLL I believe it was already in it's second season and I had been hearing so much about it that one night I turned it on out of curiosity, from that moment on I was hooked. Escapist entertainment at it's finest!

Fond memories of driving my then boyfriend crazy by insisting we catch up on the show when he was over are the best. There was also the time when I was going through a rough period and the show lifted my spirits then there was another time...well you get the picture.

One Happy "PLL" Fan
Me & Sasha Pieterse
While the show ending will be like losing an old friend who has always been there for you, the time for it to wrap itself up has definitely come.

So with fond memories and anticipation of seeing what will happen to my favorite "Liars" I am excited for the final countdown to the end of the show.

If any of you need me you know where to find me tonight at 8!

"Call Me Mrs. Efron Already"

Put A Ring On It
Simone Biles & Zac Efron
Dreams do come true! No, the byline does not refer to me, even though it is no secret I have a thing for Zac Efron, I certainly would not be telling you to call me his Mrs. More like "Call me Daddy, Zac."

No the title of "Mrs. Efron" belongs to four time Gold Medal winner at the Rio Summer
Olympics gymnast Simone Biles who copped to having a big ole crush on Zac

"He kissed me on the cheek just letting y'all know" Biles proclaimed on her Twitter account upon meeting her Prince.

I'll let it slide this time Simone since you are Gold and all, but next time you need to clear it with Zac's Daddy if his boy can come out and play.

It's Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!
l-r My Sister, Mom & Me
Hello peeps, and Happy Mother's Day! Today is the day specifically set aside to honor that special someone who you call Mom, I personally never use the word Mother because I use that word for other things.

Today I am honoring two women, my Mom and my Sister. While my Sister obviously isn't my Mom but she is an amazing Step Mom to my three awesome nieces. Also it is my wonderful siblings Birthday today as well.

Sue is the best Sister in the world. She is always there for me with her love and support and most importantly if I need to confide in someone she can keep a secret.

My Mom is always there for me as well. Her belief in me and the path I am on never falters. Of course we aren't always on the same page, but the love is unconditional.

The photo above was taken outside the Tides Tavern (in case you couldn't tell) in Gig Harbor, WA when I was visiting for Christmas after we all had lunch there. I remember it well. I had my first steak and brie sandwich, YUM!

Good Times! Miss you two, love you and I will see you again soon.

Happy Mother's Day Mom & Sue

Happy Birthday Sis, no I won't say how old you are <wink>

Beat It With Cara Delevingne

Cara "Beatbox" Delevingne
There's something about Cara that I find compelling...even though she is present and available it's like she always has a secret of epic proportions brewing just under her surface.

Making Ms. Delevingne a personal favorite of mine.

Well add one more thing to that list: Beatboxing. Yes, while promoting her movie Paper Towns on The Tonight Show, Cara revealed a whole new layer of herself and showed off a skill that the world at large did not know she had.

She impressed everyone including host Jimmy Fallon.

Watch your back Kevin "K.O." Olusola of Pentatonix, there's a new Beatboxer in town.

Hit the video after the jump!

You Are My Sweet Baby: Love Song For Jeffrey Dahmer

Dudley Saunders
Dudley Saunders latest is disturbing, haunting & beautiful....

Since nobody extrapolates on their own creations better than Dudley here is what he has to say about it:

Here is the seventh lyric video from IN THESE BOXES (and also the album THE EMERGENCY LANE).

The unusual thing is that I removed the song title for IN THESE BOXES, which made it more of a straightforward S&M love song (depending on how straightforward you feel an S&M love song can be). So it was an interesting bit of artistic re-purposing.

Here's the text from the performance, which nods lightly toward Dahmer without tipping into serial murder, keeping it in the sphere of perverse romance:

"This memory was murdered.  This life was a secret.  It did not require drugs to be released.  He was transformed, as a hero should be in a proper story.  He found happiness.  The happiness was so upsetting that much care was taken to blot out any memory of it.   To ravel the story so it’s pattern could not be seen.  But his happiness had been here, in that Detroit basement that was soundproof."

Prepare yourself and watch the video after the jump.

Kim Richards "Revenge" This Sunday

Watch Your Back Hamptons, It's Kim Richards!
Revenge is one of the most uneven, frustrating shows I have ever followed. Every season contains good episodes and bad ones, the week to week quality of the show is like a game of darts sometimes it hits sometimes, OK most of the time, it misses.

The last two weeks episodes have left me underwhelmed. Yet I continue to watch and there is added incentive this Sunday as one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kim Richards guest stars.

Richards is what drew me to watch RHOBH in the first place as she was a child star when I was growing up. She starred in one of my fave Disney films ever Escape to Witch Mountain. So there!

Obviously Revenge felt the need to call in a drama pro for some extra trouble and Kim is a perfect choice to do just that!

Richards will be playing Stephanie, a society lady and friend of Victoria's (Madeleine Stowe), who is a member of Nolan's (Gabriel Mann) Southampton Beach Club.

Will Stephanie will be carrying some secrets in her purse? Do you really need to ask? She and her friend Heather each have a secret or three and they're willing to pay good money to keep them on the down low.

So Revenge you have managed to rope me in for one more Sunday by choosing a cleverly well cast guest star. Guess who will be back for more? Yep, me, it's a no brainer.

