Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins
Dick Van Dyke & Julie Andrews

Whilst getting ready to engage in my day an E-mail came in that my buddy Jay Jacobson had a new post on his Classic Movie Blog. This weeks post turned out to none other than Mary Poppins starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.

It made me remember how wonderful the film is and how much I enjoyed it when I was a kid, and as an adult. It also reminded me of the time I played Michael Banks in a stage production of it when I was in the second grade. "Yes" that's a true story.

Mainly, with all that being said, it made me mostly remember that there is still magic in this world to be found and experienced.

Read Jay's expert breakdown of this truly timeless film and it's enduring popularity...have a magical day with Mary!

Hello Monday!

Mellow Yellow
Zendaya

Hello Monday! Yesterday the Oscars happened, with the first red carpet at an awards show since the Pandemic.

While I am not going to critique the show, I will state that I loved Union Station as the setting for it. Lots of ambiance and history that location has and it served as a great backdrop to the to do. Now back to our regularly scheduled program, the return of the red carpet.

It was great seeing stars trotting out their Sunday best and striking a pose for photographers again. While there was a lot of great Oscar fashion I am kicking off the week with my favorite, which you must have guessed by now since there is a photo of it.

That's correct Minions it's Zendaya in Valentino, she looks amazing and yellow is obviously one color that really works on her.

Hello Monday indeed...

Oscar Sunday

In a year that was different to say the least, expect nothing less from this year's Academy Awards telecast. From what I understand under the guidance of Steven Soderbergh the to do is going to play out like, well, a movie.

Hey, I am tuning in mainly to see what they do with the broadcast, I've only seen one of the nominated films (Mank) - I think it's smart to make the show itself the thing, rather than the actual awards.

Below is a list of the nominees so you, and I, can play along.

Smiles everyone, smiles and Happy Oscar Sunday!

HorrorPops

Eclectic Horror Pop Superstars HorrorPops
To Release Their First Ever Live Album on June 18th
Available in all formats including a Blu-ray / DVD / CD combo pack,
limited edition colored vinyl (gold or silver), and 180-gram black vinyl

It’s been over 12 years since L.A. transplants HorrorPops have released a full-length album and almost as many years since they’ve performed their delicious blend of ‘80s new wave, punk, rockabilly, surf and ska on stage. So it seems especially fitting that the Copenhagen natives, still led by the powerhouse duo of Patricia Day and Kim Nekroman, have marked their return with a spectacular full-length, multi-media concert album that brings all the magic of the band’s stage show to your home.

Filmed and recorded in early 2020, Live At The Wiltern features supercharged performances of the band’s best-loved tunes including “Walk Like A Zombie,” “Miss Take,” “Freaks In Uniforms,” “Where They Wander,” “Hit ‘N’ Run,” “Psychobitches Outta Hell” and so much more!

Patricia credits the fans with this show’s release: "'We wouldn’t be here without you' is a total cliché, but damn, you made it true and this album is the proof. We might have forgotten we were a band, but you sure as hell didn’t!"

This very special release will be available on June 18th, 2021 in all formats including a superb Blu-ray / DVD / CD combo pack as well as on colored vinyl (gold or silver) or a 180-gram BLACK vinyl.

Michael's Musings

Pardon Me, I'm Levitating
Michael Shinafelt

Happy Levitation Day! "Yes" that is what I am referring to today as. All is well at present and thus I choose to levitate. Levitation is a state of mind and being. Thus may I be so bold to suggest you choose it, over staying on the ground today? I did actually suggest it, so it's too late, carry on Minions, carry on!

"No" is a full sentence

Happy Earth Day! Worship the ground you walk on!
