Remember when Shania Twain was hot, hot, hot with the multi-platinum selling album "Come On Over?"
Not only did it sell 20 million copies (Dr. Evil would have been so proud) on CD. Yes people actually used to buy those too.
It was actually one of my favorite discs, being a music whore I had many favorites. Time to check out this blast from the Shania past!
The Discovery Of Eilleen Twain
CD / DVD combo pack available on February 11
Featuring early footage and songs from Shania Twain,
when she was still struggling artist Eilleen Twain.
Eilleen Twain got her first break in the late 80s in Viva Vegas, a legendary Vegas style resort show produced by Brian Ayers at Deerhurst Inn Resort in Ontario, Canada.
Vegas North brings revealing interviews with former cast members and music veterans of that era, taking you back to Eilleen's roots along with footage of her heartfelt renditions of "Somewhere Out There" and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow."
The Bonus CD, Eilleen Twain: Beginnings 1989-1990 features ten re-mastered songs Shania's early career. The tracks are just what the title indicates: the beginnings - tunes intended to be used as demos to help draw attention to a young and struggling singer who would become a country diva known and loved around the world.
These are more rock, power pop, and adult contemporary than country, fitting into the late 80s just as they should have when they were recorded.
"It's my very first DVD, "Under The Ink". In the age of YouTube, many people are like, "You don't even need a DVD." But I think there is still something to having a whole concert presentation" - Eric Himan This is from my interview with Eric about his concert DVD "Under The Ink" for "Chorus and Verse", you can jump and read it here: http://www.chorusandverse.com/content.php?id=20120303A Well Mr. Himan is back with an amazing pop/rock/blues combo single "Red Hot Tears" from his album "Gracefully" - Yep, I used the A-Word, so you know I mean business!
Let me give it up for Eric so you can hear about it from him: "From my amazing backup singers (Tylisha Oliver and Tina Phillips) to my horn section (Ryan Tedder and Dave Johnson), it is not hard to hear "Red Hot Tears" is different from my previous work. I've always loved writing in different genres but this sound feels more like me than any other. The CD, Gracefully, and music video were both shot in my hometown of Tulsa, OK which is a first. Very proud of that." Thanks Eric! Check out the video for the song "Red Hot Tears" below...kick it!

Loving that the band has released a collective effort and you know I love me some Gwen Stefani, Gwen Stefani, Gwen Stefani.....

It’s
no surprise that musician, songwriter and melodic dude Killian Wells,
hails from New York City. Only the eclectic energy of a town like NYC
could produce a pop star whose music appeals to dance freaks, new
wavers and rockers alike.
Although
he struggled with anxiety and panic disorder since he was a boy,
Killian learned to masterfully harness that nervous energy into his
music.
Marked
as “someone to watch” by bloggers, critics and fans alike, the
buzz about Killian is growing. With his latest single and video
co-starring GloZell & featuring Nixon...Yep Killian “It's Like
That”!
MS:
So, let's talk about your music, I was watching the video for “It's
Like That” just before you called, would you be the bored employee
at the diner you portrayed? (laughs)
KW:
Probably not (laughs) I am kind of an overachiever. I'd probably be
running the diner within a month.
MS:
Well sometimes creative people tend to check out.
KW:
Yeah, I definitely go into my own little world sometimes, and taking
Klonopin for anxiety disorder doesn't help. (laughs) That helps me
check out. Society in general these days suffers from some form of
anxiety, there is always something to be anxious about, some people
just don't tolerate it well. I have anxiety disorder since I was
sixteen.
MS:
Tell me about your fascination with music, when did it start?
KW:
I've always been involved in the arts, I, funny enough I wanted to be
a movie director when I was a kid. That is one of my fascinations
with my music videos.
MS:
The video for “It's Like That” is great by the way.
KW:
I always have a hand in everything I do with my my music videos.
Which is really rare for a pop artist, most people have handlers who
are doing all the stuff for them. I've always wanted to be in
entertainment to some degree, I initially wanted to be a director,
then I wanted to get into acting, when I was twelve I met with New
York agents who said the problem was that I looked my age, they
wanted older who could play younger, well I said “Fuck This”. I
was so upset that I couldn't do something that I wanted to do because
of the way that I looked. Pop music was something that I have always
been into, I thought if all these other kids can do this, then why
can't I? I've always been very entrepreneurial driven, so I saw not
just as a talent, but as a business. So I started studying the music
business and seeing how I could do that, I did my first demo at the
age of fifteen...then I um, um...I lost my train of thought,
Klonopin! (laughs)
MS:
(laughs) Oooops!
KW:
Oh Yeah, now I remember I had a background in music, I used to sing
in a chorus at an old folks home. (laughs) And at five years old I
used to sing “Spoonful of Sugar” from “Mary Poppins” not gay
at all. (laughs)
MS:
One of my favorite quotes from the video of “It's Like That” that
I have to ask you is: If Lady Gaga said sesame seed buns were all the
rage this season, would you wear them?
KW:
Uh no. I actually wrote the line “Lady Gaga says sesame seed buns
are all the rage this season”.
MS:
It's very funny.
KW:
Thanks. It's funny because GloZell gets all the credit for it, everyone thinks it's her line because she says it. Little
does everyone know, I wrote the treatment for the video. (laughs)

Mel Carter, the man responsible for giving the song "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me," a place in pop history, began his career in Cincinnati at the age of four when his grandmother held him up to the microphone in a penny arcade recording booth.
It was 25 cents well-spent; the unpolished performance had an unmistakable element of raw talent in those grooves.
Well he kept grooving and it’s time to celebrate the Holidays even more because the hit maker is back!
What’s Mel’s latest release you may be asking yourself? His latest release bears the title “The Other Standards” and as you Mel fans out there know, this is what Mel does best. To the new comers in the house it’s time to introduce yourself to the man with the hit making touch and golden voice.
Stand outs include “Cry Me A River” which is one of this writers favorite songs evuh!
Another stand out is…well they all stand out, it’s Mel Carter people.
