Emma Stone!

Kudos!
Emma Stone

OK, who says the Oscars are predictable (for the most part they are) didn't have John Cena presenting Best Costume Design naked on their Bingo Card.

They also more than likely didn't have the truly deserving Emma Stone walking off with Best Actress for Poor Things on it either, so there!

Let's face facts, we all thought Oscar was going to make history and give the gold to Lily Gladstone as the first Native American Woman to be nominated for one in Killlers of the Flower Moon.

TBH (I may catch some flack for not being PC here) she did not deserve it. While her work was nomination worthy it was nowhere near the level of what Ms. Stone did with her one of a kind creation of Bella Baxter.

Surprising as it may be who deserved to win in this category actually did win much to the shock and awe of the Oscar and viewing audience.

Anyway it's Monday and aren't you happy?!

Manatomy Awards Time!

 The 10th Annual Manatomy Awards

Jake Gyllenhaal Wins Lifetime Achievement Award

In celebration of this weekend’s Academy Awards, Mr. Man proudly presents the Manatomy Awards: the only award ceremony to recognize the past year’s naked male achievements in film and TV. Often referred to as the nude Oscars, the big winners at this year's Manatomy Awards include Saltburn star Barry Keoghan who wins “Best Full Frontal” and out actor Jonathan Bailey who takes home two awards for his revealing scenes in Fellow Travelers.  “Best Picture” is awarded to the gay erotic drama Passages starring Ben Whishaw and Franz Rogowski, and Jake Gyllenhaal wins the coveted “Lifetime Achievement Award” for his numerous nude roles over the past two decades.  He follows last year’s winner, Antonio Banderas.

“Male nudity in film and television has come a long way since our first Manatomy Awards back in 2014,” said Mr. Man Managing Editor Steven Attanasie. “The sheer number of male nude scenes affords us the opportunity to create more categories and celebrate the depth and breadth of celebrities going naked every year.”

Streaming titles once again dominate this year’s Manatomy Awards.  Paramount Plus wins the “Best TV Show” award for Fellow Travelers.  Netflix wins the “Best Gay Scene” award for Elite.  The gay streamer Dekkoo wins the “Best Nudecomer” category for its series Patterns that featured a shower scene with breakout actor Jack Armstrong.    Hulu and Amazon Prime share the “Most Bootylicious Year” prize.  It is awarded to Jon Hamm for his two back baring scenes in 2023: one in Amazon Prime’s Good Omens and the other in Hulu’s Fargo.

This year’s list is more diverse than ever before.  South Korean actor Steven Yeun wins “Best Nude Debut” for his scene in Netflix’s award season-favorite Beef.  Latino actors Felipe LondoñoMauricio Hénao, and Julián Cerati win recognition for their erotic make-out scene in Fake Profile and the Chinese-American trans actor and activist Leo Sheng is honored for his nudity in The L Word: Generation Q.

Several men over 50 take home awards this year, including C. Thomas Howell in Obliterated and Rob Lowe in Unstable, who won a joint award honoring The Outsiders co-stars for both going nude last year.  For the third year in a row, Murray Bartlett is honored with a Manatomy Award.  In 2022, he was awarded “Best Gay Scene” for The White Lotus.  In 2023, he won for his graphic romp in bed with Andrew Rannells in Welcome to Chippendales.  This year he wins for his intimate scene with Nick Offerman in The Last of Us.

"Be Nasty Day is celebrated every year on March 8. A fun, light-hearted holiday, this day isn’t meant to be taken seriously at all. Be Nasty Day is a great tongue-in-cheek way to celebrate being a little less polite."

Hump Day & Chill

The Women of Beverly Hills

OK, I'll admit it! I watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Hey, we all have guilty pleasures and tonight is Part II of the reunion. For those out of the loop this is when all the women have watched the current season that just aired and get together to discuss, relive and go for the jugular with one another.

Thus, in case you haven't guessed I (and anyone who cares to join me) am going to Hump Day & Chill to the women and them being reunited and see who calls out who for what transpired during their 13th season.

FYI Beverly Hills is the only Housewives show I actually watch, I didn't want to leave the impression I was a Houwewives connoisseur after all.

Yep, it's a self indulgent Hump Day & Chill and you know what?!

I've earned it!

The Outsider

I've always been Out. I've made Outsider art. I've had Outrageous sex.

I've lived in times when to be Out was to be a bit of an Outlaw.

I like being an Outlaw  - Phil Tarley

On March 12 on Vice TV's Sex Before The Internet, sexual stylist  Phil Tarley will be interviewed in an episode about legendary gay porn directors. Sex Before The Internet explores a world before Pornhub and Onlyfansanalog-style! Tarley is the only fellow of the American Film Institute ever inducted into the Gay Porn Hall of Fame as producer-director Phil St. John, his nom de porn.  "I’ve directed hundreds of men having sex, choreographing them for moving cameras, like a pas deux or pas de trois. "  In  Below The Belt (1986), starring Chad Douglas,  St.John staged the first double penetration ever photographed in gay porn. DP's went on to be adapted into the sexual practice and fantasy life of almost every gay man in America. Double penetration became St. John's leitmotif culminating in his "gay porn Oscar" for Double Delights.

In the early 90s, the times swirled with currents of unique queer cultural and political change. Tarley grabbed his camera and traveled around the country, documenting the queerest subcultures he could find. He used that footage to make, The Year of The Queer, which debuted at the American Film Institute Film Festival in 1992. Tarley is currently editing a feature-length political and cultural documentary of those wild times of earthshaking queer changes in our society. Somewhat of a revolutionary, Tarley/St. John has been an in-your-face- take no prisoners-- street activist his entire life. He's been on the frontlines shooting video, performing in guerilla theater, rioting, protesting, being arrested and jailed in actions with ACTUP, Queer Nation, The Gay Liberation Front, Students For a Democratic Society (SDS), and back in the day, The Cockettes and The Angels of Light, when Tarley was dragged-up and drugged up enough to get on stage.

"For me, politics, sex, travel, and adventure continue to be inseparable. Perhaps the wildest porn-making experience of my life was when I was in Puerto Rico shooting two tropical dick movies back-to-back in the jungles near San Juan. I couldn’t wait to write it up as a story.  I feel that now, the times are right to take my “novella” Diary of A Puerto Rican Porno and make it into a feature film. "

March 23 & March 24: New Orleans

Phil Tarley will be reading from his porno diary and from his just-completed autobiography at the Tennessee Williams, Saints, and Sinners Literary Festival at The Hotel Monteleone, in the Royal Dee Room, on March 23 at 10 AM and on March 24 at 1 PM.

Saints and Sinners, a program of the Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival, features LGBTQ+ writers, publishers, small presses, booksellers, promoters, and other literary professionals creating a community and network for the LGBTQ+ literary world.

Tarley/St. John is available for on-camera, phone, or print interviews. Contact him via email.

Phil Tarley, writer, filmmaker, curator, photographer, and critic has written for American Photo, LA Weekly, Wow Report, Fabrik, Advocate, Out, and other print and online publicationsExcerpts of his work-in-progress autobiography have been published in The Gay and Lesbian Literary Review. https://glreview.org/thirteen/   https://glreview.org/how-i-learned-to-grift/ Tarley's on-camera cultural commentary is featured in four documentaries, which include Circus of Books on Netflix and Seed Money: The Chuck Holmes Story on Amazon Prime. MARCH 12: WATCH PHIL TARLEY ON VICE TV'S SEX BEFORE THE INTERNET
