Twinning!

Who's Zooming Who?
RuPaul

They say everyone has a double, a doppelganger if you will out there in the world. Well in RuPaul's case this is 100% the truth!

Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas has unveiled a new RuPaul Charles waxwork (say that three times fast) - Oh, and this isn't the first time the Madame has done the deed. Apparently there is another RuPaul in their New York wax museum as well that made it's debut in 2000.

If they keep this up there will be an army of RuPaul's like in the Grace Jones video Demolition Man!

For the most part I am not into the whole wax figure thing. It really has no interest or point for me. That being stated most wax figures are a pale imitation of the person they are trying to replicate.

Happily that is not the case here, RuPaul's likeness is indeed "Twinning!"

Get down with your wax self!!!

Blame It On My Lemon Juice...

Pucker Up
Jennifer Aniston

Well as fate would have it today is National Lemon Juice Day, Yay! Why would this excite me?! Because I am a big partaker of the juice myself, that's why.

"Yes" I start off each morning with a big ole glass of lemon water, that's correct I take lemons from my refrigerator, squeeze them by hand so their juice goes into my waiting glass of water.

Not only does it taste great it has some groovy health benefits as well. What are they? Well the prime one for me is it aids in weight loss. Which I'm sure makes the juice all the more attractive to those of you reading this right here, right now...

As you can see Jennifer Aniston lives by the juice, and so do I.

Now get work Minions, you have lemons to squeeze!!!

Introducing: Brandon James Gwinn

Brandon James Gwinn Releases “You’ll See,”

a Duet with Broadway’s Alexa Green
The Second Single and Music Video from His BULLIT Album

Brandon James Gwinn and Broadway’s Alexa Green sing in the new video for “You’ll See,” the second single from Gwinn’s BULLIT album.  Written by Brandon James Gwinn and co-produced with M.P. Kuo, the song is a pop country crossover track, in the vein of Shania Twain and Lady A, and follows Gwinn’s previous release, “Cristal Conners.” While the track may feel like a 180 departure from the comic queerness of “Cristal Conners,” the two songs are actually quite similar in their country roots and unconventional storytelling. “I think both are indicative of the eclectic journey of the album as a whole,” explains Gwinn.  “Much of BULLIT is about how life and love can be beautifully chaotic, and “You’ll See” acknowledges the mess. It says “I don’t know what I can promise you and it might be a disaster, but I don’t want to leave and neither do you, so let’s figure it out.”

“The song is an anthem of faith,” adds Alexa Green. “Its two people on the brink of deciding which path to choose. Go forward and risk it all or end things where they are and possibly never know what could have been. Everyone wants to be in love, right? The question is; is it worth the risk?”

“You’ll See” is being distributed by Indie Chameleon and is available on Apple Music, Spotify and all digital platforms, along with Brandon James Gwinn’s BULLIT album.  Its video is available on YouTube.

“This song combines emotional influences from a couple of different relationships I’ve been in and out of over the past few years,” Gwinn continues from his NYC home.  He wrote “You’ll See” with Alexa’s voice in mind.   “I just kinda naturally heard her singing it in my head, so I leaned into that and made it a duet.”

“When Brandon told me he wrote us a song, I was all over it,” says Green.  “Brandon is my best friend. I will always sing anything he ever writes but honestly, the song is so haunting and catchy. It really speaks to me.”

Brandon James Gwinn

Brandon James Gwinn and Alexa Green met ten years ago, shortly after Green completed the San Francisco production of Wicked.  They connected on many levels, sharing a love of amazing meals, travel, taking too many selfies, and glam.  They have been best friends ever since and regularly work together, with Green singing demos for Gwinn’s musical works and performing in many of his readings.

They have fun, in-and-out of the studio.  “Alexa has definitely almost gotten into a bar fight for me when some drunk guy was spewing homophobic garbage,” laughs Gwinn.  Brandon James Gwinn is a queer man who identifies as gender fluid.

Their tomfoolery can be seen in the music video for “You’ll See.”  Filmed by Tyler Milliron, the studio footage is legitimate B-roll. “OK, there’s not always champagne in our sessions,” Gwinn admits, “but there was that day, and I definitely didn’t mean to spill it all over my producing partner, M.P. Kuo… or did I?”

