Michael's Musings

Is It Safe?
Michael Shinafelt
Last night like all good horror fans should, I watched the premiere of American Horror Story: 1984. It's off to a great start, every 80's slasher film cliche is intact and used. I especially like the references to other slasher epics in it...i.e. hitting a man in the middle of the road on the way to the summer camp (I Know What You Did Last Summer) The mental patients all escaped and roaming the grounds of the asylum (Halloween) or the pretty much exact replica of Camp Crystal Lake from Friday the 13th now christened Camp Redwood.

Hopefully the premiere continues to deliver on it's promise...

Words of Wisdom: Do not waste my tea!

Do you move your eyes when you eat and then moan?

Friends don't let friends bang girls at animal shelters because they want them to

Do you want to be a notorious homosexual when you grow up?

Although I know it's stuffing, who can resist a hung guy with a pornstache? I bring you Matthew Morrison in American Horror Story: 1984!!!

Pretty Little Liars Shay Mitchell celebrated her baby shower with, drum roll please, strippers! You go girl!

Is there anyone out there who gets excited over eating breakfast? Asking for a friend.

She used to be a Nun, she taught Catholic School after all

Woman Crush of the Week - Billie Lourd as Montana Duke on AHS: 1984

Retweet instead of bossing me around

"Hot new trend alert: people acting like dicks then calling their behavior "self-care" - Whitney Cummings

A smile and some ruffled sleeves do not say "jobs for everyone"

If the only way we could survive was for you to cut our your tongue, I'll do it for you

Do you think Melania Trump is any good at charades?!

Inspiring: Selma Blair

White After Labor Day
Selma Blair
Catching Selma Blair out and about and all smiles at the Farmer's Market in Los Angeles made me feel inspired, not to mention I smiled along with her.

Selma who starred in two of my favorite movies Cruel Intentions & The Sweetest Thing as you may or may not know has Multiple Sclerosis. While I am not in as a tough predicament as Selma I have been basically out of commission for two months and it is coming to an end, soon.

One of the things that always inspired me when I was feeling a little down was checking out Selma's posts on her Instagram page. "Yes" I follow her on there and you should too.

No matter what kind of a day she is having Ms. Blair always manages to find the humor, hope & love in every situation that is thrown at her by this terrible affliction. Her daily posts really put things in perspective. Not only is she an inspiration to others with MS, she is an inspiration to all of us to live our best lives.

Selma has set that bar really high, thus your mission today is to grab life by the ______ the blank is yours to fill in, and not let go!!!

Monday Motivation

Mimic This!
For this week's Monday Motivation I thought I would try this thing that is happening on Instagram called Mimic Monday where you post a photo of someone of yourself making a silly face for others to mimic and tag you in to show they have done it too.

"No" I'm not going to participate, and you don't have to either honestly. I simply thought it would be a fun thing to kick off the week, you know some levity. Thus I bring you Entertain Me's inaugural Mimic Monday poster stud Christian Bale

That's correct minions I said Christian is a stud, and well, he is. Even when he is making a silly, hard to replicate face for you to mimic he still is hot, hot, hot IMHO.

So get your Monday Motivation on and "Bend It Like Bale" if you can't mimic this, then go where there is no path and leave a trail with your own face for others to imitate. Or simply sit this one out.

In other words whatever path you so choose "Just Do It!"

Fright Fest

Tree Hugger
Michael Shinafelt
Last night I was V.I.P. at the opening of Magic Mountain's annual Fright Fest. As you all know I love me some Halloween, it's my favorite time of the year 😈

Thus last night meant in addition to the roller coasters there were, drum roll please...Halloween Mazes! "Yes" this is one of the few of my favorite things. My personal choice for best maze? Red's Revenge a gruesome take on the Little Red Riding Hood tale. What's that? "Yes" the Evil Wolf (trust me he was more than Big & Bad in this telling of the tale) caught me off guard and made me jump, once, and only once, I can't emphasize that enough. About last night, here are some pics...Boo! 😱

Feel the burn... 🔥🔥🔥
Picking up right where Hellraiser left off, Hellbound: Hellraiser II expands upon the terrifying universe created in Clive Barker's original film - taking the story into the very depths of Hell itself. But her torments are far from over - the chief doctor at the institute is determined to unleash the powers of Hell to achieve his own twisted ends.  “When we got back together last year, we never dreamed we would end up where we are today. We had such good times with BBMAK, from touring with *NSYNC to performing on The Tonight Show to being a part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and we thought  maybe that was enough. But when we got together again, the magic was still there, so much so that we started writing music again like not a moment had passed. The result is Powerstation, which is coming out in October and we literally can’t wait for you to hear it. We’ve been absolutely blown away by the love, support and excitement from everyone who has come to see us at our shows or written to us online to tell us how much it means to you that we’re together again.” Christian, Mark & Ste

The multi-platinum selling English pop group has sold more than three million albums to date and had hit singles worldwide between 1999 and 2003, when they disbanded.
Best known for their self-penned infectious guitar driven hits “Back Here,” “Out of My Heart“ and “The Ghost of You and Me,” BBMAK was one of the few bands from that genre to play their own instruments.  Billboard Magazine named “Back Here” the 9th Greatest Boy Band Song of All Time.
