Just Because I'm in the mood for something different, Just Because it's Friday & Just Because I am a big fan of Natalie Wood, here it is Natalie Wood being whimsical with something straight outta the citrus family! (Since the shot is Black & White I can't tell if it's an orange or a grapefruit, for practical reasons I'm going with orange)

For those of you who don't know me "Yes" Natalie Wood was my first movie star crush. I remember the moment it happened was seeing her in West Side Story for the first time. I was completely mesmerized by her beauty, charisma and talent. She was Maria!

Once I saw that I devoured everything thing she did. She was so heartbreaking in Splendor in the Grass. In Rebel Without A Cause she was teen angst incarnate. 

"Yes" I could go on, but I won't.

Natalie Wood & Sammy Davis Jr.

My first Movie Star crush was Natalie Wood straight outta West Side Story. Her portrayal of Maria left me spellbound. From that day forward I devoured everything about her. 

Since I am a huge fan I also follow her official Instagram account and this cooler than cool image of her and Sammy Davis Jr. appeared on it. 

Thus let's Hump Day & Chill old school Hollywood style with two of the coolest members of the club. Shall we call this when Natalie Met Sammy? Why not I say! Although I am sure this is not the first time they met judging by their body language in the photo. They look way too familiar with each other for it to be so.

Film Buff Friday: West Side Story

With the release today of Steven Spielberg's retelling of West Side Story I thought it would be fun to revisit the original 1961 film starring Natalie Wood & Richard Beymer Directed by Jerome Robbins & Robert Wise.

That means the film is four years older than me. So you are correct in assuming that I saw it at a stage in my life where I was older.

I first saw West Side Story in High School for a drama class I believe. I was blown away by it then, it was amazing to a younger me, still is. But the main takeaway I have from it is it was my first exposure to the late great Natalie Wood. Her performance moved me in ways I had never felt at the movies before and have rarely felt since.

"Yes" I had a lifelong crush on her after that and sought out other things she had done post seeing WSS.
