On Saturday's We Wear Pink...

Getting Into Her Groove
Tiffany Haddish

"Yes" I know in Mean Girls it's Wednesday they wear pink, but today is Saturday. It's today I came across this paparazzi photo of Tiffany Haddish out on the town with pink hair and it is giving me life, so there!

Remember when Tiffany shaved her head bald at the beginning of the Pandemic? Well her hair has obviously grown out and now it is pink.

Gotta say I am loving her latest look, not too many peeps could pull of pink hair and Haddish does it with her usual flair. (hair/flair I made a rhyme, did you catch it Minions?)

Not to mention it, like pretty much everything she does puts a smile on your face. Hey get those good vibes anyway you can...

A Ghost Waits

On May 4th, Arrow Video will release
Adam Stovall's A Ghost Waits, a remarkable supernatural comedy romance which can best be described as Beetlejuice meets Ghost. Beautifully shot in gorgeous black-and-white, this indie film tells the story of a handyman, a haunted house, and the ghost he falls in love with (an absolutely brilliant performance from headliner MacLeod Andrews, star of The Siren).

An ingeniously unique and unpredictable combo of horror, humor and heart, A Ghost Waits is a DIY labor of love years in the making from first-time writer/director Adam Stovall and producer/star MacLeod Andrews. Tasked with renovating a neglected rental home, handyman Jack (MacLeod Andrews, They Look Like PeopleDoctor Sleep) quickly finds out why the tenants keep leaving in droves - this house is haunted. The ghost in question is Muriel (Natalie Walker), who is employed from beyond the veil to keep the home vacant.

Against the odds, Jack and Muriel find they have a lot in common... pulse notwithstanding. Having found a kindred spirit in an otherwise lonely existence, they must fight for their newfound affection as pressure mounts for them each to fulfill their "cross-purposes".

From its opening spectral assault to its achingly poignant conclusion, A Ghost Waits has shocked and surprised audiences around the world via the festival circuit... FrightFest,
Screamfest, Ramaskrik, Dead and SudBuried, Nevermore, and Popcorn Frights just to name a few.

Famed critic Kim Newman declared the film to be "one of the strongest first features of recent years," and Leslie Felperin of The Guardian gave it 4 stars and said it was "chock full of delightful narrative surprises, imaginative genre tweaks, and warming performances from its two leads."

Michael's Musings

Nothing Shocking
Michael Shinafelt

"If everybody likes you, you're pretty dull" - Bette Davis

This quote came up as something I posted to Facebook six years ago. It made me wonder what my exact frame of mind was then that prompted me to post it. It's not that it isn't a great quote or unworthy of attention in general, but you know there had to be something that motivated me to post it. Yeah, I am not really random about those type of things and you shouldn't be either. Time to move forward, never straight...

Colton Underwood came out as gay, while I admit to not knowing who he was prior to this announcement, good for him!!!

"Grizzly"

''GRIZZLY RULES HARDCORE... A JAWS rip-off in the absolutely best way. It's got gore, plenty of tension and a great Christopher George performance.''

     —Bloody Disgusting

Less than a year after the release of Steven Spielberg's shark blockbuster, director William Girdler (DAY OF THE ANIMALS) and infamous distributor Film Ventures International (GREAT WHITE) brazenly unleashed their own 'JAWS with claws' sensation that would become one of the most successful independent horror films in history. Christopher George (PIECES), Andrew Prine (BARN OF THE NAKED DEAD) and Richard Jaeckel (THE DARK) star in this "bloody, sexy and immortal trash classic" (Mondo Digital) about an 18-foot-tall ursus arctos horribilis on a carnivorous rampage through a state park full of campers, and the ranger, chopper pilot and naturalist who must stop it. GRIZZLY now roars with a 2k scan from the internegative plus Special Features produced exclusively for this edition.

Flying High

Whatever Blows Your Dress Up
Anna Kendrick

This week I'm gonna be like Anna Kendrick's dress, flying high! That's correct Minions, I am finally laser focused on losing that Pandemic 25 as I like to refer to my extra weight gain as. I am in the zone and I'm gonna do it!!!

Anna's dress is a symbol for the energy that I have and will put into this endeavor. While I am sure that wasn't her intent when she struck a pose in her BAFTA awards gown that she attended virtually from her home in Los Angeles, it works visually on that level for yours truly. That's all that really matters when one is inspired by something, they need to run with it.

Thus you all now have a mission to fulfill, find a visual that inspires you to work on whatever goal you set for yourself this week.

If I can do it anyone can!

Ashley Park Wants You To "STAY"

Ashley Park

Actress, Producer, Athlete, Model, Miss Asia USA. Is there anything Ashley Park has not done? I have the pleasure of knowing Ashley personally. I made her acquaintance in Spin Class at Gold's Gym Hollywood. She's here to speak about her current creative endeavor STAY - Do you like scary movies? Read on Minions!

MS:  Hi Ashley, how did you become an independent film producer?

AP: I came to LA to pursue acting and have been fortunate to appear in TV shows like Rosewood and Days of Our Lives. It wasn’t until I became involved with a film called Surviving Theater 9 that I assumed a producer’s role. ST9 dealt with the issue of domestic gun violence and was produced with a well-known cast. That experience ultimately motivated me to produce a smaller project with the goal of learning all aspects of filmmaking. My first micro-budget film is called STAY.

MS: Why did you choose the paranormal horror genre for your first film?

AP: I wanted to produce a very contained drama with limited locations and a psychological twist. STAY is about a fashion model who pursues her dream job while taking her YouTube audience along for the ride. It’s a cautionary tale of ambition gone wrong, and it blends the terror of a film like Paranormal Activity with the allure of America’s Next Top Model

MS: What makes fashion a fertile ground for a horror movie?

AP: There is a thin line between what is fashionable and what is horrific. The beauty business is a high stakes game that exploits certain vulnerabilities in people. That angle was our gateway to the paranormal elements in the film.

MS: You are a former Miss Asia USA, did your experience with pageants inspire the story?

AP: Being involved with pageants was a wonderful experience, but like anything presentational, there is a dark side. I’m sure on a subconscious level, I was dreaming up a story that combined beauty and horror!

MS: The cast of STAY includes Dre Davis from Pretty Little LiarsPLL is one of my favorite shows and I wonder how much you knew about the series before casting Dre as your best friend?

AP: The role of Mia was the last to be cast in the film. I was aware of Pretty Little Liars but it was Dre’s fantastic look and honest approach to the character that we liked. When you have a low-tech movie with actors crawling around in the dark, it’s important that they are visually distinguishable from each other. Nobody is going to confuse me with Dre!

MS: What can you tell us about your new company Ghost Machine Pictures?

AP: I formed Ghost Machine with my producing partner and Emmy Award-winning writer, Brandon Walker. This new enterprise focuses on the production and distribution of independent horror films with a supernatural component.

MS: What makes the company unique?

AP: We take a no-excuses approach to filmmaking. Instead of waiting for the perfect time to make a film, we consider the things we already have... a smartphone, an interesting location... and build a movie around that. Making any kind of film is hard, but making one with no budget meant doing nearly everything ourselves. On STAY, we wrote and shot the picture, then learned how to edit and do the post-production work. It was a crazy experience and we committed to fixing most problems on the fly.

MS: What can audiences expect from STAY?

AP: By tweaking the found footage style, we have presented a video diary gone very, very wrong. I hope our small movie delivers some big scares!

MS: Where can we see STAY?

AP: STAY is available with Amazon Prime and is free to stream on GOSTBOX.com.
