Revival! l-r Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis & Sarah Jessica Parker
In case you haven't heard HBO Max is reviving Sex and the City for 10 episodes with the title And Just Like That...
While I do enjoy reruns of the original show I'm not really sure about this, considering the first SATC movie was merely OK, and the second movie was downright awful. Also Kim Cattrall will not be returning as Samantha, she was my favorite character on the show.
This is a "we shall wait and see" type of proposition. While I am not going to outright dismiss it, I am very skeptical moving forward.
Caution, is today's secret word...

When In Rome... The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
After a month of having endured repeat episodes with cast commentary, we have made it to Hump Day & Chill again with (finally) a brand new episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airing tonight, Yay! The reason for the month long gap? Well the 411 is because of the current pandemic they were behind on filming the confessionals. Which makes sense, because they would not be able to shoot them until after the show is completely edited and in the can as the women of BH don't really know what footage has been used until the final cut. So, the women are jet setting off to Rome soon, as the photo above shows. Lets cross our fingers that when in Rome they do as the Romans do. Which means be more of a lover than a fighter. I know wishful thinking, right?! Personally I am just glad that my Hump Day & Chill guilty pleasure is back, times are tough enough without having to endure repeat episodes with cast commentary. It's been a while since we have heard from singer/songwriter/actor Jay Jacobson. His last album "The Ride" was released in 2014. It produced an acclaimed animated video for the single "I Lived." Jay also starred in his own successful and acclaimed one man show "Mental Creatures" that he performed at The Lounge Theater in Hollywood. So where in the world has Jay been? Well you are about to find out!
MS: How's "The Ride" been since 2014? You've been pretty quiet since then.
JJ: Unfortunately, not by choice. I was nearing the end of recording my next CD, “Travelogue”, when I came down with a rare auto-immune disease. I’ve been on heavy medications, and couldn’t really function. I’m now in the process of reducing my medications, and starting to somewhat function again. The goal is to keep the disease in remission and get back to functioning normally. It’s been quite “a ride”, pun intended.
MS: Well you are back with a quite timely single "These Troubled Times" give some insight into the creation of it.
JJ: Almost all of my songs reflect what I’m experiencing as I go through my life. I can actually see my journey if I look at my CDs one by one. I came to a point, just before COVID, where I felt I needed to say something about the state of the world. I think just about everyone is scared or suffering to some degree, no matter what your political outlook. We’ve gotten so full of greed and anger, and so far from empathy and caring for one another. I felt the need to say something about it.
MS: I cried when I first heard it, while the whole song is great, these lyrics: "A nation stands in need Capitalism has turned to greed, We killed off the dream we had, And threw away the seed" really nailed it.
Hi Jay!
JJ: Thanks! The fact that you were moved is a huge compliment. I certainly hope the song inspires people to be kind, loving and generous. It seems there are definitely more of those qualities appearing, with the quarantines all over the world. I can tell you from being sick, something like that changes one’s perspective as to what’s important in life. And while there are some people who still haven’t gotten in touch with a “bigger” picture of life, it seems like a majority of the world has. This pandemic will definitely change the world and we have a chance to make it a better place. Hopefully, that is how this will play out.
MS: Any plans for a video?
JJ: I’m actually in the process of working on one now. I’m a bit slower at things than I normally am, so it will come out sometime after the song’s release.
MS: Spill the tea, what was it like singing back-up for Liza Minnelli?
JJ: First of all, it was a major thrill to sing with her. I saw her in concert several times in the 1980s and she would make the hairs on my arms stand on end. She is probably one of the greatest live performers of all time. As for working with her, she was always very nice and professional. One thing that surprised me was that she would be smoking while singing during rehearsals. It didn’t seem to affect her singing though, and in the end she delivered an amazing performance, as she always did.
MS: You did a one man musical show "Mental Creatures" that was very successful. Give some 411 on it.
