Hang In There Baby!

Michael Keaton & KIm Basinger

It's merely the second Friday of 2024 and I don't know about you but I feel it's been way more dramatic than needed. Thus to all of you out there experiencing this "Hang In There Baby!" you know calmer times are ahead, they always are.

This behind the scenes shot of Michael Keaton and Kim Basinger dangling from wires on the set of Batman illustrates exactly how I, and I'm sure many of you feel right here, right now.

Now this is the kind of "hanging in there" that puts the "D" in dramatic, for sure!

Another day of 2024 and I'm out there performing another high wire act...

Behind The Scenes

Batman
Tim Burton & Kim Basinger

Kim Basinger who portrayed Vicki Vale in one of the original Comic Book based blockbusters Batman posted this image on Instagram of Director Tim Burton, well directing her on the set.  Personally I love seeing what goes on behind the scenes before the cameras start rolling, it fascinates me.

She wrote what it was like working with him on it, oh and it was also to wish him a Happy Birthday! Here in here own word is what Ms. Basinger wrote:

Many know Tim as a creative genius… a master artist… and they are right, of course! But what I always remember are his drawings… how they inspired and amused me…

When I’d find myself sitting next to him on set, I would look over and see him doodling in his script… At that moment, I felt like a small child… walking into an amusement park like none that has ever been created…. Magical… Fantastical… I could feel my eyes growing bigger as I watched him draw these characters in his script…

Being on set with him was a lot like watching one of his own characters... As we exchanged ideas and I got direction from him……. Was like a surrealistic journey in so many ways… Too many to mention here! One of the most meaningful and fun films of my life….. The memories will stay with me forever.

Just another boy from Burbank? I don’t think so! Wishing you the best birthday Tim… wherever you are… whatever you’re doing…. Much love ✨

Happy Saturday!

Hump Day & Chill

9 1/2 Weeks
Kim Basinger

For a few reasons Kima Basinger has been on my mind of late. Remember her? She was a HUGE star in the eighties and nineties. She had beauty and talent. Trust moi she was more than just a pretty face and has an Oscar for her portrayal of Lynn Bracken in LA Confidential to prove it.

Thus we are gonna Hump Day & Chill to Ms. Basinger, because it's my blog and I'll do what I want to, so there!

I follow Kim on Instagram and she recently liked a comment of mine regarding her work with Jeff Bridges in a terrific little film called The Door In The Floor (bear witness to it, I posted it here.)

Guessing you could say I am a fan. It got me thinking about seeing 9 1/2 Weeks which at the time was notorious because it dared to portray a masochistic love story. She was riveting as Elizabeth opposite Mickey Rourke's John.

Kim took risks. She was never demure in her choices. She is the poster person for "Go Big Or Go Home" - I miss her presence in films.

Fun Fact: She's the only reason I attempted to watch Fifty Shades Darker. If she had been the main attraction I could have actually endured it.

So let's give a Hump Day & Chill toast to Kim, shall we? You'd better believe it!

Film Buff Friday: My Stepmother Is An Alien

"Basinger proves here, as she did in 'Blind Date,' that she has a natural gift for slapstick... Aykroyd falls in love with her - not because she looks sexy, but because she makes him laugh. I had much the same reaction."

     —Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

He married a girl from out of town... Way out of town. Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters), Kim Basinger (The Nice Guys) and Jon Lovitz (Southland Tales) star in a fish-out-of-water comedy with a sci-fi twist that questions whether a romance between two star-crossed lovers who are literally worlds apart can ever work. When widowed astronomer Steve Mills (Aykroyd) inadvertently causes a gravitational disruption in deep space, a race of hyper-advanced alien lifeforms sends one of their own to investigate, disguised in the alluring human form of Celeste (Basinger). Tasked with seducing the lovelorn Steve in a bid to gain access to his scientific research, Celeste finds herself falling for the man she's been sent to swindle. But they've not counted on Steve's young daughter Jessie (Alyson Hannigan, TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer), who's none too thrilled by the prospect of a new mother - especially not one from another planet. Funny and touching in equal measure, My Stepmother is an Alien is an offbeat and at times surprisingly risqué comedy that confirms the adage that what unites us is far greater than what divides us... even if what divides us happens to be an entire galaxy.

Submit! Kim Basinger

I'm Going To Bridle You In And Make You Submit!
Kim Basinger

It has been a while since we have seen Kim Basinger in a high profile film project. Quite frankly I have missed seeing this ageless beauty who still turns heads at 62 on the silver screen.

When the casting people for Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey (duh!) were looking to cast "a beautiful older blonde who oozes sex appeal and seduction" as Christian Grey's business partner and former love interest who introduced him to the world of S&M, well who are you gonna call? Kim Basinger!

Translation for all you Fifty Shades fanatics, Kim is playing Elena Lincoln.

Destiny I say. After all Kim played a submissive art dealer in the S&M themed 9 1/2 Weeks to Mickey Rourke's dominant.

Well now she gets to have the upper hand in Fifty Shades Darker.

Take us to your dungeon Mistress Kim

If I Were A Pig...

Father/Daughter Time
Alec & Ireland Baldwin

Once upon a time there was a "rude, thoughtless little pig" as the story goes some eight years ago when Alec Baldwin left a message ranting at his model daughter Ireland Baldwin on her phone.

It was during an intense custody battle between Alec and his ex-wife Kim Basinger and was leaked to the press.

So Ireland and her Dad took to Instagram and posted this poking fun at the incident. The back story is Ireland missed one of her scheduled calls from dear old Dad because she did not have her phone on her person at the time and out of the frustration the custody battle was causing him, it triggered the rant.

Ireland captioned the photo: "If I were a pig...I would be rude and thoughtless of course!"

This made me laugh when I saw it, hope it puts some levity in your Monday!
