"Cruising"

The controversial thriller hits Blu-ray August 20th...!
Academy Award-winner William Friedkin (The Exorcist, The French Connection) directs Al Pacino as an undercover cop pitched into New York's seedy underbelly in Cruising - available for the first time on Blu-ray in a brand new director-approved transfer. New York is caught in the grip of a sadistic serial killer who is preying on the patrons of the city's underground bars. Captain Edelson (Paul Sorvino) tasks young rookie Steve Burns (Pacino) with infiltrating the S&M subculture to try and lure the killer out of the shadows - but as he immerses himself deeper and deeper into the underworld, Steve risks losing his own identity in the process. Taking the premise and title from reporter Gerald Walker's novel, Cruising was the subject of great controversy at the time of its release and remains a challenging and remarkable movie to this day, with Pacino's haunted lead performance as its magnetic centerpiece.

Monday Motivation

No Explanation Needed

It's raining hardcore today in Los Angeles thus it is the perfect day to hibernate and write. That's correct today's Monday Motivation is writing. In addition to writing this post today I also have to finish up a piece on my 50 lb wight loss for a Gay oriented magazine as well as get busy with some other endeavors of a personal nature.

"Yes" I have my own pet project that I am working on to please myself and F#ck it if no one else likes it. This line of thinking gave me a flashback to when Madonna unleashed her Sex book. Oh the controversy that it caused.

While it was mostly images, there was written passages by Madge herself. That described sexual fantasies, positions, fetishes, blah, blah, blah...

Is my pet project of a sexual nature you are asking? I'll plead the 5th, you will find out when I am ready to let the dogs out. That's right it was me who let the dogs out. Now you have the answer to that age old riddle.

Time to pull myself up by my jock and get moving, get your red hot Monday Motivation jones on people!

Alexander Skarsgard is a Drag

Just One Of The Girls
l-r Bel Powley, Alexander Skarsgard &
Director: Marielle Heller
Alexander Skarsgard who played the vampire most likely to do bad things to you, Eric Northman on HBO's True Blood recently appeared on the red carpet in drag of all things for the premiere of his movie: The Diary of a Teenage Girl.

Was he shooting an audition video for RuPaul's Drag Race? Showing support for one of his co-stars, drag performer Peaches Christ? No one knows for sure, but talk about attention getting!

The Diary of a Teenage Girl,  is based on Phoebe Gloeckner's graphic novel set in 1976, SkarsgĂ„rd plays Monroe, a 35-year-old man who is dating Chloe (Kristen Wiig) and later begins an affair with her 15-year-old daughter Minnie ( Bel Powley).

This may explain the choice of outfit, being as the subject matter will most likely stir up controversy, so why not add a little more fuel to the fire?

You go Skarsgard!

MVD Entertainment Group
From the beginning, LA punk band the CIRCLE JERKSwere rooted in controversy. Formed by ex members of Black Flag and Red Cross (now Redd Kross) in late 1979, the band came to encapsulate the image, sound and energy of California Hardcore Punk.

Filmmaker David Markey (1991: The Year Punk Broke, The Slog Movie) mixes in-depth interviews, rare live footage and historical perspective to illustrate the story of one of the most influential bands in the American underground.

"I was at many of these shows, and let me tell you, there wasn't a tighter band in Los Angeles at the time," said Markey. "Making this film reminded me just how truly great they were."

My Career as a Jerk follows the band from their early days and classic debut to navigating the independent label and touring scene of the 80s to the addictions, fights and injuries that forced their break up.

Of course the story doesn't quite end there...

Features interviews with members Keith Morris, Greg Hetson, Lucky Leher. Earl Liberty, Zander Schloss as well as J. Mascis (Dinosaur Jr), Henry Rollins (Black Flag), Brian Baker (Minor Threat, Bad Religion), and more.