JJ: “Mental Creatures” was definitely one of the highest points in my career and life. It started out as a way to combine my songs with my acting, and I started to write a show around some of my songs. At one point, I suddenly realized I had something to say, and form that point on, the show took on a life of its own. It took four years to write. It was a show about living life fully, no matter what is thrown at you. The degree we can feel happiness, pain, anger, love, and so on, is the degree to which we can be fulfilled. I played 8 characters (or nine?), with no costume changes, and only a chair on stage. I would change my voice and physicality with each character. There were three main characters: a young painter from the south with his first gallery show ever; a middle aged female window, who starts dating again for the first time in years; and an elderly man, moving into a retirement home. The show was narrated by a singer-songwriter. A huge compliment I would often get is that people expected the other characters to come out at the curtain call, forgetting that I played each character. I was shocked night after night, week after week, at the overwhelming reaction. After the show I would be told over and over by people how moved and inspired they were, and many would still be sobbing, and tried but couldn’t speak. It was a huge success, with rave reviews, and I learned a lot by doing that show. It kind of spoiled me as an actor, in that it was in something that had a lot of meaning for me, and I got to play many different characters through their breakdowns and breakthroughs. And I got to sing my songs and connect with an audience. It was magical.
"I Lived"
MS: Ever planning on resurrecting it again?
JJ: I keep getting asked that over and over, usually by people that saw it and want to see it again. I would love to do it again, so if any of your readers knows a theater looking for a one-man-show, definitely let me know! The show was taped, so I do have a record of it. I thought about putting segments on my website, but the sound and lighting aren’t particularly good. it was a filmed play after all.
MS: OK, I know you are a film lover. Which film do you wish you could have done a song for most?
JJ: A film that comes to mind immediately, is “Call Me By Your Name”. There was so much emotion at the end, a perfect set up for a great, emotional, beautiful song. And I did love what Sufjan Stevens came up with.
MS: What actress would you like to work with the most and why?
JJ: Definitely Meryl Streep. She is so present and so great at listening which is key to great acting. I think I’d learn a lot from her. Also Toni Collette, Jessica Lange or Saoirse Ronan.
MS: To be, or not to be?
JJ: That is the question. “To be” definitely! Life is filled with hardships, and “troubled times”, but there is so much beauty and love in the world too. Quality of life is determined by how we relate with what it presents us. Nothing ever stays the same and all things, good and bad, eventually pass. Life is a mixed bag, but it is definitely an adventure to be experienced.
MS: Let's do Thai Food again soon.
JJ: I’m totally down for that!!

Alright as many of you may, or perhaps not know I am a HUGE Pretty Little Liars fan! Thus you can only imagine my anticipation for the March 20th premiere of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists on Freeform. So rather than gush today I thought I would fan out and post some of the 411 we have on the spin off so far...Hey, it's my blog and I'll do what I want to. Here are some deets about the show: "The town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from its top-tier college to its overachieving residents, but nothing is as it appears to be; when the high-stakes environment pushes the residents to a breaking point, someone snaps and a murder occurs."
You knew she'd be back, you just weren't quite sure what form that would take. Well that question is answered this Tuesday January 8th @ 8 pm on MTV when Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club premieres. Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale...you know the one of the Notorious LL and her rise and fall from Hollywood grace? "Yeah" no one needs a rinse and repeat on that one, and if by some stretch you happen to be uninitiated put your fingers to the keyboard and Google. Here is the official 411 on Lindsay's latest venture into the spotlight: "Lindsay Lohan is expanding her business empire with the launch of Lohan Beach House in Mykonos, Greece; she is a no-nonsense boss while managing the club and its restaurant and needs her team to come together to help bring her vision to life." I read a review yesterday that in a nutshell said the show was loopy, all over the place and basically incoherent. Since we are talking Lindsay Lohan is that a bad thing??? In my mind it isn't. "Yes" I was a Lohan fan when she was killing it as an actress and frankly I wish she had take a different path with her career and life as she knocked it out