And The Oscar Goes To...

Congratulations to first time Oscar Nominee Demi Moore for The Substance.

The Substance is my favorite film of 2024! Demi Moore's performance was also my favorite of this past year. So glad she, the film, director and screenplay received Oscar nominations.

With nominations in the other three key categories I'm predicting it's going to be Demi for the win!

Alice, Sweet Alice

On February 11, Arrow Video takes you to church with the cult classic Alice Sweet, Alice, which receives its global premiere on 4K UHD. Director Alfred Sole (Pandemonium) tapped a then-unknown Brooke Shields for her film debut in this bloody tale of religion and a dysfunctional family. The Limited Edition release features a brand new 4K restoration from the original camera negative in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and hours of special features.

The two Spages sisters are not getting along after their parents split. Karen (Brooke ShieldsPretty Baby) is the sweet younger sister who is always obedient for her recently divorced mother (Linda MillerOne Summer Love), and older sister Alice (Paula SheppardLiquid Sky) is not coping well in the aftermath of the divorce. She acts out by tormenting her younger sister, and scares Karen by wearing a yellow raincoat and a creepy translucent mask. The mother takes comfort in the nearby Catholic church and the guidance of Father Tom (Rudoph Willrich9 ½ Weeks). Right before Karen’s First Communion ceremony at the Catholic Church, something terrible happens. The suspect appears to be Alice in her raincoat and mask. Could she have done something this drastic to ruin her sister’s special day?

The special features include presentations of three versions via seamless branching: Communion (original), Alice, Sweet Alice (theatrical) and Holy Terror (re-release); a new audio commentary with Richard Harland Smith; a vintage audio commentary with co-writer/director Alfred Sole and editor M. Edward Salier; video interviews with Alfred Sole, composer Stephen Lawrence and actor Niles McMaster; a tour of the locations from the movie; deleted scenes; an image gallery; a reversible sleeve; an illustrated collector’s booklet; a TV spot; and trailer.

Walking In LA...

While I was running errands the other day in Hollywood, to what did my roving eyes did appear, Chucky & Tiffany the two most notorious killer dolls ever to unleash terror on the big screen!

They stared at me malevolently from the display in the window of the historic Hollywood Toys & Costumes. The store has been in Hollywood for 75 years and counting.

It's one of the great things about living in Los Angeles, you get to see all the great history that has been made here every day.

Especially Hollywood, it's very close to where I live and I head up to the Blvd at least once a month have lunch and walk around and take in everything it has to offer.

Hooray For Hollywood!

Michael's Musings

What? Me Worry?!
Michael Shinafelt

Remember the Grimace character from McDonald's back in the day? Well in case you don't that's him behind yours truly. Unlike him though I am actually grimacing, he's smiling what a happy guy.

Presently I am not, and I expect to grimace a lot for the next long four years...that's all.

Uh, if the January 6th riot was ANTIFA, BLM and FBI agents, why did Trump pardon them???

Do to personal reasons, I will be shining brightly & unapologetically for the foreseeable future, that's all

Yes! Demi Moore got an Academy Award nomination for The Substance, my favorite film and performance of the year!

Congratulations to amazing Zoe Saldana on her first Oscar Nomination for her turn in Emilia Perez

I'm still reeling over the passing of David Lynch I have so many great memories tied to him and his films. One of them was attending the Los Angeles premiere of Wild At Heart

FYI unattended children will be given a Red Bull and taught to swear

Me and Michelle Obama did the same thing this past Monday

Woman Crush of the Week - Bishop Mariann Budde. Thank you for speaking the truth and letting love rule!

A belated Birthday wish to Exorcist legend Linda Blair. While The Exorcist never scared me it is an excellent piece of filmmaking

Whether you liked Joker: Folie a Deaux or not Joaquin Phoenix does not deserve that Razzie nomination for worst actor, so there!

Hello tippy toes, now bring me a gin martini straight up two olives

Hump Day & Chill

Cameron Diaz
in
There's Something About Mary

There is nothing more "Chill" than Cameron Diaz in her heyday. Cameron was the cool broad you wanted crack open a beer and hang out with. She always came off like a lot of fun!

Another admirable quality about Ms. Diaz was how game she was to so anything in a movie. She was always completely fearless. With her return to Netflix in Back In Action co-starring Jamie Foxx I thought we should Hump Day & Chill to Cameron in There's Something About Mary.

Specifically the hair gel scene (if you know, you know) - I don't want to break it down on here in case you haven't seen the comedy because it's best experienced during the course of viewing the movie. But suffice it to say it was Diaz at her best and it was hilarious!!!

While I have yet to watch Back In Action I surely will because I am a Diaz stan.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to meet up with Cameron for a brewskie and good times!!!

Hump Day & Chill...!!!
