Lady Gaga took some time off from Taylor Kinney to indulge her sapphic side. She is an admitted bi-sexual after all and headed West to Palm Springs, CA for the Club Skirts pool party during Dinah Shore Weekend. I am sure about half of the women attending do not even know who Dinah Shore was at this point and juncture, but hey, any excuse to party, riiiiiiiiiight?! Gaga hung out and mingled where the girls are and paid a visit to Lindsay Lohan's ex Samantha Ronson who was the pool party DJ. From the photo above it's looks like a good time! I'm thinking I should attend next year...oh right no men allowed. Does this mean you have to check any strap-on's at the door too? Happy Monday and have a terrific week! PS Why the Fuck was sapphic spell checked and there was no word suggestions to replace it, that were remotely like it? Fuck never gets flagged as misspelled anymore and sapphic does? Just sayin'... But Does He Make You Breakfast In The Morning?
Zac Efron & Friend
And they called it Puppy Love. Whilst doing ADR (audio dialogue replacement) for Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, Zac Efron was getting sugar kisses from a puppy equally as cute as he is. He posted a video of himself and man's best friend on his Instagram saying to his new crush: "Oh, who loves ADR for Neighbors?" Oh, who loves ADR for Neighbors, Neighbors 2?" - the pup kept licking his face, oh to be that dog, woof! The sequel to, like duh, Neighbors is set for release May 20. Featuring an impressive comedic cast of returning rogues, consisting of Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Dave Franco, and Lisa Kudrow, plus freshmen such as Selena Gomez, and Chloe Grace Moretz. So how does the Basset Hound fit in? Hmmmmmmmm?!?! Go Instagram with Zac at: https://www.instagram.com/zacefron/?hl=en
“Smackdown” is the first new music from James in over 2 years and will be the lead single off of his forthcoming as-yet-untitled 3rd full length album release slated for this summer. “Smackdown” showcases James’ signature hard rock sound in a grand way with crunching guitar riffs and a truly epic drum beat. From the opening bass riff to the closing scream & all the debauchery in between, James Durbin is back & better than ever before
James has also been invited to perform on American Idol’s finale show Thursday, April 7. Other performers slated to return for the finale show include Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, David Cook and many other former IDOLS.
"I'm really looking forward to being a part of the Idol series Finale. It's really beginning to hit me that this whole thing is gonna be over. I am excited but sad too. I'm honored & grateful to share the end of this show with all my amazingly talented Idol family & lay it to rest together" said James.
Celebrating 35 years of Punk, the ladies of Shonen Knife drop their sixteenth studio album today titled Adventure! And "yes" I have been a fan all of those years. One of my favorite Knife songs is their cover of The Carpenters Top Of The World from the CD If I Were A Carpenter. Oh, a little FYI. Before you go crazy and shit like that for the Hello Kitty reference it is stated that the iconic pussy is one or their influences in their press release, Meow! With tracks bearing titles such as Rock-n-Roll T-Shirt, Cotton Candy Clouds & Wasabi, all of which I have heard. These women give their fans what they want and expect, a fun time!
Kurt Cobain invited them to open for Nirvana in the U.S., their first venture here. They also did a bomb ass ode to "Buttercup" voiced by my friend E.G. Daily for the Powerpuff Girls. I'm gonna give you some links below to check out. If you have yet to discover this powerful grrrrrrrrrrl band, well take the invite I am extending to you for an Adventure. Leave it to Kiefer Sutherland to come out with a song about whiskey, it seems so right.
Check out it and the video below.