of the park on the silver screen. Remember this woman held her own playing opposite Meryl Streep in A Prairie Home Companion. But alas it was not meant to be, thus after bearing witness to her whack LiLo Dance and attempted kidnapping of refugee children that ended in the ultimate smack down on the WWW I will keep watching this derailed wreck of a train and see what track it ends up on. "Everyday is like Sunday, Everyday is silent and grey" - Morrissey Well today is Sunday, but there ain't nothing silent and grey regarding what I am about to lay on you. I decided I have to repent for my lack of full frontal male nudity posting on my notorious Hump Day & Chill column this past week and give my minions what they crave. Thus I bring you mass quantities of male nether regions today in the form of season three of Channel 4's dating show Naked Attraction. For the uninitiated here is is the 411: "Anna Richardson presents a dating show that starts where some good dates might end: naked. Each week, hopeful singletons seek to choose a date from selection of six naked people, based solely on the power of naked attraction." While I am giving you more than a few studs to ogle via Tye Briggs Favorite Hunks & Other Things the one that caught my eye was lean, mean tattooed machine Chris in episode two, picture above with host Anna Richardson. Oh Chris what I would do to you, let me Schwing the ways! "Yes" that is correct tribe, it's time for my Sunday Schwing, bugger off I'm gonna get to it. Join me won't you at the NSFW link below....there are a few other stud muffins for you to choose from. Does Chris get your Schwing like he does mine? If not pick another dude, but Schwing, Schwing, Schwing it all out! https://favoritehunks.blogspot.com/2018/09/naked-attraction-series-three.html
Tom Connan is an artist whose work embodies all aspects of the human condition. His latest song and video "Charlie" is inspired by the Charlie Hebdo shooting in Paris. For the uninitiated here is the 411 on it: "Two gunmen armed with automatic rifles stormed the office of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, a target for Islamist terrorists since it printed cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in 2006 and 2011, and killed cartoonists and satirists whose names were called out as they were shot dead in turn."
It goes without saying that I had to hit Tom up to "Take 5" for all of you, as in five questions addressing his latest project. You've got this Tom...
MS: Why do you have an affinity with Charlie Hebdo?
TC: I don’t have any direct affinity with Charlie Hebdo, however when the terrorist attack against them happened in 2015, the world was deeply shocked. I was, too. On 9/11, I was a child so I wasn’t able to really understand what it meant. In 2015, I couldn’t believe haters had killed innocent journalists and caricaturists. I was still sleeping when my mum woke me up and yelled at me: ”they killed Charlie Hebdo!”. It is a symbol, as this is the first attack of many that happened since: Orlando, Barcelona, Manchester, Paris… Basically I had written the track “Charlie” a few days after the attack but I didn’t want to release it. But recently, I thought I had to.
Charlie (sick mix)
MS: Give me your take on the current state of democracy
TC: I have the impression some people under-estimate the crisis of democracy. Anti-Semitism is terribly strong, as well as homophobia and sexism. Sometimes I feel my mum grew up in a more peaceful time. I may be wrong. But I’m not that sure.
MS: You use skin in the video. You once told me how you love nudity, extrapolate
TC: For a long time I hated my body. Really. I was almost hiding myself with large clothes, as if I wanted to disappear. I feel better now, and when you feel better about who you are, you want to show it. Completely. It’s my own therapy.
MS: When you give a Rebel Yell, do you want more, more, more?
TC: I’m not sure I understand what you mean, but as far as “Charlie” is a rebel yell, yes, I believe it can reach the unconscious mind, which is my hidden goal. You can do much more with the unconscious than you can with the conscious. Don’t you think?
MS: Name your favorite song, other than yours at this moment
TC: was re-watching the old movie “Stepmom” starring Julia Roberts, and I heard that fabulous track “Ain’t no mountain high enough” from Marvin Gaye. Do you know any better song with the same kind of joy and energy? I don’t. It is brilliant. This is music. Other than that, I’m still listening to Jaden Smith’s Idol. Fucking good rap track. Bet you thought you'd never see a byline like this, ever, am I right? You know I am, well since the reality is that you have let me extrapolate. There's a new band walking the earth and they call themselves, you guessed it - Hot Pink Satan! Here is the 411 from the mouth of the Pink Lords of Hell: "Clea Cutthroat, Allinaline & James Lynch. Hot Pink Satan is a dark electronic adventure into the sparkling flames of a hot pink hell. Eating up beats with a fork n' knife."