Margaret Cho "Busks A Move"

Margaret Hitting The Streets
Photo: Todd V Wolfson
Margaret Cho is walking the streets to raise awareness for one of her hometown, San Francisco's more pressing problems: homelessness.
Margaret stepped out on Monday to begin what she says will be a daily, two-month commitment to busk on the streets of San Francisco to raise money for the city's vast homeless population
Armed with her guitar case, Cho hit the road and busked a move with a handwritten sign that says, "If you have, give; if you need, take (please remember your fellow man)."
"We have a small amplification system and big hearts," Cho said on Facebook over the weekend. "We will make videos and I have some secret amazing legit superstars who will come and sit in with us. The homeless problem in SF is out of control and this is the least we can do."

What street corner will Margaret work next? Find out with her daily updates on Twitter.

It's A "Mad Men" Party

Sing Along With: Mad Men
With the end of the final season of Mad Men drawing near and fan anticipation growing of how the series will end, did you ever wonder how the cast celebrated the taping of the final episode of the Emmy Award winning drama?

Drink excessively? Chain smoke until dawn? Smoke pot and have a Bacchanalian orgy? You know the way they do on the show.

Christina Hendricks recently gave Vulture the 411:

“We partied for about a week straight,” Hendricks spilled. “We’re all surprisingly into musicals,” she explained “There was a lot of singing of "Little Shop of Horrors," ‘Defying Gravity’ (from Wicked), and a little bit of "Frozen.” The secret is out now, the cast of Mad Men are musical geeks “I wish we were cooler.”

Thanks Christina for that bit of fun information, what a great way to move on from a great show, that although I am dying to know how it all ends, I will be sad to see it, the cast and Jon Hamm's bulge go.

MIDNIGHT RED LAUNCH  DEBUT SINGLE, “HELL YEAH”ON JUNE 19
PRODUCER RedOne UNLEASHES THE USA’S BEST KEPT SECRET WITH POP BAND MIDNIGHT RED
Description: Hell Yeah Final
The boys are dropping their new single "Hell Yeah" this coming Tuesday be on the lookout for my exclusive interview with band member, Colton Rudloff for the music site www.chorusandverse.com and of course an "Entertain Me" exclusive as well...It must be summertime...!

As the massive popularity of acts such as The Jackson 5New Kids on the BlockBoyz II MenBackstreet Boys and *NSYNC can attest, people can’t resist the simple pleasure of talented young guys singing together – and it doesn’t hurt if they’re not bad to look at either. Enter Midnight Red, a new group of exciting performers from across the country who are carrying on that legacy by bringing outstanding harmonies and electrifying dance moves to the pop landscape.

The buzz on Midnight Red was so strong that they were selected as the opening act for the New Kids on the Block/Backstreet Boys co-headlining tour last Summer based on the strength of their digital EP One Club At A Time on 2101 Records/Kings of L.A. Entertainment/Interscope Records.  After wowing audiences across America while on tour with NKOTBSB, as well as their own club dates, the guys are now gearing up for the national launch of their first single, “Hell Yeah” from their forthcoming full-length CD release.

Hell Yeah,” produced by acclaimed hit maker RedOne (Lady Gaga, Pitbull, Nicki Minaj) is an up-in-your-face electronic splash of pop with a driving club beat that will get you out on the dance floor. Arjanwrites.comsays "Hell Yeah!" is a hit-savvy tune by a promising new pop act that is, quite frankly, too irresistible to be denied.”

Hell Yeah” will be available on iTunes and all other digital outlets on June 19.

While it seems everyone is talking about the recent British Invasion - take note of the recent popularity of One Direction and The Wanted - RedOne unleashes the USA's best kept secret with Midnight Red's "Hell Yeah." The group also stands out by bringing a surplus of solid dance tracks to their live shows.  No matter where they perform, it's always their goal to make people want to get up and feel the beat, as evidenced by the amazing reception the group received at Universal City Walk last month.

Midnight Red is:

Joey Diggs Jr., 22, from Los Angeles, CA, who says his father, a singer who is best known as the voice behind Coca-Cola’s “Always” campaign jingle, taught him everything he knows. Says Joey; “I’m ready to show the world what it means to chase a dream and work hard to make that dream become reality.”

Thomas Augusto, 21from Arlington, TX, was called the “little entertainer because “my parents could never shut me up,” he says. A fan of Beyonce, Radiohead, and No Doubt, Thomas has spent years dreaming about being on a huge stage doing what he loves to do. “There were always pyrotechnics in my daydreams, so I know I am on the right track!” he says.

Eric Secharia, 20, from Burbank, CA, describes himself as a “hipster” whom you’ll never catch not smiling. Eric, who has been singing since age 6, and dancing since age 12, plays guitar and cites Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson as his main musical influences. “They are two people who truly stood out as performers that mastered their craft and used it to change the world,” he says.

Colton Rudloff, 23, from Buffalo, NY, was selected as Midnight Red’s fifth member after being discovered through videos he had posted on YouTube. A huge fan of American Idol, Colton credits the show for exposing him to many different genres of music. “I lean toward artists who have a passion for pure singing,” he says. “There’s no need for all the smoke and mirrors if you have a great voice.”

Anthony Ladao, 20, from Seattle, WA, is the “baby” of the group, and has been dancing since the age of 6 and singing since the age of 12. Seeing Usher perform at the MTV Video Music Awards first sparked his interest in dance and “from there it became my passion,” he says.

Midnight Red was formed in 2009 through the efforts of veteran A&R executive, and Kings of LA label founder, Pete Farmer and super producer RedOne, who brought the group to Interscope Records.
