Hump Day & Chill

Nicolas Cage & Laura Dern
Wild At Heart

Lately I have been ruminating on the films of David Lynch. "Yes" DL's work has been very much on my mind of late. Why? I do not know, but hey it's there renting space in my head and I gladly accept it.

Thus today we are going to Hump Day & Chill to I think what may be my favorite Lynch film Wild At Heart starring Nicholas Cage & Laura Dern.

Mulholland Drive is pretty neck and neck with it, but this one has the edge for moi, for the simple reason that at it's "Heart" (pun intended) it is one of the best love stories ever to grace the silver screen.

While the film is bonkers in the way only David Lynch can do it, there is a romantic, honest quality to Cage & Dern's relationship that makes this movie tick.

So why not get comfy and Hump Day & Chill with Wild At Heart today, you know I'll be hitting the couch and doing just that this evening...

Oink!

Hey Minions, today is National Pig Day, Oink! Thus I thought I would put it out there that last year's Pig starring Nicholas Cage is the most overlooked film this awards season.

You heard me, and I'll say it again if you like. But I think in this case once is enough.

Even though it surely deserved Best Picture recognition the biggest faux paus is Nicholas Cage's overlooked performance in it...in one word: Amazing!

Cage has no problem reminding audiences that he is an Oscar Winner capable of incredible range and depth in this poignant story.

So there I said it.

Hey Academy, you blew this one!

Emmy Nominee: Margaret Cho

Margaret Cho as Kim Jong Il

Margaret Cho is "Like A Virgin" nominated for the very first time, for an Emmy that is on NBC's "30 Rock" for her dead on comedic portrayal as North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Il..... a favorite and friend to the blog here at "Entertain Me" it's about time Cho was nominated for her skills as a comedic actress and not just a comedian. Ms. Cho called in with this comment on her nomination....

"I'm so excited to have been nominated for an emmy, especially for 30 rock, which is an incredible show and also for playing a deranged and deceased world dictator who has divided the small country of my origin in two. That's the best part. I think that's what I'd call iron curtain irony" - Margaret Cho

Anyone who knows "The Cho" knows what a brilliant actress she can be, hey does anyone remember the great film "Face Off" directed by John Woo where she co-starred alongside John Travolta and Nicholas Cage as "Wanda"?

A toast to Margaret, here's hoping you win, Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl!