Their first single & video H A N D dropped yesterday, here to tell us all about it is the Dark Mistress of Pink, Clea Cutthroat!
MS: Tell how HPS was born, was it bloody?
CC: HPS was born at a secret space station, that uses a Drag bar as a front in Pittsburgh. The birthing process involved a lot of blood, milk, and glitter...a lot of glitter. Glitter never leaves, and neither will Hot Pink Satan
MS: HPS is described as " a dark electronic adventure into the sparkling flames of a hot pink hell" extrapolate please
CC: Well, we like to think of HPS as an experience. We don't live in a box, and neither should anyone else. We're electronic and evil, but we'll still throw some glitter on ya, and buy you a cocktail in the morning.
MS: The first HPS single bears the ominous title HAND, should one be afraid?
CC: Haha! We're gonna leave you in suspense there. Hands are magical extremities that can do so many awesomely cruel and delicious things. I'll let you be the judge of that. But, I'm gonna plate my hand in gold and call it "baby"
Hand Job
By
Heather Jingles Meek
MS: Awesome make-up for the first single! I assume HPS's look will always be unique to each baby it drops?
CC: Thank you! Heather Jingles Meek did our makeup. (www.instagram.com/jinglesbitch) She is an incredible makeup artist based out of Pittsburgh. We have been dying to work with her and the timing was perfect! Yes, you can definitely expect that everything we release will be a new artistic expression...as every song is anyways. I really love being able to dive into the visuals and storytelling. You can be anything, do anything. Magic's in the makeup, and the vision beats deeply in our cold black hearts
MS: What does HPS like to do for fun?
CC: We love to drink with drag queens, play with punks, shop for eyeliner with goths, interrupt drum circles, and dine in dungeons.

They're Hot, They're Pink, They're Satan, Get Over It!
This just in from Entertain Me favorite and friend Naama Kates. The indie film she wrote, directed and starred in Sorceress is headed to a Film Festival in Russia, here is the 411 from Ms. Kates herself:
"Wheeee! Just got word "Sorceress" is an Official Selection of the White Nights Film Festival in Russia's amazing city of St. Petersburg, from April 17th-20th, just a couple weeks away!"
While your at it why don't you do yourself a favor and saunter over to Amazon and let Sorceress put a spell on you. If you love indie film like I do, you'll be glad you did.
With the final ten episodes of the series Pretty Little Liars set to premiere on April 18th, you are going to be seeing a few, or maybe a lot of posts regarding the series on here. Why? Because it is one of my favorite shows and it's my blog and I can write what I want to, so there! Even though I will miss the girls, it feels like it is time to stop "A"s tyranny after seven great seasons. Here we have two of it's stars Ashley Benson aka Hanna Marin and Shay Mitchell aka Emily Fields, engaging in a laugh while attending PaleyFest in Hollywood. For those of you not in the loop PaleyFest is an annual television festival hosted by the Paley Center in Los Angeles. Ashley and Shay were there to participate in, what else? A panel on what to expect from the final season of Pretty Little Liars. What secrets did they spill? Wouldn't you like to know...click on EW link below for the 411! http://ew.com/tv/2017/03/25/pretty-little-liars-paleyfest-season-7b/
Well this should be fun! Jane Fonda & Dolly Parton are going to present Lily Tomlin the 53rd SAG Lifetime Achievement Award at the what else? The 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 29th. OK, I don't get the 53 and 23 thing, but I do comprehend why the award is being presented on the SAG Award Show. It really doesn't matter anyway when it brings us 9 to 5 reunion, right?! "Yes" Fonda, Tomlin & Parton have remained close friends all these years since their classic work place comedy 9 to 5 was released December 19th 1980, the day after my Birthday, there's a piece of trivia I bet you didn't know before. I was taken to see it that weekend actually (I wasn't old enough to drive yet and of course you know my Mother wanted to see it too) What a fun movie it was and still is. This will make the SAG Awards a must see for me this year, well at least this part of the show, and I am sure this news has put a smile on all your collective faces, thus I have done my job. Later and have a Groovy Tuesday! For the 411 on the SAG Awards go to: www.sagawards.org/
