Palm Springs

Palm Springs like any other town is creepy this time of year and the DTPS famous retro vibe restaurant Lulu is no exception.

I went there like a virgin for the very first time the other day and had pretty standard fare a cheeseburger with fries. I also had a not so standard fare adult beverage a Blood Orange Margarita (blood is the talk of the season) which was delicious!

Of course they had their Halloween finest out. I opted to take the photo op of the entrance to the establishment.

Give a shake rattle and roll for Mr. Skull and his not so Eensy Weensy hairy spider buddy and only 10 more days until Halloween Minions!!!

Freaky Friday

Saw Machete!
Jason Vorhees

Welcome to Freaky Friday Halloween style! Who better to represent than the poster boy for Freaky Fridays Jason Vorhees, let's give it up for Jason...Woot!

Jason has decided to take a pre-kill selfie, I'm guessing the post ones would get blood all over the camera lens so they would not take.

Some unlucky camper (most likely a topless female one) is going to get a machete to the face in the near future.

Well Mr. Vorhees never misses and his aim is true, so watch out campers he's coming for you!

Get your freak on!

Only 11 days until Halloween...Ki Ki Ki, Ma Ma Ma

Michael's Musings

Michael Shinafelt

Hello and Happy 12 Days until Halloween!!! This year has been a great Spooky Season thus far and I am excited for the High Holy Day to arrive!

No one is going to dampen my anticipation, especially you Satan!!! Moving on...

Binged The Fall Of The House Of Usher on Netflix. Loved it! It was darkly funny, appropriately grotesque, creepy AF and completely off the wall.

A lot of people have the wrong idea about me and honestly I have no desire to clear that sh!t up.

Hush little baby, don't say a word, never mind the noise you heard. It's just the beast under your bed, in your closet, in your head...

I find you repugnant but I must enter into small talk with you due to social conditioning

Litter clump cookies, discuss

Dear Jada Pinkett Smith, literally no one cares

For Halloween I'm opening the It's Too Late Petting Zoo, think about it, but not too much

He has his Father's eyes, that's all

Woman Crush of the Week - Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse on True Blood. One of my favorite shows ever!

For the sake of your mental health take mixed signals as a hard "No"

Groom your children to become amphibians and teach them about frogs, the more you know

Life's a witch and then you fly, boo!

Heading to Joshua Tree today, I love the desert

Sometimes you've just gotta say...

I say many things, check them out here -

Hump Day & Chill

With a scant thirteen days left until Halloween we shall hereby Hump Day & Chill to the this photo above.

"Yes" Minions it's the Spooky Edition of To Catch A Predator!

Looks to me like the Predator is caught, cornered and ready to be delivered to the fate that awaits them.

That's correct I said "them" that is the preferred pronoun of Predators as "they" have no distinguishing features that identify them as male or female.

So there you have it and there it is.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

Something lighter and non spooky today. It's the Classic Movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes starring Jane Russell and my personal favorite Marilyn Monroe.

It's the musical comedy that made Monroe a star and then some.

Thus let us not dilly dally and check in with the expert on such things my buddy Jay Jacobson straight outta his Classic Movie Blog!

Jay always has the in depth 411 and behind the scenes gossip on all that is cinema.

Reel down to the link and enjoy!

Monday Motivation

With Halloween quickly approaching I thought we should look to The Invisible Man for some Monday Motivation.

"Yes" heed the transparent one's advice start this week's countdown to Halloween with a "reign of terror" Why you might ask, because tis the season and it's fun!

Honestly a "reign of terror" is a cathartic thing and does a psyche good in these trying times. Now I am not suggesting something that will get you arrested or one that involves hurting anyone. More along the lines of some really great scary pranks.

Gotcha pranks in the multiples are a "reign of terror" for those easily scared and it's all in good spooky fun.

Thus have some fun and make it reign Minions!!!

Bitter End Of A Sweet Night

LA’s own Divine Horsemen are confirmed for their record release show at Zebulon on Thursday November 2 at 8pm in support of their new album Bitter End of a Sweet Night (In The Red, October 27). Tickets are available here.

Flood Magazine said of the new record, it has “… the familiarly rollicking and twang-heavy duet “Bitter End,” which parses decades of relationship experience into a single narrative.” While Tinnitist said, “ The L.A. roots-punk legends transfix you with a dark tale of romantic obsession.… of their fierce upcoming album Bitter End Of A Sweet Night.”

The new 16-track collection again features the band’s co-founding members, singers-songwriters Chris Desjardins (better known as Chris D.) and Julie Christensen, and the core members of the ferocious Hot Rise band — guitarist/co-writer Peter Andrus (a member of the group’s late-‘80s lineup), bassist Bobby Permanent and X’s nonpareil drummer DJ Bonebrake (who won’t be doing ‘live’ dates). The sound is filled out by Green On Red and Dream Syndicate keyboardist Chris Cacavas (who appeared on the 1984 Chris D./Divine Horsemen album Time Stands Still) and classically trained violinist Elizabeth Wilson. Desjardins produced the album. Johnny Ray, drummer for The Flesh Eaters in the 1998-2000 era, and featured on that band's 1999 album Ashes of Time, recently joined the Horsemen and will pound skins on the upcoming 'live' dates.

Previously, on March 29, 2022, Divine Horsemen played their first live show since 1987, at Zebulon. There will be more live dates in the late fall/early winter of 2023 following Bitter End of a Sweet Night’s debut.
