Happy Labor Day!

Someone's Feeling Homicidal

Juror number 8, remember her from the John Waters movie Serial Mom??? How dare she offend Serial Mom, who kills people BTW, by wearing white after Labor Day!!!

I for one never got the never wearing white after Labor Day thing because technically it means you could never wear white ever. Think about it, but no too much, everyday after Labor Day is until Labor Day the following year.

Told you it was a strange thing that I'm glad no one pays any mind to these days unless you're Beverly Sutphin I'm guessing.

Happy Labor Day Minions!!!

Happy Mother's Day

Serial Mom
Kathleen Turner

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there! I thought I'd get cheeky today by celebrating with one of my Top 3 favorite John Waters films Serial Mom.

Nobody does it better than Kathleen Turner as Beverly Sutphin in this classic 1994 Dark Comedy.

Here's the 411 on it for the uninitiated:

"Happy housewife Beverly Sutphin has a charmed life - a beautiful suburban home, a successful dentist husband, and two normal teenagers. However, when one of her son's teachers speaks disparagingly of the boy at a parent-teacher conference, Bev runs the instructor over in the school parking lot. Suddenly she has an insatiable taste for murder. Six homicides later, the cops get wise to her crimes"

Something to contemplate today...

Have a good one Minions!!!

Just Because...Margaret Qualley

Pretty In White
Margaret Qually
Just Because she slayed as Pussycat one of the members of the Manson Family in Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood, Just Because she is Andie MacDowell's daughter & Just Because it's Labor Day here is Margaret Qualley in Venice, Italy!!!

Check out Margaret, she's catching a ride on a water taxi, because when in Venice do what the Venetians do, naturally.

She's also wearing white on Labor Day. I think she gets a pass on that until tomorrow, correct? I really know nothing about the white Labor Day rule other than they say not to wear it after, thus I am guessing it doesn't apply to the actual day. So I assume that means that Margaret is marked safe from Serial Mom today.

Anyway Happy Labor Day and all that Jazz minions!

Film Buff Friday: Crimes Of Passion

OMG! I am a huge fan of Ken Russell and his visionary, off center brand of film making. This ranks among one of my favorite films of all time. I first saw it on video, the unrated version, brilliant!

Kathleen Turner gave one of the bravest, most original, brilliant performances ever by an actress of her stature at the time. Anthony Perkins was nothing less than amazing! Can you tell I am excited for July 12th?!?!?

Crimes Of Passion [Blu-ray + DVD] (July 12th)

She is watched. She is worshipped. And she must remain a mystery.

In the early eighties British enfant terrible Ken Russell travelled to America and placed his unorthodox imprint on a pair of US movies. The first was the Altered States, so out-there its screenwriter disowned it. The second was the equally crazy Crimes of Passion, starring Kathleen Turner (Body Heat, Serial Mom) at the height of her powers.

Fashion designer Joanna Crane (Turner) leads a double life. By night she is China Blue, a prostitute who's attracted the unwanted attention of two men. One is a sexually frustrated private detective hired by her employees. The other is psychopathic priest (played by Norman Bates himself, Anthony Perkins) in possession of a murderous sex toy.

With its outré screenplay by Barry Sandler and over the top score by Rick Wakeman, Crimes of Passion may just be the most outrageous Ken Russell film ever made - and that's quite some feat!