Kiefer Sutherland opens his songwriting notebook and premieres the pedal-steeled, country/Americana-tinged “Not Enough Whiskey” video on Rolling Stone Country Monday. “Not Enough Whiskey,” available April 1 on iTunes, is the debut track from Sutherland’s upcoming Down In A Hole album set for release this summer. Sutherland will also appear as a presenter during the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards™ Sunday, April 3 at 8/7c on CBS. Sutherland, who co-wrote every track on the upcoming 11-track album Down In A Hole with producer Jude Cole, including “Not Enough Whiskey,” embarks on a nationwide 32-date tour April 14. See tour dates below. “This record is the closest thing I’ve ever had to a journal or diary. All of these songs are pulled from my own personal experiences. There is something very satisfying about being able to look back on my own life, good times and bad, and express those sentiments in music. As much as I have enjoyed the writing and recording process, I am experiencing great joy now being able to play these songs to a live audience, which was something I hadn’t counted on,” Sutherland said of the 11-track album. A track listing and release date will be announced soon. Sutherland, known for his starring role on the Fox series "24," also starred in movies like ‘Stand By Me’, ‘The Lost Boys’, ‘Young Guns’, Flatliners’, ‘A Few Good Men’, ‘A Time to Kill’, ‘Dark City’, ‘Melancholia’ and most recently, a western called ‘Forsaken’ and the upcoming ABC series “Designated Survivor.” Keep up with Sutherland on the road by visiting kiefersutherlandmusic.com or connect with Sutherland by following him on Twitter and Facebook. Scarlett Johansson & Her Alter Ego, Kaa The Jungle Book
Normally I don't get too juiced about re-dos of movies. Especially one of my favorites, of which Disney's animated version of The Jungle Book happens to be. This being said I am looking forward to the arrival of the "live action" version of it swinging into theaters this April 15th. The preview looks amazing!
Although I am not quite sure why it is being called "live action" as the only character who is not CGI is Neel Sethi as Mowgli the man cub. Oh well.
One of the things that literally hypnotizes me and Mowgli in the preview is images of Kaa the snake with a spot on vocal performance by Scarlett Johansson. This is one python that could definitely cast a spell on anyone and make them submit to their will.
It sends a chill up my spine when Scarlett hisses: "Trussst in meeee"
Proving that old adage about a "snake in the grass."
This is going to date me...one of my first cassette tapes was Janis Joplin's Greatest Hits. Which of course lead to Pearl and others. They don't make em' like they used to. I mean the rock stars, not the cassette tapes.
The critically acclaimed, box office smash Janis: Little Girl Blue is coming to DVD on May 6th viaBrooklyn-based film and TV distributor FilmRise.MVD Entertainment Group will distribute the film with exclusive, never-before-seen bonus features.
Directed and written by Academy Award®-nominated documentarian Amy Berg ("Deliver Us From Evil," "West of Memphis") and produced by Academy Award®-winner Alex Gibney ("Taxi to the Dark Side," "Going Clear"), Janis: Little Girl Blue is an intimate portrait of the iconic but troubled rock 'n' roll singer Janis Joplin. FilmRise released the film in theaters in Fall 2015 to rave reviews, and it wowed audiences in over 100 cities across the country with electrifying archival footage, exclusive interviews with friends and family, and rare personal letters from the iconic rocker herself. The film features musicians Pink, Kris Kristofferson, Melissa Etheridge, Juliette Lewis, and Bob Weir, TV presenter Dick Cavett, producer Clive Davis, counterculture filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker, and more.
The DVD will include bonus features such as an a capella performance from Janis's first band, Big Brother and the Holding Company; footage from Janis's posthumous Walk of Fame ceremony; a fascinating look at Janis's early venues, The Avalon and the Fillmore; and a rare interview with Chan Marshall aka Cat Power, who narrates Janis's letters in the film.
Janis Joplin is one of the most revered singers of all time, a tragic and misunderstood figure who thrilled millions of listeners and blazed new creative trails before her untimely death in 1970 at age 27. Janis: Little Girl Blue examines her story in-depth for the first time on film, presenting an insightful look at this complicated, driven, often beleaguered artist with rare personal and performance footage and interviews with friends and family. The Joplin family provided unfettered access to their vaults for the first time, through which Berg unearthed previously unreleased letters, photos, audio and footage of Joplin. The singer's own words tell much of her story through a series of letters she wrote to her parents over the years, never before seen by the public (read by Cat Power). Joplin was a powerhouse when she sang, and her surprising rise and sudden demise changed music forever.
Janis: Little Girl Blue premiered at the 2015 Venice Film Festival, and screened at the Toronto and London Film Festivals, as well as the prestigious DOC NYC. The film opened in theaters in November 2015.
