Happy Birthday To Me...

Oh God! It's My Birthday!

Today is my Birthday, well Happy Birthday to me! Not in a Melissa Sue Anderson sort of way either (although that could be interesting!) -

Usually every year I have something profound to say,  or some hot take on something that I newly discovered about myself.

Not so much this year. We are still coming to terms as to what the new normal will be for all of us. How this world will function when the dust has settled.

Thus my Birthday Wish is for us all is to have our health, piece of mind and something that truly makes every one of us smile when we are down.

Wishes do some true and thus I decree that this is what you and I shall all have in 2022.

So be it, indeed!

Film Buff Friday: The Miracle Worker

Being it's the season of miracles I thought we should commemorate it with a movie about that very thing, The Miracle Worker.

This film is based on two real people Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan. Helen Keller is famous for her courage in overcoming her handicaps of being blind and deaf and achieving great things. The movie focuses on the time period where Anne Sullivan was employed by Helen's parents to teach her how to do those things.

Helen played by Patty Duke and Anne played by another Anne, Anne Bancroft both went on to win Academy Awards for their roles. Rightfully so their performances are honest and raw.

Wanna know more about this miracle? Click on the link  below to my buddy Jay Jacobson's Classic Movie Blog for his expert musings on it.

Remember miracles happen every day.

Michael's Musings

"I Just Want To Be Wonderful"
Michael Shinafelt

It's the most wonderful time of the year so why else would you want to be anything but, well, wonderful?!

Why not bend it like Marilyn Monroe and myself and be simply wonderful! That's it, that's this week's seasonal cheer, time to get it!!!

Those times when you eat toilet paper so it wipes on the way out, discuss

Say hello to my little friend, say goodbye to the trash bandit

Retweet if you're an alien sex fiend

Nurses are the back bone of American health

Only 9 more days until Christmas

Remember surviving 2021 is an accomplishment itself

When the hottest guy in the store comes and unlocks the lube for you

Did you know there's a new Nicholas Cage movie starring Nicholas Cage as Nicholas Cage, well now you do

Woman Crush of the Week - Kim Kardashian she failed the baby bar exam three time, but kept going and passed it the fourth. Inspirational!

And that's the story of how I grew a tail...

For the record, I never wanna go to space, I don't need that

I give good Gangsta Rap Face

Never have I ever had to get an urgent message to either of my parents through someone working for them

Heads Up! Saturday is my Birthday, the more you know...

Hump Day & Chill

Pinch Hitter
Whoopi Goldberg

With a scant 10 more days until Christmas I'd thought we would commemorate it with Whoopi Goldberg filling in for Santa Claus.

"Yes" Minions Whoopi as Lucy Collins in Call Me Claus found out just how hard Santa works when the guy in red chose her to fill his shoes.

I have never seen this, nor did I know it even existed until now. Thus I am going to have to seek it out now, it sounds fun!

So today we are going to Hump Day & Chill to visions of sugar plums dancing in our heads as we eagerly await the arrival of the big SC.

It's the season to be jolly for a reason.

Now go find yourself a place to Hump Day & Chill to those sugar plums.

Santa is on his way....

Monkeying Around

Monkey Shines
The Wicked Witch of the West
&
A Flying Monkey

In the midst of all the Holiday bustle let's take a moment to always remember the monkeys. Why? Because it is National Monkey Day that's why!

Tis it being the season and all I thought we should celebrate with monkeys of a whimsical nature. So here to represent is one of the winged monkeys from the classic The Wizard of Oz.

You know those little flying bastards who would swoop down and kidnap Dorothy and her friends in the movie, yeah those.

Here we see one conspiring over a crystal ball with HRH the Wicked Witch of the West.

What's more fun than a flying monkey? Why a barrel of monkeys! Remember those from when you were a kid? If you do then you are old.

Mic Drop!

Having A Ball

The Valley of the Balls
Michael Shinafelt

Yesterday I trekked to The Bloc DTLA (Downtown Los Angeles for the uninitiated) to see Being The Ricardos at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.

Upon my arrival there was copious amounts of Christmas decor, naturally.

Thus I took this selfie of yours truly among the valley of the balls. Yeah, I know I could use a shave bigly!

Little did I know yesterday would turn out to be the perfect day to be at the movies. About three quarters of the way through Being The Ricardos the film stops, the lights go up and the alarm goes off. The patrons in my theater and others filed out into the hallway.

One of the employees was there telling everyone not to leave it was a false alarm and everything would be up and running in five minutes. They then announced it over the PA system.

I was relieved because I would have been annoyed had I not been able to see the rest of the movie. And just like that in five minutes the Ricardos were back!

As the story of Lucy & Desi came to a close, the waiter brought around everyone's check (you can order food and drink at the Alamo Drafthouse in case you did not know) - I had Chips & Queso along with a Margarita on the rocks.

Accompanying the bill for our five minute faux paus earlier was a free pass to see another movie anytime at the theatre.

"Yes" it was the perfect day to go to the movies. What's that you say? Oh "yes" I did enjoy Being The Ricardos...The End