Brandon James Gwinn was raised in the suburbs of Nashville, Tennessee.  After college at Middle Tennessee State University, he continued his studies at NYU, earning his MFA in musical theatre writing.  He has enjoyed a prolific career in theatre, writing ten stage musicals that have had various levels of production from college to regional and even Off-Broadway.  He was nominated for a Drama League Award and won the American Academy of Arts and Letters’ Richard Rodgers Award for his and EllaRose Chary’s musical TL;DR: Thelma Louise; Dyke Remix.

He entered the pop realm with the production of two albums for RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars winner Trixie Mattel: 2017’s Two Birds and 2018’s One Stone; both of which he performed on. He released his first EP, Not Too Late, in 2018 and performed the songs live as opening act of Trixie Mattel’s USA tour.

Michael's Musings

It's Twisty Thursday!
Michael Shinafelt

Remember the movie Freaky Friday with Jamie Lee Curtis & Lindsay Lohan, pretty great huh? Well that's sort of the place I'm at except it's Thursday. Thus let's refer to this day, August 26th 2021 as Twisty Thursday!

What's that? No I haven't switched bodies with anyone, but there simply seems to be an air of possibilities floating around, like you know, anything can happen. Yeah, I just gave context to the Freaky Friday reference. Time to carry on with our bad selves...

Apparently you can not joke with your friends on Facebook like you can IRL. A friend of mine went back to blonde and I commented: "Yay the whore look" (something she would have laughed at) Boom! Gone, just like that!

Just say "Yes" to Butt Drugs

Let me go on record and state - I love the Amy Schumer Tampax commercial

Grow up and stop referring to people as "Karen"... and say c#nt like and adult

Mantra For Today: Baa Raw Ewe (if you know, you know)

Sutton & Garcelle on RHOBH = The Dream Team

Just Vote NO on the California recall of Gavin Newsome, my NO vote has been signed, sealed, delivered and counted 😎

Feelings are such a scam...the more you know

Woman Crush of the Week - Lizzo her latest Rumors is the number 1 rap song in the country! Get it Queen!!!

Stop using the word invite when referring to work meetings. This isn't a Birthday Party...

Take time for something of a homicidal nature (bet you didn't see the coming)

Congrats to the cast & crew of Women Behind Bars (many who are friends of mine) it is now streaming on Broadway HD https://www.broadwayhd.com/

John Cena just ran naked through my mind

Wanna know what other twisty things are in the corners of my mind?!

Hump Day & Chill

"Science fiction (uh uh) double feature, Doctor X (uh uh) will build a creature" - Science Fiction Double Feature, The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Tonight's the night, that's correct Minions American Horror Story: Double Feature premieres and it's Wednesday thus we shall Hump Day & Chill today by getting our horror on. Oh, and "Yes" some science fiction as well from the looks of the aliens in the trailer.

Remember double features when you were a kid? While I am sure some of you don't many of us living legends do. They were always a blast and mainly happened at Drive-Ins, oh those days of yore.

I plan to bask in the gory (not a typo) of AHS and enjoy the ride. What's that? How much do I love AHS you ask? Well honestly I am proceeding with caution as usually it runs out of steam after the first three episodes as it never seems to know what to do with the meat in the sandwich leading up to the conclusion.

This being stated I would imagine that each story contained in the double feature will likely be 5 or 6 episodes in length and that bodes quite well as to me that is the perfect amount of time to tell a tight concise story for any AHS season.

So kick back, Hump Day & Chill and buckle up to things that go bump in the night...!

"Candyman, Candyman, Candyman"

Who's That Girl???
Virginia Madsen

"Who can take a sunrise (who can take a sunrise) Sprinkle it with dew (sprinkle it with dew)" The Candy Man, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

In case you haven't heard the 411 there's a reboot of the 1992 horror flick Candyman starring Tony Todd & Virginia Madsen opening this Friday. "Yes" really.

Good news for fans of the first go, Tony Todd is returning as Candyman. While Ms. Madsen is not returning she decided to get cheeky and pose with this bus stop billboard of the upcoming to do. Hey, Hellen expired in the first round and no one renewed her for this one.

She captioned it: "Well hello there..."

That's so Mae West.

My thoughts? Glad you asked. I truly enjoyed the first one, it is definitely one of the better modern horror yarns. This being stated my expectations for this Friday's reboot are low. Why you ask? I'm glad you did, for one thing not one review has been published as of yet. Not a good sign.

Will I ever seen it? Somewhere down the line I'm sure I will. But it can wait.

In the meanwhile I'm living for this photo of Madsen. She's one of my favorite actors.

Mic Drop!
