Invaders From Mars

FROM OUT OF SPACE... CAME HORDES OF GREEN MONSTERS!!

In the early 1950s, Cold War tensions and the burgeoning space race created a heady mix of paranoia and unbridled creativity as filmmakers speculated as to the marvels - and horrors - that lay beyond the stars. Among those leading the charge, William Cameron Menzies' (Things to Come) Invaders from Mars terrified audiences upon its release in 1953 with its chilling vision of an insidious alien attack on small-town Americana.

On a dark and stormy night, a young boy, David McLean (Jimmy Hunt, Pitfall), observes what appears to be a flying saucer crash-landing in his town. Shortly thereafter, the grown-ups - including his own parents - begin acting decidedly strangely. Convinced there's a link between this epidemic of bizarre behavior and what he witnessed that night, David turns to local health official Dr. Blake (Helena Carter, Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye) for help. But can these two unlikely heroes, together with famed astronomer Dr. Kelston (Arthur Franz, The Caine Mutiny), withstand the might of a full-blown invasion from outer space?

A landmark in sci-fi cinema, Invaders from Mars inspired filmmakers as wide-ranging as Don Coscarelli (Phantasm), Brad Bird (The Iron Giant) and John Carpenter (The Thing). Now fully restored for its 70th anniversary, this trend-setting Atom Age classic unleashes its spine-tingling terror on a whole new generation of filmgoers in this brand new Blu-ray presentation remastered in HD from Ignite Films!

Michael's Musings

Do You Like Girls Or Boys?
Michael Shinafelt

This chaos is killing me, do you want to be free? Let moondust cover you, you're released, it's time to muse...

Treat Williams, damn! While gave many an excellent performance my personal fave was his Law & Order: SVU portrayal of Jake Stanton RIP

Every classroom had a kid who ate paste. That's probably who you are arguing with on Social Media

Why is Padam, Padam Kylie Minogue's biggest US hit? It's alright, but she's had so many better songs

Happy Pride to those who identify as a Samsung super-capacity washer (multiple loads all at once)

FYI according to the Bible Lobsterfest is an abomination, the more you know...

Dear haters, I couldn't help but notice that "Awesome" starts with "Me" and "Ugly" starts with "U"

I thought Kelis' Milkshake was supposed to bring all the "boys" to the yard

Pat Robertson's passing has started phase 19 of the "Gay Agenda"

Woman Crush of the Week - Joan Rivers, we could use her forked tongue more than ever in this insane world RIP

Visualize where you will eventually put it

The longer I live the more I am convinced this planet is used by other planets as a lunatic asylum

He left to go get gloves, think about it, but not too much

You F#cked around, now you'll find out

Any questions, any answers, alright wipe your nose then

I might have some answers here, note I stated MIGHT! -

Hump Day & Chill

Malcom McDowell
Now & Then

"Time for the old in-n-out" - Alex DeLarge, A Clockwork Orange

Oh yes Minions I thought we would give Hump Day & Chill it's literal due with some of the old "in-n-out" and I'm  not talking burgers either.

While I can't really give you too many deets, what I can give you is Malcom McDowell dressed as his character from the Stanley Kubrick classic dressed as his character Alex DeLarge now and how he looked as Alex in the actual film.

Yeah, not quite as titillating, but...you get the picture, right???

I remember seeing A Clockwork Orange as a teenager and how riveted I was by it. Malcom McDowell is completely mesmerizing in it. It was an early masterpiece that had a huge impact on me (a lot of the 70s cinema did for that matter.)

According to a film buff friend of mine it plays an important part in my visual style and in my photo shoots as well. He claims I reference it that way a lot, something I never noticed until he pointed it out to me.

So there you have it get ready to Hump Day & Chill with some "old in-n-out" Hey, that's my plan...

Vertigo

No matter what time of the year it is, what celebration we are having, it's always classic movie time!!!

Pride season is no exception. Thus I bring to you one of Alfred Hitchcock's masterpieces, notice I stated one as he had more than one masterpiece, Vertigo.

It's a thriller about something we can all relate to: obsession.

Here's where I leave you in the capable hands of my buddy Jay Jacobson and his classic movie blog.

Jay's astute writing and perception are all you need to introduce you or to get you reacquainted  with the Jimmy Stewart/Kim Novak starrer.

Get ready to celebrate PRIDE month in style with Yvie Oddly's latest record that's set to change the game within the Hip Hop/EDM scene.

LISTEN TO YO HERE

"I’m excited about this project because it’s so trippy" states Yvie. "I tend to take shit too seriously, but I just had fun on this! I took these colorful soundscapes, wrote whatever my brain thought of, and just let it flow out of me. It’s as operatic and campy as it is witty and biting. This was such a fun casual flex to write and perform.  The same goes for all my collaborators. I worked with producers who didn’t shy away from bold sounds or surreal moods. And I even got to collab with two queer artists (Cakes Da Killa & Wreckno) who are known for breaking boundaries in the music industry. It’s overall unapologetic, proud, and fun at a time when we need it most."

You’ll also be able to catch Yvie live as she embarks on the RuPaul Drag Race Werq World Tour as well as her own Strange Love Tour. Strange Love features Yvie in her debut one-woman show chock full of outrageous comedy, insane musical numbers, and gratuitous nipple play.
